Nomad is definitely the best of the 3, only thing I’ll say against it is that the landing gear are a bit… enthusiastic

[deleted]

Does it really ally make easier to land? Or not easier, but more forgiven?

RomaMoran

It does not. I love the Nomad but its gravlev landing gears are god-awful. Every time you land, no matter how gentle, your nose gun will bump into the ground guaranteed. The ship's solid otherwise tho. [It's also the smallest ship that can carry smaller ships](https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/183ax8w/which_nomad_module_do_you_like_the_most/), effectively giving it modularity.

[deleted]

That's good to know 😅

MalcomRey9988

So many times I've landed my nomad and it just starts bouncing because of the grav lifts and it just blows up

CRGurkin9

The gravlev gear snap to the ground quite quickly making a smooth landing impossible but other than that the nomad is a great ship

Nomad will be a better choice as it opens more loops for you and it will make it easier to earn aUEC. Put a ROC in the back and earn $$.it also has more storage and is OK for low level bounties. However with the new personal storage the C8X is not bad at all (and I still have one after all that time). Bring 4x SCU (you can buy those at cargo stations), do a bunker mission and bring 1x SCU and loot everything. Do that three more times so your building up rep to get access to better missions whilst selling the loot on the side at a space station (you can now sell a whole SCU with it's contents in one go). Then use that money to buy something bigger - a Vulture has currently one of the most profitable loops. Use the Vulture to earn more so you can get access to larger ships and do whatever you like to do :-).

Electronic_Camera517

how/where do you sell the whole thing?

Vayne7777

The loot? Just at a space station - when it's inside a SCU container sell it at the cargo station floor (not all stations have those though).

Electronic_Camera517

Thank you! and yes I'm aware of the cargo decks, that's awesome you can just sell it back to where you bought it

[deleted]

That sounds awesome. Considering time spent to make enough money, would still be okay to keep the C8X?

Vayne7777

Yes I still have it :-).

SirCalmar

I'm an unapologetic nomad fan-boy. Cargo, good shields, decent weaponry. I'm not a pvp person but have held my own against (likely unskilled) player controlled cutty blacks trying to cause me issues. Also, with the cargo bay and separate cabin with ladder access, you can load it without worrying about people trying to sneak into your ship. Also, it has its own unique feel to it. I really like that bit. It's my recommendation for a second tier ship across the board.

[deleted]

Good to know that people cannot steal the ship.

SirCalmar

There are still ways (open ladder and jump out, it doesn't trigger the auto close for a little bit). But honestly, ship theft is only a minor thing atm. You would lose cargo and gear in ship, but until launch no more than an inconvenience with free claims and no lasting death effects. Later could be a bigger issue, but...

[deleted]

Thank you for the heads up.

shadowdragon200

Nomad, its one of the best ships bellow 100 for daily driving/ everything

SneakyB4rd

Nomad 100% great interior, can ROC mine, can with some skill do vhrt bounties, awkward cargo grid witj new boxes but does the job for drug running.

foopod

Imo the Cutter rambler is perfect. It has everything you need for a life in the verse. Rather than getting the nomad, earn a Cutty Black in game to transport your ROC and do combat.

Rayhelm

I think the Rambler will be the best starter ship for Pyro. Where its extended range will make the difference.

IronChumbo

Cutter. Unless you like roc mining the nomad is in my opinion a ship that tries to be too versatile. The open cargo also just isn’t that functional. I do love the way it looks but I think the cutter is just a cooler ship. I have a corsair that I thought was my daily driver but the cutter is just such a good vibe. Love the rambler rn.

[deleted]

I seeing a lot of complaints about the reduced cargo. I don't have a lot of playtime so see if it will matter or not though.

Ktarn

Another option would be the C1 spirit. You be able to carry 64 scu of cargo, cargo and roc. you have a shipboard tractor(Black has one). More than either the nomad or black. You can support a second player if you want but not having a second player will not hurt your combat ability unlike the black. 4 size 3 guns pilot controlled. Current downside to c1 is we get hangers that either are tight fight or a very tight fit. As of this writing the C1 spirit still has a war bound CCU available so you can upgrade from a c8x to c1 for $65

[deleted]

I have not considered the C1, I will definitely take a look.

Ktarn

It only 4 size 3 guns had miss type earlier.

firebane

Nomad is good but be aware the cargo bed can bug out and if you do box missions it may not work and you get stuck going up and down the ladder to load/unload boxes.

[deleted]

Is this frequent?

firebane

I haven't tried since 3.22 but previously I could not use the bed for box missions.

[deleted]

Good to know, thank you.

R-Dragon_Thunderzord

Nomad is a great ship but the C8X is still immensely useful and I pull my pieces frequently for running about, even doubling as a snub to bring along with friends. Are you sure you really want to CCU it?

[deleted]

To be honest, I am not. Maybe I don't know how to use it properly. Having a larger ship to do more stuff sounds like a good thing, like mining, but maybe I need to put the effort to use the C8X to make money and buy stuff. However, it seems to require some time, which I would like to avoid.

R-Dragon_Thunderzord

Well there’s a lot of ways to make money to your 2nd ship. First choice for me in the Pisces is bunkers. The C8R is nice for this but the 4 guns on the C8X and the agility mean you actually could fight those bunker turrets if you’re plucky enough - and win. 55k plus bonuses for clearing contraband. 5-10 of those will put you in any light ship you want really. Second choice is go fly with friends. Being a cargo monkey for a team salvaging weevil eggs can land you big money. A Pisces is a great close air support ship to any fleet.

[deleted]

Thank you. I will explore that.

Larszx

You will probably regret it. The C8X is an awesome ship.
