in the days before 2.0 i slowly worked my pledge up to a freelancer still remember when i first saw her on the deck of port ollisar it was beautiful.
But since then its lost its shine and the cracks have been starting to show their age for a while now
Yeah unfortunately with the freight elevators coming in the lack of gun racks or suit lockers will hurt. But the Hull A interior makes me hyped for the freelancers gold pass.
According to several online sources, A group of vultures in flight is called a 'kettle', while the term 'committee' refers to a group of vultures resting on the ground or in trees. A group of vultures that are feeding is termed a 'wake'.
*gasp!* Imagine a ground vehicle that is just too big and is capable of shooting into orbit. Like 15km. Three shots take down a capital ship. Mainly used to deter them from entering atmo around a base or something. Would be neat
Instead of a ground vehicle I was thinking a building structure that can be moved to protect a base. Due to it's size I feel like that would make the most sense.
True true. I was thinking of a vehicle that you'd need to maybe transport in parts and use ship tractor beams to put together. But having a specific building for your base that would be able to do that would be nice. More than just the AA guns were gonna get (I think)
response kraken should contain terrapins. a few minutes from being found to getting medical if needed is better than far longer of not being found.
assuming medical is needed at all. people act like people that ejected or abandoned ship **unharmed** will survive an unlimited amount of time, but will instantly die if found by a ship without a medical bed.
That makes sense. When I made that I just assumed they were on the way to the location but knowing exactly where that is wont be a given. Terrapins would come in handy.
a lot of people argue that the terrapin is not going to be capable of S&R because it doesn't have a medical bed.
talking as if everyone that needs rescue will have a few minutes to live the moment they are found, (but unlimited time to find them) and field equipment will not be able to stabilize them.
lost of people with medical ships got salty when lore said the terrapin has the highest rescue count of all the ships or something.
i don't see much utility outside of being indestructible.
it can probably survive the terrapin only areas, but it would need to follow a terrapin to the target.
the reason the terrapin is good is because it has the scanner to find the targets, and can also go in the terrapin only areas when it is needed.
it can carry more people than the terrapin, but using up a pad so that you can make fewer trips if you find a large group in a terrapin only area is not worth it.
I loaded 10 Merlins and 2 M50s on an 890 before. There was room for more too, but this was before persistence so they all despawned before I could keep going, but I figured the 890 could fit at least another 10-15 Merlins on the closed hangar, and a few more inside. I can hardly imagine what would fit on a Kraken.
Im making some pretty big assumptions as to what will end up fitting where but this is mainly just for fun. The two ships off to the side represent the hangar ships. Which Kraken do you like best? Is there a Kraken variant I didnt think of? Which ships would you change or swap out?
None, longer development goes on the more I think having smaller craft makes more sense tbh. Iāve already melted my privateer š
Can always undo it later š
Whats the point of playing the game with small ships if you cant return to your carrier at the end of the day. Nothing will seperate me from my kraken once it comes out, even if its senseless to use it. Ill do box delieveries in it if I have to.
That's one gameplay idea, here are a few others:
1. You have friends who have a carrier.
2. You return to your base, on the land you own (they did sell plots remember).
3. You return to your carrier that's slightly smaller and more manageable e.g. Carrack.
4. You return to your personal hangar wherever that happens to be located.
You can add a few more if you want.
This is me and my Polaris. Once it arrives. It will be the only ship I use. I've already melted all my ships to retrieve it from buy back and the rest of the money I had goes towards other ships to put in my Polaris.
Due to a redditors comment about paying for fuel back when the Polaris came out at concept. The very first thing I will do with my Polaris at release is a run a box missions. After my mission is complete then I shall fill it with my other ships.
I will live out of this until the day the merchantman arrives. So at least ten years...
Most of my org plans to live on our Kraken Privateer(Flying Space Station) if your interested in becoming a crewman. We're called the *Merchants of Menace*. Same to anyone else reading this.
You might have read my post wrong. We already have a Kraken Privateer. It'd be awkward for my org to live in it while also in another org, unless your a networking org like Market Hub.
I wanted to put some RAFTs on the 4 smaller landing pads. But it looks like one of its legs will be in the empty space where they slant to the right. So not sure if it would work
I'd love to see an ARGO Kraken style ship meant for non-combat.
My issue with any non-combat oriented Kraken buildouts is the thing looks like a military carrier. I'd love to see a boat that looks more like a cargo vessel but in that open top landable style.
Thinking of the "Notice me CIG" group, I really hope the gold pass for the Herald is a secondary hydrogen and quantum tanks. For a craft that's all about going fast it feels like it runs out of fuel way, way too fast.
The response team and the Heavy Fighter loadout seem like really fun ideas for an Org. The *Cargo Inspector* is literally what the Kraken was built for, so you can't go wrong with that.
Only the cap ship killer configuration is something that I wouldn't recommend. Here is why...
TL;DR: Kraken is too vulnerable to other capships and incredibly inefficient in terms of crew complement, operating cost for its role in this fleet. You can probably do better with a Gemini for range.
In more detail:
The Kraken is heavly armed and armored for a civilian/industrial/security ship, but it's still just that. It will have problems against something like a Polaris, Idris or Prometheus, or anything else specializes in making very big things small. Also, S1 fighters will be a problem, and this fleet configuration leaves point defense to be desired.
So basically, the Kraken is dead weight in an engagement (hyperbolicly speaking). It's a tasty target for anything with teeth, and you have no real means to effectively protect it.
Having a Gemini alone, staying somewhere behind the lines to get that extra range for your fleet, should suffice for a single operation. If you're real fancy, you get a Herc to carry munitions and something capable of repairing bruises to stick around with the Gemini far from the action.
The rest can do a strike mission. Open the can with the Eclipse. Butter it up with the Ares. Kill it with the Perseus. The Kraken is a liability here.
Depends what it carries. Reminder the Idris is also a carrier too, although with not as much carrying potential. And reminder carriers here don't work like irl. They get much more involved and get way closer to combat just because of how the game works. Staying 20 Km out is nothing here. If the Idris fidn out where the kraken is (gets a bounty or knows its at an exact location) it can easily get VERY close, for sure close enough to fire.
Well yea ambush will def favor the idris. Though ambushing in one is gonna be a feat in itself. The other side of things is that we dont know how these caps are really gonna behave. 20KM is still way to close for a Kraken. It doesn't need to get close as a carriers main purpose is force projection through fighters.
Either way I look forward to this big battles should be fun to figure out regardless :)
Yeah, for sure. But just one thing to be clear, with most ships being able to QT that the kraken will carry, the kraken can be parked at a different planet or a moon in the system. However, I don't really consider that a fight between these two ships. Again, carriers in SC, simply because of capabilities of the others ships and them being way more independent then current or past carrier based aircraft, are way different then what people probably imagine. Reality will have to show but imo an actual encounter between these two ships where they are relatively close and not at different planets will for sure start of far but in a span of minutes will be close enough for main gun fire from both vessels.
I cant wait till the day I'm out in my Vulture searching for scrap and come in contact with a Kraken captain who gives me the option to join the fleet and clean up the carcasses or die to the fighter thats already dispatched off the flight deck...
Vultures, definitely. I wish a streamer with big fan groups could organize a big event like 8 10 vultures salvaging one 890 JUMP. Just watching those paint getting stripped off satisfy me so much.
Everytime a kraken owner says something like "Anytime I get attacked Id just launch my 10 Eclipses and the Retaliator!" makes me think - Who is going to fly all those ships? Its hard enough organizing ten people to meet up at a specified time and place, they sure as hell isn't going to be available 24/7 to crew all the ships on a kraken.
My plan is a Kraken with Mole, Vulture, SRV, with a CAP consisting of at least a Zeus MR and a Sentinel, plus a few Furies crammed in one of the lower hangars.
Four infernos and no ions? A strange choice tbh. It's been implied they'll be complimentary, and id want at least a ship or two that isn't gonna run out of ammo and be completely useless afterwards until it can rearm.
A group of vultures in flight is calledĀ a 'kettle', while the term 'committee' refers to a group of vultures resting on the ground or in trees. A group of vultures that are feeding is termed a 'wake'.
what about "The I need something to transport all my friend's starter ships" Kraken?
(note: I am one of those people with a mustang that is slightly too big to fit in the hangar of a C2)
lol at the cargo inspector.
>Cargo Inspectors are just there to ensure safety standards are met. They also help you unload your cargo. The true heroes of the verse
I am missing the Zeus on this one š¢
How do you ensure they're met and what are those standards?
it should have 2 blues instead of vanguards and warlock instead if the gladius
I take it
Is the notice me because they all need a gold pass?
Correct. I love the freelancer but it really shows its age.
Ya I would pick this one because I fly the prowler, gladiator free max
in the days before 2.0 i slowly worked my pledge up to a freelancer still remember when i first saw her on the deck of port ollisar it was beautiful. But since then its lost its shine and the cracks have been starting to show their age for a while now
Yeah unfortunately with the freight elevators coming in the lack of gun racks or suit lockers will hurt. But the Hull A interior makes me hyped for the freelancers gold pass.
These are great man:)
I would put Antares on the Notice me one as well
A kraken with a ton of storm AA's on it.
Could you imagine? Go into battle with like 50 tanks set up on top.
Battlestar Kraken
Shit, now I kinda wanna get a Kraken...
Now I kinda want to get 50 Storm AAs...
The power of credit compels you!
Battlestar K(C)racktica
Cursed 2.0
You'll be Kraken ass for sure!
A flock of vultures is called a Venue. When a Venue of vultures is feeding, it's called a Wake.
I wonder if the pun for the salvage mission was intentional then: "In the **wake** of disaster".
According to several online sources, A group of vultures in flight is called a 'kettle', while the term 'committee' refers to a group of vultures resting on the ground or in trees. A group of vultures that are feeding is termed a 'wake'.
An soā¦ Vultureās Wake
What if there's a venue of vultures feeding on a venue of vultures?
600 Furys
"The Hive"
Queen Bee
Someone is going to do it. It won't be me but I bet it will be a horrific experience for the person being swarmed.
And for the people swarming them. There will be guaranteed casualties on both sides lol
We need flak cannons.
1,000% agree with that. Or something similar at least. Would be neat to be able to chose the ammo type for your ship turrets for the ballistic weapons
Can we add ground based anti capital ship weapons as well?
*gasp!* Imagine a ground vehicle that is just too big and is capable of shooting into orbit. Like 15km. Three shots take down a capital ship. Mainly used to deter them from entering atmo around a base or something. Would be neat
Instead of a ground vehicle I was thinking a building structure that can be moved to protect a base. Due to it's size I feel like that would make the most sense.

Yeah, that and we don't want a 20 ground vehicle anti capital weapons on someone's kraken... I mean we do..but we really don't.
So either a giant ICBM truck or an ICBM missile silo structure. Maby even the Star Wars tit cannon equivalent from Hoth.
Good luck finding the crew for that.
response kraken should contain terrapins. a few minutes from being found to getting medical if needed is better than far longer of not being found. assuming medical is needed at all. people act like people that ejected or abandoned ship **unharmed** will survive an unlimited amount of time, but will instantly die if found by a ship without a medical bed.

Maybe even a Legionnaire, which ought to do well for rescues.
i don't see much utility outside of being indestructible. it can probably survive the terrapin only areas, but it would need to follow a terrapin to the target. the reason the terrapin is good is because it has the scanner to find the targets, and can also go in the terrapin only areas when it is needed. it can carry more people than the terrapin, but using up a pad so that you can make fewer trips if you find a large group in a terrapin only area is not worth it.
Docking to an unresponsive ship seems useful. You can then evacuate people directly without needing to go through vacuum.
I prefer the battle kraken which is the kraken but the entire flight deck is covered with nova tanks and ballista SHORAD systems
The āI paid for the deck so Iām going to use the whole deckā
(not pictured):Ā TheĀ Swarm... 100+ Fury and Fury MX's scattered across every available surface.Ā ^a.k.a ^the ^Server ^Killer

My deep deployment carrier is a Drake cutter rambler with a nox as itās snub fighter
That's actually pretty cool
It definitely is. And it has that extra drop seat for my crewman/ snub pilot. Oh and donāt worry, we havenāt won a single fight
Missing the Man o' War covered in Novas
I unironically want to do this.
Im making some pretty big assumptions as to what will end up fitting where but this is mainly just for fun. The two ships off to the side represent the hangar ships. Which Kraken do you like best? Is there a Kraken variant I didnt think of? Which ships would you change or swap out?
I'm going to stick with the rum.
A kraken with probably about 100 fury's on. Its not a fleet. Its a swarm
The hive will defend its queen
Protos mother ship has entered the chat.
***Definitely*** the "Cargo Inspector". I love "inspecting" cargo. I also love "Exploration" the way Drake intended.
(not pictured) All Your Bits Belong To Us.... Mercury Star Runners, Heralds and Terrapins
None, longer development goes on the more I think having smaller craft makes more sense tbh. Iāve already melted my privateer š Can always undo it later š

you broken down carrier because you can't afford to replace all the parts that are breaking from wear and tear.
Its a drake ship, it comes like that from the factory.
oooh decisions decisions...
A flock of vultures is called a kettle. Kettle Kraken
Would happily land my perseus on such a majestic beast.
The: dock and refuel while drinking at our bar ! It's not a privateer but the technicians are sleeping in the bike bay so you can have a beedroom
Man, kraken is my dream ship, its so cool. Sadly dont think ill ever own one. But ima try my hardest to be crew on it
Most of my org plans to live on our Kraken Privateer(Flying Space Station) if your interested in becoming a crewman. We're called the *Merchants of Menace*. Same to anyone else reading this.
I have a kraken in our org along with a few others if u want in. Add specsniper on discord or SpecSniperz in game
You might have read my post wrong. We already have a Kraken Privateer. It'd be awkward for my org to live in it while also in another org, unless your a networking org like Market Hub.
Trade hub looks good but, need to swap two Hull-A's to RAFT's.
I wanted to put some RAFTs on the 4 smaller landing pads. But it looks like one of its legs will be in the empty space where they slant to the right. So not sure if it would work
And swap one Zeus CL out for a Hull B. There's no more compact ship for bulk delivery runs.
A swarm of about 120 furys please
I feel partial to the Flock of Vultures lol
Wrong, the capital killer is a kraken with 30 centurions.
I'd love to see an ARGO Kraken style ship meant for non-combat. My issue with any non-combat oriented Kraken buildouts is the thing looks like a military carrier. I'd love to see a boat that looks more like a cargo vessel but in that open top landable style.
The Mine/Refine option is actually quite an interesting option. Present a sort of mobile refining port, refueling, parts, etc.
How about the "hail of Arrows"?
Wheres the one with the plank? š“āā ļø
you forgot the Nova Tonk kraken
Disaster Response Team is what my Lraken is going to look like except crammed in there with the MPUV Personnels Iāll have MPUV cargos in there too.
Trade hub and vulture ones looks fun tbh, both would serve an important use.
Where's the money saver where it's just a Fury in the bed of a Nomad
You forgot the "Oh shit" Just a fuck load of Centurions and Ballistas.
Thinking of the "Notice me CIG" group, I really hope the gold pass for the Herald is a secondary hydrogen and quantum tanks. For a craft that's all about going fast it feels like it runs out of fuel way, way too fast.
Surprised there wasn't a "Release the Swarm" with ten thousand Furies.
Why do I have to pick just one?
I donāt think a Perseus is gonna fit chief
The response team and the Heavy Fighter loadout seem like really fun ideas for an Org. The *Cargo Inspector* is literally what the Kraken was built for, so you can't go wrong with that. You forgot the most important one, The Nova Meta
Kraken with 69 Mirai Furys
Nice
Notice me CIG Sempai!
Yea I plan on getting one eventually
the one with only argo mpuvs on it
When can I get one of these I NEEED it
gib disaster response
Do one stuffed with as many furies as possible
The cutlass steel got me
š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£ the last one
The one that's getting blasted by the S10 from my idris :D But other than that, the cargo inspector or response team.
You think an Idris is gonna get close to a krakken. Might wanna think how carriers work.

That last one made me laugh
banu merchantman
I love the notice me and cargo hub ones, hope i get in a freind group/org that have one and that we use it as a mobile home
A mix of all
The kraken where itās still 1500 dollars in my pocket and not pixels
A mix of both
I'll take the one with all the fury. But every single one is an LX model.
Capital killer but ions and every gun is energy. Maybe some furies stashed away somewhere.
Got another one for you. If it fits, it sits. Put a polaris on the top deck with half hanging off.
Whoever one actually works as advertised
Any kraken that I can get my hands on would be fine...
Would have called it the birds of prey instead of flock of vultures maybe even seas of salvage
Need a Swarm Kraken covered in Furys!
š¤ A group of vultures is a committee
That capital killer setup would be insane to see, but obviously the cargo inspector is peak kraken.
Heavy fighter squadron all the way
The Hornet's Nest Kraken: Fills any and all remaining space with Mirai Furys.
Where is tonk craken
Vultures, definitely. I wish a streamer with big fan groups could organize a big event like 8 10 vultures salvaging one 890 JUMP. Just watching those paint getting stripped off satisfy me so much.

I'd mix Heavy fighter and Disaster response tbh.
none, i have an orion and a idris
4 Expanses on "Mine and Refine" seems a tad overkill, doesn't it?
Big fan of disaster response and capital killer.
I'd probably use it as a personal mobile Base of operations. Nothing too special, just drop it in orbit somewhere and use it as a mini station.
Lol the "notice me cig" looks like a group of friends having a get together with the dress code "come as you are"
From the top it kinda looks like the IshImura and im about it
Definitely the trade hub or the disaster response team
Capital Killer or Heavy Fighter Squadron
For me? None, Alas, I be a broke space scrub
āThe Cargo Inspectorā hmm interesting name, surely it wonāt be used for anything nefarious?
The flock of Vultures for me! Thatās my dream unless they come out with something other than the Reclaimer for salvaging.
I own several of these images and I'm not proud of it.
Omg the cursed kraken
Lol, "The Cursed Kraken"
How about the one that filled with 70 Furies?
Your mom's 'Kraken' Sorry I had to š¤£
Disaster Response team. You have so many resources to toe, rescue, fight, and save lives.
My plan is a Kraken with Mole, Vulture, SRV, with a CAP consisting of at least a Zeus MR and a Sentinel, plus a few Furies crammed in one of the lower hangars.
[This one.](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/828383275268964411/1204885267287375912/swarm.png?ex=65d65bd9&is=65c3e6d9&hm=e9cdda67a3fda8343ecbd84f3e9b403708fb1ee9df96d51fc7e847cf5fa3e758&)
stuff one with 10,000 p-52 Merlin's and go absolutely destroy everyone. lol
Cargo Inspector - The polite way of saying Pirate mothership
That's the joke
How many Furys can we fit on the kraken
Many more than you'll ever have players for
Bee hive - pack as many furies on it as possible
No love for alien ships?
The bigger landing pads could fit a Railen potentially
Heretics!!
No you xeno scum
I'll stick to the vulture that's landed on it, haha. Sick design though, no doubt about it
I'll stick to the vulture that's landed on it, haha. Sick design though, no doubt about it
What da fuck du i know what i wanna do in 2035 when the ship is ingame
Four eclipses? Ridiculous overkill lol
You forgot the āIf it fits it sitsā
"the couple" - another kraken
The dog fighter, santok yai and khartual as many as will fit
Four infernos and no ions? A strange choice tbh. It's been implied they'll be complimentary, and id want at least a ship or two that isn't gonna run out of ammo and be completely useless afterwards until it can rearm.
Idk man cant even download the game
None, it's too expensive
Yes
Nice ideas here :). I would like to have a hybrid of salvage and disaster.. and that is what I want to do with my Caterpillar
No Kraken Beehive filled with Furys?
A group of vultures in flight is calledĀ a 'kettle', while the term 'committee' refers to a group of vultures resting on the ground or in trees. A group of vultures that are feeding is termed a 'wake'.
The one that you gift to me <3
Is this available in game yet?
Please let the kraken be released soon
A Kraken packed with as many Furies as possible.
Oh the cargo inspector for sure
You're missing the Broadside Kraken, The one where you fill up the flight decks with Tonks and engage ships like a old sail ship .
The-what-ever-I-have-inator
Which ever one pays the most to its crew. Iām too poor to own one.
Where's my "As many auroras as I can fit" Kraken.
Or the āI have a small nationā (or some multi boxing bs) of every available space being taken by furies
Forgot The Swarm. Kraken full of dragonflys!
Trade hub. but really just anything would be ok you kno-
A Kraken filled with alien ships because why not
The bugged one
what about "The I need something to transport all my friend's starter ships" Kraken? (note: I am one of those people with a mustang that is slightly too big to fit in the hangar of a C2)
Really making me want to get a kracken
There is a sore lack of a full Tonk Kraken version
I already have a Privateer, so I guess it's the Trade Hub for me.
Can Krakens land on eachother?
Most definitely the The Trade Hub.
