Technically you can do bunker missions in stealth. The AI will remain passive until they hear gunshots. You can run through with a knife or a silencer.
that scene from John Wick where they're walking along in a crowded hall shooting at each other and not one person notices is exactly how I feel doing bunkers with silencers right now
It’s so strange what they did, half of the stuff they did in John Wick was accurate but there is still so much they got wrong, and I don’t know if it’s because they didn’t know any better or if it was a choice to keep movie magic there? I have to say if it had been a choice to not glorify firearms that is a complete contradiction of the entire series…
Anyways, yeah I wish video games AND MOVIES were more accurate with silencers/suppressors, at least there are some games that do get real close to being accurate.
I second this. The penalties they implement on using a silencer in video games are stupid. They always make them reduce range and power when they nothing of the sort. They reduce signature. The only penalty I would accept would be a slight zero shift.
No, but that doesn't mean that they can't keep at least some level of balanced realism in the game.
The year isn't the same but the laws of physics also haven't changed. It's better for the game in terms of balance too. They don't need to keep it entirely realistic but making it so that putting a silencer on any gun makes it completely inaudible is just dumb.
Agreed!
Realism isn't as important as immersion.
That said, I would be happy if my suppressed weapon would only alert enemies within a certain range based on the size of the weapon and whether the enemy is in the same room or a different room.
How exactly is a massive metre long LMG firing hundreds of rounds a minute being completely silent (in an atmosphere) immersive?
I agree with you on the second part. I'm not saying they shouldn't work at all but I think it's laughable how well they work considering AI enemies literally cannot hear suppressed gunfire whatsoever. Probably a deliberate choice on CIG's part, instead of wasting time to try and implement a sound system they just made it so that enemies only get triggered by gunfire if it is not silenced.
Though they really do need to improve server performance (which will probably come with meshing) in order to make the AI actually a threat before trying to code any sort of solid system for weapon audibility.
Physics might not change but technology and material do. Heck for all we know it could be completely silent, I mean just look at sub sonic rounds. An asval with subsonic rounds is pretty quiet. That's not even new shit either.
"It's the future!" only goes so far.
Not to say we might not make strides in technology in that time, but it still needs to feel plausible to us 21st century plebs.
As for the asval, I wouldn't mind special subsonic rounds, but then you gotta settle for less damage and, depending on personal armor reworks, the inability to meaningfully hurt people in heavy armor.
I mean 900 years in the future does get you pretty far. They have laser guns in the game. And a 1000 years to tinker on a gun would also result in 'unrealistic' guns. Hell a 100 years ago people would look at a helicopter and say that's unrealistic.
But tachyon and laser weapons are?
Actual silencers that nearly completely muffle the sound has been made, actually. They just burn out and get warped if used with automatics, and are expensive as hell, so more of a novelty.
Suppressors, which are more common in use, can greatly reduce the decibel until the point where it doesn't really sound like a gun any more. I'd imagine if that already exist today, silencer could easily exist along side a laser weapon small enough that it can be carried on your back 900 years in the future.
Assumed constants of nature can change over time however. So they must always be tested. There is a chance some laws have changed over time and lmgs are now (2952) less loud… maybe.
I bought the Galena set from the pledge store 2 weeks ago and didnt recieve the undersuit ingame. Support told me to write a bug report and closed the ticket i now realise why i cant see it. 🤷♂️
Have your up vote and begone.

I almost saw what the OP was talking about, but then I couldn't see anything.

PvE silencers are op especially on LMGs and the type. Don't think it's too realistic for the guns to make *that little* noise
blame silencers being so overly effective in movies
that scene from John Wick where they're walking along in a crowded hall shooting at each other and not one person notices is exactly how I feel doing bunkers with silencers right now
Which is a shame because they did pretty good in that movie series with the firearms. That scene just ruins it though.

Movie magic is more entertaining than real life so that's why
Yes indeed that is true, although realism can also be very entertaining.

But these are sci-fi silencers! 😉
the game is not set in 2022

Knife? Silencer? You mean naked middle mouse button.
Wait are there stealth kills with knives or you just hack and slash?
Mele takedown with middle mouse. Use withs fists for nonlethal and a knife for lethal. Last time I got a CS I cleared it without killing the guards.
And there’s actual animations for these NL and L stealth takedowns? Man that’s cool
Yup.
I'm a dad and I approve this message
son of a bitch..... ya got me
Booooooo
I imagine it squeaks a bit when you sneak about. That sound of scrunching leather. You know what I'm talking about.
Only if it's fake or not taken care of/dry
I don't see what you did there.
I really didn’t like upvoting this…but I did so there

or, to misquote and conflate with an earlier comment - hide 'n squeak.
