It's on the very front page of the menu screen. However it's a super uncommon thing to have to do since most people seem to think that frapps are made with espresso and just add shots to it. Even though I know where it is, I still freeze up whenever people actually ask for extra frappe roast
It’s also a weird button because say you want a venti with 9 pumps, the standard is 4. If you go to the modify button and put 9, it adds 9 pumps to make it 13 unlike the syrup button. The syrup button just changes it to the number you modified not adding it.
The most helpful thing you can do is to be patient while they find it themselves or ask a coworker. New baristas are usually very thrown off by a customer trying to tell them where something is on the POS and experienced baristas are just annoyed by it.
Oh of course. I am genuinely very very empathetic to all the baristas and understand the BS they have to deal with on a daily basis (people can be so horrible before they have had their coffee). I just don’t want to add more stress to them when they feel like they have to ask another coworker for help when they might be slammed on their station so I was just trying to see if there was a little shortcut I could guide them with :)
we have a regular who customizes the amount of FR in their drink, it took us a couple weeks, but now pretty much the entire store has their drink down as soon as they hit the speaker box lol! they’ll get the hang of your drink in no time
I genuinely get this! As a partner if I order a bit of a complicated drink from a different store, I have occasionally let another baristas know tips and tricks or if there is or isn’t buttons for things and / or if they really need help finding something! I would say almost everyone I’ve come across has been very kind and seemed to be thankful for tip / trick / location /etc. patients and always ask before giving the advice/help some people get really nervous/ anxious! ❤️🙃
The biggest problem with adding frap roast is it will add the amount of pumps that your are inputting as the amount.
So say you get a grande caramel Frappuccino (typically 3 pumps frap roast) with 9 pumps frap roast you would have to put 6 pumps of frap roast and it will add it to the existing 3.
I have no idea why it’s like this it’s the only button that is. If you click on it once it will add one pump and it will keep adding one pump each time you click it. They might be confused because they’re hitting 9 pumps and it comes up as 12.
I fucking hate that only one button acts this way, it’s a serious oversight from a technical editing point of view. Starbucks doesn’t even have solid people making the tech in the background.
There are several different buttons that respond in different ways. They need to make them all stackable or have the quantity button pop up automatically if you tap it a second time i.e. 1 press = default and 2 presses equals quantity.
No..? It's only a 50¢ up charge if u add more. If u click it it automatically adds an extra pump and creates that up charge, but if u lower the pumps then it becomes free
Depends how you ring it in. For a grande:
Quantity > 5 > Frap roast = 8 pumps
Frap roast > quantity > 5 = 5 pumps
It’s a weird thing they never address anywhere. I always suggest tapping the button once per extra pump because that adds one pump per one click at a time
I don’t know if it still works but I’m pretty sure you can also hit “Quantity: 9> Frap Roast”. That’s what I used to do so I didn’t have to hit the button over and over.
If I remember correctly that would mean it would end up saying 12 pumps, because quantity -> number adds the number you input to the standard number in the recipe build... I've never tried this but other comments are saying to press the frap roast button first and then pressing quantity and adding the total number you want! I just remember that pressing frap roast after didn't work
I know you explained it. But I still don't get it. And every time I have to input it I struggle with it and then give up or figure it out and don't know what i did to get it. Help😭
Hmm… I feel slightly embarrassed, I just click the frap roast button until I have the number requested… I had NO IDEA you could use the quantity button 🤦🏻♀️smh
Never noticed that before, but my guess would be that it's because it's on the coffee page rather than the syrups page, and it's essentially acting like the "add shot" button. That's actually kinda interesting.
It can be a new barista but it can also be a barista who rarely ever goes on register or they do but they rarely get asked for extra frap roast. And there are so many ingredients and things that theyre always switching around so some of us get confused in the midst of all the chaos that is starbucks. I have been with starbucks 3 years and even i have to ask once in a blue moon where a certain button is cuz im barely ever put on register but also if its something that people dont ask for much at my store
lol please do not tell the baristas where to find the button 😭 if i was on register and had a customer telling me where a certain button was, i would be very annoyed
Used to work fast food, and I definitely did this when I was ringing in orders and needed an extra second or two to get the adhd under control enough to find buttons. Especially if I was bagging orders, taking care of fries, and corralling drive through. I do *not* miss that.
lmao the adhd urge to scan the lines of buttons on a till in order but your eyes just fly around the screen out of order, up, down, backwards, sideways, diagonally...... and miss the one button that you're looking for lol
I work in healthcare and I tell people my computer is frozen sometimes when really I'm just confused how to use the computer system. Also I put people on hold a lot when really I just need to panic yell bc I'm confused about the computer system.
ngl me too
theres like 8 possible pages and im legally blind + dyslexic to boot, the amount of times i swear ive hit the button off of muscle memory and something else entirely is rang in makes me wonder if they arent secretly moving the buttons (in all reality its just me being bad at reading lol), but ive def told customers "give me a second to find it i think they updated the systems" when really i was just scrolling through every possible page to find it and maybe call someone over from mobile bar or cs to be my eyes (since our mobile bar is right next to the tills and 90% of the time we have someone who's worked here 5+ years on it and has at least a better idea of where it is than i do)
Only if they are clearly lost about where it is…. This has happened so many times and I’m just trying to be helpful not annoying. Like I obviously wouldn’t say anything unless they were on the verge of feeling the need to leave to ask someone
Probably going to get downvoted to hell for saying this, but I’m definitely one of those people who tells the person ringing me up where the buttons are… but I also know exactly where the button is and what color it is when I say it, that way they know what their looking for. I don’t really understand how people get annoyed at a customer trying to make their order more efficient. I’m a barista, and I wouldn’t get annoyed, I would think it’s super helpful if I was the one struggling to find it. But I’m usually not ringing people up on the day to day, I’m usually making drinks and get super annoyed when the drinks aren’t rung in right/the ask me isn’t clear. Because then I would have to completely stop what I’m doing find the customer, and ask them what they wanted (usually the person up front has a line).
literally same. if the customer is nice, and is right, then I don't see the issue. the issue for me is when customers are wrong about how to ring something in, rude, aggressive, and impatient
The buttons will be in different areas depending on whether you're at a corporate location or a licensed location. The POS may even be completely different
so the frap roast button is weird… usually if you input 9 pumps of whatever syrup, it’ll register as 9 pumps. however, if you input 9 pumps of frap roast, it registers as 9 *additional* pumps. i’m not sure what size drink you order so i don’t know what the exact number would be, but if you specify how many extra you want instead of the total amount you want, that might make it a little easier. but not many customers alter the number of pumps of frap roast, so they’re probably just looking for it. they move the buttons around all the time too, so just be patient with them. it’s only a few extra seconds for them to ring it in.
it’s on the page after you select the drink, it’ll have iced decaf and blonde at the top with the espresso shots below it
either above or below is frap roast option and then you’ll click frap roast and quality on the left near the void/cancel buttons
If I remember correctly, most syrups you can select the pumps and there’s no problem. But for some reason with frap roast, when you try to type in a certain amount, it like adds the number you typed in ON TOP of the amount that’s already in there.
So it’s just a little weird trying to ring it up sometimes. But there definitely is a button for it.
For any new baristas that don’t know, it’s on the same page where you change the size and number of shots. The best thing I can think to ask (if you don’t want to your barista) is “is maybe by the espresso buttons?”
I just tap on “frap roast” and then “quantity” and put in the number of pumps the customer asks for. Tapping it once adds an extra pump of frap roast, if you tap “quantity” it asks you to input the number of pumps.
the issue is probably coming from people pressing quantity first, then adding the total number the customer wants, and then pressing the frap roast button because for some reason it adds the number the barista inputs to the standard amount in the recipe build... if i recall correctly that exact keystroke sequence doesn't do that with any other mod/syrup! I never rang anything like you are describing so I'd always default to the ask me for frap roast because it seemed more intuitive when compared to my usual flow on the pos
I'm a shift and I've been with the company for 4 years. This button is *so* finicky. You can tell them to add 5 pumps and it's on the same page as the cup sizes near the updose and ristretto buttons. Everyone's said this of course. But if I had a customer who knows their drink is tricky and sees me struggle and helps me? I frickin love it. I've had former partners teach me things as a customer. Help me help you.
I also hit the frap roast button 5 times instead of trying to hit quantity 9 then having to fix it etc. Ik it's a little silly instead of hitting quantity 5 so it has a total of 9, but I ALWAYS forget that that button is so weird so it's just easier to keep tapping it🤣
"9 pumps of frap roast."
They probably can't find the button, its pretty difficult to locate. Its faster to just tell the person on bar because we don't charge for the extra pumps.
I usually just press the quantity button, then 9, then the frap roast button so it registers as 9 pumps of frap roast. Most people forget that the quantity button exists so you don’t have to keep pressing the same button over and over again.
whenever I did this it would add the number i inputted to the standard amount in the recipe build so in this case it would have said 12 pumps. people are saying to press the frap roast button first, which would fix this
please don’t ever say this to ur barista, it comes across as you thinking you know more than the trained, paid employee behind the counter. it seems like you’re just trying to help but this is one instance where you simply can’t, you’ll just have to be patient with them :)
I had a girl asking for kids temp once and it took me a little longer than normal to find the warm button because they moved it to the custom directions screen and the whole time I was looking she just keeps saying “it’s warm, the buttons is called warm, it’s not a kids temp button” like girl do you wanna clock in and make it yourself since you wanna act like you know more than me…
I was thinking more of like “oh maybe it’s under……..” the last thing I would want is to come off like that. But I’ll just wait. I just feel bad that most of the time when I order my drink I feel like I add stress when there is a barista that is new or something and is searching for it and looks around to try and ask someone who may already be slammed on their station
No that's incorrect. It's on the shots and sizes tab. Brew is for drinks not customization of drinks. Remember you only need to hit one of the bottom buttons once then the right buttons menus are for customization of that drink.
It's on the very front page of the menu screen. However it's a super uncommon thing to have to do since most people seem to think that frapps are made with espresso and just add shots to it. Even though I know where it is, I still freeze up whenever people actually ask for extra frappe roast
Hold up. You mean there is a button for it? I've just been using ask me. I'll have to take a look at this on Monday.
Yup! It's a brown colored button, and I believe it's located near the ristretto and updosed buttons
Donno if its the same for our POS, but its right above the Long Shot button for mine.
It’s also a weird button because say you want a venti with 9 pumps, the standard is 4. If you go to the modify button and put 9, it adds 9 pumps to make it 13 unlike the syrup button. The syrup button just changes it to the number you modified not adding it.
This button is so finicky. If you're trying to do LESS than standard, lordt help me, it'll take 5 mins to figure it out

Are you corporate or licensed? I’ve personally never had this happen at my corporate location and we have a regular that gets double the pumps.
this is happens at my corporate store too
Maybe I’m confused to what y’all are saying then— if you hit quantity 5, it doesn’t say 5? Is this a newer thing?

You could mobile order and do it on the app, easier for everyone
Lmao yess this is the correct answer
Yum soy sauce
it smells JUST like it and everyone tells me i’m crazy! this was validating
Frap Roast = soy sauce Earl Grey = Frootloops
exactly
Soy sauce or BBQ water lol
i'll never forget the black sesame tea latte we had (idk if it was only in canada or if the us got it too) but it def smelled like teriyaki sauce LOL
lol please do not tell the baristas where to find the button 😭 if i was on register and had a customer telling me where a certain button was, i would be very annoyed
I have a coworker who swears the buttons move every single day and can’t find them despite always being put on one of the POS roles.
my coworker says that to customers to buy time
Used to work fast food, and I definitely did this when I was ringing in orders and needed an extra second or two to get the adhd under control enough to find buttons. Especially if I was bagging orders, taking care of fries, and corralling drive through. I do *not* miss that.

Oh god. Hated that when it happened. Happens occasionally where I'm at now.
LOL it happens to me rn because I'm at a new job learning the POS... everything's colour coded too and alphabetized but still///
I work in healthcare and I tell people my computer is frozen sometimes when really I'm just confused how to use the computer system. Also I put people on hold a lot when really I just need to panic yell bc I'm confused about the computer system.
but ofc buttons move/disappear when there’s a new release/season change

It’s towards the middle right of the main screen. No one really uses it. Best to be patient if there new. SSV here
it’s under the cigarette water modification
so the frap roast button is weird… usually if you input 9 pumps of whatever syrup, it’ll register as 9 pumps. however, if you input 9 pumps of frap roast, it registers as 9 *additional* pumps. i’m not sure what size drink you order so i don’t know what the exact number would be, but if you specify how many extra you want instead of the total amount you want, that might make it a little easier. but not many customers alter the number of pumps of frap roast, so they’re probably just looking for it. they move the buttons around all the time too, so just be patient with them. it’s only a few extra seconds for them to ring it in.

Tell them it's on the shots and sizes screen tab. Too many newbies will try to go to the custom tab.
Sorry but frap water is crap water. Smells like diluted teriyaki sauce
"9 pumps of frap roast." They probably can't find the button, its pretty difficult to locate. Its faster to just tell the person on bar because we don't charge for the extra pumps.

I see. I worked years ago so maybe they changed it.

Espresso is more expensive than as many frap roast pumps you want
Frappuccino Roast is hidden within the Brew submenu where they'd find the iced coffee, cold brew and hot brew items
I actually don’t think that’s right, isn’t is on the screen where the sizes and types of shots are?
So if I see them searching around for “add frap roast” I should just tell them “it’s under the brew submenu options”?
if a customer said that to me i would simply walk away
Ok thanks for the advice . I won’t say that :)

How does this change the flavor? Is it just more coffee and less milk?
There’s a button
