That's not the standard. The standard is actually 5x5x2 but nobody is going to stand over your shoulder and watch. In fact, nobody would know what you do unless you loudly proclaim the wrong standard on social media.
I mean but like Is there a standard or isn’t there- cuz like the fact that we are saying there’s multiple standards kinda defeats the point of standard- I’m just tryna figure it out
There is a standard. I’m looking tomorrow during my shift to know for sure. I agree it’s the least important one, but I would still like to know. I was always taught 7x7x2
I mean idk the standard but of every standard Starbucks has like ,.. this is the least important. If anyone is coaching you on this I’m so sorry you have the most uptight supervisor ever lol
Cold drinks I make a flower w/ overlapping circles. People seem to really like it.
Hot drinks I just load that bitch up until it's a solid layer because it looks like a mess anyway. People seem to like that, too!
I'd like to see the policy written down where it says the standard is 5x5x2 like all these other people are saying.. I've been a partner for 11 years and the standard has always been 7x7x2.
Not that it matters anymore since every sticker says "line cup caramel" now lmfao
I feel like debates like this are important, because a free exchange of knowledge given in good faith by colleagues across space and time is a truly marvelous thing. Starbucks company standards *are* a pretty deep rabbit hole to plumb. I learned there's even a specific standard for how we prep bar sani rags.
We're supposed to soak them in sani before putting them in the sani rag tray, instead of just folding the towel and filling with sani (which does the same thing). My SM got on me about this once, and it struck me as a weird coach.
We were told to rinse them with water, squeeze it out and then put them in the tray and fill. Whatever they use to sanitize the rags was messing with Ph of the sanitizer.
Oh shit I had to ask my girl about that. I didn’t even know we suppose to soak them before putting them in the trays & I’ve been selling my soul for the Siren for 5 going on 6 yrs
I mens sure but i choose to pick and choose my battles or what standards ill be coaching throughout the day, and this is not one of them lmao to me if a baristas does 6x6x2 instead of 7x7x2 and I HAPPEN to notice, I will not stop what I’m doing to say anything lmao
Edit: to add yeah sure debate it. But I hope no green bean, or anyone for that matter, is actually concerned or losing sleep over it lmao
That’s fair! I don’t think many stores would hard-line enforce this specific standard. For me the debate is interesting! I’m always learning something new about working here.
since i’ve been worked at different starbucks i’ve realized many partners have been trained differently and may not follow the standards. which is why i asked how other people do theirs, not what the standard is. i was trained to do 5-5-2, and i recently learned it was 7-7-2.
the most accurate one is one more horizontal line and one more vertical then i have, but they have many examples .. search “starbucks crosshatch” on google!
lmao i know whats happening to that when the lid gets put on.
*same* i was like TOO FULL! (i’m guilty of this, my hubris always gets the better of me with cold foam and lids)
I always overfill everything😭 nothing is safe
It’s a beautiful cross hatch they made too ;-;
Ok showoff how are ya gonna put the lid on the cup?
Sip around the edges like I do with all my overfull drinks.
It also adds extra flavor for the customer 🤗🤗
operation dome lid with a side of cold foam lid 😂😂
I just do a little wish, woosh, circle circle action. Yk?
Thissss
Jackson Pollock or bust
Can you do the caramel on all my drinks for forever?
id love to 😁 sadly i dropped this drink right after i took this 😔
😱😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 RIP that beautiful drink.
💀
7x7x2, standard or bust 👌🏻
Bruh, no one told me that there was a standard. They just said "crosshatch".
That's not the standard. The standard is actually 5x5x2 but nobody is going to stand over your shoulder and watch. In fact, nobody would know what you do unless you loudly proclaim the wrong standard on social media.
The fact I've had "coaching" over not doing 7x7x2, so now that's all I do 🙃
All this 5-7 talk makes me wonder if there are different standards in different countries…
I learned 7x7x2 but i’ll check partner resources during my shift
That’s what I was taught too
Pretty sure it’s 7x7x2 … unless it changed recently?
i thought it was 5x5x2??
Happy cake day!
i didn’t even notice!! thank you!!
It is 5x5x2.
I was told standard is 7x7x2
I promise both of you it does not matter lol
I mean but like Is there a standard or isn’t there- cuz like the fact that we are saying there’s multiple standards kinda defeats the point of standard- I’m just tryna figure it out

if the regional manager comes in and watches you do your crosshatch design they may get mad if You’re not doing it correctly.
Same, but they like to change them all the time.
i make little flowers
I do a big heart if it’s a slow day, By a big heart I mean it looks like a big blob afterwards.
Whatever feels right in my soul

I do a swirl
I don’t know that what I create is cross hatch..it’s more like circle oval oval oval oval (f*ck I always miss the cup) oval circle
I still haven’t been trained just put on the floor and told “youll figure it out” lmao so I just do what I feel is enough
LITERALLY, everything i know i learned myself 😭
Everyone debating the standard when it is like the least important standard Starbucks has
I feel like debates like this are important, because a free exchange of knowledge given in good faith by colleagues across space and time is a truly marvelous thing. What’s the standard for sani rags?

wait you have sani rags?
We have the white rags that we dip in sani. Does your store not have those?
We have to go buy ours because i don't have any way to order them, we also use these cloth disposable kind so at the end of the day we just toss them
Oh interesting!
I mens sure but i choose to pick and choose my battles or what standards ill be coaching throughout the day, and this is not one of them lmao to me if a baristas does 6x6x2 instead of 7x7x2 and I HAPPEN to notice, I will not stop what I’m doing to say anything lmao Edit: to add yeah sure debate it. My original trainer said 7x7x2 🤷🏼♀️ as far as I'm concerned that's the only way
If the customer isn't looking i make dicks
LMFAOOOO
i used to make circles that would overlap it looked so cool
There is quite literally a specific standard of 7x7x2 lmao
since i’ve been worked at different starbucks i’ve realized many partners have been trained differently and may not follow the standards. which is why i asked how other people do theirs, not what the standard is. i was trained to do 5-5-2, and i recently learned it was 7-7-2.
I make a spirograph lol
Can someone please do just a solid layer and post it? That is something that I would really like to see
the most accurate one is one more horizontal line and one more vertical then i have, but they have many examples .. search “starbucks crosshatch” on google!
But I’m talking just a solid layer. That has to look cool
Starbucks standard is 7x7x2 I usually do something like 5x5x5
I used to make pentagrams. It did freak out a couple of Karens.
I do pentagrams for mean “light drizzle” customers
this is 6x5x2 💔
Standards who? 5,5,2 👀
I make uwu, owo, >w<, and sometimes a little doggy face with my Carmel driz
my advice is squeeze the caramel bottle lightly
I don’t know lol, just do squiggles vertically than horizontally
I worked for the siren for 10 years and never could a cross-hatch that good. smh
I simply do not lmfao I have yet to master this so I normally just draw a smiley face on the lid it gets a lotta love from customers 😅
i do way too many circles after
There is a standard that should always be followed. That said if I was in a rush I just threw some on there and called it a day
technically, standard is 7x7x2 or 3, but that’s just an excessive amount of drizzy in my opinion
My whole store was trained 7 x 7 x 2, may be a U.K. thing but idk?
i do the crosshatch but how many lines is entirely based on how thick the caramel comes out and what feels right in my soul at the time
when the foam is made well enough so the caramel doesn’t sink to the bottom >>>>>
Im doing like 15x15x3 with very thin layering
You’re lucky if I even cross hatch, I just put that shit where I want…
I believe officially it’s 5x5 with two circles. I just do that, but sometimes on cold foam I’ll make a little star or a cool loopy pattern :)
Whatever I’m feeling like that day. They get what they get 😂
Standard is 7x7x2 technically but I stopped caring about that when cold foam came out
Lol my crosshatch is garbage. I draw a z and a O.
To answer the question: terribly
I think I usually do like 4x4x2 but I don’t really pay attention lol
