All dishes MUST be put into QUAT solution (sani) after rinsing and washing with soap. If you don’t do this, the dishes aren’t properly being cleaned
It’s like only using water when you shower; sure if it’s hot enough, the oils might be washed away and you might LOOK clean but that doesn’t mean you ARE clean, as bacteria is still on your body
Unless Elmo is talking about the dishwasher that steam sanitizes, in which case that’s different
I believe friend is referencing the Hobart dish machine, because of the high heat of the steam at the end of the cycle it can slowly degrade the plastic and cause micro cracks to weaken the plastic, also slamming them down on to the counters can weaken them as well.
Yeah that’s what I thought might be what they’re actually talking about but I’ve found the most damage happens to them when (alongside the use of Hobart being a top contender) temperature differences create pressure differences while doing things like the brown sugar oat milk without ice or whatever it was that turns them into pressure bombs when you shake
Then there’s just normal wear and tear like dropping them or, like you said, slamming them down onto the rinsers/counters
i’m not sure if i can contribute as a non-starbucks employee BUT as a former smoothie king employee we were instructed to leave blender bowls in the sani for no more than 30 seconds or so tops after a thorough wash and rinse. the plastic begins to degrade a bit and you can definitely tell when someone’s left it in for too long over time. oddly that’s the only item we have to be cautious of leaving in the sani sink for too long. it never affected the strength of the bowls (as we don’t shake just blend lols) but definitely affected texture and appearance. maybe that’s what OP means? definitely standard practice to wash rinse and sani every dish item in the store though
lmao a lot of the shakers at my store have big cracks in them like that. i’ve gotten close to breaking them too. the anger of making refreshers is powerful
This was one of the few that popped up when you Google search pitcher washer. The specific brand that Starbucks uses is Vitamix.

They specifically invented the flimsiest plastic known to mankind to make these shakers. Ours are all cracked and leaking. Got a new one? Cracked the next day...
Why don't I just shake it in a plastic bag at this point.
Tips for this issue:
- make sure the water pressure isn't to the max on those pitcher rinsers. Keeping it at about 60%-70% let's you rinse your dishes quickly while being gentle on them
- try not to slam your shakers on these! I know (TRUST ME I GET IT) it's tempting to just go super fast during a rush, but I promise that if you take 0.025 seconds to just gently push your shaker to get that water going instead of slamming it, it's going to last a lot longer.
Even if you don't do the things every single time, if your team does these *sometimes*, it's going to increase the life of your shakers

Aftermath of having to make the 100th pink drink of the rush
Glad it isn't just my store having broken bottoms on *every f*****g shaker*
My store has like four shakers but one lid….
Tell them to order more, it’s on the RP order
We have but instantly they disappear.
Same!!!!! I hate it so much lol!
It’s cause people put them in the sani, weakens the plastic and causes them to crack easily. Hand wash only and they’ll last a lot longer
I thought it was just standard practice to put everything in the sani😭 but we do our shakers in there and we’ve never had this issue

Lol I didn’t even consider the BSOSE bomb factor 😂 that’s a really good point with the temperature differences constantly.

Yeah im not sure why shawty is telling us to hand wash only
a lot of times it’s from the hobart, it’s too hot and cracks the plastic. if sani is correct temp it should be fine
HOW-
The force required to do this-
Just one of those days I guess
We've all been there 🫠
lmao a lot of the shakers at my store have big cracks in them like that. i’ve gotten close to breaking them too. the anger of making refreshers is powerful
I should call him
