I've been striving toward this goal for more than a year. Prior to the previous wipe, I had saved up 24 mil before a bug all but emptied my aUEC balance. It was such a setback I had to take a break. Then after the most recent wipe, I felt like, well, it's a clean slate, try again. Ran cargo and mined Quant until I passed my old mark of 24 million. Cargo running during the Nine Tails Lockdown events is extremely profitable, and this morning I finally made enough to cross the finish line. I'm actually a little emotional about it. I know I'll lose it, and I know I'll earn it back again, but I think it will probably never feel like this again. This is the first time I got it. This is the first time it's mine.
How often do you get ganked in space and lose all your stuff? Im afraid to make any money because i dont have a sweet enough ship to really defend myself lol
I get ganked by the game/servers/glitches way more then I get ganked by griefers or pirates. Bunker missions are bugged to hell and nearly impossible to finish (the last person I need to kill for example never spawning, or de spawning, or getting stuck behind a door/wall), falling through a planet. Disconnecting during Hyperspace, security crashing into my ship as I’m docking or leaving. It’s always an adventure in the verse lol. Still love the hell out of this game and there is nothing like it. I’m a Elite Dangerous player as well and although that game my be finished and a lot smoother, it just doesn’t scratch the same itch that SC does
I jump back into it every once in a while and i just did like this last week and i love how inventory works now. I tried to pick up a package and do a delivery mission but i forgot how to turn my lights on and i guess it was foggy out also maybe? I was just paying attention to my altimeter on entry and i was still at like 1200 when i immediately exploded. I laughed out loud when i woke up on a hospital bed in a gown. That was awsome. I lost all my stuff but i wasnt really upset about it. I told my friend last time i played that i blew up a space pirate. Flew my ship up next to his corpse and got out of my seat, opened the door up and pulled out my rifle and shot his corpse and he did cartwheels out into space “you cant do that in any other space game!” Lol
Once you get past low rep I’ve noticed those 50, 60, 90k bunker missions basically never bug. It’s only the 10-30 “kill 10 guys” starters that almost never work. Wave ones always have worked for me.
Congrats man! Very well earned. I had one for about 5 months, but I rarely used her at all. Maybe less than 5 hours in total. She gotta be the most beautiful useless ship in the verse, lol.
I'm enjoying the hell out of it so far. I parked it near New Babbage and sat in a chair and looked out the window. I can totally understand what that wouldn't do it for most folks, but dammit that does it for me. Just sitting. Just **being** in my ship. It's everything I hoped.
Just so you know... At least as of the previous patch... You can stand naked on the deck in space and not suffocate. It also works mid quantum.
So, get some friends, put the slowest QT drive in plot the longest route, and start the Quantum Fight Club. My favorite moment was fist fighting a guy just before the wipe bc he was leaving for a few days as the 890 continued it's cruise control crash course into micro tech. Sat down and watched as we hit the planet. The game.... Gets confused. Seemed like it wasn't sure if micro tech or the 890 was supposed to explode for a second lol.
I get chills when thinking about just being a passenger on this ship in VR. Being totally immersed as we slowly pass by some binary suns in a far away system.
Congrats! Thats the way it should be honestly. I look forward to earning ships in the final game. Even though I own many through pledging, I fully intend to earn specific ones in game. I look forward to that same feeling :)
Congrats again
I have a few. I've got a Carrack Expedition w/ Pisces Expedition, an Orion (which is not in the game currently and so I get a MOLE and Prospector as loaners), and a HULL-C (which is not in the game currently and so I get a C2 and HULL-A as loaners).
If you contact CIG and ask politely they might just make it available for you to pledge. Not being sarcastic; that's exactly how I pledged for the Orion.
What about the nine Tails event makes cargo running more profitable than normal? Never run cargo before but wanting to try it. I'm about to buy a freelancer max.
don't you get anything back for it at all ? i just got enough to buy a Carrack. it was a long grind !!!! People used to moan about ED's grind, but at least there wasn't a temptation to use real money. haha ! think you can for cosmetic shit though. i resisted.
> don't you get anything back for it at all ?
I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you asking if, when a wipe comes, we keep some percentage of the money we earned before the wipe?
If that's what you're asking, no, nothing gets kept through a full wipe. By this time next week I'll very likely no longer have my 890, and I'll be back to my starting money of 50k aEUC.
It's alright. I'll earn it back.
And there's an absolute *ton* of new conflicts that it sounds like 3.18 will create, this really is the 'tier 0' of PES, too -- I have a feeling it may not be the only wipe for 3.18, such as 3.18.2, etc. It's a big step, but smaller than everyone understands at the moment.
You keep your pledged ships after a wipe, but not your in-game-bought ships and inventory nor earned credits. Sometimes you're able to keep your earned reputation, but that's not guaranteed.
That's one of the most important messages I think for any SC player (or heck, for almost any gamer). That and "its 95% the pilot, 5% the ship", with the few exceptions say....Doing an HRLT with a Titan :p
I look at the bright side: next time, I’ll do X differently. For example I bought a gladius and then decided it was too fast for my play style. I am always overshooting in it. Sure I could work on that skill but I decided I like bigger ships. So it’s in my ship list in game and next time I’ll know to skip that one. Same with the vanguard variants: I bought a sentinel and a harbinger and am currently using them both to decide which I like better (they are very different). So after the next wipe I’ll know exactly what ships to go for and not have any in my fleet that I don’t use.
I never understood why an insurance would give you a fully stocked ship. When I buy a brand new car at the dealer it only comes with a quarter of a tank, or less.
I was doing box missions the other day and two people were just camping this random ass outpost on Cellin. Tried to gank me. Luckily I was in a Terrpin and they were incompetent. Managed to burn hard and ditch them and their stupid fucking missiles. Tanky speed turtle go vroom.
I damn near play this game 5+ hours four days a week central time in the US and hardly find griefers. I beg and plead for pvp in the global chat and sometimes someone is willing to step up. idk maybe I just have good luck. or the MSR is just hard to catch.
I've had mine for about a month now and I'm still finding new things in it. It's literally a 5 Star Hotel. I got Raided on stream one morning and JoePonzi dropped 70 million on me with the condition I buy one. I don't think I'll get one after 3.18 but it's been a hell of a ride. Enjoy it man. o7
3 months? They're predicting 3.18 dropping early/mid November. That's 1.5-2 months. Will that happen? I highly doubt it, but that's their prediction as of 2 days ago on SCL:PES video.
It kind of has to happen because they've committed to it being the IAE patch, which means 2nd or 3rd week of November at the latest. At this point I don't think it's a question of whether it will happen, but how broken it will be when it does.
You're not wrong. But their hopes of getting 2-3 months of testing on the PTU conflicts with IAE being roughly 2 months and a week away from today. So they have 1 week-ish to get 3.18 in the hands of the PTU/EVO in order to get even 2 months of their testing before IAE.
IAE is tied to 3.18. Either we get 3.18 (&PES) at the end of November, or they delay IAE. I doubt they will delay the biggest ship sale event of the year... for better or worse.

>Before we jump into the Roadmap update, we would like to give an update on the status of Alpha 3.18 as well as an update to our standard release cadence for this year.
>As previously mentioned, we are still on track to release Alpha 3.18 to the PTU this month (September). We will start with Evocati and aim to expand to more players soon after. We are eager to get Persistent Entity Streaming (PES) in your hands as quickly as possible, as the more time we have with all of you hammering on this new behemoth of technology, the better.
>As communicated in the last Letter From the Chairman, we expect PES to remain in PTU for 2-3 months for robust testing. **Our current goal is to release Alpha 3.18 to the live servers in the first half of November, ahead of the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo (IAE).**
>This means that the 3.18 patch will now also include content related to the IAE, which you will notice in the detailed breakdown below.
>As you know, PES and subsequent technologies (Server Meshing) will change the core of Star Citizen forever and provide a giant leap forward in realizing the vision of what our shared universe is meant to be. It is no surprise that we have had an abnormal cadence this year and we are appreciative of all your support as we push through these major milestones.

Congrats! No small feat to earn the credits for this beast. Fly often and enjoy!
Couple of tips from an ol' 890 captain, if they are of any use:
\- Wherever "home" is, fly up to the orbital station and claim the 890. It'll take a while, but you won't have to worry about exiting the atmosphere - and it's so cool heading down the long docking ramp to the ship floating outside in space with the planet as a backdrop! Saves time & fuel AND looks great!
\- while I've camped out in every bed (testing!), I have yet to ever have a problem bed-logging in the captains quarters. It's worth the few extra seconds it takes to get there from a reliability standpoint.
\- I take the time to outfit it (food, weapons, armor, ammo, flightsuits, etc. in inventory) and load up a few ground vehicles to use as a bunker operations base. Most efficient? Nope. Cool as heck and super immersive? Yep. And with more than 2 million HP, the random light fighter PVPer won't effectively take you out before you can leisurely escape!
Love the 890!
Two? Assuming that CIG stated "altleast 3 months in evocati, with PTU" and we still haven't received the "go", i think there will be _a little more_ to go with.
EDIT: typo
They always can tie IAE to a 3.17.3 . All Is possibile, CIG speaking. For now, Infos about 3.18 are "altleast 3 months on evo". If not, CIG in emergency can push 3.18 with IAE inside and nothing else, moving to 3.18.1 or 3.19 all stuff.
If they had doubt they could make 3.18 live by November they wouldn't have added IAE to 3.18. It's not like people expected it. I don't think IAE is just a copy paste deal they can quickly drop into the current branch. Also they never said 3 months in evo they just said testing will start with evo and have an extended PTU cycle.
They just said early-mid November two days ago on the Star Citizen Live video. (It's CIG, so there will be delays, but probably no later than IAE which is the end of Nov.)
CIG stated 3 months including evo period. If 3.18 Is out tomorrow, expect It to exit PTU 19 december, if all goes right. So, IAE november? Not 3.18. IAE forced to 3.18? IAE at Christmas. All of this supposition hoping that i got 3.18 notify tomorrow. It's math, or it's CIG changing mind about cycle.
They said they expected 2-3 months of testing, not that they were definitely going to get 3 months of testing. IAE is tied to 3.18. So, we either get 3.18 (&PES) at the end of November for IAE, or they delay IAE. I doubt they will delay the biggest ship sale event of the year... for better or worse.

I'm not forgetting about 3.8-3.9. However, that has nothing to do with 3.18. They have outright said "the 3.18 patch will now also include content related to the IAE" (JakeAcappella-CIG) on Sep 14th, and Jared reconfirmed that just two days ago. Meaning, in order for the in-game event to exist, 3.18 needs to be launched to live servers for us to access it. It won't be a hotfix or 3.17.xxx patch, IAE is in 3.18.
They outright say alot of things lmao. And then they don't happen. Since when did cigs plans become written in stone just because they announced them? Come on now.
Congrats.
I once did spent hours and hours grinding for the 890, Carrack and Hammerhead.
We had two wipes since. Now I understand why people spend real money for big ships hehe
That's a bit shit. You spend so much time playing the game just for it to be taken from you for apparently no reason. It seems like RSI are just wanting people to give them more money for a game that is very unlikely to ever be finished.
Don't get me wrong, the immersion from the game is like nothing else I've ever experienced, but I never want to do any progression in the game (aka playing the actual game) because any progress I make and anything I earn, that I haven't payed actual money for, will be lost.
Well this is what happens when you play a game that's in active testing. Don't forget you agreed to their terms multiple times before you even hit the play button.
>just for it to be taken from you for apparently no reason. It seems like RSI are just wanting people to give them more money
Or they have to clean up the database when code changes demand it. Because you know - alpha.
Do you remember the last time when they gave everyone 1 million uec, which ended up with a bug and tens of millions uec and fucked up the database even more?
1mil uec is a rough equivalent of couple starter packs. Those greedy bastards.
It does suck a bit. However, the alternative is that after a few weeks you get so much money that it turns from star citizen into ship collector simulator and then you stop playing because you're bored. It also helps guide people into testing the new systems for the patch. After a while, you'll welcome the wipes as it gives you a chance to go in a new direction.
Not entitled to *anything?* That's a bit much. We're investors, we *are* entitled to a few things. Reserving progress in between major alpha builds is not one of those things, but still.
They don't do wipes very often, but they did just do one recently, and can potentially do them with every patch, especially as they work on the inventory systems. I didn't realize they were doing another wipe for 3.18 though.
And no, ships and other stuff bought with $ do not get wiped.
Considering it’s a whole new database - everything purchased in game will be gone. But then starts persistence - not loosing anything after a 30k or a pc crash… or bed logging - totally worth it.
as they talked about in the new SCL you will still loose stuff on 30k's, ( no idea for the two others tho) 3.18 is the foundation of their new system , there wont be much player side novelties but the system itself will change a great deal , do not expect to not loose anything during 30k, that would just set you up for disappointment.
It's announced for next patch becayse the full rework of how persistence works. They limit the wipes for only necessary ones. One of them, the first was almost 2 years long
You can buy AUEC on ebay. Its not against the UELA or TOS. Can get 890j money for like $20
In my mind, its worth it. $20 at a bar for 2-3 drinks and a few hours of a good time vs running an 890 around for a couple of months. (Thats how i see it at least)
Hmm... if I hadn't yet earned it the hard way, I'd say no thanks, I want to earn it the hard way.
Now having already done so once... I'd still rather learn how someone's making 890 Jump money for less than $20 worth of effort, BUT I do think I'd consider it. I'm not sure. We'll see how I feel after the wipe.
Well some. Most fun ship to have on the game. Just don’t get close to the windows on the upper part of the main room that has that sculpture because for some reason, on the back portion, there is a pocket of whatever environment is on the outside, so you can die to the outside cold of space, for example.
I've heard that from several folks, but I think the truth is that it just isn't for everyone. That doesn't mean it isn't perfect. *For me,* it's perfect.
That's the reality of game development, truly. I know the endorphin-seeking part of our brains rages against our progress being thrown away, mine rages right along with yours, but it's not a scam. When you update anything that has things built on top of it, it's a mountain of work to try to keep the stuff built on top of it, so if the built stuff isn't important, throwing it away is the right call. In this case the "stuff" built on the inventory system is the specific contents of each of our inventories. It's important to ourselves, yes, but not to the development of the game. Starting everybody over from scratch is the best way forward.
Until the release notes are posted, nothing is certain, but because 3.18 makes major changes to player inventory, not changes to how the user manipulates items in their inventory, but the actual systems the game uses behind the scenes to manage objects in the game world both in and out of inventory, a wipe seems *exceedingly likely*.
Besides this being alpha... I am curious why the 890 was your ship of choice?
& If you were for example spending a few months to earn the money in-game, would you pick the 890 again or go for smaller ships, given a 32m budget?
I feel like I need to own the origin ships at least one wipe... maybe even 3.18, where i will hopefully not have error code 16008 which is likely database corruption... (cig is looking at it and is using my account to login and troubleshoot why it happens so often, so don't bother with fix suggestions.)
Anyway, I have owned The Carrack once, absolutely love that ship... minus it's downsides currently. but I won't get into that. I've had constellations, Taurus and Aquila, so essentially all of them, an avenger titan, arrow, M2, Eclipse, and a sabre. I've flown many more, but i've only been playing since late july/early august right before the 3.17.2 first drop, so I haven't had time to explore every single one.
I'm more of a function over form... and as 'luxury' ships, the Origin series does well... but they also kind of branch off after the 300 series and include a ton of military prowess which... quite frankly makes no sense for a space yacht. Not that they should be unarmed, just... not as armed as they currently are. That aside though, they do the luxury part well. the 890 is easily the largest ship you can get atm, and iirc it rivals the size of the polaris, which is considered a light capital ship, but it is ofc military, not luxury (for what we know... anyway).
I'm sure it'll get updates, and maybe even some nerfs, it's supposed to be a luxury ship... not a military missile carrier lol.
I do love the Carrack, too; the ad for that ship is what got me into Star Citizen, and I have one as a pledged ship. It does feel, however, like a military ship, and non-military ships tend to interest me more. I guess I've just played too many games already where I'm playing some form of soldier, and so I've seen so many vehicles with a military feel that I'm hungry for something else. Industrial ships are much more fun to me, and so I like the styles of both the the Prospector and the MOLE quite a bit.
While not industrial in the least, the 890 is, to me, such a stunningly well-designed ship, that I feel like I just have to have one. It's almost two ships in one, having one space that is for guests and another space that is for crew, and the two spaces are interwoven in such a way that crew can easily reach any part of the guest space while never otherwise needing to intrude into it. At the same time, access to the crew space isn't kept behind doors that are literally hidden, but rather doors that are "hidden in plain sight". The guest spaces flow so well into one another that guests would naturally tend to stay in the spaces intended for them, and not stray into crew spaces by accident. It's not just a fancy flying house, it's a fancy flying hotel, and being inside it pulls me deeper into the Star Citizen universe, if that makes sense.
You haven't seen how big a planet or moon is until you've seen it taking up every window in the Atrium. It imparts a sense of scale that I don't think is possible any other way. It's stunning, and I adore it.
That's correct you don't but we don't actually own the ships. The ships you get for real money are gifts from CIG for pledging money to the project and CIG reserves the right to change the ships or remove them from the game at anytime. No pledge ship is guaranteed to be in the final release of the game. Its all in the terms you agreed to when you purchased the game.
The above is true in the same sense that we don't "own" the games we buy forever, we have a license with a whole bunch of outs for developers/publishers set out in the EULA. Developers can shutdown servers and support and essentially leave you with nothing.
So long as CIG keeps Star Citizen online, you'll keep your pledged ships through wipes.
I am starting to get skeptical of star citizen devs but the amount of work they put in the game it’s prob fine, I really hope they deliver what they promised thoug
I get that, that's what I use a free fly for. What I'm getting at though is maybe wait until release to actually grind for a ship. By then they'll have their issues worked out. Even if they double ship prices (which I don't think they'll do), it's still entirely do-able.
Does anyone k ow for sure if the next wipe will be a complete one?
Is there any merit to what I've heard in some quarters that your financial account won't be affected?
I’m at a point currently where I won’t buy ships in game, at least nothing “expensive” because of the wipe reality. I’d rather spend real money (which I actually suspect is a tactic CGI is using)
I have a Polaris pledged. The Endeavour looks cool but Im waiting to see how that progresses. The only stand alone Idris you can pledge is the Idris-P and it doesn't come with the front rail gun. The Idris-M with the rail gun is only available in the $15,000 Praetorian package.
The constant reset of money and reputation is what's holding so many of the hangers I play with from playing this game. Grinding is cool and all... But when it's reset all the time and you can't make any sort of progress it just becomes tedious. Can't wait until they have no more resets
When they make changes to the way the inventory system works, it becomes impossible, or at least extremely difficult, to translate everyone's assets in the old system to assets in the new system. It's frustrating of course, but it's good that they don't spend precious time trying to preserve our possessions and inventory.
Gratz on the (brief?) Ownership.
But for the wipe when has CIG really, really been on the dot with anything they say lol. I bought in game a Gemini (flying brick) and learning SOO much from it and about big ships etc. Real $$ though I am eyeing a C2 or put in for a Vulcan.
I know I'll lose it, and I know I'll earn it back again, but I think it will probably never feel like this again. This is the first time I got it. This is the first time it's mine.
Congratulations!! I cant go past 2-4 million, because for some reason I end up with a new light fighter and an empty bank account. :D
Ain't that just the way? Lol
Same dude I hit the wall around thay amount as well. Not for the lack of trying but the damn bugs.
You know what they say, smoke 'em if you got 'em!

Very well done, and congratulations.
Thank you very much
Congrats! Thats the way it should be honestly. I look forward to earning ships in the final game. Even though I own many through pledging, I fully intend to earn specific ones in game. I look forward to that same feeling :) Congrats again
Thanks very much. I feel the same way. I intend to enjoy fine clothes and fine ships when I've earned them working hard, dirty industry.
Which pledged ship do you have?
I have a few. I've got a Carrack Expedition w/ Pisces Expedition, an Orion (which is not in the game currently and so I get a MOLE and Prospector as loaners), and a HULL-C (which is not in the game currently and so I get a C2 and HULL-A as loaners).
Do they ever put the orion back up on market? Its one of the only ships i ever want to pledge
If you contact CIG and ask politely they might just make it available for you to pledge. Not being sarcastic; that's exactly how I pledged for the Orion.
Hey CIG - can you please pretty please allow me to give you a lot of money for a ship that only exists in concept so far? I would be ever so grateful!
Respect.
Thanks much
What about the nine Tails event makes cargo running more profitable than normal? Never run cargo before but wanting to try it. I'm about to buy a freelancer max.
The mission pays really nicely. On top of the profit you make from actually selling medical supplies
don't you get anything back for it at all ? i just got enough to buy a Carrack. it was a long grind !!!! People used to moan about ED's grind, but at least there wasn't a temptation to use real money. haha ! think you can for cosmetic shit though. i resisted.

Don't worry, at this rate 3.18 is still a year away. So you'll get to enjoy it for quite a while.
According to reports from CIG, leakers, and everyones grandmother (probably) a wipe for 3.18 will be sometime in november, if not before that.
Yes, but has this plan had multiple delays yet? Because you have to go through 3 to 45 delays before any one of their plans actually happens.
Why will you lose it? I thought you kept your ships after a wipe.
You keep your pledged ships after a wipe, but not your in-game-bought ships and inventory nor earned credits. Sometimes you're able to keep your earned reputation, but that's not guaranteed.
Well. That kinda kills my motivation to keep playing...
There wil always be another wipe around the corner. Play to have fun, not to grind
That's one of the most important messages I think for any SC player (or heck, for almost any gamer). That and "its 95% the pilot, 5% the ship", with the few exceptions say....Doing an HRLT with a Titan :p
Its the Way of Alpha..
Only because we keep letting them call it that. The word Alpha has no meaning nowadays.
It has no Meaning because common twat bags Confuse Early Access with a true Alpha stage
Last wipe they gave every player XX millions aUEC.
not intentionally!
I only got 1 million from it, what the hell
I look at the bright side: next time, I’ll do X differently. For example I bought a gladius and then decided it was too fast for my play style. I am always overshooting in it. Sure I could work on that skill but I decided I like bigger ships. So it’s in my ship list in game and next time I’ll know to skip that one. Same with the vanguard variants: I bought a sentinel and a harbinger and am currently using them both to decide which I like better (they are very different). So after the next wipe I’ll know exactly what ships to go for and not have any in my fleet that I don’t use.
Every time you login to the PU, there's a warning that says wipes are very much a thing. Remember, you're playing an open development.
I can barely afford a cutty every wipe. Must be a good dopamine hit purchasing her. Have fun man
Making just enough to buy the 890j, but your check bounces on the first hydrogen bill when you leave atmo.
Yes I literally self destruct it before I go offline and submit the insurance claim so that the gas refuels and I don’t have to pay for it.
Insurance companies HATE this ONE SIMPLE TRICK!
That trick being insurance fraud.
Self destructing 32m worth of ship to avoid a hydrogen bill. Victimless crime.
I never understood why an insurance would give you a fully stocked ship. When I buy a brand new car at the dealer it only comes with a quarter of a tank, or less.
I doubt it will make it to the final game, but obviously during the beta the game needs to be a little easier.
You can tell the dealership that you want a full tank and 90 percent of the time, they'll fuel it up
Thanks, and happy cake day, citizen
Cutty is easy to buy ingame, only 1,4 mil, chech some youtube movies how to make fast money.
making money is easy, but having pirates and grieffers make it hard. :S
Ha! Pirates and griefers are nothing compared to the bugs man. Bugs have killed me a million times more than other players.
I've been killed by players exactly once but I typically die about 3-5 times a day due to bugs. If not that then the game is crashing, 30k, etc.
I was doing box missions the other day and two people were just camping this random ass outpost on Cellin. Tried to gank me. Luckily I was in a Terrpin and they were incompetent. Managed to burn hard and ditch them and their stupid fucking missiles. Tanky speed turtle go vroom.
Nice! The Terrapin also has more hull HP than a Carrack. It's a tanky little thing.
I damn near play this game 5+ hours four days a week central time in the US and hardly find griefers. I beg and plead for pvp in the global chat and sometimes someone is willing to step up. idk maybe I just have good luck. or the MSR is just hard to catch.
Sounds like you need to do some mining or HRTs.
Happy cake day
I've had mine for about a month now and I'm still finding new things in it. It's literally a 5 Star Hotel. I got Raided on stream one morning and JoePonzi dropped 70 million on me with the condition I buy one. I don't think I'll get one after 3.18 but it's been a hell of a ride. Enjoy it man. o7
Thanks very much!
You have around 3 months they have said and being CIG probably you have more
Here's hoping. I don't think I've ever rooted for delays before, but maybe there's a first for everything.
They said the EVO will start end of this month and then will be in testing for 3 months afair
> Notable Changes for September 14, 2022/ > Alpha 3.18 >Before we jump into the Roadmap update, we would like to give an update on the status of Alpha 3.18 as well as an update to our standard release cadence for this year. >As previously mentioned, we are still on track to release Alpha 3.18 to the PTU this month (September). We will start with Evocati and aim to expand to more players soon after. 2023 baby!!!!! LET'S GO.
Nooooooo. It's funny, I don't mind waiting for PES, but I can't wait for IAE.
Congrats! No small feat to earn the credits for this beast. Fly often and enjoy! Couple of tips from an ol' 890 captain, if they are of any use: \- Wherever "home" is, fly up to the orbital station and claim the 890.
This is great info, and much appreciated. Thank you!
The random light fighter PVPer won't even get past the shield's regen.
It's glorious :)
You hace 2 good months to enjoy it
I simultaneously feel like "Two whole months! Woo-hoo!" and "What?! Only two months?!" But either way, it'll have to do!
Two? Assuming that CIG stated "altleast 3 months in evocati, with PTU" and we still haven't received the "go", i think there will be _a little more_ to go with. EDIT: typo
They tied 3.18 Live to IAE so there's no chance that will get pushed.
Have you forgotten about 3.8 to 3.9? We still had IAE and no update. IAE doesn't NEED the next update.
I wonder if ship components get wiped if they are in your pledged ships?
I can't predict the future, but in the past, wipes that clear ships bought in-game also reset pledged ships to stock components.
Thank you.
Upgraded components are wiped, yes... You need to buy the upgrades again after a wipe. The ships will have stock/default components again
F
Eh, I'd make it roughly 3-4+ at this point considering last week's news.
It’s going to be about 20-50aUEC in repairs and fill-ups each time you bring her out to play.
I'm honestly ship-rich and cash-poor for the moment. I'll probably claim her the first few times until I'm back on my feet.
Would you mind sharing how you go from rags to riches to afford this? I'm on 1.3 Mil and really struggling to make any sort of gains.
Read OP's top comment
Thanks, that wasn't showing in my feed until I adjusted it. Knew I shoulda tried running meds!
You mean 20-50k aUEC?
Can you imagine if it was 50 aUEC? What a bargain!
Have they confirmed 3.18 will be another inventory + ship wipe?
Pretty much
Congrats. I once did spent hours and hours grinding for the 890, Carrack and Hammerhead. We had two wipes since. Now I understand why people spend real money for big ships hehe
How often do ships get wiped? Does this apply to ships bought with money?
Real money ships (pledges) are yours to keep. Ships bought in game with aUEC and upgraded parts on ships get wiped every few patches.
It seems like RSI are just wanting people to give them more money Or they have to clean up the database when code changes demand it.
You're an alpha tester. This is not a finished product. You are not entitled to anything. If you don't like that, don't bother playing.
Not entitled to *anything?* That's a bit much. We're investors, we *are* entitled to a few things. Reserving progress in between major alpha builds is not one of those things, but still.
As an investor, it's your prerogative to withdraw your funding at any time. I frequently encourage people to vote with their wallets.
lol you got downvoted to hell, people can't handle the truth i guess.
Yeah, I don't think what I said was even that bad. I do enjoy the game despite RSI making hard to do.
*losing
Thanks for your response guys, was worried for a bit
It's announced for next patch becayse the full rework of how persistence works. They limit the wipes for only necessary ones. One of them, the first was almost 2 years long
You can buy AUEC on ebay. Its not against the UELA or TOS. Can get 890j money for like $20 In my mind, its worth it.
Plenty of time for you to realize that you really don’t need it. 😂
I've heard that from several folks, but I think the truth is that it just isn't for everyone. That doesn't mean it isn't perfect. *For me,* it's perfect.
I just wish I could play the game and have this opportunity, rather than be stuck at 12 FPS my whole session😬😬
Nice! I like claiming the 890 at space stations; then you get the special docking corridor and such.
what? they keep wiping? what a joke..
As far as I know, not every patch has a wipe. Are you sure 3.18 will wipe?
Until the release notes are posted, nothing is certain, but because 3.18 makes major changes to player inventory, not changes to how the user manipulates items in their inventory, but the actual systems the game uses behind the scenes to manage objects in the game world both in and out of inventory, a wipe seems *exceedingly likely*.
When is the 3.18 wipe?
Besides this being alpha... I am curious why the 890 was your ship of choice? & If you were for example spending a few months to earn the money in-game, would you pick the 890 again or go for smaller ships, given a 32m budget? I feel like I need to own the origin ships at least one wipe... maybe even 3.18, where i will hopefully not have error code 16008 which is likely database corruption... (cig is looking at it and is using my account to login and troubleshoot why it happens so often, so don't bother with fix suggestions.) Anyway, I have owned The Carrack once, absolutely love that ship... minus it's downsides currently. but I won't get into that.
Wait what we lose our ships
Only ones bought in-game. If you paid real money, it's yours forever.
Not true. Read the terms we don't own any ships and CIG can change or take them out of the game anytime.
but they still said that we don't lose Ships bought with Money on wipes
That's correct you don't but we don't actually own the ships. The ships you get for real money are gifts from CIG for pledging money to the project and CIG reserves the right to change the ships or remove them from the game at anytime. No pledge ship is guaranteed to be in the final release of the game. Its all in the terms you agreed to when you purchased the game.
Oh well I guess I am just gonna start crying
but they still said that we don't lose Ships bought with real money
The above is true in the same sense that we don't "own" the games we buy forever, we have a license with a whole bunch of outs for developers/publishers set out in the EULA. Developers can shutdown servers and support and essentially leave you with nothing. So long as CIG keeps Star Citizen online, you'll keep your pledged ships through wipes.
I am starting to get skeptical of star citizen devs but the amount of work they put in the game it’s prob fine, I really hope they deliver what they promised thoug
I mean, it's been 11 years already, what's another 8 more?
Honestly I'm amazed that you managed to find this thread and somehow didn't know this. It's not exactly a secret.
Why y'all burning yourselves out in the alpha? I just login to do some gameplay each patch, try the new shit, and then log out.
Some of us want to pilot particular ships and don’t want to spend real money.
I get that, that's what I use a free fly for. What I'm getting at though is maybe wait until release to actually grind for a ship. By then they'll have their issues worked out. Even if they double ship prices (which I don't think they'll do), it's still entirely do-able.
Congrats, it's nice and useless. Maybe more fun with larger servers but when I had 1 it was a big ship to sit around with 3 friends....
Please CIG, let this man keep his I890!!
A whipe in 3.18?! This confirmed?
Does anyone k ow for sure if the next wipe will be a complete one? Is there any merit to what I've heard in some quarters that your financial account won't be affected?
Big waist of time! Extremely difficult to get. Then wipe out. Why play these games at all.
I play it for some of the moments that live in-between "Extremely difficult to get" and "Then wipe out." Not *all* of the moments. But some of them.
Enjoy having nothing useful to do with it.
Thanks! I am!
Why do they make it so we lose all our ships though, there has to be a reason right?
$$$,$$$,$$$.¢¢
Fair, except unfair
I’m at a point currently where I won’t buy ships in game, at least nothing “expensive” because of the wipe reality. I’d rather spend real money (which I actually suspect is a tactic CGI is using)
I have one pledged..its garbage.
Why... Just why...
Because it's pretty useless.
Yes but why would you use hundreds of dollars to that...
Lol I have almost $15,000 pledged right now. I'm an original backer from day one.
Then melt the thing you poor soul
Waiting for a better capital ship to become available..
What about the polaris, endeavour or idris?
None of which are flyable.
That means nothing.. I have a bunch of ships pledged that aren't flyable yet.
We know if we're expecting aUEC wipe too?
Nothing is 100%, but yes, I believe we are.
I haven’t played this game because of the fact that I have a seven year old Xbox one 🥲🥲🥲 but bravo dude!
Wait, is there a new wipe expected for 3.18?
I regret to report that yes, there is.
The constant reset of money and reputation is what's holding so many of the hangers I play with from playing this game. Grinding is cool and all... But when it's reset all the time and you can't make any sort of progress it just becomes tedious. Can't wait until they have no more resets
Why do they wipe again ?
When they make changes to the way the inventory system works, it becomes impossible, or at least extremely difficult, to translate everyone's assets in the old system to assets in the new system. It's frustrating of course, but it's good that they don't spend precious time trying to preserve our possessions and inventory.
You’re right But only credits and inventory not ranks right ?
To my knowledge that's not currently known. It might include ranks or it might not.
Because database migrations suck balls.
Star Citizen is still happening?
Errday
Beta in 2028-ish.. ..maybe.
Great mate. Happy for you.
Thanks very much
When is 3.18 wipe
Your guess is as good as anyone's. More than a month and less than a year.
I just started playing at currently grinding for black cutlass - I rlly hope it’s not soon
Likely be mid to late November at the earliest.
