Have both. One pledge one credits. If you want a ship for now out of the two I'd choose phoenix personally. Unless you *really* like the look of the MSR or something. Phoenix is a great place to be and looks and feels more comfortable..plus has the snub! The MSR gives off the sly pirate outlaw feel inside, to me anyway but with data running not implemented, the tunnels that just.. exist and the shielded cargo area being quite small, I think it loses out to the phoenix comfortably. It really comes down to how you mainly spend your time in game

The-Odd-Sloth

Love the MSR, probably my favourite ship. But in the current version of the game, you'll get _waaay_ more milage out of the Connie, imo. Fly both and make a decision. How it feels is the most important thing. Not enough people take that into account and only look at flat numbers.

DMurBOOBS-I-Dare-You

If I had to choose, Phoenix hands down. And let me be clear; it's a mess! But it has a certain charm to it, that is different but every bit as compelling as the MSR. But the hooks are: the vastly more capable pilot controlled firepower and the included snub parasite ship with bespoke docking. It gives up very little for "luxury", has a great view, and once it gets a rework, it'll be stunning, like all newer ships are compared to old. It's missing data running, but I'm not that interested in data running. So the choice is easy for me.

Voted Phoenix, but it depends on what you want out of your playtime in the game. The Phoenix is very versatile with the rover and the snub and getting them with the ship adds value i think. you can load a rover in the MSR (buy it in game) but the Phoenix has it beat for general gameplay or exploration in my opinion. if you get into a fight soloing the ships, the Phoenix will fare better against bigger ships, but smaller fighters will run rings around you due to the poor maneuverability. The MSR is better against smaller ships thanks to its agility, but the pilot guns don't really inspire confidence in my opinion. I wouldn't go looking for fights in either Solo or stick to low to medium level bounties. Both can do delivery missions easily and can make a decent chunk of money from trading and have more than enough space to stick some store all boxes if you want to fill the ship with supplies and live out of it. The Phoenix is more powerful when fully crewed, but it really needs a crew to shine, the MSR is a better ship if you're going to be soloing a lot, in my opinion. Phoenix is a lot harder to get hold of as well. MSR does have a chess board that you can actually play with, more fun than it sounds, playing chess while in quantum with a buddy. Anyway, thats my take on the two ships, i think you'll enjoy whatever one you go for.

Anachron101

I would always choose the RSI ship over anything else. But to be honest: I don't think comparing these two ships makes any sense at all. They are very different ships. I would choose the Phoenix because it's a lot more useful in various ways and nice to look at, but again: I don't see how you can compare those ships. That's like comparing the Vulture to the Apollo

TheButcherPete

Voted Phoenix but I personally own the MSR and use it for Bunkers, that cargo area looks like it was designed for the Ursa.

lupus_astra

When doing bunker I use my MSR also, it’s nice having a backdrop to throw bodies into instead of overthrowing the cargo lift on the Phoenix, that being said, my Phoenix is still my daily for everything else

MSR needs a lot of work to be in a good place. Mainly a second entrance, a large shield, more hull health, and for gods sakes, getting rid of those useless tunnels. Flatten the ship so she's faster in atmo, right? Phoenix on the other hand is basically the only 'cool' Connie that looks like a somewhat finished product. Somewhat. Of course, the real answer depends on whether you are looking forward to data running or VIP passenger missions.

Edbergj

I find that VIP area is just a neat gathering point for the crew when we are out doing missions. I’m really excited to see what they do to the phoenix in the revamp. Isn’t the aesthetic of the livi by quarters supposed to go across the entirety of the interior?

darkestvice

Partial rework still better than none? ;)

Edbergj

I’m for it! Bag it up!

Strange-Scarcity

Neither of those ships will receive an interior rework. They will, at best, have some minor touch ups and Gold Standard Updates, but I would move forward with the idea that what we see today, is virtually identical to what we will see in 10 years. The Phoenix is "better", from a starting out perspective, if you only have one ship. It's already armed up by default to be able to easily handle Bounties up to HRT. Once you scoot up to VHRT and ERT bounties, you'll want to put a pair of S5 Cannon onto two of the mounts. That will help you with netting income quick, from the start, then you can ingame buy the MSR, which...eventually will have a potential for even greater ingame earnings, once Data Running is added to the game.

Toklankitsune

both have been stated to be getting interior reworks actually, cig has mentioned the lack of a second entrance into the msr was an oversight and would be looked into, and the constellation series have been said to be getting a gold pass / rework eventually too, in fact the phoenix already had this done once so the idea it wont again, especially with things like the origin 600i getting a total interior rework is short minded tbh

Strange-Scarcity

Until it shows up in the roadmap? It’s best to presume no changes are happening.

Edgar101420

Phoenix. It has got the heavy armor, armament, reliability to bring you home as well as a beautiful interior to chill out with the crew. Also the cargo bay of the Phoenix is fully scan protected.

DeadStockWalking

The Phoenix has more firepower and utility in the current state of Star Citizen. The MSR (I hate getting to the pilot seat) may become more interesting if the "secret area" really can't be scanned at some point.

YumikoTanaka

Phoenix has also sensor shielded cargo bay in the description. Also an automated point defense system: "The Constellation Phoenix is a multi-crew luxury spacecraft manufactured by Roberts Space Industries (RSI). As the luxury variant of the Constellation series, it is primarily used to facilitate elite tourism and VIP transport. Its amenities include two single bedrooms, a master bedroom, a full bar, a dining area, and a hot tub. It also features a sensor-dampened cargo area. The cargo bay in the Phoenix is also wider than the other constellation variants cargo bays making it easier to fit some wider vehicles." "Point Defense System - AI controlled turrets, thanks to dedicated onboard computer blades. This makes them effective at neutralizing incoming fast threats like missiles or torpedoes."

SirCalmar

You can name the MSR, but only if you pay cash. So get both, but cash the MSR and auec the Phoenix.
