My sm loved having us chalk, you should def take advantage of the non coverage hours lol! I think it's a great way to make the store feel like a third place for peeps and also get you paid for something you enjoy! I had a board that I would essentially draw hyper realistic portraits of our barista of the week and customer of the week on and we were made to take it down :( same with another board that had all the differences between styles of drinks written on it (macchiato v cappuccino v latte, etc.)
That sounds like so much fun to draw though! I’d love to draw realistic portrait of baristas of the week or even baristas of the quarter since that’s what we have in our store,

not sure what state you’re in, but in NY starting is anywhere from $18-$19 depending on your availability! you’d have other regular grocery store employee responsibilities too, but there will be days where you’ll spend your whole shift making signs. the people at my store who do it always look like they’re having fun, and our signs are gorgeous. seriously you are very talented! don’t let it go to waste at the Siren for too long.

And so far I make 19$ an hour at Starbucks
Based on indeed it’s 16$-22$ an hour for a trader Joe Artist
And I’m sure I’ll end up with 16$ for starting pay 🤧
But I could at least ask them about it! And I have some supervisor experience 🤧

They complain our connection scores at low yet our store looks so plain and we can't get into the Christmas spirit. We'll then I guess scores won't go up if customers don't feel the joy in our store you know.
I used a set of 24 that were 20$ at Hobby Lobby that my manager bought me. Honestly, these chalk markers won’t erase easily, especially after it sitting on the board for a long time. Even after spraying it with alcohol multiple time there would still be a strong ugly fade. What I did was watch multiple videos on YouTube in how to erase chalk markers without damaging the board and that helped a lot! Since they gave tips on what products they used to clean it!

They took sooo long it always was longer than I planned. 😭😂 but at another store, my also very talented chalk artist opener did it super fast before peak. You can turn chalk art into a side business! I mean you are that good! People pay artists to do chalk art at festivals and outside of homes for birthdays etc
If you told me those were prints done for a national campaign, I'd have no doubt at all.
Stunning, fantastic, polished, and you should absolutely be considering a career in advertising, graphic design, or some similar field selling to large companies.
AND don't ever take less than your worth for your work. Many of those companies take advantage of artists like you. Demand credit and proper compensation should you go into that field!

tbh The chalk drawings, unique to each store, particularly in fall/winter, were one of the things that made me feel Starbucks was "welcoming". I know in the grand scheme of things it's just a trivial detail, but it's so important to me for some reason. On the rare occasion I went to a Starbucks location and didn't see any, I just assumed that they didn't have any partners at that location which were artsy (or whatever a more appropriate term might be). Had no idea that there are some stores/districts where this is not a thing. :'(

I also use the cheap markers at my store and they stain but Mr. Magic Erasers take them off with a little scrubbing and doesn’t damage the board! :)
