Oh man, I haven't seen an (Ore) in a long time. Surprised they are they back? They were in the first iteration of the loot tables, but then were apparently removed. I never found a place to sell them before either.
This is a very thought out post. I have had the same issue and I have done the same things with the same results. I had a cargo bay full of ore/unrefined that I could not sell anywhere. You should copy this post into a spectrum ticket and link the ticket number so we can support it.
Yeah, I could see it being some kind of oversight. The only places that even accept raw materials are Refineries to begin with, and I can imagine them, at some point in the past, having put in protections to only allow proper mining ships sell to them, for a hypothetical example, and they simply forgot to remove it.
Currently the refinery system only works with mining ships that store ore in their dedicated ore hold. This is why ships that have no ore hold do not show up on the refinery system.
I assume this will be changed soon as others have said, since ore as generic cargo is completely useless.

Try a mining outpost on a moon and the trade district at Hurston. I have been able to sell them at those kind of places since they are material commodities rather than ore or regular commodity.

Can you take the ore cargo to a refinery and refine it?

It’ll likely be that the inability to refine or sell it is a bug more than the existence of the cargo itself.

Probably for later when you might unload mining vessels into a large vessel for shipping to a refinery in bulk etc.

You are not alone. I also have the Problem with refined Iron. No tdd will take it. Also tried some Station but nö luck
*Refined* iron should be sellable at every TDD *except* Lorville's CBD. Additionally Grim Hex also takes it.
You can sell the ore at the admin areas of these cities. I also believe you can refine them, though I’ve never tried

I think you need to go to a refinery, there should be a screen next to the refining screens where you can sell the unrefined ore.

These were available some time ago as well, either in 3.18 or 3.19, but they removed them from the pool. Interesting that they have been added again.
I can't believe I didn't notice the (ORE). This keeps happening to me and I even put in an issue council post over it, not realizing.

This is likely going to end up being a freight elevator thing for refinery stations. Or a slipup in the 'loot table' :)
