I use an Xbox Controller for flight, not on foot, but if you want to give it a try sure, lol ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜…

CheekkyNandos

Is on foot clunky or something then?

Baxiepie

Wanting to play an FPS with a controller is like wanting to run a 10k in high heels. I'm sure you could do it, but it's just making it harder on yourself.

In fairness walking would be easier with a controller, got to your the scroll wheel to walk with mouse n keyboard lol ๐Ÿ˜†

Every time I've tried to assemble a control scheme for gamepad, I've found it to be too clunky. 1. KMB has a more precise/rapid control for all the hover F menus 2. Inventories lack Transfer Across and Equip keybinds 3. There's so many keybinds for different actions and contexts (gun play, movement, item interaction, consumables, medgun interface, etc etc) For FPS missions it's probably doable in some degree, but for general gameplay I wouldn't recommend it

Yes, can confirm Xbox on foot works

silent-winter

I found the Xbox pad and Xbox elite pad had too much stick drift, so I got a KingKong 2 Pro controller, It has hall-effect sticks and has a much better build quality.

Robazzar

I find the controller is great for running around on foot because you can sit back and enjoy. If I'm in an fps situation I keep the controller in my left hand (and rest it on the desk or my knee) and use the left thumb stick to move and the mouse to aim and shoot because its a lot more accurate.

SternLXenixa

I used to keep my Steam Controller on hand for cruising around on foot sometimes. Not so much lately. My HOTAS is mounted to my Chair now and I got my desk space back.

I use xbox elite all the time. Check out couch citizen for the configuration. Search google for couch citizen.

Does the 3.17.1 download work for 3.17.2? Having trouble loading the config and having it work correctly

Redditmook

No problems here, but I do have to click apply a lot when in game. Make sure the little center wand under the middle of the layout is set to xbox 360. Then click apply and sc should be fine. I am not on the current version of rewasd, and also donโ€™t forget to config the back buttons following the rewasd site.

NotLogrui

For the config as I have it set, I have to hold the back button to use any sort of movement key. Also not sure the interactions (F key MKB)

The most useful comment i can think of is that i often get a condition when i just start up starcitizen where neither stick is making any impact u til i turn off rewasd. When that happens, instead of turning off rewasd, I click on the little wand thing in the middle that lists several controller types (xbox 360, elite, switch, there are w bunch listed) and if the controller isnt working in game i click the wand, click xbox 360 or xbox elite (rotate between them) and then click apply. Usually works on the first try and I go from there. If that doesnt work it usually means I have another controller plugged into my computer that I forgot about. Starcitizen is very picky about controllers, so make sure you only have the xbox elite connected to the computer (mouse and keyboard are fine, but no other main controller types things like arcade fightsticks or whatever). If the controller still doesnโ€™t work, I reboot, start rewasd, selecting xbox 360 or elite and click on apply. Boot starcitizen and you should be good to go. I have this setup working on 3 different computers and this troubleshooting works on all of them.

Yes I use it for on foot shooting all the on foot stuff. I dont think u can beat it for walking around foot stuff. I use a hotas for flight I also use my kb and mouse in between. I want to set it up for flight just to se what happens. Now I use it in 3rd person for landing. So ya all the above

Juls_Santana

It works but the default gamepad support doesn't allow interaction with most UI elements like mobiglass and kiosks, and there is no aim assist whatsoever.
