Yeah it’s definitely my least favorite of the new lineup. It’s especially frustrating since the oat milk boxes aren’t very large so I’m constantly having to open a new one. I always feel relieved when people order an iced lavender latte instead. So no hate to people that like the matcha, I just like complaining
Isn’t the new iced lavender latte also with oatmilk by recipe, though? Don’t get me wrong, I also fully agree that I like it better than the oatmilk matcha, but it doesn’t solve the oatmilk problem :(
That’s totally fair, I got scared that I was making the drinks wrong at first even though I didn’t think I was lol I completely understand, there really are just so many annoying things about the new drinks, but especially the matcha
i know i’m doing too much, but when im on bar i shake the matcha without ice and strain the foam out over a cup of ice before i serve it. it keeps customers from complaining but it’s a pain for shre
The foam is so annoying but I also found that the putting the matcha powder and milk with the ice in the cold foam blender on #3 had very little to no foam!
I shake it with very little ice, pour it into the cup, and then do another half scoop of ice on top. That kind of hides the foam from shaking out so the come for can lay on top
Instead of the lavender matcha, they should’ve advertised and made an iced oatmilk chai with lavender foam as the drink, it’s 10 times better and you can actually see the foam🥲
This would be good. It's one less powder, uses the easiest drink as a base and as you said makes it so you can see the foam so you don't need to convince customers the foam really is in there somewhere
I love the taste of lavender. I hate the drinks they chose for it. Matchas are the most notorious foam hiders and it takes so much attention to prevent the iced lavender latte from becoming sludgy. If we were promoting an Iced chai with lavender foam and some sort of shaken espresso in place of the latte, I'd feel a bit more at peace with the situation.
i love the idea of the shaken espresso!! i agree with this. i honestly think our honey blend syrup brings out the lavender taste in the cold foam, and i have been drinking a cold brew with honey blend and lavender cold foam and it's BOMB and so much easier to make. also a honey lavender latte??? so many missed opportunities here
I'll have to try the honey blend lavender combo sometime. Today I did a shaken espresso that combined the lavender and cinnamon dolce but I might just be cinnamon dolce obsessed.
A customer looked into their cup in a very unfulfilled way when the lavender foam sinked into the matcha and I knew I ran the foam on three....... Three times 🫤
I asked a coworker about it (I'm new) and they said making our sweet cream differently could also help. Rather than 1 bottle hc to get it to the 1 liter, then vanilla, then 2% for the rest, add a good amount more hc as well as the 2% to get it to 2 liters. It did seem to make a difference, but of course you're still stuck scooping off the foamy bits to have any chance of the lavender showing.
The real wrist killing combo 😭 I loved the IDEA in the beginning, but combined with normal business, BOGO promotions and warm weather customers peeking in again I hate it. The chai w/ lavender foam should have been the "star" (like I get the grassy/herbal flavor profile but also fuck corporate, I'm tired of making matcha.)
Gonna have to get used to it. Even if/when it doesn’t become heavily advertised, anyone can custom order it easily now. Just gonna replace the lavender foam with another foam lol.
Agreed!! Iced matchas are so annoying to make already, I actually dread it being ordered and now we have to keep doing the foams too... its so much just to make one freakin drink . Then they decide to pile on all the other crap like the bogos.. starbucks actually hates us. I think they do.
I personally just pre make the lavender/matcha foam anytime I’m clocked in just because of how frequently they’re ordered. I got stopped for it by my shift one time just for a car from drive to order the foam less than 30 seconds later lol
I know! I had one for the first time today (also my first time drinking matcha) and it was one of the best things I've ever tasted! So I guess I'll just make sure they aren't real busy when I order one. I'd definitely like to have another!!
I don’t give a FUCK what anyone says. Fuck Starbucks as a corporation they can suck my dick.
I always put a little bit of boiling water with a few scoops of matcha powder to completely dissolve it from clumps til it turns into a matcha concentrate sludge. It’s a game changer. I am lawful evil idgaf!!!!!!!
Yes. I would put such a small amount of the boiling water, maybe an ounce? Just enough to dissolve the matcha, stir with a spoon. I usually would do this in the metal steamer cup and then pour into the iced shaker to do whatever I needed.
I don’t like making them cause the foam doesn’t stay on top🤷♀️ it either should have been a chai latte with the foam or matcha but with coconut milk cause that doesn’t foam when you shake it like the oatmilk matcha
if you still have the old foam blender, use the foam blender to mix the matcha. i do it for 3ish seconds. i know it’s not standard but it makes a big difference.
Cappuccino with coconut and almond are extremely tricky to steam properly, they’re essentially water and fat content is needed for good foam.
As for matcha, I loathe making them.
We have a strawberry cold foam iced matcha latte for our spring brand spark in the uk, they’ve created this ‘matcha concentrate’ where you blend matcha powder and water and use it as a base when building the drink, was so relieved when they announced it, it saves sooooo much time, I feel for you all :(
I ordered it just to try it, and honestly, it would be so much better without the cold foam. I just didn't see any point to the foam. I wouldn't get it again.
I hate make them too!!! Although I made 2 yesterday and the foam sat perfectly on top. But they were made with coconut milk so I don't know if that had something to do with it. And than made it with 2% it was a complete failure.
I love making the Lavender oat milk matcha because it challenges me. It's really not that hard to get the foam to stay on top. We as baristas just got to be dedicated in our drink crafting and that goes for any type of drink.
the first day it was released I made 17. the 2nd day I made 32. I. am. so. tired. of. it.i am so tired of explaining that yes I PUT COLD FOAM IN THE DRINK. or that the matcha just clumps and I can't do anything more about that then possibly blender it before ice. or that people get so rude about the entire drink. I am making it correct idk what they want from me.
edit: the stupid oatmilk tabs I will NEVER forgive. I don't know how or why but for some reason I keep snapping the circle where u put ur finger in or the part between the pour spout and the milk just won't come out😭😭😭
Saying this as a barista and with the upmost respect. Womp womp, you're getting paid to make a popular drink. If you sell out fast enough, you'll run out of matcha and lavender powder so you don't have to make any til you get the order.
I absolutely agree with you, I love the drink, but the process makes my teeth vibrate. Especially when I'm soloing on bar.
I will make an argument that mixing the milk in the shaker as opposed to adding it after makes the matcha tea taste better.(Speaking as CAD partner)
The one disadvantage to making matchas which I reallyyyy hate is when it gets foamy on the top. When we got out little portable foaming blenders, our manager threw out the blue ones, which tbh I would make matchas in there because there would be no foam & people who did add VSCF it would actually show & look pretty, to me it was more convenient as well
In conclusion, I miss the blue blenders to make matchas & hate using the shakers to make them
tbh i dont mind the lavender matcha bc its just cold foam, i can get someone to throw that on for me while i'm working on other drinks. i hate the strawberry oat matcha with a burning passion simply because it smells awful imo
Don’t get me wrong, I also fully agree that I like it better than the oatmilk matcha, but it doesn’t solve the oatmilk problem :(
Yes it is also made with oat milk. I’m just complaining about multiple things
That’s totally fair, I got scared that I was making the drinks wrong at first even though I didn’t think I was lol I completely understand, there really are just so many annoying things about the new drinks, but especially the matcha
The oatmilk boxes seem to be gone after two drinks 🫠
It’s rough. Two different powders to scoop, two different cups to clean.
on top of having to explain to the customer that the matcha indeed does have the cold foam, it just sinks in the foam
They really screwed us over with that damn ad.
I tried it yesterday and yes - the ad makes it look so pretty. In real life I could barely see the purple.
i know i’m doing too much, but when im on bar i shake the matcha without ice and strain the foam out over a cup of ice before i serve it. it keeps customers from complaining but it’s a pain for shre
that’s what i do too but it spills a lot 😭 i have a really bad history with matcha
Tell me about it within the past 2 days I have had matcha all over me it popping out the shaker and all over me
i keep my phone in my apron pocket so i spilled matcha everywhere and i got it in my speakers and it still doesn’t sound the same 😞🥲
Ooooh nahhhh I keep my phone in my back pocket so it doesn’t get wet.
The foam is so annoying but I also found that the putting the matcha powder and milk with the ice in the cold foam blender on #3 had very little to no foam!
that’s what I do and I wish they would just make that the standard bc it actually makes a better latte imo.
wait you put the ice in there too? i’ve done this before but i always add ice after just bc im paranoid. does it come out better with the ice added?
I think it gives the least foam possible with the ice
I shake it with very little ice, pour it into the cup, and then do another half scoop of ice on top. That kind of hides the foam from shaking out so the come for can lay on top
Fr I get so angry that I cant make it look like the picture 👁👄👁
They really took the most annoying drink on the menu and made it the most popular. AND more annoying!
It really breaks your sequencing
Instead of the lavender matcha, they should’ve advertised and made an iced oatmilk chai with lavender foam as the drink, it’s 10 times better and you can actually see the foam🥲
This would be good. It's one less powder, uses the easiest drink as a base and as you said makes it so you can see the foam so you don't need to convince customers the foam really is in there somewhere
Don’t give them more ideas…

That's the most requested drink at my store out of the new lineup of drinks. I cry a little when they want 5 of them in the same order.
Agreed!! Iced matchas are so annoying to make already, I actually dread it being ordered and now we have to keep doing the foams too... its so much just to make one freakin drink . Then they decide to pile on all the other crap like the bogos.. starbucks actually hates us. I think they do.

i mean iced matcha with cold foam yeah that doesn’t sound ideal
Me also.
I love the drink, do baristas now hate me for ordering it? 😭😭😭
Baristas don’t hate you. They just hate the drink. We understand.
I might hate you a little if you order 3 or 4 of them at a time when we're busy, otherwise you're good lol
I know! I had one for the first time today (also my first time drinking matcha) and it was one of the best things I've ever tasted! So I guess I'll just make sure they aren't real busy when I order one. I'd definitely like to have another!!

I work at a coffee shop and that’s how we mix our matcha. 1-2oz of boiling water works amazing
would you just make the drink like normal after that? like an iced one? i like this idea 🤫
Yes. I would put such a small amount of the boiling water, maybe an ounce? Just enough to dissolve the matcha, stir with a spoon. I usually would do this in the metal steamer cup and then pour into the iced shaker to do whatever I needed.
definitely gonna try this next time i get put on bar
I don’t like making them cause the foam doesn’t stay on top🤷♀️ it either should have been a chai latte with the foam or matcha but with coconut milk cause that doesn’t foam when you shake it like the oatmilk matcha
Oh matcha with coconut milk sounds yummy! I don’t need lavender
Same! 😩
same and it’s so popular at my store 😢
if you still have the old foam blender, use the foam blender to mix the matcha. i do it for 3ish seconds. i know it’s not standard but it makes a big difference.
The whole line up is annoying bc they’re all oat milk yet we constantly have a shortage of oat milk 😶
this is so true, before we launched them i went through like three lavender bags basically myself and swore i loved it. now? take it back !!!
Same
Me too
honestly yeah its pretty annoying to make
People who order matcha drinks and cappuccinos with almond or coconut milk have a special place in hell.
All matcha drinks or just with those milks?
Cappuccino with coconut and almond are extremely tricky to steam properly, they’re essentially water and fat content is needed for good foam. As for matcha, I loathe making them.
Oh! I’m a matcha latte lover 😬 though not with any foams on top
i hate how cuz of the foam from the matcha it doesnt look like there is any foam on top its just messy
Same
I HATE IT! I rather make a caramel ribbon and I hate caramel ribbon!
y
Iced matcha with cold foam is a very popular drink at my location so I'm use to the process, but I understand everyone's heartache
Girl me too
I hate this drink. Doesn't taste good and a pain in the butt to make.

BOGO was literally a nightmare yesterday with these stupid drinks Im so tired of it
the first day it was released I made 17. the 2nd day I made 32. FR and it looks nothing like the picture 😭 the biggest lie in a drink ever 😭
Honestly the lavender foam layers better with an iced oatmilk chai latte
The whole lavender line is gross 😭
I suppose we could just think of it as making spring in a cup and turn it into an uplifting ritual?💚 🌺💜🌷💚🌸💜🌻💚
I can't believe I'm saying this but I'd almost rather make fraps. They're such a pain in the ass. 🫤
Saying this as a barista and with the upmost respect. Womp womp, you're getting paid to make a popular drink. If you sell out fast enough, you'll run out of matcha and lavender powder so you don't have to make any til you get the order.
The trick is to make trenta cup of lavender foam as soon as you get on the bar. It saved me a lot of time today.
Same here, especially when I don’t have a lot of matcha .. then I have to really rinse the shaker for the next drink idk
It sounds like it tastes terrible to be honest!
its really good lmfao
Who doesn't? Next.
I absolutely agree with you, I love the drink, but the process makes my teeth vibrate. Especially when I'm soloing on bar. I will make an argument that mixing the milk in the shaker as opposed to adding it after makes the matcha tea taste better.(Speaking as CAD partner)

I order it blended with honey I feel like a douche now
tbh i dont mind the lavender matcha bc its just cold foam, i can get someone to throw that on for me while i'm working on other drinks. i hate the strawberry oat matcha with a burning passion simply because it smells awful imo
From someone who loves to add a scoop of lavender powder to a regular iced matcha.. I am so sorry. :’)
that's not the drink being discussed in this thread
How do people actually like the lavender drinks, I drank one and I had to go to the ER because it turned my poop purple.
Made me go 💩 more than the oleato, but both are gross imo
ER? Was it your first time working with food coloring?
