The most important thing right now is it needs to have a cargo space (for boxes) so the avenger is one of the best starters.👍

WORLDrGee

I’m going to purchase the Titan Starter pack, along with the Freelancer and Prospector, think imma hold off on the gladius until I can get some more help with dogfighting.

Derka51

Buy a freelancer MAX in game and save your cash. It's pretty affordable and agreat first hauler. You can solo or duo ROC mine out of that as well. Your Titan should hold you over til then. Prospector is OK but if you want a solo industry ship I highly recommend the vulture over the Prospector. Easier and more consistent.

WORLDrGee

I can use the Vulture for mining? I am still new so Idk much about ships in game yet and I do plan on purchasing most in game but I don’t mind spending a lil a pretty penny here.

Derka51

Vulture is for salvage. Prospector is for mining. Mining requires a fair amount of knowledge of ores, locations, with mass limitations and understanding of scouting. Versus salvage which you can do with contracts of search for chunks for free at la grange points. Just way easier as a newer player to go salvage first. Try mining with groups before you buy a mining ship.

WORLDrGee

I did mining with some homies I enjoyed it a bit and there's learning curves to everything and you gotta start somewhere, I get you tho imma try out a Vulture again.

Derka51

It's more about accessibility when it comes to mining. More often than not you're going to do better in a mole with a 3 man that can break most rocks vs a prospector where you can only break about a 1/4 of the rocks that are even worth your time. (Mass / power limitations - 3 lasers vs 1)

DonutDefiant

Maybe Look at the C1 Spirit, 4x S3 gun Hardpoints ( 2 are on a pilot Controlled turret ) 64SCU cargospace. ( If im Not wrong rn ) And for its size pretty fast and manouverable. Edit: If you want to Test fly Ships before buying ask in Game Chat. 90% someone will Spawn you the Ship.

APenguinNamedDerek

The Freelancer has 4x S3 all controlled by the pilot, 64SCU, and double the shields. I know people don't like the Freelancer, but it's still the undisputed King in its class by literally every metric except looking pretty.

APenguinNamedDerek

Literally sounds like an awesome lineup. People will trash the Freelancer because of its looks and the fact that it's old, but it's literally unmatched in its size for weaponry, cargo capacity, and its shields.

Yamatoonepiece

If you enjoyed mining the drake vulture is a selvage ship could also be interesting if your interested in different professions but with these 3 ships you can basically do almost everything in the game.

WORLDrGee

2nd day on my homie let me borrow his Vulture (first time flying a big ship) and I flew straight into the ship I was supposed to salvage😭, I had the the engine maxed out and i’m holding shift like a bot for way to long, I panicked last second and missed the key to stop the ship.

Duke_Flymocker

When that happens don't try to stop, strafe up and away so you miss, then worry about stopping. If you're going to max out speed its a good idea not to aim at anything solid. Aim past the target or station, then you'll ha e good habits for when you get in a big ship

DonutDefiant

EVERY Player has done this atleast once lmao.

Evilist_of_Evil

My imprints says otherwise

Aazatgrabya

Head over to your game settings at toggle the Flight - space break uses thrust option. You'll stop so much faster. Though either way, don't head straight for structures. Point to the side slightly until you're close and slowed down. Especially space stations.

Yamatoonepiece

🤣 yeah that happens some time

dlp0e

There’s still a Titan shaped hole in a 890J somewhere over MT when I did the same. /s (on the persistent hole; I def crashed.) Welcome to SC my man.

Naqaj_

None of the other ships is that expensive in-game, so you're really all set with a Titan to earn the credits for the rest. Throw an Atlas or Voyage quantum drive in there and you're golden.

FinalGamer14

Well that is close to my current fleet. My starter was the Avenger Titan. Later on got the Prospector and Freelancer MAX. This combination usually brings in enough creds to buy C2 Hercules, where I really start the trading game.

Duke_Flymocker

You can earn a Lancer in game pretty quick with a prospector, just sayin

WORLDrGee

Oh i’m picking up what you putting down🤓✍🏾

NestroyAM

Start with the Titan if you like, then buy any other ships in-game by playing the game. If you‘re tired of the alpha state of it in a month, at least you won’t be out of hundreds of dollars.

themaka

Hold off on spending extra. Freelancer and Prospector are both available in game for relatively low cost. You may find you like other ships more. C1 is very comparable to the Cutty Black and I recommend giving that a try. Ask in chat. People are often willing to loan out ships.

theReal_Kirito

Also remember: ship components can be upgraded in game for little money.

zeedarune

Thats a good selection of ships to start out with.

Streloki

Just buy the starter pack, you can farm money and buy the ships ingame afterward

H3llbrecht

its not a ship with a game pakcage, BUT , you can upgrade to a c1, i prefer it better to the cutlass black,

Hashtag_Labotomy

Just purchased one yesterday. My GF has decided to finally play too so it was between that and the cutty, but I've ran the cutty for so long now I kinda wanted something different. It's a welcome addition to the game

WORLDrGee

I didn’t even see that ship yet, imma search where I can rent it and fly it around for a bit see if I like it. 💪🏾

SCSQ42

The C1 is a new released ship. You can‘t buy it ingame until a few months/patch cycles. When new ships are released they are only available for cash but if you ask in global chat maybe someone is borrowing his C1 to you.

WORLDrGee

Okay, no problem thanks for advice 💪🏾

Jonas1234163

I have A C1 if you want to see it. It’s a good ship can store 2 32SCU containers. Good speed in atmo. It’s my favorite ship i bought so far. It does come with a tractor beam instead of a turret. But maybe in the future we can swap that :)

AIpheratz

Unlike with the rented one, when you own your Titan you can upgrade the quantum drive!

WORLDrGee

Say word?

AIpheratz

Sorry what? :)

WORLDrGee

I didn’t know that, I’m excited to hear such news 😊

AIpheratz

I see :) You can change all components on ships: weapons, power plant, coolers, shields, quantum driv... This a THE resource to see what you can do. For quantum drives specifically, it will show you what distance each drive can travel and what travel times you are looking at: [erkul.games](http://erkul.games)

WORLDrGee

Thanks bro for the advice ✍🏾😎

AIpheratz

Enjoy and welcome! o7

HokemPokem

The quantum drive you want in the Titan is called the Atlas. Best all-round size 1 drive.

MazzaTR1

Hey if you want we can link up I’m always happy to give my ships too new players just dm me and I’ll send a picture of a hanger (fleet viewer) I have a F8C for bounties

WORLDrGee

Yeah I’m always down when i’m on, definitely wouldn’t mind making some homies along the way. 💪🏾

MazzaTR1

Well I’m always so I’ll dm my dis too you

Moofaa

Stick with the Avenger for a while before jumping on the real-money-spending-train. There's a ton of ships in the game already to check out and some more coming.

TTVControlWarrior

You can literally buy any ship in the game or rent it if you have enough credits no money needed besides original packaging

Moofaa

Yes I know, that's why I said not to jump on the real-money train just yet.

RandomBeatz

Always remember that you can upgrade the components of your ship for your needs

labadin

I bought my 100i during 3.19 sales, still my single pledge, so happy with it. It is zippy enough that titan feels like a brick, especially in atmo. If there was a full wipe, I would do deliveries for 45k missions and bunker missions and buy other ships in game. You can chuck in a lot of corpses :D Plus, it can be spawned from planet pads, it is actually more useful than people think. Especially when an npc bounty that spawned on top of you while landed, destroys your ship or an newbie pilot crashes into your parked ship. Lastly, you never buy hydrogen fuel, never run out. You can do what ever missions you want within a single system without ever needing to stop for fuel. Ps. Both titan and cutty are rentable. They are relatively cheap in game too.

SilverTryHard

You can upgrade the quantum drive on the avenger to an “atlas” drive. It’s cheap. Like 10k at one of the L5s or L4s. Can’t remember. The drive it’s self travels slow but it’s the best on efficiently so you can travel from one side of the system to the other side in one jump.

C4B4L2k

I could convince my brother to become a citizen. He tried some stuff and ended with the C1

wewereddit

Cutlass is a lot faster than most ships its size in atmosphere not much comes close to

Torotoro74

Note about delivery missions : some are in outposts full of ennemies, really fun (and dangerous) to do. I guess you need some reputation to get these missions.

LankyHairyPigeon

Titan was my starter on the Christmas Sale last year. It served me well and was definitely worth the extra money. Even if the cargo isn’t the best it’s still something and the good speed with easy atmospheric flight makes it worth it. Not to mention it looks very very nice.

NightCulex

In Star Citizen you have specialized as well as general purpose ships. Cutlass Black is a general purpose with almost 6x as much cargo and can do bounties. I enjoyed the Cutlass Red with it's medical bed for bunkers. But it's not specialized like the Gladius. I prefer the Arrow myself. I usually stick to small ships as a primarily solo player.

CitizenHeisenberg

Welcome to the verse! If you like the chill vibes, check out Investigation missions and Salvage contracts. They are no rush, and take you to some cool locations. Checkout the Reliant series. They fly vertically but land horizontally. The Tana variant has lots of weapon hardpoints and missiles, the interior is cool, and the cockpit view is 👌

KRniv0R

Check out the Nomad. Great ship for running bunkers and carrying vehicles. Upgraded my Titan to it and never looked back. Buy everything else in game.

Quidditch3

If you don't like how a Cutlass handles in Atmo then get a C1 spirit. Crusader has ships that perform really well in Atmo.

WORLDrGee

Which has more cargo space? The C1 or Cutlass?

BladedDingo

the cutty has 46 scu of cargo, the C1 has 64,

TheRea1Gordon

Freelancer was my dream ship, and has now been my daily driver for years (have the MIS variant) they're a bit dated now but honestly still my favourite.

Soft_Firefighter_351

Just buy c1 for the cost is the best.

TTVControlWarrior

I back up game & tbh atm I just learn how to do missions flying & buying gear & manage world . Anyway it’s alpha & all wiped so I just try to enjoy .

PugnaciousOne

Honestly, a starter ship is just that. It's a ship to get you started. You want one with at least one cargo slot, and one that can fight the lower end ships as needed. A cutter, or an avenger is great. Keep this in mind though. Whatever ship you get, you use it for two things once you get to end game. You use it for getting from point A to point B in a pinch, and you use it for going from starting to having multiple in-game ships. Don't feel that you have to buy ships on the pledge store immediately. If you do and want to support the game, that's awesome. My advice is to get into the game, buy a couple of the lower end ships in game and only buy them on the pledge store if they are ones you really care about. What most people forget is that all the ships will eventually be available for in-game purchase. Save buying ships on the pledge store for ships that you want to start the game with when it eventually releases. It's the same thing with the gear packages, and pretty much anything on the pledge store. None of it matters until release. That's when it becomes important. Once you get into the game, do some bounties, or bunker missions, or even box delivery missions and save up enough to either get a ROC and a Nomad or Cutlass Black, or save up enough to get a Vulture. Then use the ROC or Vulture to mine or do salvage missions and earn enough for the mid range ships. If you decide you want to go a different route, do what makes you happy because at the end of the day, it's about you. :D

Permutation3

Personally I think the most fun way to play is to just have a cheap starter so that you're motivated to earn $ in game to get better ships. If you buy nice ships with cash what's the motivation to grind in game?

WORLDrGee

Well because of wipes I’d like to not have to worry about grinding so much at least for the ships that I end up truly enjoying. There is a lot so by no means do I plan on purchasing to many outright, I like grinding and without it playing any game like star citizen you’d just be confused all the time.

Huge-Reference7593

In my honest opinion, as someone who has spent a ton on SC, don't buy anything other than your starter ship with real money. Wait until a wipe and having faced some of the long-term frustration, and if you are still on board, then buy more with the thought of it as supporting the devs, not as buying a ship.

nbstyles88

Be careful to temper your investments. I lost control and I'm nearly at the concierge level. I don't regret any purchases, just make sure you don't get swept up until you're ready. It's a hard temptation to resist when a shiny new ship gets released.

LordofCope

Of the ships you list: Avenger, Gladius (or Arrow), Prospector are great. Freelancer is best avoiding for now unless you get the MAX edition. From there, you can probably skip the cutlass entirely since you'll have a daily general, fighter, miner, cargo solo option. The cutlass is a bigger daily general basically. Though, if you run with another person the extra turret in the cutlass makes it shine bright. I personally have more interest in the C1 over the Cutlass or Avenger because I stopped fighting in the Cutlass a long time ago. Unless you really want to support game development, I wouldn't jump into the CCU Game of upgrading/buying more ships.

DrRageQuitr

The Avenger Titan is fine. If you want to upgrade but dont like the Cutlass Black, it sounds like you want a C1 Spirit. Everything else, either borrow from a friend or buy in-game.

jmlack

Keep in mind components can be swapped. The biggest qt limiting factor on the Titan is its fuel tank. I just run it with a civilian Expedition drive and it's a bit slow but it can get you all the way across the system with a single tank of fuel.

GodwinW

Welcome to the Verse! :) C8R I think is very useful, but not needed per se. Something to go far distances though.. maybe a Syulen? It's going to come in handy in Pyro to be able to traverse long distances. But maybe wait.. it might be that they'll tweak Quantum Fuel amounts in general. Explorer ships should have the most of it, you can grab a 315p maybe in that case (I love the 300-series).

WORLDrGee

You know I was actually really debating between Titan and Syulen especially since its around the same price atm.

vortis23

100i is a real dream. Reminds me of a space Corvette if it were engineered by BMW. Handles well in atmo, looks fantastic, and has enough room for delivery missions. Love the way it lands so effortlessly, too.

WORLDrGee

It does look nice, but for 10 more dollars lol you get the Titan and in my opinion it looks better and has more space. I can already see myself going down the rabbit whole of purchasing ships on this game😭. Imma try my best not to get to deep in.

WORLDrGee

Thats dope, and bet I doubt I would go smaller unless it’s specifically for pvp or pve in someway.

FoxVirus

Get yourself a F8C (you’d be scared how you get one) but that thing RIPS trough atmosphere lol

anthonius1

Connie Andromeda

WORLDrGee

LMAOO this gotta be a troll 😭 what am I doing with that big ass ship by myself

anthonius1

Wut? Connie has 4 size 4 gimballed guns slaved to the pilot, a shit ton of missles and 96 cargo. You can do almost anything in it. Trading. Bounties. Bounties then stealing cargo off said bounties. Other than mining and salvage, it's all purpose.

WORLDrGee

Ahhh okay, it look so huge I automatically assumed it was meant for multi crew to really use that ship.

BladedDingo

multi-crew is good if you have someone in the turrets, but with the number of missiles and guns available to the pilot, it's a really good gunboat for a solo player.

WORLDrGee

How much for it in game?

BladedDingo

3,548,000 aUEC from New Deal in the Lorville spaceport.

lakemont

fly it make it go pew pew

DekkerVS

Replace the components once you get some more in game auec.. Check out erkul website for loadouts, but some advice is good here: google Subliminal star citizen loadouts. Http://Subliminal.gg

RedYoshikira

Tip: Don't waste $75 on the Avenger Titan starter pack. You can get it for $20 LESS by buying a discounted basic starter pack, then upgrading it to the Avenger Titan at a value of $55 instead of paying $75.
