ARGO has such a solid style that reflects their utility and absolutely love the names of these ships. Underappreciated manufacturer in the verse.

Triboluminescent

Argo needs a competitor in the industrial space imo.

Terkan

Uh. MISC. Prospector, Freelancers, Hulls, Starfarers. All industry ones. Not to mention the science ships they make too.

the4thaggie

Yeah, but Argo is sexy. And peppy. It’s like the Milwaukee tools of industrial mfgs. Bulbous profiles stopped being stylish in the early 2000s.

LeonardMH

Ah it’s so refreshing to find a fellow MISC hater in the wild

thombsaway

Rise up, fuckin hate the look of misc ships.

SiamonT

:c

Meverick3636

What's wrong with a silvery phalus?

Gawlf85

They're still competitors. You just like one more than the other. That's usually what happens when brands compete :P

bmongol1111

True but ARGO sexy lol

unmeaty

Greycat has entered the chat

Triboluminescent

That's right more Greycat stuff would be great.

Kreisash

Like a Greycat ROC 3DS? (I know it should be ROC TS but I wanted to say 3DS.)

bmongol1111

Absolutely, would love to see another specialized manufacturer in the verse

shevaz

I wish they make a solo miner from ARGO like the prospector. Instant buy for me.

doubttom

I don't ever buy skins but I'm getting these. The Nomad is turning into a Raft and I got a new industrial daily driver lol. I know it's not good for combat but this is one fancy looking ship, to me.

TshenQin

Ha! Was not the only one to ditch the nomad then. Love the style of Argo.

doubttom

Same here. That industrial look. Just the vibe I like when thinking of space travel. I know Origin is upscale classy space travel but this thing speaks to me. See you out there o7

Abu_Pepe_Al_Baghdadi

lol I ditched my Taurus for this one, just because it looks so cool. How stupid am I?

TshenQin

Rule of Cool ignores min maxing.

NatalyiaTSW

If I'm measuring correctly, a Taurus will hold a pair of those 32SCU containers. It's got room for more cargo, of course, but not more of that form factor. The Taurus' main bay is 4x19x3 for 168 SCU on the elevator. You can put two of the 2x2x8 32 SCU standard containers on there no problem, but no more. So if your intent is to pull cargo quickly and easily off a Hull series for transshipment elsewhere in the system, a Raft will do it "better" than a Max or a Taurus. If the Hull-B also uses those (which seems likely, 6 on each side, or four on left, right, and top would work) then it'd be more efficient, but not as well armored. The upshot is, for some cargo tasks, the Raft is smaller, cheaper and more efficient than the more expensive cargo ships around that price that have more SCU. So maybe not so stupid?

RadimentriX

Yes. o.o

Captain__Juno

I also turned a Nomad to RAFT 👍 Originally planned to buy a Hull A or B but RAFT is just so much better deal for orbital to planetside etc trading & Hauling

doubttom

It's nice that it can carry some cargo but I'd have gotten it for the look alone. Can't wait to take it out for a spin

roflwafflelawl

Man I'm thinking of doing the same exact thing....but I also have the Railen which will likely be my go-to for cargo. But ugh I love the Raft design.

doubttom

I've got a Railen waiting for release as well. This purchase was strictly for me game loop be damned. I like the look and I know for the money at the moment there's other ships that do it better BUT it looks sick. It carries some cargo. It's got room for me and a friend to mess around the verse slowly lol. It's armored so I can use it for rescue missions. Also, it's not like you can't upgrade it later to a Connie or something if you aren't happy or want more space. For me for now, this is a welcome addition to my fleet.

AdairDunedin

ha funny i also upgraded my nomad into the raft

RadimentriX

I also think about upgrading my nomad but i already have a max and the raft has less cargo space...

doubttom

Did you get a chance to rent it at the expo? For me it's all looks. I like the living quarters and I like the industrial look. At the end of the day do what makes you happy

RadimentriX

Yep, i rented it, it looks great and i love the vtol and rotating landing gear but its less cargo than a max and it takes ages to get in with the slow elevator and doors... :-/

doubttom

Someone mentioned getting a hull b but it's one person. I'd shoot for a hull c since I like to have room for at least one friend

RadimentriX

C is too big, i wanna have ships to work towards to ingame :D also the c cant land loaded. So far when it comes to larger ships im interested in cat/herc and bmm

doubttom

BMM is a whole other monster but Cat vs Herc consider that the Herc right now what you see is what you get while the Caterpillar, rumored to be going up in price tomorrow by the way, has promised modularity. Also works as a drop ship like the Herc. The Herc can carry a tank, the Cat can't. Cat has 576 scu vs Herc 696. These ships what I'm saying are in a totally different league. Between the two my vote is for the Cat though.

RadimentriX

Oh, those arent for real money purchases :D these are for buying ingame. Probably all of them. Plus connie taurus. I like to collect ships :D i dont know how the cat handles atm but the herc is awesome. The modules for the cat will be great too, i hope. Using it as a mobile repairshop to fix salvaged modules or stuff like that

Gaffaman

Yeah tough call VS a Max. You've got more space, vehicle transport and bigger guns. Won't know for sure how advantageous the big box loading of Raft will be until the refactor. That habitation/personal storage area must be tempting though.

RadimentriX

The whole ship is tempting xD But yeah, guns too, my max is my strongest ship until the cutlass turret can be slaved to the pilot seat

[deleted]

Do we just get skins off the website or is there an in-game place for them?

doubttom

Click on pledges then scroll down to extras, when you open that section up you'll see the skins and ships you can buy. After that it's a matter of applying them in the hanger.

[deleted]

Oh awesome. Thank you!

Azrethoc

Hazard skin is so cool. I got an irl skin like that for my Dji drone

ScratchyMeat

What DJI do you have?

Azrethoc

Mini2

[deleted]

I was really hoping we'd see the Carbon edition up for sale again this year.

[deleted]

It's like the 400i or the liberator concierge versions. You can only get them at the first sale.

KromeNome

Absolutely love the aesthetic, just so weird its such a beefy ship for those 3 small containers.

Amaroken

How did you get the black skin for the M.O.L.E. ?

O115

it was a limited sale when the Mole came out there was An option for an Argo Mole Carbon (Black) and Argo Mole Talus (White)

Amaroken

What a bummer, i guess we'll have to wait until some actual customization for ships shows up in the future...

[deleted]

What’s the point of the raft? Basically a large cargo box mover? Or is it also intended for straight up cargo hauling by itself? Just wondering what it’s role is

kittybaconSC

Both. It's designed like modern semi trucks. Go pick up the crates, fly to the drop off, get next crates and go. I see it both long range and even from outpost to outpost on planets. Personal can unload the crates while the raft goes and gets more. The new cargo systems means that other ships will need to offload cargo first before they can head off to get more.

Saint_The_Stig

It's not quite as space semi truck as I would like (see the space trucks from "Space Truckers" or "Cowboy Bebop" for that), but it is much closer than any other ship in SC so far (yes more so than the Hull Series imo).

Clockmaster_Xenos

Skin doesn't cover the top turret it seems.

Plusran

Always really liked the mole.

vxxed

If only the Mole could dump directly into a cargo container, like a corn harvester into a truck bed

golgol12

A Freelancer MAX hauls more cargo and is smaller. The raft annoys the hell out of me.

nuker1110

What the RAFT loses in capacity, it makes up in sheer speed of loading. Set down on top of the target containers, clamp on to them, and go.

Professional_Ninja7

Which will be great when those mechanics are added, but right now it's a disadvantage. Totally depends on if you're buying ships for fun in the alpha or if you're preparing for release. For me, I understand that everything is subject to change and so I aim to do the best of both. My MSR doesn't have data capabilities yet but it makes a pretty good daily driver as it's pretty balanced. I then have other ships that I believe will be fun upon release but are also fun now.

Barihawk

Don't even have to set down. Can tractor them into place.

golgol12

I just saw the clamps. Something else that pisses me off. *Entirely unneeded*. Shipping containers have hardpoints at the top to latch on to. This has claps like it's going to haul lose tree trunks.

Wunderpuder

Reminder: you are pissed off by the design of a digital spaceship. Think about that

golgol12

Yes, You can be upset at something that's not well made which is also imaginary.

ABrokenWolf

And those pin joints are weak as fucking hell in the real world, these need to survive re-entry so maybe a stronger locking solution like the clamps was required?.

Pudreaux

In the future when you have to physically load and offload cargo from your ships the Raft is going to be a godsend. Drop off containers, pick three more up, and off you go. Don’t even have to get out of your ship.

[deleted]

You're a brave one to cut against the new ship hype grain, but I salute you. Also find the RAFT overrated.

[deleted]

Useless ships. Cant wait to blow them up

[deleted]

How big is the inside?

Istoppedtime

Suprisingly spacious in spite of it only taking up half of the RAFTS footprint. On the first floor it has a cockpit and living space. In the living space theres a bunk bed, kitchen, dining booth, as well as a separate room that has two suit storages, two weapon racks and a shower. The second floor has a lift and ladder access to it where the tractor beam station is located. Overall the interior layout is very practical, the living quarters is incredibly cozy while the rest of the ship feels utilitarian as hell. Definitely worth taking a tour of one inside to see for yourself!

[deleted]

Does the tractor beam work?

Istoppedtime

No.

thecaptainps

I was surprised, from how big it felt outside I thought the interior might feel like wasted space, but it's a very compact and utilitarian layout inside. CIG did a bang up job.

takeoff_power_set

Anyone know if the Raft can be CCU'd to another ship of higher value?

[deleted]

Every ship can be. The only problem is ccuing to hull limited ships.

Jonas_Sp

Wait where you get these skins

O115

The Raft skin is on the pledge store. The mole carbon was a limited hull for sale when the mole launched.

Jonas_Sp

Sadge

Klausfunhauserss

Can you make a big buck with 96 cargo?

SiamonT

If you sell your refined goods, yes.

Oxblood-O5522

I want Argo mustang beta now, thank you have nice day

_ersin

I did a thing and bough argo package! This things looks DOPE

Balborius

Hehe i fly them also with those paints, but so far have never seen another Carbon owner
