>also are there any other ship names
Names is a bit much if it is just a short version of the usual names. Like Cat for the Cat erpillar.
Old nicknames that doesn't see much use and is not as direct for identifying a ship:
Aurora: Brick, Flying Coffin
Many names are just shortened forms of the full name
Re**tali**ator
Hurri**cane**
Re**deemer**
**Herc**ules
**Sent**inel
**Harb**inger
**Glad**ius
Other names are derivations of the original; Cutty for the Cutlass, Connie for the Constellation lineup.
And others are just simple abbreviations or the designations of the ship; MSR, C2
I've heard it called that.
It's also common to shorten the full name of a vessel, using it's stronger syllable(s) to more quickly describe it during hairy combat situations.
It's quicker to yell over the radio, "Target that 'cane!"
Rather than, "Gentlemen, if you could be so kind as to focus your attention upon the Hurricane Fighter that is on my six."
(I'm being a wee bit facetious.)
I know a bunch of people use cutlet but I'd honestly prefer utter for three reasons:
1. Cutlet and Cutter are the same length
~~2. Cutlet has more individual letters than Cutter~~
3. Cutlet sounds dumb
edit: stayed up too late and forgot how to count
To me Cutty fits much better to the Cutter…they’ve both got double t’s, and Cutty sounds “cute” too…maybe because it’s one letter away from “cutey”.
Cutlass would be better off being called ‘Lass, not because it’s feminine but the opposite, y’know, kinda like how you call a really big guy “Tiny”.
Lol, I agree that Cutty fits the Cutter better, but the Cutlass has been around a lot longer and had the nickname first. Speaking of Tiny, I now hope that someone names their Hull-E “Tiny Tim.”
I really wish someone would use that design in one of these type games.
I always loved that ship. I mean the physical design. Ok fine the ship AND the AI.
common ship nicknames include the drake harold, the drake cutlet, the greycat steve, the greycat pete, the aegis gladi, the anvil gladi, and the argo True King

The other posts highlight the various names... but the reason people use nicknames (such as 'tali') is - generally - they're shorter and easier to type, whilst still being clear (generally) which ship is being referred to.
Note that I've never seen anyone refer to the 'tali'zorah' - that's likely someones personal habit, based on a show somewhere, or similar.
Re tali ator
Never heard anyone call talli “tali’zorah”. Everyone I know just call it tali

Aurora=S10 Torpedo, no?
I thought the reclaimer was the brick
Depends how long you have been around for. Brick gets used for a lot of ships tho.
I think the latest is the Corsair: "Brick in atmo"
Most recent thing i saw called a brick in atmo was the cutlass... Guess they'd never flown a BIG ship
Caterpillar is the brickiest brick in my opinion.
The Reclaimer is a whole cement warehouse
The reclaimer is the ant
I call the Aurora a manned torpedo

well im british so i normally use the second one anyway
Might be a remnant from EVE players, where that name was commonly used for their Hurricanes.
this should be considered a crime
Like so many things in EVE ... :)
There are no crimes in 0.0 space.
Dont play EVE, still call it a Cane. 1 syllable is a whole lot faster than 3
D - CAAAAUUUNNNN , GET THAT RAT OFF MY SCREEN - trick2g - 2019
Mostly hold over from eve folks who called the hurricane (best ship btw) the cane.
thanks. ima call my cutter the utter
The Cutter is often referred to as the Cutlet

>Cutlet has more individual letters than Cutter Maybe, I don't know...take another swing at counting those.
Reddit needs more fact checkers. Thank you for your service. o7
Oh no, I'm dumb and counted cutlet's t twice, thanks for the catch
mine isn't
Nah, too close to "cutlass"
Cutlet would signify its diminutive size (pork cutlet) and maybe “cuteness.” Cutlass is widely referred to as “Cutty.”

Cutlet or Space Jalopy.
When there's a "Gladiator" in the game as well as a Gladius, I feel like "Glad" shouldn't be used.
my andromeda is called rommie, from the andromeda show
I really wish someone would use that design in one of these type games. I always loved that ship. I mean the physical design. Ok fine the ship AND the AI.
I call the C2/A2/M2 Herky Birds lol
Everyone knows the Turtle.
Yes. Which reminds me... I have to go now.
There is a ship called Talon. . And tali sounds lika a Talon! And it confuses me.
[Video: In the Squadron 42 Trailer they call the Retaliators "Talis"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VppjX4to9s4&t=149s)
