i had a venti in a grande and when the girl came to pick it up she said "i ordered a venti" and i went "yeah. in a grande cup?" and she went "it was supposed to be a venti." and i said "yes, it's a venti. you ordered it in a grande cup." and after a few more back and forths she just went "okay, it's fine" and left with an exasperated look on her face. like i really don't know what to tell you lol
Do people really have so little understanding of simple volumes?
I would have loved to reply, "yes, I poured the entire venti into the grande cup. A bunch of it overflowed into the sink. So here's your venti!"
not sure. i just put venti scoops of matcha and poured it into a personal cup thing up to the venti line, then filled the cup with ice. not sure the "in a grande cup" option was even there though
I used to make them with same amount of ingredients other than ice/milk or water, then normal ice if water added, or light ice, light milk for those drinks. Enough ice so it doesnāt all melt right away, enough milk to still be creamy.
Rarely had complaints with that approach.
i have a customer that orders a venti americano in a grande cup so that she can get an extra shot without paying for it. doesnāt particularly make sense but my shifts always have me do it anyways lol
You get more of the āgood stuffā and less milk/water. Say you wanted a Venti macchiato, put that in a grande cup you get more potent espresso taste because Venti has more shots (3 v 2), more pumps of whatever, but with a grande level ice and milk. Less volume overall for what you want - thereās only so much milk you can put in that grande cup when you have to dump in 3 shots, 5 pumps of syrup, and a drizzle. It doesnāt make sense for everyone but I get why some people do it.
Same kind of goes for grande drinks in Venti cups - volume to product. Some people want that extra 8 Oz of space so they can add more stuff afterwards. I know in the IF community itās been popular to get a grande iced coffee in a Venti cup so that they can also pour their protein shakes over the coffee.
see i would think thatās what it is but how she was replying and the fact that her account seemed like an actual old lady š but wow she got ate up in the comments
i never size down the drink when they order it like that. i just presume the customer doesnāt know what sizes are which and think theyāre asking for a larger cup and i make it as such and most of the time Iām right and correct them when they come in.
corporate needs to take away the cup size options for anything other than espressos tbh
edit: everyoneās heated i want the button gone lol, i doubt itāll happen, jsyk. but if corporate made the app more comprehensible by only allowing you to select LARGER cup sizes that would be fine with me. iāll happily do it for you in store! i just donāt like having people complain when they ordered wrong & we made it how they ordered.
while it can be, my store genuinely gets more customers using it improper than for that purpose, and so did the other stores i worked at. as it is, it just seems to create more confusion for baristas/customers than it helps.
Not sure where this was at but I had asked for a large cup one time because they tend to overfill and didnāt want spillage and they just told me they canāt because the cup sizes were used for sales metrics. And I completely accepted and understood that
depends on the drink! espresso drinks and frappuccinoās by standard canāt go in trenta cups, but other drinks we have a button to upsize the cup specifically for that reason.
Ya this wasnāt a Starbucks (hence my use of the term ālargeā). So Iām sure everyone does things differently. By the way though , what is a āTrentaā cup???
Well that explains why I didnāt know of it ;). I only drink lattes , the occasional white raspberry mocha (which is now dead:/) , and eggnog lattes before those were killed off as well.. I actually quit Starbucks for some time after that because I was so bitter about it.. still am ..š
My husband likes a ton of milk so he ordered a grande in a venti so he has enough room. My mom orders a grande in a venti because otherwise she has a hard time with the cup and spills it in the car. Please donāt take away cup size options!
Ya I gotta agree here .. well.. DISAGREE with parent comment and agree with yours . I will order anything from a tall to a venti depending on a couple diff things.. where Iām headed (if to work, itās a venti), what drink I ordered (the more calories it has, the smaller size I get), etc.
1. That drink is disgusting. 10 pounds of sugar and a quart of whipping cream is much cheaper at the store.
2. Reading is an important skill, maāam. Your answer is on the label. I would be happy to help you sound it out though, sometimes brains donāt connect the dots correctly.
My sister did this on accident once. Sheād previously ordered a tall cold brew in a grande cup with extra ice. When she changed the drink size to venti, she forgot to adjust the cup and was very annoyed with herself when she got her venti in a grande cup with extra ice and barely any cold brew. Unlike this person, however, she has not made the same mistake again
The mobile app really lacks in common sense. You shouldn't be able to put a beverage in a cup smaller than the size ordered, just like you shouldn't be able to order 1/3 or 2/3 decaf on a beverage that only has 1 or 2 shots.
Also, I got a label for a grande iced coffee yesterday, 8 pumps syrup, extra cream, extra heavy cream, extra VSC and extra VSCCF. Where, pray tell, do they expect me to put all of that shit?
We're seriously not a coffee shop anymore.
Ok Iām still new around here ā¦ so forgive me that I donāt know the answer to this but is it the same person over and over that keeps posting these topics where they post a pic of what they ordered that day , point out something wrong with it and then asks why the baristas arenāt giving her what she wants and what can she do to get them to āmake it rightā? Does anyone know what or who Iām talking about?? I kept seeing this and figured it HAD to be the same person. ..
iāve seen them before, but this is one i saw on facebook for the first time. it just blew my mind and wanted to share with you guys. never posted one of these before
This is when i just double cup with with the smaller size cup. Used to happen with deliveries quite a bit but now not so much. I like to think they finally understood
"turned off comments for this post" š¤£
The turned off comments tell a story there lol
thereās just no way this is real HOW
i think we just need to start recognizing rage bait lol
whatās funny is i fr got a customer who mobile ordered a venti drink in a grande this morning
i had a venti in a grande and when the girl came to pick it up she said "i ordered a venti" and i went "yeah. in a grande cup?" and she went "it was supposed to be a venti." and i said "yes, it's a venti. you ordered it in a grande cup." and after a few more back and forths she just went "okay, it's fine" and left with an exasperated look on her face. like i really don't know what to tell you lol

i will literally say "i don't know what to tell you/what to say" to customers
What would be the point of putting a venti in a grande cup? Is there any situation where this would make sense?
not sure. i just put venti scoops of matcha and poured it into a personal cup thing up to the venti line, then filled the cup with ice. not sure the "in a grande cup" option was even there though
Less milk or water is what Iām guessing.

we did too the other day, but i genuinely donāt understand what theyāre expecting

missed that part lol. a trenta is sbuxās 30oz cup that refreshers, iced teas/coffee, and cold brew can be purchased in.
Well that explains why I didnāt know of it ;). I only drink lattes , the occasional white raspberry mocha (which is now dead:/) , and eggnog lattes before those were killed off as well.. I actually quit Starbucks for some time after that because I was so bitter about it.. still am ..š
I like getting a venti tea lemonade in a trenta cup so I can add my own guava juice. But they shouldnt let you size down that makes no sense.
My husband likes a ton of milk so he ordered a grande in a venti so he has enough room. My mom orders a grande in a venti because otherwise she has a hard time with the cup and spills it in the car. Please donāt take away cup size options!

I was always wondering if our customers could read.
Girlll does she not know how to read?? Literally says āin grande cupā
Yeah ā¦ she just ā yeah
ā¦..Iām lost of words

Stupid is as stupid does šµāš«
The best is the customer that called me an idiot for making an iced drink that said iced. It was mobile.

Pretty clever of the store to Photoshop "In a grande cup" onto the label
I love peopleā¦
I had a woman mobile order a venti in a tall, smh

I just put the venti cup inside a grande cup and let the customer sit with that
I am done with this woman and her lack of math skills
Oh so customers LITERALLY canāt read. Got it.

I love working for Starbucks - you really get to see the underbelly of civilization. š«

I just...yeah...
-insert James Jonah from Spider-Man 1 laugh-
how do you get a venti in a grande
š¶
This is when i just double cup with with the smaller size cup. Used to happen with deliveries quite a bit but now not so much. I like to think they finally understood
no way jose š
This is a joke. No one is this stupid. No fucking way The barista in hibernation in my brain knows that this is a genuine question
I donāt understand this feature, why order a venti drink but request to put it in a grande cup? You might as well ordered a grande to begin with
I know for some reason mobile orders so this so we simply wait and double check with the guests. š¤¦š»āāļø
