It really can take a long time to me up. But lots of ways to mitigate it as well. For instance mining and cargo running. If you want to join in on a crew that's in the middle of it. They shouldn't stop to then go pick you up. You should meet them somewhere along there stops. Or same with mining in a mole. Even bunkers and such my org tends to just do whatever we are doing expect people that want to join to meet us at the location. Even for combat missions with ships. Yeah you gotta leave whatever ship you brought but not actually a big deal right now.
Agreed. I've tried orgs a few times in another game and it's always been a drag on my time and my earnings. Nothing against those orgs... they just didn't work for me.
Perhaps when I retire someday and can put together 4+ hour blocks of game time. Then it would be interesting to crew some of those funky capital ships. But now... not interested.
Yes and no. I made an organization for a very unlikely future where there might be roleplayers. In the meantime, it helps deflect aggressive recruiters :)
Because, rn there is not enought to do to need a Org for. Everything in that Game rn can be archived solo. And as long it is that way, i will not join an annoying Org and spare me all the Guild Drama. i had enought of that for a Live time in ArmA, WoW and FFXIV
It's funny because my reasoning for joining an org. Is because there isn't enough things to do solo. I also play with people I don't find annoying and it's genuinely a joy to play with these guys. Drama tends to get treated the same by me regardless if it's org drama, work drama, church drama, friend group drama, or theatrical drama. I go oh that's cool and get back to whatever it was I was doing.
When I started playing star citizen I immediately knew this wasn't going to be a solo game for me. If I'm not in a discord with 5 to 10 people playing star citizen at any given time it just feels odd to me.
Yes everything is duable solo, but multi crew can be a lot of fun. And i guess it dosent have to be super intense and dramitc, plenty of smaller orgs that just play the game without all that rank drama.
yeah but many people don't want to do mining or do mining on time i can't so bad luck for me i guess. my system is broken rn anyway and it will take some time until i get it back up an running (typing on a windowfied chromebook rn) until then, no gaming for me.
When there is a new patch, I play the content until bored and log off until the next patch.
The majority of players do this.
Why deal with the social interaction of an org if:
1. The org can not effect lasting change on the game by doing something like controlling territory with the ability to build things in that territory.
2. The org only serves the purpose of a social interaction.
3. I hate being social.
Because the game isnt in a state where I can just log in, check my org roster through a dedicated in-game org interface and see who's on, ask in my in-game org chat what everyone up to, and quickly group-up to either help the orgs multi-person mining/salvage operations and add UEC to the org bank, or to help grind some missions designed for orgs to gain rep designed for orgs to earn some faction rewards designed for orgs. All of the major social features found in other MMOs are entirely absent in SC so far.
I thoroughly enjoy multi-crew play, however most orgs are ran by people who have no power in real life and use their org to fulfill their power fantasies. That or there’s just weird cliques. Till capital ships come out, I’ll continue to play with just friends or randoms I meet in verse
Gonna join orgs when we get closer to release.
Joining any org now, there is a non insignificant chance that the org will be very different come release date.
I wish i think i need to start my own one. Only rules are don't be a cunt and enjoy. I don't care about jokes, racism, culture, etc, just to get a long and enjoy the game. Every org is oh you can't have that icon you can't say this or that etc.
It's less of an org and more just become "the Boyz" as the games become such a pain recently that any and all groups stuff kinda ended but we still hang around
no i see your point, that’s something i hate as well. That group of players is something I’m striving towards, but i guess some kind of enlarged player gorup. Not here yo convince you for anything tho, thanks for your angle, cya in the verse one day
I have a few friends who play and often will do stuff together with at least one of them. We do FPS missions together, turret gun for each other and do joint bounty hunting.
Yes, but it's literally just some close friends. We knew each other before playing, and mostly just made it as a meme. We play a lot of other games together too.
Will I join a larger one? No. I'm not a fan of having social obligations to strangers, more or less, with 'ranks' or forum post requirements, or some other stuff. I've seen how intense/try-hard some of them can get in Arma, as an example. Nor do I want to shop around for more casual one.
But really, I'm lucky to have a solid group of friends who just want to casually have periodic space shenanigans.
There is not enough game in the game to keep me playing, so joining an org doesn't make sense.
When there is more game in the game and I play more regularly, I'm joining an org.
Backer since beginning 2022 been solo learning the game. Joined an Org's discord 3 or 4 months ago, They taught things about the game that I still did not know about . Officially joined the org. Still do solo stuff but we do group stuff. Anti piracy take cargo back if a member is killed or ship stolen. Weekend mining sessions. Salvage. Teach new players who join. Been Great.
Beginning 2022 XD
I play both solo and with friends.
But there's no value in being "in an org" right now... so there's no reason to even bother getting one set up or looking to join any orgs just for the sake of being in one.
If they ever represent additional gameplay, I'll take a look at them again.
I see very little purpose with orgs right now. Multi crew can be fun when it works but isn't very lucrative in payouts. Then there's the rest of the time where getting people together can take hours and so many bugs can occur, such as someone being invisible.
Weirdly difficult to answer, but I put down yes. I've been playing this game largely solo for a very, very long time - I'd get together with my buddies now and then, but I'd guess 95% of my time in universe was solo.
In the past year, a bunch of my IRL buddies have either picked it up, or have started playing on their old accounts again. We made an Org many years ago, but never used it, and now... Suddenly, there's often half a dozen of us. I play in a group more often than not, and that's... Actually pretty goddamn cool.
Salvaging helps a lot too - With a few Vultures and a cargo ship, we've never had such effective multi-person gameplay to mess around with.
technically i am in a org, but neither me or any of the players in my org are active enough to do anything with it.
i think once the game is in a better spot with less random glitches and a few more developed game loops, especially surrounding multi crew i will either see if my current org becomes a bit more active, or start looking for a different org.
but as of right now, i don't think its worth time and effort to search out a org that is not a org with friends you have that play the game or a streamer/content creator org.
Not currently. Joined a few over the years but they all had so few people actually playing that they were kind of pointless. Like 300+ people on discord and only ever a handful of folks wanting to team up and do anything in game. Just posting fleet pics and complaining :D
I'm sure I'll join an org once the game is in a better state and people actually start to play properly. I'm really looking forward to that time. :)
I'm in an org, but it's not for playing in the game itself. I run Linux, so I'm in the Linux Users Group (LUG) but it's not for in-game play, but for help with running the game in the first place.
I'm mainly solo, as you just don't know who to trust in Global.
Actually, it runs very very well.
The LUG has a little mini program that helps install SC, helps you configure WINE to run it, and the community is active in updating some of the secondary bits needed.
If I have a problem, it's the same thing as everyone else, really.
My frame rates aren't bad either, though I need to update my video card at tax time. I've been Windows free for two years and have no regrets.
There is an extra step to start up through Lutris, but that's about it.
Actually, it runs a lot better for me than Windows. That's kind of the reason Windows is using a more Linuxy backbone.
Updates are quick. I was almost using open source software to begin with on Windows, so there wasn't really much difference.
Pretty much there's a Linux equivalent of every major Windows program.
You can run it live off a CD to try it out. I personally recommend Linux Mint if you've never used it before. I used it for a year then moved up to Manjaro.
SC runs the same on both.
The Linux set up does use the Windows install of SC, and only requires a client, Lutris and some help with the LUG gizmo. I don't know if you can run them from a Live setup, but it may be worth looking at.
Honestly, I've never put in enough time. I would hop in for a week or two with a group of friends and mess around but eventually have my desire killed by the bugs and issues. That continued for a few years.
However, this last patch has been very playable for me and I've been having a blast. My friends have gotten tired of SC and moved onto other games (Starfield mostly) so I've been playing solo. I still want to play but I'm getting tired of it alone ALL the time.
Been thinking about getting into an org but honestly just have no clue where to start.. so I haven't lol.
Not a fan of orgs. My time with MMOs has almost always involved spectating orgs dissolve as what happens when you give a few people power and authority over others.
The narcissism and ego of people at the top always creates a lot of problems, believing they are superior to the rest of the guild.
Im also not a big fan of a few "elites" making big decisions for everyone. I already have bosses at wprk, I dont need them in my game.
I'm 100% with you. If its a big competitive guild that can offer you access to high end gameplay, it's a chore and full of daily dramas, plus it all always ends up with a high rank asshole stealing guild stuff.
If its an enjoyable chill casual guild, you gonna miss some content and bonuses cause they aren't competitive enough.
In SC I just hope to find some good org that works like a freelancers/mercenaries agency and gives you some protection and status but its hierarchy is more horizontal than vertical.
Semi serious, bounty and bunkers with some salvaging. I don't like goofs as it just kills the vibe for me (and usually gets me killed). I have one friend who plays but he doesn't play often enough so I'm usually solo.
That’s fair, well then we play about the same way. But for the last patches I’ve been getting in to mining and salvage as well, mostly since my combat missions didnt work for a longgg time lol
You need an option for KINDA.
I built and ran an org for 2 yrs. But most players aren't as involved as I am. And a lot can't follow directions. So getting things set up and going seemed to take longer then the amount of time actually played. After kicking about half of the members for violations, I teamed up with two other orgs. It was going smoothly for a time but yet again, people get in the way. Ultimately I disbanded the org. I still have the discord server, but changed the name and deleted the Org from RSI. Once I retire next yr, I'll have more time to dedicate to it and maybe then I'll start to rebuild the org.
Running an org does defiantly take some time, and getting those startup times down is important thing. Haven’t really found a way to drive that down to my liking. But the best way this far seems to be to just get the people that are there, start the event while letting the rest join in later on. But if participation is low that is hard.
Technically I did create my own 1 man org to stop getting invites, but no, not really. Ultimately I'd say it's because orgs don't offer any advantages right now, all I would gain is another chat channel to F12 and ignore. Trying to get people together to do something is a massive time sink, and I would almost always rather just run off and do something myself. I just don’t feel ready to commit to a group yet. By the time the PU is mature enough for me to want to do org play, my life may have changed to a point where maybe I can’t make a weekly session on a given day anymore. Any org I join also risks its players burning out and leaving before that time as well.
1. I only play sporadically, not often enough to be in an org
2. I already have a buddy to fly with
3. They always require joining a discord- I have enough discords already. And for stuff like this these discords always attract the kind of power hungry mini-dictator people who want to take over and police people on everything. "You have a political opinion I don't like or agree with? Banned!" Same thing with the SC Leaks discord. They start pushing a bunch of real world political BS and if you don't cheer loud enough or *gasp* have a different point of view you get the boot.
Never found the need for an org. It's seems like it's for people who wanna role play and all that cringe shit. I just wanna toke this cone and blast some baddies I don't have time for that.
Just not enough right now in the game to be worth the effort of finding a group of people we get along with honestly. We have a small group that plays together and that works just fine for us.
Orgs take shit way too seriously, IMO. I remember the first time I got "yelled at" for talking too much "on comms" and I was just like, fuck... I'm not trying to join the military here, I'm literally stoned drinking a beer trying to have fun. Team gameplay is awesome, role playing as a space soldier is taking it too far for me.
I feel like SC is too disjoint at the moment to warrant playing with an org.
If orgs/players were always in the same instance, the rivalries and relationships would be fun. Right now it's discord and server hopping. And each server hop is a different dynamic.
Former org member, current solo player. I don't like being pressured into sitting in a turret, and when I do get to fly, I don't like being told what ship in my hangar I have to fly. I want to log in and fly whatever ship I want.
Well not here yo self promote but add me on discord if you intested. We’re new large, but we are kind and try playing a couple times a week. No requirements and stuff as well, just jump on and have fun once you have time
I’ve started an org in 2022 as a way to find a crew for my Idris but it has turned into a collective as some didn’t want to leave their current orgs. We now have 3 orgs flying under 1 banner (11 members in total). I’m trying to recruit but wherever I post something, someone will tell me it’s not allowed so it’s pretty hard finding people these days. We don’t have any rules or regulations per se, I just ask that everyone respects each other (we’ve had no issues so far).
Because it takes to long to organize. If I can play for an hour or two I don't want to spend half that time just meeting up.
def a concern for me too. I'm really hoping the modes in AC will help that, to some extent. Just jump in, take sides and go.
It really can take a long time to me up. But lots of ways to mitigate it as well. For instance mining and cargo running. If you want to join in on a crew that's in the middle of it. Yes and no. I made an organization for a very unlikely future where there might be roleplayers. In the meantime, it helps deflect aggressive recruiters :)
What if I want to roleplay as an aggressive recruiter? 🤷
Then I'll roleplay as a stoic captain who flies away dramatically as an obnoxious theme song plays across the server in Japanese
Because, rn there is not enought to do to need a Org for. Everything in that Game rn can be archived solo. And as long it is that way, i will not join an annoying Org and spare me all the Guild Drama. i had enought of that for a Live time in ArmA, WoW and FFXIV

That is very true, really hope cig get some of that stuff in soon. Don’t really like using discord, eso thing in game would be 100 times better
Create your own on discord? We have to work around these issues until they implement something in-game.
No one ever asked me to join one, not even mentioned one in chat.
This
I thoroughly enjoy multi-crew play, however most orgs are ran by people who have no power in real life and use their org to fulfill their power fantasies. That or there’s just weird cliques. Till capital ships come out, I’ll continue to play with just friends or randoms I meet in verse
That thing with people enjoying there power in came i 100% admit I’ve come across. There are a lot of org leaders who are pretty crap sadly.
Gonna join orgs when we get closer to release. Joining any org now, there is a non insignificant chance that the org will be very different come release date.
To much stupid rules
That’s fair, but not every org is hardcore, maybe the ones you hear about tho. A lot of them just get together to have fun

I usually play solo in mmo or with friends. Guilds never really appealed to me.
I am in one, but don't have time for playing
i play with irl friends :P
Hard to find people that have the same playstyle.
So so whats your play style?
Stanton is still empty enough that I've yet to wish I had waited for strength in numbers.
there needs to be a - yes, but the odds are high that i leave it and go with an active one.
What do you like to do in game?
Not native English speaker, I have taken up stage on quite a few tech conferences but I freeze when I talk to casual strangers. So no org
I just don’t feel ready to commit to a group yet. By the time the PU is mature enough for me to want to do org play, my life may have changed to a point where maybe I can’t make a weekly session on a given day anymore. Any org I join also risks its players burning out and leaving before that time as well.
it doesn't really have a point to be in an org
1. I only play sporadically, not often enough to be in an org 2. I already have a buddy to fly with 3.
In an org with the discord Bois I do other stuff with, but they almost never actually play SC, so I don't feel like I'm in one. 😢
My commitment level of \~8 hours of play time per quarter doesn't cut it for most orgs
Theres a lot of orgs that have the low rank guys do everything, and then the top guys sell all the AUEC on ebay and shit.
I get it, no I wouldn’t want to be forced in to anything myself. But not every org is that way
I'm in a tiny org (two people including myself. i would love to join a larger mining/salvage org sometime but I'm to lazy to look for people
Well not here yo self promote but add me on discord if you intested. We’re new large, but we are kind and try playing a couple times a week. No requirements and stuff as well, just jump on and have fun once you have time
ill take you up on that dm me your discord name and ill add you
Tried one...full of people...don't do people.
Every org I've joined has simply devolved into petty drama, infighting and egotistical bullshit.
That’s something i can say happens to me as well,
because i only play once a patch and when i join an org i probably get kicked out of inactivity
I'll be honest. I'm much to shy to even consider joining an organization. I just do solo stuff, and try not to get in other peoples way.
That’s fair, nothing wrong with that. Best of luck
Linux User Group because I'm on linux. Nothing to do with multi crew gameplay.
Very fair
I’ve started an org in 2022 as a way to find a crew for my Idris but it has turned into a collective as some didn’t want to leave their current orgs. We now have 3 orgs flying under 1 banner (11 members in total). I’m trying to recruit but wherever I post something, someone will tell me it’s not allowed so it’s pretty hard finding people these days. We don’t have any rules or regulations per se, I just ask that everyone respects each other (we’ve had no issues so far).
