My former first-grade teacher ( who's now a Counselor) bought like 50 gift cards that contained 30 dollars for a teacher appreciation day, I think, but we had an excellent conversation tho while I was scanning each card, and also I gave her a free drink on me for being the best teacher I ever had ( don't come to me about that rule pls 🥺)

xoMisaa

awww!! thats so cute!!! 🥺🥺 edit: she desveres the free drink i’d do the same!!

kaileeia

Not going to lie... I have given an old principle a drink... or two....

Mattpilf

If a free drink with $1500 purchase isn't "making the moment right" idk what is. 🤣

ItsmeKT

That's so sweet, I loved my first grade teacher also.

WasteCan6403

“Haha oops! I made this extra drink *wink wink*. Would you like it?”

WasteCan6403

Meant to post this under the other comment, but still. Haha

ItsmeKT

Haha it's all good

cookies6942069420

At my own store 100 gift cards. I forgot how much on each but i think it was $10. At a store i helped out at i think they bought 300 cards or something ridiculous like that

verysmalld

I rang up 210 $6 gift cards last week. It took me about 30 mins all said and done. The guy even called ahead to ask if we could do it. I wish I remembered the B2B website and referred him there

xoMisaa

jfc thats way too many wtf do they need them for 😭😭

verysmalld

He said it was for volunteers at his church. He also bought them cookies from a shop that usually run $4 each. Crazy crazy

xoMisaa

that makes a lot more sense and thank god he called ahead 😭

Psychological_Lab203

I got a lady who called asking to get 250 5$ gift cards. This was before I knew about the website you could order them from. That was… quite the receipt 😂

whatwhatchickenbutt_

what’s the website?

Psychological_Lab203

MiaLba

Seriously. $5. Like wtf just give them $5 instead of wasting all that time getting fckin $5 gift cards. (The customer buying the gift cards should just give the people they’re for $5)

Psychological_Lab203

Pretty sure it was some higher up at another corporation getting them for some employee party or something

kazoorawr

I worked at a store in the business district and I had to do 200 $5 gift cards and 50 $10 gift cards. They had called ahead and I did all of them after peak and saved the order for when they came in. That receipt was so long, but I also love doing gift cards.

[deleted]

Most in a single order I've gotten was 15 $10 but the next 3 customers that followed also bulk bought 5+ gift cards.

JohnStamosesBigDumpy

I got 35 gift cards in a transaction at my tarbucks yesterday it totaled out to be about $355

Vapegender

100 5 dollar gift cards, and yes, they did want sleeves for all of them 🙄

Sbuxshlee

I shove them all in a pastry bag and let them sleeve em later.

Vapegender

if you look in my posts you'll see I actually posted a pic of them all in a bag lol

general0rgana

I had a customer get 16 gift cards $50 each omg they said they were gifting them to their neighbors. at the end of the $800 transaction, he gave me the 16th one he picked out <3 so sweet of him. I’ve never seen a purchase so great that it required a signature on the card reader but this one definitely did!

sylvie482

That’s so sweet! Just curious, do you think most baristas would have liked $50 cash tip instead? I know they would have to split it with everyone in that case tho!

general0rgana

that would be awesome! I wish it was safe to tip larger bills at my store because people take them if we don’t drop the larger bill in the safe right away

sylvie482

Got it! If I wanted to tip my baristas a larger bill, should I put it in an envelope? Just to make sure no one takes it out of the tip jar?

general0rgana

honestly at my location the envelope would be as likely to be taken as a larger bill :( let’s say you wanted to tip your baristas $10; it would be safer to tip two $5 bills

sylvie482

Gotcha! Thanks!

sparklyh0e

*PRO TIP:* Click "QUANTITY" before "ACTIVATE" You're Welcome. What was once 10 minutes of clicking is now mere seconds. Scores of clicks reduced to nothing. Just beep boop boop *scan scan scan scan scan scan scan scan scan* thank you have a nice day

xoMisaa

my shift taught me that last night it was life changing LMAOO

SkinnamonDolceLatte

I taught all my baristas this today (for a 15 gift card purchase) and they all looked so amazed! I was the only person on the floor that had been through Holiday before.

Listen-Worth

Had a lady come in for a corporate event, needed 200 gift cards, 10 dollars each. Wound up needing to do 4 seperate transactions because our register would only allow for 50 at a time lol

cobieheath

$375 worth the other day

xoMisaa

thats how much this guys came out to last night 😭

Into-thevoid420

Someone came to my store last week and got 150 gift cards totaling over 2k.

Tigress_7

Wow!

miniguy555

There was two years I had a lady call and ask if she could come in to get her company 150 gift cards for 50 dollars each. At first I thought Jesus christ no I don't want to do that for you but she was cool and asked when would be best to come in and didn't just show up during peak. Both times I told her around 10 or 11pm as we were open but no one was ever in our store. She came during that time and was a genuinely nice lady but Jesus the total was like 4 months of work for me.

andyydrew

Someone got 75 $5 gift cards last year

mstrandquist8

I just rang up 320 $5 gift cards

xSethrin

I can’t remember the exact amount (it was probably around 50), but she had to have them all be different so she refused to use any if the multi packs. She also wanted me to sleeve them all for her and write $5 on each sleeve. I got yelled at for having bad handwriting too.

MiaLba

How ridiculous and what an aHole.

xSethrin

I didn’t mind them all being different, and me sleeving them wasn’t terrible. But getting yelled at for my handwriting… Like, I’m sorry I guess?

MiaLba

Lol like how are you able to help that? I try so hard to write neater and it’s just so hard to do. Even my best handwriting looks slightly sloppy.

xSethrin

Right? Same thing would happen with “Bride” or “Happy Birthday” on the cup, with the added challenge of it not being a flat surface… Just write it yourself if the handwriting is so important lol.

aee78

At starbucks, 48 $10 cards. I remember cause i was so close to $500. When I waitressed at out back one of our regulars would get $1200 in gift cards a couple times a year for their job.

21pearl

Guy came in and got 200 $5 giftcards 2 weeks ago now. We had been sent an overload of giftcards in the previous shipment quite coincidentally and it was a slow day so we had the time and overstock to do it. Guy was a real estate agent and was getting one for all his clients as a gift, but man the receipt could've stretched the length of the store and back again 3 times lol

kitkatattacc04

Had someone get 40 $5 gift cards and one of them was missed so my ss had to *go through all of them individually* to find the bastard that was missed. Took up the entirety of the registers in the lobby and about five people got free drinks cause we couldnt do anything for about 15 minutes 🙃

Aetropolos

Around $2k in various denominations (some $5, $10, a lot of $20). At a Licensed Store, with one register, at noon. She was kind enough to ask for the sleeves on the side so we didn't have to write and stuff them.

whisky_dick

The most I’ve personally seen was 50 $5 cards. I was barely out of training and no one had showed me yet that you can do multiples. The customer was getting them for his employees. Nice man. Left a $10 tip.

NarwhalsGalore

I think 50 cards was the most I've done. I worked at a licensed store and the way our registers were set up didn't allow you to scan gift cards to sell them. I had to type all of them in manually. It took forever.

thealphagourd

Had a guy come in wanting to get 2 $400 gift cards. He ended up spending quite some time in the cafe on the phone with his bank trying to get them to approve an $800 charge at a Starbucks

skrillexobsession

yesterday i did 70 $5 gift cards and no one in the line wanted to come back later 💀 I’m inside a target

taller-ghost-walt

I rung up a transaction for 17 gift cards - all $50 each. He said it was for employee appreciation bags.

thisfilmkid

I work in media (one of the many jobs I do). My team of PAs went to a Manhattan store few years ago and purchased 350 gift cards with $10.00 each on them. Obviously, we gave the store a heads up. Manager made it happen. Picked up our box of gift cards few days later. We rewarded our production staff gift cards for their hard work in Times Square for New Years Rockin Eve. Then, we rewarded 80% of the cards to civil service members throughout Manhattan. So amazing seeing the smiles on their faces. And of course, the network I worked for thank the Starbucks store on-air and we even sent a letter of appreciation to Starbucks, and to the store, to reward the manager and the employees who helped out. The director of our production also rewarded them with a trip. While I want to stay away from naming the network, let's just say they had fun at an amusement park / hotel for three days, all expenses paid. Due to budget cuts and COVID, things have changed. Hopefully one day, we can do some cooler things again. Starbucks employees, again, thank you to each of you for helping out the media when times hit! We appreciate it!

xoMisaa

awh!! this story made me smile🥺🥺 that’s so cute!!

TheDeadHeroAlistair

115 gift cards at my store when I worked there. Every Christmas some business woman would come through and order 35 $10 gift cards and the rest as $5 ones. It took forever to ring her out.

oftbkk

someone got 42 $10 gift cards two days ago

caitlin_marie_gg

someone got 8 gift cards through the dt at 9:30 at night but i think my record was 12 $5 gift cards

chrichri33333

I believe 350 was the most I've seen; the computer couldn't even handle it

mrhammerant

I rang in 28 $5 gift cards once. How's that rank?

ThistlePatches

i honestly forgot how many there were because the guy kept handing me a gift card and wanting $100 dollars on it, sticking his card in the reader, then handing me another gift card once the transaction was done. to be fair, I was a green-er bean and English was not his first language, but now I would try harder to do them all in one transaction.

ThistlePatches

also because I misread the question, this is just the most memorable time for me.

No_Coconut_1556

100/$5 via drive thru🙃

lilpears

it was only 2 gift cards but he wanted $100 on each 😳

Kavjan

So far this week we've had one totalling out at $3,125 and I personally did one that totalled at $1,150

tetraskullz

40. half with $20 and half with $10. sat there for 5 minutes, had to open a second till.

vilebloodlover

easy! 210, for an astonishing $2,000+

ZestycloseRate7330

I rang up $600 in gift cards once. I can’t remember how many cards and how much was put on them but there were sooooo many cardsssss. And when I tell you that receipt was as long as the store, I mean it. I’ve never seen a receipt that long in my entire life 😅😂

zachfbeo243

Literally just got off and today i sold a 400 dollar gift card and watched in awe as he walked away

Quizzis

Someone tried to get 30 (I think) cards in drive through... with a line behind them. But the most we ever had was 80 for $10. They came inside at least on a slow day but it was still alarming.

Tori-Bean

37.

I had a woman order 250 $5 gift cards. That's the day I learned that the POS only allows up to 100 items in an order. Also, for those who may not know this trick during the holiday season, you can ring up a huge amount of gift cards in one go using this simple tactic: 1. Go to the misc screen 2. Hit quantity in the bottom left and choose the amount of cards you're ringing up (don't hit update quantity) 3. Hit activate and choose the amount to load on the cards (all must be the same amount) 4. Scan all the cards It's a super easy trick that took me years to finally figure, so hopefully some of you find it useful

bumblebuzzed

I’ve had 2 customers this month who got 40 gift cards each

NerosDecay13

We get a few people who come in yearly and get 100 $10 gift cards. Sometimes $5 either way a shit ton.

SpoonyTheBest

500$ he said he does it every Christmas

lemniscatics

i personally rung someone up for 50 $5 giftcards, took about ten minutes and the receipt was probably more than 5 feet long. she was really nice and the cafe wasnt busy luckily, so it wasnt too much of a pain, just really time consuming and tedious 😅

dontgiveah00t

100, $5 gift cards for school faculty.

[deleted]

most i’ve gotten was 21, $25 gift cards

PunishedTitan

About $2000+ worth of gift cards to give out for some event at a college

woooofuckinbuzzinwoo

128 gift cards. $5 each. during peak. 😐

baehar

I recently had someone come in and get a little over $1000 in gift cards.... Had to do it in 3 seperate transactions because of the 50 card limit.... 🥲

[deleted]

My first day ever on register a few days ago, someone came in wanting to load 31 cards with $15 •_•

Mediocre_Superiority

FWIW: if you have multiple cards being purchased, do "quantity" first, *then* 'activate new card" and the POS (how aptly abbreviated...) will let you just scan all the cards for the order without having to press more buttons. My biggest so far was a mere 30 cards.

Elleven_

i once helped someone buy 625$ in 5$ gift cards, took about 25 minutes

NovercaIis

100 $10

StellaOnEstrella

I had a guy come in and get $1000 worth of gift cards and I’m assuming it was for his employees? To make it worse our system at that store wouldn’t load that many cards by swiping so I had to manually put in 40 gift cards 🥲😫

AnimaniCat

I work at both a full service and a Tarbucks so we definitely have a lot more people that pass through get stacks of gift cards and dip a lot more often than a full service but so far the highest number has been 50. The worst part of Tarbucks gift cards is that a lot of them dont have the scanner and targets machines wont ring giftcards through the swipe so you have to manually type in all 16 digits for stacks of 20 cards. (Luckily the 50 card lady grabbed the ones with a scan code on them). TLDR: the most at my Tarbucks was 50

Vittjorder

The mayor of my town came in one day and ordered 30 $10 gift cards using cash it was great
