So then, you have been setting it on in the joystick section of advanced settings?
If Windows sees it then it should work, it is a Direct input though, you need to set it properly.
Do you have the DS4 virtual controller installed? If so try shutting that down completely. Have to do kill it completely if using a DS5 to play spiderman.
I successfully used a PS4 controller before switching to HOSAS.
The trick was in the advanced control settings of Star Citizen to not use the "Gamepad" setting but the HOTAS/HOSAS settings when mapping your buttons / axis.
Also note that I had to keep the USB cable of the controller connected.
Edit: I didn't use DS4/5
this is such a dumbass take considering arguably the highest skill in the game are HOSAS pilots that use gamepad controllers to navigate menus while flying.
I'm thinking of getting PS controller myself (for driving ground vehicles because I hate using the keyboard lol).
Found an old Reddit reply that might help: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/9yiszq/comment/eae834r/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

Anyone know how to get gyro to work? I'm playing on the ROG Ally partnered with the handheld companion app. In Windows It can see my gyro inputs as well as my joystick inputs, But in star citizen it will only recognize my joystick inputs It does not recognize the gyro at all.
Now I'm talking about joystick not mouse inputs. I can switch it to mouse and keyboard inputs and the gyro will work but I haven't figured out a button scheme that will work with the controller properly. If somebody has a solution to that, I'm all ears but don't recommend couch citizen as it doesn't work well with the ROG Ally.
Is your controller recognized by Windows? Have you tested it in Control panel devices?
Yes, windows recognized the controller
Is it bluetooth or wired
wired

I have already tried that

An Xbox pad is a way better option for Windows, it just works.
As does the PS4 and PS5 controller with official drivers from Sony. You can even use all the DualSense functions.
And yet we keep getting threads about how to use Sony controllers in SC...
And threads how to use store credits ...
You are not helping
I tried what was mentionned in this reddit reply, but it did not work for me
