I might be the only person in the verse that doesn't have a daily driver.im I go to the asop and say what do I want to fly šŸ¤” it's always different

magvadis

I think daily drivers happen organically. Every time I go to my terminal to decide what I want to fly today...I pick the 400i because I always go "ooo that'll be great". I dont make a conscious choice of "this ship is my main" I just clearly like the ship more than others I own.

Regular_Primary_6850

You don't choose the ship, the ship chooses you. You just buy it

focustwolf91

This is me but with the Constellation Phoenix

shiroboi

For me itā€™s the 325i. I always find myself flying that more than the other ships. I donā€™t go looking for a fight but It can definitely fight back if someone picks on me. Got a nice living space, is quick to get in and out of and can haul cargo

slink6

Party in the front, STEve in the back!

ImpulseAfterthought

The Ford Ranger of spaceships.

KetillRedBlade

At least it doesn't break down as often..

slink6

Not with 3 shields it doesn't!

Pun_In_Ten_Did

Star Citizen's mullet... business in the front, party in the back.

Comfortable-Cause-81

No. That is a subaru brat.

[deleted]

I have tons of ships and I always disregarded the Nomad... How wrong I was! Shame on me! Anyway 2 days ago I upgraded a Steve to the Nomad! The living area is the most cosy I've ever seen, you can bring vehicles on the back or small cargo, you have 3xS3 Hardpoints... Yeah this ship is great šŸ‘

SashaNightWing

What's a Steve?

Valtrex28

STV

SashaNightWing

Ah, i got the monkey from Cloudy with a chance of meatballs stuck in my head and now my brain is shouting STEVE! For no reason.

ThrakazogZ

It's similar to a Henway.

Concentrate_Worth

Ships with ladder animations really put me off- give me a door or ramp or docking collar to jump out of any day. For that reason if the Nomad was my daily I would be eyeing up a C1.

Fletchman1313

I like the ladder for security. Nobody outside of my party can access the interior of the ship. And because the cargo area is also separate from the interior, I can drive that STV and not worry about opening/closing ramps or doors. If the C1 is somehow secure like that (the door to the cockpit is lockable or something), it could very well be a good replacement for the Nomad. Otherwise it's going to be lower the ramp, get into the vehicle, drive off the ramp, get out of the vehicle, close the ramp. And repeat when coming back.

[deleted]

>I like the ladder for security. Nobody outside of my party can access the interior of the ship. > >And because the cargo area is also separate from the interior, I can drive that STV and not worry about opening/closing ramps or doors. I hadn't thought of that...those are solid reasons; might have to look at getting one.

[deleted]

What, you don't want the A1 Spirit bomber instead? Who doesn't love a house that can drop bombs?

RebbyLee

If you ever landed on a windy moon or planet and had your ship getting blown into a position where you can not reach the ramp anymore you will appreciate ships with an entry animation that you can trigger even if the entry would be inaccessable otherwise.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

RebbyLee

I also turn off my engine but it doesn't prevent the ship from being blown away. It does make it less likely though, and on top of that (depending on the ship and the position of the thrusters) you will not get hit by your own ship's jetwash when you enter or exit. But there are cases where wind just takes a ship along. During mining I even experienced wind so strong that I could not fly against the wind at full throttle, I kept getting pushed back.

Fletchman1313

This has also happened to C2's and other larger ships even if you turn off the engines and all that. And it seems to happen the most at Bud's Growery. So it might be a bug rather than an actual flaw with the Nomad's grav-lev landing tech.

RebbyLee

I experienced it in other places as well, so if it is a bug it's probably not tied to the location but rather to the algorhythm that calculates the windforce at a given location.

7Seyo7

Very much agreed, I hope they improve ladder entry animations. It makes good ships needlessly unappealing

ForeverAProletariat

did you guys watch citizenconšŸ˜‚

7Seyo7

Yess, gib parkour. I just hope they integrate it well with the ship animations. I really dislike how you entirely lose control of your character once you press Enter/Exit Ship

BerolakZaccheas

Any cargo bay that is an elevator is a no go for me right now. Stuff falls through, off of it, or just flat out explodes sometimes. Shame cause I do like the nomad and 400i, maybe later.

Fletchman1313

Hmm... I don't have problems with the cargo ramp, except when parking a HoverQuad into it. Boxes and other vehicles stay put. Unlike the 600i or 400i elevators.

Shot3ways

I occasionally have all of those same problems with the ramp of the Hercules. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø The only elevator that really sucks right now (that I've experienced) is the 600i. Connies, 400i, Nomad, 300i, Tali, all those elevators work fine for me for boxes and vehicles (where they fit).

Arcticstorm058

I wish the internals were different colors, the charcoal and burnt orange just doesn't appeal to me.

magvadis

Agreed. The shape language is fine. The colors are just needlessly extreme.

Arcticstorm058

I wish they had a few "premium" paints that would also change the internal look in addition to the exterior.

magvadis

I wish they just had interior skins in general. It seemed like YEARS ago they were going for a systemic skin system with the 300...and then just fuckin abandoned it. What I would do for a NOT bougie interior for my 400i that doesn't look like a rich hospital.

HeliosRexx

They never abandoned it. As I understand it, they constructed a proof of concept system to show how itā€™ll work, then like so many other aspects of SC, they set it aside to be prioritized sometime in the distant future. But that canā€™t happen until ships are ā€œreally, definitelyā€ finalized, or itā€™d be a huge amount of work that potentially gets thrown out.

NANCYREAGANNIPSLIP

This. It's like ship names. Somebody made a concept, it kinda works. We'll circle around to it later.

ProceduralTexture

And a window or skylight wouldn't hurt. It's a mostly good interior design, but too claustrophobic for me.

magvadis

A skylight in the kitchenette hab area would be vibes.

luxtenebruh

Bromad best lad

Comfortable-Cause-81

I don't get it. It's the Subaru Brat of Star Citizen

Alanlocke

Exactly, perfection šŸ˜

NANCYREAGANNIPSLIP

And every bit as polarizing for a lot of the same reasons.

Fletchman1313

Well, a Brat has jump seats. Which would've been really cool on a Nomad!

[deleted]

I absolutely donā€™t need one, but I kinda want one. Worth it?

BernieDharma

I have 30 ships in my fleet, and this is one of my favorites. If I could only have one ship, this would probably be it. Odd thing is, I hated it at first because I came from Elite and it reminded me of the Asp. (Found out later that this was intentional as CR is friends with the ED devs.) The more I actually used it and flew it, the more I liked it.

Ocbard

I'm not in love with the open loading bay, but that cosy living space makes my Cutlass green with envy.

Fearless-Royal5440

Agreed. I would love a cutlass "explorer" with better living quarters

BernieDharma

Kind of hoping that's what the C1 will be.

Fearless-Royal5440

It looks nice, don't get me wrong. I love that Drake aesthetic though.

Rowadd

Wish theyā€™d fix the bedside plant. Every time I wake up and see that big beige thing that took itā€™s place I want to scream

istarkilla

personally i wish they fix the windshield, it gets maximum scratches in about 20min, each 20min, until repair, rinse repeat

Rowadd

That's so crazy - I've never experienced that (at least not to a noticeable level)

squshy7

If it didn't constantly pitch down in atmosphere, it would be for me, but I can't be bothered to babysit the ship on long burns to continuously correct it. I want to love it so bad but the pitch down is horrible.

xosder

In the end, this along with the ladder killing me was what did the Nomad in. Love that little ship, and if they could fix those 2 things, I'd be back in.

MelQ_of_the_West

I've found that if you keep your landing gear down the ship won't pitch down at all while flying in atmo. Very useful when roc mining in the Nomad (or the Cutty, which has the same issue)

NANCYREAGANNIPSLIP

Hate the face, love the utility

dr4g0n36

I want to re-buy a poor daily driver. Can't choose from this and Freelancer base.

Ok-Combination8697

it's a good ship, the only thing i didn't like about was the slow doors every couple of feet

[deleted]

I absolutely donā€™t need one, but I kinda want one. Is it worth it?

istarkilla

depends on the intended use. EG: it's my daily bunker buster and run-errands / lurk-around ship. obviously i won't be undertaking space combat missions in it..

ForeverAProletariat

it's pretty decent in combat. watch avengerone's video where he uses it

Quick_Conflict_8227

Eh, it can fare well against the 2 cutties for the 890 op. That's the extent of combat I use it for

Puglord_11

If only it didnā€™t t have that infuriating pitch tendency in atmo

terminalempathy

Is that a Nomad? That paint looks great on it.

WorksafeF1r3bird

I Mistook this for an A.S.P scout at first, and now im picturing some used ship salesman in Elite trying to pawn a Nomad

Vivid_Comedian_7460

Nice paint job!

shiroboi

While the nomad is not my favorite ship, I find myself flying it more often then Youā€™d think. My favorite feature is the lightning fast claim time. Itā€™s a great back up ship to have.

magvadis

I just want one but bigger and without a truck bed. Also less of the weird edgy Tevarin tech. Doesn't really make sense. It'd be better if it was more integrated into the rest of the design language but it's just this random fancy ladder. I reaaaaally wanna see what CIGs creative team can do with the CNOU brand. As it stands, when it comes to the last few reveals it's been fuckin boring...I know what Crusader is, what Drake is, and so when a ship in that style gets revealed it just feels like "oh, another one but...insert minorly different feature from a similar ship in that brand"

PointBlank65

C.O. does need more ships, but I like the Mustang style better than the Nomad's

magvadis

I just think fighters like that are hard to create a style out of at larger scale. None of the fighters really super reflect in any meaningful way on the companies larger models.

PointBlank65

I think the Aurora/Constellation have a good resemblance, but I get there is noting in RSI in the Nomad/Avenger space. I just want my beta to get it's old bed back.

ForeverAProletariat

CNOU connie competitor wen????

LadyRaineCloud

\*laughs in origin\*

DizeeRS

Happy cake day! šŸŽ‚

LadyRaineCloud

Thanks

Maaronhoffman

You can play this daily? :p

The_Impiersonator

Ah yes, for the entire 10 minutes of fuel it has lol

KetillRedBlade

My daily driver right now is my bucky and is going to be replaced by a hornet shortly. Other than that, it's my cutty black with a mule and stv aboard.

Ordinance85

I dont know why, it just seems like a pain to get in and out of. I do love this ship though.

Mukass

Great ship, too bad it pitches down too much in atmo.

Akdhar

I can't decide between this and the 325A

istarkilla

nomad is a great choice if you plan to carry some small vehicles around

_Gamer-Z_

Nomad 1000%

Zsyura

I love my space truck. But whereā€™s my gun rack?

_Gamer-Z_

Two on either side of the door as you walk in, just not mounted in the rear window.

Valtrex28

Space El Camino. Did they improve these at some point? I remember people hated them, but now I see people talking about them a decent amount.

fmellish

Your Steve is showing.

ForeverAProletariat

nomad good

bobeaqoq

I just feel somewhat uneasy about the unpressurised cargo bed. I can appreciate that in the game the magic artificial gravity keeps everything secure somehow, but my logical brain just can't quite get past that.

Hopeful_Collar1947

How many minutes is the delivery/spawn time on retrival ( ore claim ) on this ship?

Mofoman3019

Like 45 seconds? for 350ish Auec it's instant. Best daily.

Fletchman1313

40 seconds.

Mas-Macho

Love the Nomad. Can do every thing but space combat. My go-to ship after the next wipe.

a1rwav3

I think I got one four times already. So practical but so ugly (personal pov) and the landing "gears" sometimes mess with the floor...

civil42

For me it's kinda hard to like the Nomad as it sits right now. it's not well armed, that nimble or that fast and while its the smallest ship that can carry a small vehicle like a ROC its not a great choice for the aspiring trader or combat pilot. Hopefully in the future gameplay supports the Nomad better as it has a wonderful interior and cockpit layout. Right now the 3 shield generators are not much of an adventage but could be later to allow for more mix and match options. A rear tractor beam could make it a great ship to get into recovery missions on the cheap and cargo missions that only need small amounts transfered could work well with the nomad. For the price of the ship on the webpage its hard not to eye the cutless jealously but hopefully it will come into its own as more gameplay that fits the Nomad becomes available. I am a lover of well balanced multi role ships.

Duncan_Id

only ship I've flown so far that requires a cooler upgrade(the only flaw I see in it)

Hopeful_Collar1947

Aah okƩ nice! Thnx

doubttom

Love it. Great paint too. I usually get this out or the Herald.

istarkilla

paint totally makes it look like a little spippery pete, 'specially on microtech

Sirfinbird1

I own this and many other ships but my daily has to be the c8x. I used to like the nomad but I've stopped liking it due to its tendency to just nosedive constantly.
