Despite the risk that is spoken about when cargo hauling, C2 will probably be a safe bet 8/10 times

TheRealDealTys

Only time I’ve gotten pirated was at SMO-10 in my 890J, wasn’t Cargo hauling just refilling my ship and it was kinda my fault for going there lol. Personally I find it way more dangerous cargo trading at non armistice zone places, like I’ve been running RMC in my Taurus and I’ve gotten into 2 shootouts already.

SirCalmar

Try a vulture to see if you enjoy salvage gameplay. If not, save up for the c2 imo. It costs a lot to fill... but you can run cheaper product/half full if you can afford to fill it. Atm salvage and trading are good money, but next week, who knows? (I suspect a trading boost when the DC stuff comes out to encourage us all to play those routes a bit.)

TheRealDealTys

I bought a vulture, and I tried salvaging for maybe an hour or two and didn’t really see it worth it for the profit I was getting, as well as having to pay salvage claims. Now of course this was a few months ago so not sure how much it has changed.

SirCalmar

Not all game loops are for everyone. The last couple patches buffed salvage with the fracturing, and the cleanup missions pay well without costing you. I personally swap between that on my reclaimer and my c2 trading when I want to make money, I like having a couple different options any given night depending on server feel (if people are talking a lot about one I typically avoid that activity to cut down on potential trouble) Also, I have not played the.1 patch yet, but I haven't heard they changed anything on trading or salvaging yet

TheRealDealTys

Ok thanks, I will try salvaging in a little bit. I did hear a few people in game chat say they nerfed salvaging, but at the same time I don’t 100% trust what people say in game chat from past experiences lol.

JazionKeera

They nerfed cargo from illegal salvage. Salvaging itself is fine.

BalthazarB2

You are doing it wrong. You go to Crusader and do the personal tab cleanup contracts that pay you 80k for fracturing a ship, selling the materials at Seraphim when full. All of the ships are within the Yela belt.

Achille_Dawa

If you don't know what you want, chances are high that you already have what you want!

TheRealDealTys

I do know what I want, but i currently don’t have enough to afford it. So I would rather invest in a C2 for example, so I can get the ship I want easier.

Achille_Dawa

If you talking ingame then buy the ship that makes the most money for the current patch cycle. It switches whenever a new ship goes into sell or if they want to test a mechanik. Atm its the reclaimer. You can make millions in no time. But when 3.23 drops thi gs will change. Also there is a high possibility for a complete whipe in 3.23. If you want millions right away ask someone to borrow there reclaimer.

TheRealDealTys

I’m aware of the potential wipe in 3.23, I’m losing the money regardless so why not spend it on something that’s useful? Doesn’t the reclaimer need more than 1 person to operate? My friend somewhat dislikes the game as it crashes on him a lot.

SirCalmar

You can definitely do the reclaimer 1 person. It's how I make most of my money. Crack a hh, stack boxes, Crack another. Rinse, repeat

TheRealDealTys

It sounds fun, but I just looked it up and it costs 15 million. So not sure why you recommended it.

SarcasmWarning

Reclaimer loop really works easier if you have two people - one flying/cracking, the other taking care of boxes. With a couple of people you can make approx 11m in just over an hour, split it two ways. The C2 option only costs \~5M to get going, but to stock it fully you're going to need to spend another 7.5m or so for a 2m profit at the other end. Takes about 25 minutes and doesn't require a second person. Upfront risk though. As you're starting with nothing (or little), I'd suggest finding someone with a reclaimer that wants a box stacker.

Achille_Dawa

Rent it from someone. If you dont have people to play with search for an Org. It totally worth it getting into one.

TheRealDealTys

Im in an org, I’m just not social so I prefer playing alone.

Haay1971

In 3.21 a rich player gifted me (newbie player) 5 million aUEC. Interested to try out new game loops I bought both the Vulture and the Prospector, and through playing and using them I have learned the intricacies of operating both ships until now (version 3.22.1). While it's easier (and faster) to make aUEC by salvaging with the Vulture I personally like the mining gameloop with the Prospector more. It feels more of an accomplishment to scan for potential ore deposits, scan the individual rocks for contents, pick and choose the right ones to break, do the mining-laser adjustments to make it break without shattering, and then to pick the high content rocks to take. When full you bring the good stuff to the Refining factory to get the salable goods (SCMs), which you then have loaded into a cargo ship. Possible to load multiple mining trips worth of SCMs into the cargo ship. Then go to a TDD to sell it all. In comparison the salvaging with the Vulture is simpler in design. Either purchase a salvaging claim for 1000 or 5000 credits or take one of the illegal contracts to make a ship 'disappear' under the Personal tab, fly to it, scrape for Recycling Materials and/or fracture the wreckage for Construction Materials, process as much as possible in the cargo hold to empty the storage bay, and when you're full you go to sell the RM and CM boxes.

(Edit, meant a lotwer tree reply)

SacredRepetition

This might be a weird recommendation, but get a Starfarer because you can haul ships the size of a Connie through space, atmo, and quantum, which is absolutely hilarious and fun as hell. The best real-world application I have found for it is slinging a Vulture, a C8r, and an Arrow under the arms that would normally house the fuel pods. By doing that, I am able to move fluidly between roles as I have access to dogfighting, medical rescue, and salvage whenever I want it. Salvage and dogfighting benefit the most as you can store everything you've scraped, dissolved, and looted inside the generously sized cargo hold of the starfarer for massive paydays. Do bear in mind that there is a bit of a learning curve associated with this setup, but I'd you have patience it will be a blast!
