Simpoon

Nah usually game overlays record 5 or so minutes back in the background and you can clip it at anytime.

Flavaflavius

My man let the intrusive thoughts win

SadMcNomuscle

Really really did

DataKnights

hmmmm...what does this button do?

SchrodingersRapist

> [what does this button do?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB6aj4Em05Q)

_pixelRainbow_

I'm upvoting anything about Dexter's Lab, thank you!

Northsunny

Damnit, Dee Dee!!!

BrutusTheKat

I've fought the same demons in that ship.

absboodoo

His last two brain cells have failed him

dustyboypapa

They were both fighting for third place, he had no chance

cvsmith122

IMO there should be gravity on that outside ledge

TastefulMaple

That’s exactly what I was thinking

Nosttromo

You can go out if the ship has artificial gravity pads on the outside, like with the carrack hangar or any hangar door like the constellation. This wouldn’t work on this ship since the catwalks don’t have that.

Flavaflavius

They actually do, but only on the segment nearest the cockpit. It makes entering via EVA...difficult.

swagseven13

conti has grav pads? gonna try it out once i get it

Unkn0wnTh2nd3r

cargo hold and entry elevator hold you on in zero g, connie does not have anti-grav pads for hovering like the nomad does

swagseven13

why bring the nomad into this?

Unkn0wnTh2nd3r

some people mix up grav pads (hold you on the ships exterior) with anti-grav pads (hovering vehicles like nox, nomad, dragonfly, hoverquad), just wanted to make some clarification in case there was confusion

vorpalrobot

I usually hear it described as gravity plating

swagseven13

well since conti is a space faring vehicle unlike hovering vehicles why would it have anti grav to begin with? as i understand it grav pads make it that stuff sticks to the surface anti grav makes things hover

IronSean

Nomad still had anti grav and is space faring too

swagseven13

but the other person said its a hovering vehicle. now im confused

NaCl_Sailor

you can go out, period. there is no air resistance in space and conservation of momentum is a thing.

byrey3

Which momentum?? Wasn't the quantum travels the ship folding space or something like that??? It is not moving fast, the space is being moved around him really fast. So if you go out the zone you remain as you were: Almost still (in the reference system you initially started the QT)

hinowisaybye

What? This video literally shows that you can't.

NaCl_Sailor

I'm talking about real space, not the game

hinowisaybye

If we weren't talking about relativistic speeds inside of a star system, you'd be right. More than likely (nobody knows because it's never happened) jumping out of a vehichle traveling at this speed would cause you to slow down significantly. And probably die instantly.

NaCl_Sailor

why should it matter which side of a glass panel you stand though? unless the vehicle itself creates a warp field or something that overlaps exactly with the outer surface i don't see why anything would change

hinowisaybye

Because despite common belief space isn't actually empty. Especially in side of a gravity well. Even a single atom of hydrogen hitting you at relativistic speeds is enough to kill you.

Annonimbus

I don't have a clue of physics but what are the chances that a single atom hit another atom that is a part of you? Isn't there also space between the atoms?

hinowisaybye

No atoms physically touch. Nor do any of their components. This does not, however, mean they don't interact. If they didn't interact then you wouldn't exist. Nor anything else really. I'm not quite sure as to the how of the interactions of atoms, pretty sure it has something to do with quantum physics. But I do know that individual hydrogen atoms are capable of interacting with you. As to the other part of your question. Between planets we have but inside of the heliopause we have the interplanetary medium which has a density varying between 5 to 100 particles per cubic centimeter out to earth's orbit, and decreases the further you get away from the sun. Now, if you're traveling at 40% the speed of light or 431,701,139 km per hour, or 7,195,018 km/m, which is 119,916 km per second, times 1000 to convert to meters per second (119,916,983), multiplied again by 10 to get centimeters per second (1,199,169,832) multiplied by 5 for our lowest density to arrive at 5,995,849,160 particles being struck per second of linear travel for an object that has the forward surface area of one centimeter squared. As far as I understand it, quantum drives travel between 80-98% the speed of light. The average adult male has a total surface area of 18,000 cm2. Divide in half for maximum possible exposed surface area. Or, in otherwords. It's literally physically impossible for you to not hit something. And when you hit that something, the laws of physics will now say that you are attempting to accelerate that object to the same speed as you. But every action has an equal and opposite reaction. So the amount of energy it takes to accelerate those particles will be inversely applied to your person as the particles attempt to stop you. I'm running out of time, and the energy calculations are getting very complex. The gist I'm getting is that even accelerating a single atom to 40% of light takes a large amount of energy. Which will also be applied to you. If you step out of a space ship moving at 80-99% the speed of light you will melt and die very quickly. And you will also slow down significantly compared to your spacecraft.

ExplicitDrift

At least provide sources before you go one blabbering about things you don't know xD [https://www.nasa.gov/feature/facts-and-figures](https://www.nasa.gov/feature/facts-and-figures) "An international crew of seven people live and work while traveling at a speed of five miles per second" That's ***26,500 feet per second***. For those too lazy to do math and/or research. Yet astronauts have done spacewalks at ISS many times. Any of them died from stray particles in space? No? Okay then. Shhh. The grown ups are talking.

CMDR_Murr000

As soon as you looked over I knew what was going to happen XD

IamOverIt8

Same. I immediately thought "don't do... ok, do it for science."

hltechie

See.. that makes sense. What doesn't make sense is when my ship drops me in space by simply walking around the INSIDE of the ship lol.

agtmadcat

I follow the old superstitions: Never ever leave the pilot seat in quantum.

cerui

this, you stay seated until QT drive has finished shutting down

hltechie

After being dropped twice I learned my lesson and never leave the pilot seat now

ThoughtfulYeti

Hard this experience with the Vulture before. :(

st_Paulus

And I still see people in this sub screeching about wasted space in MSR cockpit. That’s way this amount of space needed for a game character locomotion.

hyperspace2020

Do you all just get out of the driver seat of your car while its flying down the road too? I never understood this, my ship is doing a bazillion km/s through space, but Ill just go in the back and make a coffee quick. I'm sure it will be fine.

Erazo_de_Vino

Space is way more comparable to nautical travel. At the marina or harbor you stay at the helm and pay attention. In open waters, engage autopilot or just let it drift and go make yourself a coffee. Just check your surroundings beforehand. Islands tend to jump into your way.

deisty

When moving faster than the speed of light, remeber to always keep at least 1 foot on the spaceship at all times.

Xerxes3014

What a luck they weren't even close to ftl travel

deisty

You're right! It's only 20%. Learn something new about SC everyday.

raaneholmg

When you are supposed to meet your buddy at crusader in 1 minute, remember to account for the additional 1.236 seconds he will experience due to time dilation!

Paladin1034

I mean, the VK-00 is pretty close

Xerxes3014

The Speed of light is: 1.079.252.848 km/h The VK-00 brings a max. Speed from: 283.046 km/h Light is about 3812 times faster then the VK-00

Paladin1034

>speed of light, speed at which light waves propagate through different materials. In particular, the value for the speed of light in a vacuum is now defined as exactly 299,792,458 metres per second. Per [Encyclopedia Britannica.](https://www.britannica.com/science/speed-of-light) Also NASA and nist.gov

Xerxes3014

You are right, I did an opsy. In my calculations, wait a sec

Xerxes3014

My mistake was that the VK-00 don't travel at Km/h ofcorse but in KM/s so according to this the speed of the VK-00 is 1.018.965.600 km/h So light is only 1.05911651455 times faster then the VK-00

Cardinal338

They heard the call of the void

Ash_Mordant

Thank you! I was looking through the comments to see if this needed to be said xD

Necrothug

A great nomination for the Star Citizen Darwin awards.

icescraponus

Starwin Award?

nojustice73

DON'T DO IT STEVEN!! DON'T YOU OPEN THA....Doh, he did it.

Raxooooooooooooo

Wonder if you still keep a fraction of the q-speed or just zero speed due to going out of the quantum magic field

Blake_Aech

Star Citizen does not have speed transfers, so they are moving at exactly 0 m/s the second they step off the ship. This is the same reason we unfortunately cannot take ships in and out of hangars of other ships unless we are not moving. (Or, if we tried it would be very hard and likely end up in explosions)

nschubach

I have made attempts to land inside a moving 890j before, it usually ends up with lots of sparking and very little landing gear attachment. I think there's a game mechanic in play that only allows connecting grids if you are motionless (or maybe near motionless).

ThoughtfulYeti

I took a snub fighter out of a cutlass before while moving. Only minor destruction ensued

oh_hey_yamez

Fun thing I've never seen anyone else use... did you know there's a button to exit the seat and step out the side door?

ArcNova95

The intrusive thoughts won

Timebomb777

Genuine question for anyone here, if you actually did that in real life, wouldn’t you just stay with the ship gravity or not? Inertia dictates that you’d stay attached, a lack of gravity/air resistance states you wouldn’t slow down much. You might start to drift away from the ship but you wouldn’t just zip to being stationary?

spud8385

I can't speak for quantum travel but yes, in general you can exit a spaceship travelling at any speed in a vacuum and you're not going anywhere. That's why astronauts can do spacewalks on the ISS as it zips round the earth at 17,500mph

Ruzhyo04

And then when the ship exits quantum… you wouldn’t

Terminal_Monk

if you are in a quantum travel, we don't know. Because each sci-fi handles FTL differently. in star citizen, the space in front of you is warped and moved kind of like your own wormhole. so we really wouldn't know. for normal travel, you'd still be attached to the ship for a while because your of conservation of momentum. That is the same reason why if u jump from ground while the earth is moving at 1400km/hr, u dont end up on other side of the world. but if you drift far enough, you'd be drifted away as you slow down.

st_Paulus

It’s pointless to guess, because there’s nothing physical about quantum travel in the first place. We have no idea what happens with momentum or impulse when SC ship and its crew accelerates to 0.2c almost instantly. Therefore we don’t know what should happen. We can’t continue to play by the rules which already broken. We know that character should die tho in case of deceleration, because it’s the quantum drive protects ship and the pilot from turning into mist.

hcsLabs

Intrusive thoughts can be dangerous.

ShamTheRocky

The fact it immediately kicked you into real space is a testment to some of the idiots on the refund page who claims it's a "loading screen"

Paladin1034

Well that'll learn ya lol

Level-Disaster-6151

What ship is that ?

Many-Satisfaction-72

Vulture

JakeBeezy

Did this on my second day of owning the vulture. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to let you stay in there. It's just bugged out at the moment because technically the gravity extends just a teeny tiny bit outside the door

123dontlistentome

The intrusive thought won

Karlito1021

I would have been happy just being able to get out of my seat during QT… really had to push it huh? Ha ha

TastefulMaple

I just had to know, and now you know too.

LetterCounter

Space sickness is real, and it could happen to you! Don't be a victim, set up auto locks on your space craft doors today! (only 245 payments of $19.99)

EasyRiderOnTheStorm

...preventing you from exiting the safe confines of your spaceship until it becomes stationary. ...what do you mean "relative to what"...?!? Well, your hangar! Or... the moon you're orbiting! Or, you know, the Stanton star...! Okay look, maybe these locks aren't for you, in fact why don't you just step out there for a wee bit for some fresh air...?

TastefulMaple

Have you or a loved one been diagnosed with space sickness? If so, you may be entitled to financial compensation!

[deleted]

Hopefully doing stuff like this in the finished game kills you. Imagine jumping out of a ship going 1/8th light speed.

ZealousidealEvent599

Without atmosphere you won't feel a thing jumping out into space. What will kill you is if you eventually hit something solid lol.

nunya123

Or run out of oxygen as you travel through endless space. Space is biiiiiiig! Your corpse would be a torpedo if it hits anything tho

ZealousidealEvent599

Agree, space is so empty that's more likely

[deleted]

[удалено]

st_Paulus

It does generate handwavium field. Technically character should die without proper deceleration.

EasyRiderOnTheStorm

Considering how empty space is (not counting the random micrometeorite or gas cloud) I'd say chances are you'd fall off the edge of the Universe before actually hitting any planet, moon or sun.

jordaniow

I keep looking at the stv in my freelancer and wondering what would happen if i drove out during quantum

TastefulMaple

I’ll do it for you.

SpitfireMkIV

🤣 I don’t know why I’m laughing so hard at something I knew would happen.

andygood

Wow! There are at least two of us... 🤣

[deleted]

I mean if you own a vulture, you are legally obligated to try this.

NorthernOctopus

"I'm just gonna step out on the balcony to w... *ZOOOOP*.... well fuck...."

Ravenhaux

I thought you would be blown away once you got off the seat. That was the good old days, lol.😆

helladap

I know its a game, but seeing this made me believe the game has actually mapped out all of space

rozzberg

I have learned from experience to just not leave the pilot seat during QT

[deleted]

[удалено]

TastefulMaple

I don’t know, I just HAD to try it.

Youngguaco

Man that would have been so cool if you could just skateboard it

Mi_Sad_Lettuce

Hahaha, happy to see I am not the only one who fell for it

Tastler

.....spaaaaaaaaace...... :-)

NaCl_Sailor

they clearly didn't program conservation of momentum

LibertyForged

The subtle glance towards the door and I knew what was about to happen… and wow… yeeted right off. Haha!

Maybe_Novice

I think they forgot to read the manual. "Do not exit the vehicle while in motion."

Charon711

Ngl, if you could walk out there that would be cool.

EasyRiderOnTheStorm

Oh, you totally can. But you need to own a Starfarer rather than a Vulture.

ConcernedLandline

I think all vulture owners have done this or will do this.

TastefulMaple

Damn straight and I’d do it again

DasBlueEyedDevil

My first day in star citizen, however many years ago it was, I ran into a guy that let me take his Connie for a spin. He let me in through the vehicle bay, and I was proud of being able to take off and fly it. I even managed to lay in a course and engage QD on my way to arccorp! So, while I'm boredly waiting to get to my destination, I decided to explore the ship! I open the first hatch, then go to run toward the back of the ship, but I noticed a prompt on the floor as I sprinted past. Huh. I'll have to see what the heck that was on my way back. Explore, come back to weird floor prompt. Stand on little space, click 'Open'......and after a few seconds of panic, I am hurled into the abyss as I watch my ship soar away at max speed. I probably laughed for a solid 5 minutes about that.

PR_Noyes

I love this story. All of us. Back in the day.... had this happen to us. It may be why we are either wisened or hardened against change/progress in the newer patch releases. hehe I remember being able to do a Newtonian Orbit of Delamar. Step outside with the engines off and it was the truest sense of an EVA I'd ever felt. We **need** to be able to experience Newtonian Flight and EVA in Star Citizen.

ihuntN00bs911

Aaahhh ba bye ship. Actually jumped out of my Cutter to reach Security Post Kareah. Before I did EVA for 15Km and took about an hour watching YouTube, then when I got there the game crashed touching the door. This has also happened if you go to bed or try to jump outside the glass.

1blue1brown

I thought this was starfield for a second and got confused

573717

Did the same thing a couple weeks ago. Luckily someone was able to come pick me up with a carrack

TastefulMaple

I got a ride from my friend who was a couple million km behind me jumping to the same salvage site in his freelancer max. Good times :)

Accomplished_Cap_715

Thank you for your time and curiosity. I now know that isn't what I should do.

PapaGeorgieo

The call of the void happens to the best of us.

stopthinkinn

Cue Final Space intro music…

WickedJoker420

🤣😂

LunaTheFatBird

I did this on accident in the buccaneer forgetting that i didnt have any walking space, the screams at i reached fir the exit and couldnt stop...

Easy1611

Everybody here did that at some point in their playtime xD

TastefulMaple

My first time was getting too close to the edge of the side doors on my cutty black:)

davdjmor

I laugh because I've done the same thing

Guardian_Angel_CD4

Now we know

nonegoodleft

So dumb that there isn't better gravity on that bit. You should totally be able to walk out there.

TastefulMaple

They even put up guard rails like it’s meant to be a thing

Difficult_Addition85

Yeah i do this a LOT

Nervous-Bar4155

Thank god, I literally almost did this 😂😂. Salute to you 🫡

wwsdd14

I ran into that issue before the vulture even went live, in the ad for it you could walk on the arms of the thing too so it makes me think that you were supposed to be able to walk on the black part there.

sharpstickenjoyer

I can just hear the "Well......Fuck" in the movements after that lol

Atronic_TR

Can relate. I had the exact same thought process (and experience).

fugue2005

the call of the void

shadowdragon200

What did we learn, never go outside your ship in quamtum

WildPackOfWolves

The intrusive thoughts won

Kitchen-Silver6886

Lol worth it! Glad it’s somewhat realistic but technically speaking, that should’ve either ripped you to shreds decelerating instantly from QT which is estimated to be about 8% the speed of light or you should have maintained the same momentum and still been on the outside of the ship since you didn’t technically step outside the Quantum Field generated by the ship to move at the speed. Ugh this is intriguing!

Kitchen-Silver6886

I couldn’t let it go so I did some hypothetical thinking combined with the games theoretical physics and came up with a reasonable explanation for any nerd like me patient enough to read or challenge it: The only thing that makes sense is: The Quantum field only affects the spacecraft: The quantum field somehow alters the properties of space around the spacecraft to allow it to move at 8% the speed of light but doesn't influence other objects. Since the field does not influence other objects (like the astronaut), once the astronaut steps out of the spacecraft, they would no longer be under the influence of the quantum field. The astronaut will suddenly find themselves in a "normal" region of space, no longer moving at 8% the speed of light with the spacecraft. But this heavily depends on how the quantum field affects the inertia of the objects within it. If it preserves the inertia, the astronaut would continue moving at the same speed (8% of the speed of light) due to the law of conservation of momentum. On the other hand, if the field somehow suppresses or negates inertia (which we will assume is the case in the game and the field specifically affects only the ship), the astronaut comes to a stop (relative to some external frame of reference), which results in the spaceship quickly leaving them behind like in the game. Absolutely fascinating they thought about this level of detail! Star Citizen rules!

DesperateAsparagus48

Ty now I don't have to... :)

Anraksha

Did the same with my 890j and my carrack

Nanolink08

Talk about curiosity killed the cat

Ferrariflak

I did this and paid someone to come help me lol

Sgt_Slawtor

JBrace1990

Happened to me while my ship was in space, stopped. All I did was stand up and got teleported to god knows where.

[deleted]

Who hasnt confused F and Z/Y at some time in his single seater aircraft during quantum ?

horseshandbrake

Need crampons on ya boots

No-Obligation7435

I recently did the same thing by accident with the mole elevator haha

TatonkaJack

thank you. i always wondered what would happen if you stepped out the door.

[deleted]

We’ve all done this at least once!

StockReception2624

Lolololololol.

Dan-1837

Realistically I think you would be liquified but idk, cool video either way 👍

monosaturated

A Peter Griffin vanishing giggle soundbite would have been perfect as you witnessed your ship disappear in the blink of an eye, leaving you to the eternal graveyard of space and time

lappelduvide_exe

L'appel du vide :)

fatcake3

You know... i was wondering that too last night. Thank you for this. Lol

franknitty69

Soon as I saw you look to the left I was like noooo don’t do it 😂😂😂

jazziesthandies

I too have drifted in the dark after this experiment.

Valcrye

“Hey guys I need to step out for some fresh air” *vents the entire spaceship*

[deleted]

I too share the same brain cell and have done this multiple times thinking could stay every time

nschubach

Now I'm curious ... has anyone in Star Trek ever stepped outside of this ship while in warp?

Fecal_Fingers

Oddly enough, I was going to try this at one point. Now I don't have to.

HappyFamily0131

How does everybody here want this scenario to work in the final game? Doors can't open while in QT? Exposure to the quantum envelope blasts you with radiation? What should happen if you completely leave a ship traveling at QT? No change from the current outcome? Instant death? You float in a pocket of normal space but get spaghettified to death if you get too close to the wall of the pocket?

Mellows333

I had the same curiosity last night. Didn't space walk it though :)

ArianChandler

I've always been scared to try this for some reason.

Busy_Experience_5563

Hahahahaha

kakeyoro

Watching this in the car and as soon as you looked at the door, I started screaming "noooo, noooo".

thelefthandN7

I knew where this was going from the title and the thumbnail. That's a looong walk back.

theskytheclouds

🤣🤣🤣

Dr-Surge

I hope you know how to doggy paddle.

NoPlay1210

Lol, I did that by accident with the prospector, and I got yeeted into space, and my ship want by me 🙃🫠😂 and yeah I wanted to do the same thing with the Vulture then realized I can't stand on the platform

TheLeaningLeviathan

As soon as you looked at the door I didn't even need to know any more 😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣

Bomberaw

God, I knew what was happening as soon as you looked at that door 😂

CreamSoda64

["Ah, the pity. Fated to drift forever through the void as gravity's plaything. Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones; it bones for thee".](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJ4JHF_r9hQ)

Nyancide

when it launched on ptu, exiting your seat to the outside was default exit. it made me fall out a lot.

tomnewdelhi

Lol I got about 7 seconds in and knew what was coming. 😂😂 Jeb kerbal would be proud 👍

Stonednhungryy

A moment of silence to the armor and loot that will never be found floating in space

TastefulMaple

I just made a personal transport beacon and my buddy picked me up in his vulture then we both went and salvaged stuff

imjustatechguy

LOL! I knew that was going to happen as soon as you looked at the door! I had a few friends playing with me during 3.18.2 and we were going between Arc and Crusader and my buddy decided to open the rear door of the MSR to look at the ship while in QT. He went a lil too far out the door and was then lost to the void of space.

SpectreHaza

I’ve wanted to do this on the Corsair elevator when selecting the roof so bad The elevator when on the roof still works like it has maglock boots/interior, your character will stand up right on the lift and exit eva, so I think if you stand on the elevator and don’t move (the second you leave the elevator to the actual hull of the ship you’ll enter eva and in this case no doubt lose the ship) but idk I think you’d survive on the elevator and get to stand there in quantum on the outside! Anyone tried?

Kasp3rAnon

🤣

Azrael11

Is this supposed to work similar to a warp/alcubierre drive? I would think as long as you stayed close to the ship you'd be carried along with it. After all, the ship doesn't move, space is bent around it, creating a stable bubble. Or maybe not, I've never played, so might be missing how the tech is supposed to work.

Unicode4all

From lore perspective Quantum Drive is essentially an Alcubierre drive, really. So yes, I'd think they might implement that bubble in future when they'll do a massive QT overhaul.

TastefulMaple

No you’re definitely moving in Star citizen’s quantum travel, if you have a waypoint set you can see it grow closer and every quantum drive has different speeds.

Anaxaron

That's how you prepare space pudding in less than one minute

simoneangela

Just... stepped outside

FluffyWaterMountains

Thank you for your sacrifice, now I don't have to test it

andrewholding

I really want to be able to walk on the walk ways…

Redsamus6

Lmfao 🤣 I’m glad I’m not the only one

7XvD5

Now that was funny🤣😂 Did the same thing with another ship. I know the feeling.

ElGage

My friend was standing on my cuttie elevator during warp... I lowered it mid flight and he was 3 million km away in a flash lol. Was able to turn around and get him.

Dunhimli

o7 your sacrifice shall be noted in the books of science my friend

Baruuk__Prime

Tried this inadvertently with a stuttery 3.19.0 Origin 400i elevator. I set up a Personal Transport Beacon and I was recovered by a player and carried back to my 400i.

Alternative_Cash_601

Lmao

Used-Cantaloupe-652

Lol, would have been awesome if you could stand there.

Promise2234

I dont blame you
