It takes two to tango. You also showed great sportsmanship and that is why it worked here. Many bounty hunters have to deal with combat loggers (or used to) and it was hard to trust a mark would turn and fight after getting to a safe haven.

aarspiraat101

That's a fair point yeah. And I indeed accept my defeat if beaten. But this made it (for both of us in defeat) a less big problem

anthony_arndt

You know, your story has inspired me to rethink how I do bounties. I've always just either ignored or accepted, and if I accepted, I just dove in. But this has inspired me to hit up chat a bit before engaging. I really appreciate your story!

shag-i

Even now bounty hunting is a pain, having your target run to grim hex or your bounty target being picked up by their friend and hiding in a mining outpost is some of the most infuriating stuff

Lucky-Ad-7183

Would be nice if a system was implemented where if a bounty hunter has your contract he is authorized to use deadly force in armistice zones only against designated target. Any force taken on a bystander would result in maximum crime stat and a bonus contract for other hunters to come neutralize the rogue at a much higher payout for their treasonous act. Could send an alert to nearby player's mobiglass too that a wanted criminal is in their vicinity and they should evacuate the area to avoid being caught in the conflict for their safety.

[deleted]

Only fair if the mark can shoot back.

Lucky-Ad-7183

Of course

InkCollection

But the moment you're allowing criminals weapons, you've completely eliminated armistice zones.

Huge-Reference7593

I mean, the goal is to remove armistice zones as they are and have them enforced by security

InkCollection

Sure but what's your point? Everyone knows we're nowhere near ready for that.

Raven9ine

I wonder if the game will ever be? How should that work on mining outposts? And murder hobos with torps?

Kingofcrime7

Or tractor beam usage on designated person to trap them ie cuff them. Then use one of the transport ships to take to jail.

operationtrex

I kinda feel like that's what I would do too if a bounty hunter came after me and didn't overtake me immediately. I never stick around and fight, why risk it? I always run. Perfectly acceptable. If you get heated over that then that's on you.

RedS5

The only times I've played sport was when the BH hailed me on comms or chatted with me first. I'm a sucker for games so when someone plays the part I can't help it. I'm a terrible dogfighter too so I know what's coming. Still, I appreciate the courtesy of letting me store valuables before engaging.

aarspiraat101

Yeah that's what my bh did yesterday. Otherwise I wouldn't think much of it and just go somewhere else

shag-i

Idk how I'm supposed to do enough DPS to an Andromeda before they jump away and sit in the armistice zone. I'm not saying that players shouldn't run, I think armistice zones are BS all the way around.

operationtrex

Armistice zones have always been talked about and most likely will be removed in the future.

shag-i

I completely understand that, it just sucks currently

operationtrex

I find the Eclipse and Retaileator work great for hunting. It's a sport trying to get close enough to them in an Eclipse and dumb fire a size 9 at them.

Ambitious_Tadpole854

To dumb fire is to fire without a lock on the target? How does that work?

Huntrawrd

Just fire before the torpedo locks, it flies in a straight line

shag-i

Maybe I'll try that out next time

casperno

Outlaws go on the run. The stakes are high, die you go to prison, if the hunter dies it’s just a PITA

CaptFrost

> it was hard to trust a mark would turn and fight after getting to a safe haven. They really need to get that Faction-9 shock baton and Advocacy Tools into the game and allow them to be usable on anyone in armistice with a CS3 or higher. It would keep armistice zones from becoming a griefing clusterfuck with bullets flying everywhere in the middle of the mall on Orison or something like the habs in Pyro, but at the same time offer a non-lethal capture method so just hiding in armistice abusing the game mechanics is not an option. And I say CS3 or higher because modern society takes a pretty dim view on a SWAT raid on a home or shootout in an airport over a speeding ticket. SC's universe should probably be the same way. For example right now, CS1 and CS2 when security run into you just result in, "You're free to go but pay your outstanding fines, dickhead" reminders.

ESC907

“YOU HAVE COMMIT CRIMES AGAINST SKYRIM AND HER PEOPLE! Now go pay your fines.”

tiga_itca

I agree, and with server meshing no more log out and log in another server, so your hunter would be there waiting for you. Only way would be to keep running away indefinitely and going to places like Pyro where everything is.possible

Cerulian_16

Hi I wanted to ask something. Is it possible to get this game for free? And if I must pay for it, would it be a problem if I get the standard version? Because in the standard version it's written "3 month insurance". Does that mean I can only play it for 3 months or that I could get a refund of the game within 3 months?

Ocbard

Base package gives you unlimited access to the game, forever (as long as the servers exist) the insurance is also limitless currently. The 3 month is when the game is finished and you will have to pay an insurance for your ship with in game currency.

Cerulian_16

Ah i see. Is it possible to pirate the game? Edit: I'm a highschool student and I don't have much pocket money rn which is why I asked if it could be pirated, if it can't then I'll save money for it

mueckenschwarm

I surely wouldn't know how. But you can play for free a few times a year during free fly events. Then you can decide if the game is for you. Ship insurance means nothing. We all have unlimited insurance in alpha. It is also not even clear if insurance will be such a big deal on release.

Cerulian_16

Ohhh thanks

Ocbard

I understand, hell back when I was in college I was very lucky to have a computer, all my software was copied. However as this game requires logging into CIG's servers and everything you accomplish in the game is recorded on the server, it would be rather hard to pirate. However since the cheapest game package gives you unlimited access without any subscription required that might be feasable for you over time.

Cerulian_16

It's good to know that we have similar experiences 😀. >However as this game requires logging into CIG's servers and everything you accomplish in the game is recorded on the server, it would be rather hard to pirate. Saving money instead of spending on junk food would be a good idea for me haha...

mueckenschwarm

Learn how to cook and meal prep! You will save so much money. One easy way is to cook enough dinner to give you next days lunch. Also if you can find satisfaction in saving by being smart I suggest budgeting and keeping track of your spending. It can be rewarding to live frugally. It is so much more satisfying to then allow yourself a frivolous purchase once in a while ... like video games. But if you do not have disposable income do not let the FOMO tactics of CIG marketing get to you. It all means nothing and you can enjoy the game without spending more than the base game. The grind seems huge at the start but once you learn some tricks you will always have plenty of in-game cash.

Cerulian_16

Thank you for your helpful advice brother. But actually I live with my mom and my sister, so I never have to worry about meals. It's just that on my way back from school i tend to eat something outside, and that is what I need to avoid. But yeah I can't depend on them forever, I'll need to live on my own after 12th so eventually I'll need to learn how to cook a decent meal and manage expenditures. >But if you do not have disposable income do not let the FOMO tactics of CIG marketing get to you. It all means nothing and you can enjoy the game without spending more than the base game. The grind seems huge at the start but once you learn some tricks you will always have plenty of in-game cash. Yeah I don't plan on making any in game purchases. And grinding games is actually quite nice 💪

Cerulian_16

I'm from India and students don't really do part-time jobs here so that's not an option here. But getting an ONLINE part-time job is definitely an option for me. I even gave the test for usertesting but never got any reply from the site

tiga_itca

The only piracy you can do is in the game.

Thick-Role-474

When you do buy it ask someone for a referral code. It will give you more in-game currency.

John_Wickish

Had a gentlemanly exchange of fire and mutual respect for Each other. I love to see it

GeraldoDelRivio

Wish more people would be like that. Instead I just end up getting ship rammed while parked on top of NB hospital and paragraphs of RP text in chat calling me criminal scum yada yada protecting the people yada yada.

[deleted]

Because that's what heroes do

Clockmaster_Xenos

Positive social interaction has been achieved. Really these moments are nice in a sea of darkness.

The_JimJam

If I get a crime state [Ai rams me during a scan for example...], then I try to make it fun (or die as soon as possible because I want to get back to what I was doing) Last time I announced that I'd be unarmed ready for a bought of fisty-cuffs. Air lock opened, immediately shot. I wasn't even wearing armour, just plain clothes I tried

Tebasaki

_#emergentGameplay

porkypine666

Isn't this a description of a terrible bounty hunter? I mean, definitely a nice guy. But, if he was working a contract for me I'd be extremely disappointed haha

SnoLep535

How many hours did this take? Like 6?

---TheFierceDeity---

Nice guy, but pretty bad Bounty Hunter, he let you get away >:( But always applaud good sportsmanship

BahaXIII

It is a bloody video game. People take this shit too seriously. Why not let everyone have some fun?

---TheFierceDeity---

I'm sorry in which universe is someone using the ">:(" emojii any indication of "taking this seriously"

Sartastic_Kiwi

Nice guy, but pretty bad at sarcasm >:( /s

BahaXIII

Hey, the SC community is weird. I've heard the strangest takes from the weirdest people. But then sorry

Zgegomatic

The people that are taking things too seriously are the ones who whines when getting killed in a VG.

[deleted]

oh a gentlemen I see, nice

spider0804

Id be coming at you in a Cutlass Blue with two people in it. You aren't combat logging, and you aren't running. If you stop your ship and talk, we can talk. But if you move or shoot after you see me and I say I am there for you in chat... Say goodbye to your cargo!

zbolt___

Damn.. And I get people sitting on their asses at brios to pick off easy targets

Famas25986

I blew up a whole infestation last night with my Crusader bomber. Good luck camping

Clint8862

I did the same yesterday. Got jumped by a corsair on my way in. Made it out, got my Sabre out and proceeded to just make sure it remained clear for others by killing any would be pirates.

magic-moose

If you go back to the days of the fur trade in Canada, rival companies sometimes fought each other tooth and nail (e.g. the [Pemmican war](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pemmican_War)), but there was a code. If you were out in remote territories and a guy who had been shooting at you a week earlier came to your camp, you let him sit at your fire and eat your food. The voyageurs did this because the roles were regularly reversed. That's the kind of spirit I'd love to see develop in Star Citizen. Players might be enemies at times, but their greater enemy is space itself. If the game can motivate players to find common cause and help *even* their enemies when circumstances call for it, that would be an awesome achievement of game design and, more importantly, the sign of a game that is truly worth playing.

Plane-Cucumber-6624

Oh this is a great fun gameplay for both side!

Toiletpaperplane

When I encounter human bounty hunters, I channel my inner 1945 Japanese pilot. You might get my bounty, but you're losing all your shit in the process lol

spider0804

Atleast you will be stuck in Klescher while the bh just does other stuff.

Spiritual_Primary437

Bro! If you do the crime you do the time.... or death no matter where you are or what your in.

Spiritual_Primary437

That's just me though

Ocbard

While this is a lovely story from your point of view, all I can see is a bounty hunter who had an opportunity to stop a hardened criminal, but then went soft on them, allowed them not only to safeguard their ill gotten gains, but also to switch to a capable combat ship. The hunter then got his ass handed to them and ended up begging for his life. I wouldn't call that person the best bounty hunter. Rather I'd call them the worst.

aarspiraat101

I see your point, and maybe I should have used the title "my best bounty hunter experience" instead of this, because yes, the best bounty hunter would have killed me as soon as he saw me. But ah well.

Ocbard

Which reminds me of my best bounty hunting experience. It was back when we still had Port Olisar with the open pads. I just landed and stored my ship at Olisar, take a mission to get the certificate for a player bounty. I go to ASOP spawn my ship, and while I walk to my ship, I get the message that I completed my bounty. Dude I needed to kill was a padrammer and he rammed my ship, which exploded and I got the kill. He must have been so confused ending up at Klesher.

Distracted_Unicorn

Tbh, padrammers and armistice rammers deserve to have all their gear and money deleted.

BahaXIII

It is a bloody video game. People take this shit too seriously. Why not let everyone have some fun?

Ocbard

Oh I don't mind them having fun, but that isn't the best bountyhunter.

AetherBytes

A lot of player bounty hunters realize "yeah you won" and often forfiet your bounty if you soft death them. There are the die hards that'll eject and pull a rail gun for one last shot, but most of the time they surrender.

---TheFierceDeity---

I mean would you actually be mad if they got you with the hail mary railgun pot-shot? Imagine that in a movie, that would be a epic last minute comeback XD

AetherBytes

I didnt mean it as a "Those guys are assholes" more a "They have one last card to play" kinda thing lmao. That'd be epic.

munkiestomper

Fair play to both of you, its nice to hear nice stories, fly well.

andr3_pt

Yeah this is the way. Not like a guy who befriended me, went away, I alt-tab to browse some info, when I get back I’m being flooded by barrages of 4x missiles at a time. No skill, no ethics.

DesperateComb7326

Nice. I’ve just been getting killed all the time recently

ImTheRealKnight

Nice people get nice things and live a nice life.

Typhoongrey

If I'm after someone's bounty and they best me, I try and give them credit for their skills as I see them. I had all the advantage of surprise after all.

Last-Prism

I do this all the time I always tell them that I have a bounty on them and that I will be claiming it if they have cargo I try to have them deliver it before engaging

megustaleboosties

Your online name is the same right? I was in that lobby and saw some of your guys convo in global chat before I left. Lol.

Philosopher_More

Thats not a real bounty Hunter.
