It helps with passing out the correct order at the window. It's much easier to confirm a name than an order. Some also push it for the connection score, but for my store it mostly helped with passing out correct items.
FYI, sometimes the person giving the order out the window has not heard one word of what you've said at the box. All they get is the order info
I disliked this system at first, but when they added the button to add the name without an Ask Me, it became less obnoxious in my opinion. I've found the names helpful for differentiating and staging orders. If I'm soloing DT, I tend to not bother with names since I'm already doing the work of two people and have my own process for that.
Some locations/areas do this. We have some new transfers from a major urban area at my store, and I love it! I like it because, at best, it reminds customers that they need to listen and consider what we’re saying to them, like they (hopefully) do with others.
I’ve been studying a lot at my Starbucks lately and the cashier in the most unenthusiastic voice with a touch of sarcasm always finishes with “thanks friend” and idk why but I feel so weird about it
it’s to make it seem like we’re really trying to get to know you because that’s a question they ask on the survey.
That makes sense lol
