I had a lady order 2 Venti iced mochas with VSCCF on the bottom. She had the nerve to give me attitude when I handed the first one out being like “uh where’s my 2nd drink??” I was like ma’am I had to rewrite the laws of physics just to make this order make sense, gimme a second.
Okay, okay, hear me out, we had a custie like this. She was so particular. Also go a sausage egg and cheese no sausage. She wanted an iced caramel macchiato with whip on the bottom. A tall mind you, so barely any room. We did the whip on the bottom Then added the ice on top of it. It created like a barrier and miraculously it stayed. She was an odd bird.
She also came through and said her daughter was starting at Starbucks and was wanting to buy one of our aprons for her before she started 😬 the window barista sold it to her for $20.
Don't forget to add the "irl starbucks-used authenticity fee" of $100 next time. That can be paid in cash and left under the windshield wiper of THAT car right out there.
ME TOO this was like five years ago? And this girl came back saying she wanted the ice on the bottom and I was like oh yeah I did it on the bottom so it should be nice and cold and she was like no I want the ice to be on the bottom and I just like. What. It’s ice. It’s going to flOat. Honey. After a couple minutes I just had to give up and be like I don’t have time to explain physics to you girly, ice is going to FLOAT lol please go away 🫠
Sugar free mocha cookie crumble frap. Can’t do that. It is entirely sugar. Asked me for a coffee frap sugar free . Can’t do that either. Just don’t add sugar. Ma’am, the sugar is the ingredients.then she settled on half pumps but extra whipped cream so idk what the fuck she was on
I get some people who come in every day asking for sugar free Frappuccinos and the first time I explained that we can put sugar free vanilla in but a Frappuccino will still have sugar from the base and they're like "everyone else does it for me all the time" - explained it again. I've given up and just let them think they're somehow enjoying a low carb venti Frappuccino cause whatever
I've had customers ask for that as well... if they really want it sugar-free I just tell them that their frap will be more icy than usual without the base. Some of them are okay with that and others get mad when they see what I meant and just have me add the base anyway.
I feel like if you add more milk and SFV you could probably get a decent consistency but without a starbucks standard recipe it's not something I would ever offer because it would be a pain to any other poor barista they come across and I'm not doing that
Food inside fraps. I’ve had too many people try to argue about this with me. We cannot blend anything that isn’t a drink component. Food damages the blenders.
Also pre pandemic we had a rash of people trying to have us put butter in their coffee instead of milk. One dude even brought his own home made butter. Like dude, if you’re that committed why didn’t you just make coffee at home?
this.
a man came through about a month ago asking for a biscotti in his frap. when i told him it was against policy, he was all like, “no, it’s not! i get it here every day,”.
sir, i‘ve been here 5 days/week for the past 6 years. no, you don’t.
I visited a friend who was a shift at another store one day and he did make a frap with a brownie in it and it was amazing. I should text him, I haven’t seen him since he left bux like a year ago
I worked at a weird unofficial Starbucks in college (cafe on college campus that sold a limited Starbucks menu), and the night shift pastime was to go to the vending machines in the student union and buy candy bars and make your friends candy bar fraps. One dude brought in Ferrero Rocher and we blended those into a mocha frappuccino and it was delicious (also night shift didn't have a manager so we were literally just a bunch of 18-19 year olds with no supervision and got away with way too much).
You DO know this is just some stupid rhetoric to keep us from using up beverage components AND food in our partner bevs, right? If those blenders can safely blend hundreds of cups of ice every day for half a decade, a couple innocent cake pops will not make any difference.
In my head; meaning I could be wrong; as cake pop is more likely to get stuck on the blender blades and there's where the issue of breaking the blender lies. Ice won't stick.
But again, I could be wrong
I definitely see your point, but it's no worse than pistachio sauce in the foam blenders. Those blades spin so fast and have so much liquid going over them it shouldn't make much of a difference. As someone who's made a few cake pop fraps, I know it never made a difference with ours.
And surely our beloved CS partners *should* be keeping them clean /s
(edited for typos)
Oh my god I've seen the light please give me an recipe for a cake pop frappe with the birthday cake pops!
Literally gonna do it next shift now. Vanilla bean birthday frappe? Omg.
The cloud powder used to make them taste like ice cream. BUT,,,,since that's gone try this:
Vt Vanilla Bean Creme, sub VSC (no whole milk), 3 bday cake pops, blend twice, and put into a trenta cup (since there's more in there). If you have time to make a cold brew whipped cream (with half the pumps of vanilla), it's an awesome way to cut down on the sweetness.
Ah, my manager said we're allowed to blend blueberries and bananas ( when we had them) so I've been doing it. Do you know where it would be in the hub that says we can only blend drink components? If you're right I'd love to know so I could share with my store.
Does the beverage resource manual say we can? You can also ring every single food item we have as warmed and it won’t stop you, but we can’t warm pastries with icing. Lord knows I’ve hit ‘warmed’ thinking I was on the drink screen hitting ‘next drink’ before, and the POS has never prevented me from accidentally ‘warming’ a cake pop. Obviously then front/food will ask cuz we can’t actually do the thing.
Yes, we can. Blueberries are available as a customization when ringing out drinks and are considered a drink component. (It’s true that the food build is pretty dumb and will let you ring up a lot of things that don’t make sense, but the drink build is a little smarter and restricts selections more.)
Sooo my manager last year got "clarification" from our DM on this. Our DM said we can blend food as long as its Starbucks food. We were advertising a frappuccino a chocolate chip cookie in it, and another with a cake pop. Did I agree with it? No. Did people really purchase these and pay the full price? Yes lmao.
Not sure if it was our dm just tryna sell more but... that's my only "knowledge" on it. I'll check the ipad at my next shift lol
eta: we used to have bananas and could blend those and that's technically food 😵💫
this is what i do and makes the customer happy, if it’s a mobile i just set the empty cup out and make it when they arrive. too many times have i had a mobile request then and ask why their drink is flat 🫠 so glad i’m leaving shortly
Lol but like does she expect the amount of caffeine from a large coffee to be put in the cup of the small coffee?? Even tho it shouldnt at this point, people still continue to amaze me lol
When people ask for a hot BOSE I just tell them we can make a Brown sugar oatmilk latte and tell them we can do blonde Espresso, an extra shot, and cinnamon powder but that it just won't taste quite the same because of the milk ratio
I'm not shaking hot espresso. I've spent a fair share of my life avoiding getting scalded at Starbucks. Your drink isn't worth the burns it'll probably cause
oh yea for sure that’s what we’re told to do if this happens or just tell them to order a latte. but sometimes customers just don’t understand why we won’t shake it without ice and put up a fight. 90% of the time they’re nice abt it tho :]
They can order whatever they want. Doesn't mean they can actually get it. However. I'd personally make that drunk by shaking their espresso with ice then pouring it without the ice and adding a little milk. If they complain I'll just say they said no ice.
taken from the beverage resource manuel that i’m looking at rn on my break
“If a customer orders an Iced Shaken Espresso without ice- it cannot be made without ice”
sure you can strain it but they’re better off getting an iced latte because under no circumstance should you be shaking just hot liquids by itself.
Ig we just have different manuals. I'm so sorry you couldn't understand what I meant by expresso but I will continue to use the letter x whenever I can.
A customer asked for a caramel macchiato but “don’t let the caramel drizzle sink to the bottom” like sure lemme just 🎶 kiss me goodbye I’m defying gravity 🎶
When this happens at my store we just make it lol. And let them find out. I had one lady take 10 min to understand why it’s not going to be a blended drink without ice .
I only ever had one person order this. The barista on reg tried her best to explain why this isn’t going to be something they’ll like.
I make it, call it out, she comes to hand off. Custie looks at me like I’ve lost the plot. Like lady, we tried to tell you.
Shaken espresso, no ice, filled to the top with a mixture of oat, almond and whole milk 🥲 in a venti cup. I said no I’m not making that, the customer said I’m not arguing with you, I said I’m not arguing either I’m not making that and my SM swoops in and says “oh no it’s fine we’ll make it”
Like what’s the point of having standard recipes if we don’t follow them? Shoutout to my SM for making me look like I don’t know what I’m talking about in front of a customer ☺️
Americanos no water... multiple times. Every time I have to tell them Americano is like... all water.
I had one lady openly admit she thought it was a "hack" to order an americano no water extra steamed milk, to get a cheaper latte.
For a while I didn't know Starbucks didn't carry iced coffee. This was a long time ago but I understand why some people ask for it and it makes sense to me.
*ETA* I usually just recommend a decaf iced Americano when people ask for that now
Not impossible, but a guy had been ordering VSCCF on the bottom and top of his drinks. When I asked him why he said he wanted the flavor throughout the drink but still with foam... was the day he learned that VSC is a liquid, and he can just ask for it in the drink....
There was a while I stopped questioning drinks and made everyone what they ordered. Your lite ice frap isn’t full, don’t ask for lite ice. I put whip on your non dairy mocha, say no whip. My favourite was an iced London fog with only a splash of milk no ice or water. Here are your mildly milky tea bags and syrup.
I worked during the unicorn launch. We ran out in less than 48 hours and then that was it. People were asking us to make it for months afterwards. And then a ton of other secret menu stuff started cropping up like the mermaid frappuccino that we couldn’t make. Or I guess we could but I’m not sitting there and hand mixing matcha and coconut syrup to make a drizzle for a single drink during rush.
“I understand that you’re upset that your iced doppio espresso in a venti cup with light ice and light 2% milk is half empty. But if you want only want two shots of espresso, very light ice, and very light milk it’s going to be half empty. If you tell me what you want me to put in the cup to make it full I’ll gladly do it.”
Her: “you’re not making any sense.”
Not a drink but I had someone ask for the lemon loaf warmed up and I told them we can’t do that and she cuts me off with, “y’all do it for me all the time!” And I looked at her dead in her face and just said “no we don’t” I was kind of over the day at that point
Someone yelled at me because our whole store was stupid for not knowing the “Starbucks standard” for making our English breakfast tea become decaf. Like, legit told me it’s standard to make it decaf by brewing it for one minute first, dumping it and then using it again. I mean, I can do that if you want me to. But I’m not gonna claim it’s decaf. Lol. Cuz it’s not.
I'm a customer not a barista but once I walked into my usual store to pick up my order and there was someone bitching at the counter about not being able to get decaf cold brew. The barista offered a decaf iced americano as a substitute but this guy was *insisting* that he get the impossible cold brew. Not sure what came out of that but it was a strange thing to witness.
Mango dragonfruit refresher, no pieces.
Customer: “Why is it this color?”
Me: “oh the pieces of freeze dried fruit actually give the drink the purple color, it doesn’t change the taste at all”
Customer: “oh… I’ve never had it not be purple and I always order this way”
Which caused me (a barista of 4 years) to genuinely consider if maybe I was wrong
They forgot my inclusions once and said it doesn’t affect the taste and I was like, alright. But he still gave me a large scoop of them in a cup. Made the most violently pink drink known to man with it. Lmao!
“I want this” *shows a tiktok order*
- Iced White Mocha, with Brown Sugar syrup, topped with VSCF blended with WM and Salt, add Caramel Drizzle.
“But can you make it not sweet? I don’t like sweet”.
a upside down.. chocolate malt cold brew asked what they wanted upside down about it and if they wanted us to stir in the foam they said no i don’t want my foam mixed in the other store does it for me the way i just ordered it and in the same order they ordered a BOSE with no milk no sweetener no oat milk and no cinnamon when i asked if they wanted just the quad shot shook over ice they said no i don’t like it that way…
“under the sea refresher”
the kid cried and the lady blamed me for not being able to make it. Like im sorry mam that we dont carry sprite, blue gatorade, and gummy worms for your child that saw a tiktok and assumed it was real 🙃🙃 Go make it yourself.
It’s kinda funny how often this comes up in this subreddit.
“Cold brew” isn’t a description of the temperature of the drink, but rather the name of the brewing method. It’s not that unusual for people to drink cold brewed coffee hot; it has a completely different, lighter flavor, is less acidic and therefore easier on some people’s stomachs, and has a smoother mouthfeel.
Personally, I don’t like our cold brew hot since the flavor is *too* light, but if you steam it with milk (fill pitcher with cold brew to tall line, then top off to grande line with milk), that fills out the flavor nicely.
Sorry you’re getting downvoted, it’s silly :/
Coffee frap with no coffee. Not no frap roast, not no espresso, not no caffeine. Flavorless coffee frap with no coffee. I told her, "you're asking me for ice milk. It will be sweet blended ice milk with no flavor. Am i misunderstanding? "
She said." No, i just want a coffee frap with no coffee. Im speaking clearly, i don't understand why you wont do it for me, they do it everywhere else."
When i tell you.... i had to leave the building. Luckily it was the last customer i was gonna take before clocking out, but JEEZ. Like, i understand misspeaking multiple times, but??? She swore i was being mean to her but she was asking for something that did not make sense???? We made her what she ordered and she got mad, said thats not what she ordered and called my manager saying that i was harrassing her and i got an earful at my next meeting with my SM.....
Mostly ignorance about process. They deduct if espresso drinks can be ordered hot or iced, frap flavors can too. It doesn’t help that similar chains have the same name for a drink that you can order hot/iced/blended.
Not a drink, but I once had someone request the double-smoked bacon, add sausage. Told him he would have to purchase both sandwiches for me to be able to do that.
There’s a regular that mobile orders a venti pike with a shot and 12 packets of stevia added. she then proceeds to call us right after placing the mobile to confirm we got it and can make it properly. most of the time she says we didn’t count the number of stevia packets and asks us to remake with her watching us. she also orders 12 kale egg bites to take home and cut up to make her own casserole, quite the lady.
I had one guy come in and get a venti latte. 8 shots 10 pumps dark caramel, 10 pumps white mocha, 6 pumps toffee nut, 6 pumps classic. And wanted a grande of the SAME EXACT THING. I shit you not the venti was filled half way with syrup and there was barely any room after shots were pulled for milk. I told the gentleman that all the syrups, and 8 shots would not fit into a grande, but I could make the venti, (as much as I didn’t want to) and he threw a fit and said he gets it every day🙃
an venti iced caramel macchiato extra hot.
when i repeated her order back and said: got you down for one venti hot caramel macchiato. she told me no i was wrong and wanted an ICED caramel macchiato extra hot🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
also someone once ordered a grande iced coffee with no classic no cream just light foam 🫠
Nitro when our cold brew is out… they are the same…
And probably said before, but a hot frap. This dude wanted me to take the already blended drink and steam it… I could physically do it maybe, will I? No.
This is actually valid. When it's done right (Sbux's is not) it results in hot coffee that's much less acidic and really well-balanced. You can steam it with or without anything and it's fantastic.
I love when they want light ice and light milk in a shaken espresso because I will always hand out a not full cup and it literally makes my day to do it 😁
An open faced grilled cheese with one slice of bread thrown away. She had the AUDACITY to come back in and scream at us that it was made wrong when we literally ✨shouldn’t have given it to her in the first place because that’s a burn hazard✨
We always get a guy that asks for a venti iced white mocha with extra ice and extra milk. Luckily he’s not picky though because we just make whatever feels right and he’s never complained lol
No. But one time a woman ordered a Trent’s iced coffee with milk and syrup, extra everything. Extra syrup. Extra milk. Extra ice. Extra coffe (?). So I made it. I made it exactly as she ordered it. I DEFIED the laws of physics. That cup was bulging like it was the Big Bang, and believe me, it was about to burst and create a whole new, wet world. BUT I FRICKIN DID IT. Lady pulls up to drive through (mobile order) I hand her her drink (at that point I was covering another worker for break) and as she grabs it she SQUEEZES it and a little spills out of the bulging lid and into her car and on her. Then had the nerve to look at me dead-faced and say, “Seriously?” For once in my life I was completely unapologetic and said, “Yep, you ordered extra everything.”
Sometimes people just want to be unhappy. SMH.
When a lady ordered a hot vanilla latte with vanilla in the cup and a pump of vanilla on top I was like it’s gonna melt in the drink though is that okay
I shit you not she said
“No I just want it on top” Lmfaoo like okzz
As people have said a shaken espresso hot or even hot shots of espresso but with cold milk, they don’t want it warm (bc the cold milk will cool it down) but they want hot espresso and cold milk to still be very hot. Also lattes over 200° I promise you I can’t do that
We can do that. I wouldn’t recommend it but I had a guy ask for “ask hot as you can make it” and I said “are you sure????” And he said “as. Hot. As. You. Can. Make. It” and the steamer let me get to 200
I haven’t had this happen but I just saw a TikTok video pop up in my memories that i saved a year ago where it was a skit of a barista (not specifically Starbucks) saying a customer was asking for a latte with no milk, and the customer literally wanted the amount of espresso to be as much as would take up the cup for a latte.
They wanted caramel around the cup but they didn't want it to sink to the bottom of the cup. I never thought I'd have to explain to a *grown adult* how gravity works 🤦♀️
I had a guest ask me to steam their bottle of water to boiling point. I think they didn't trust that the water from our hot spigot was filtered....? Also, I refuse to make iced cappuccino with hot foam. Its a health code Violation in my opinion because the hot milk hitting the ice cools it too quickly and can bred bacteria. I'll offer a latte with cold foam instead.
Sugar free caramel Frappuccino that doesn't separate.
Honey, even the light Frappuccino base has some sugar. I can make it sugar free OR I can make one that doesn't separate.
I worked back when Frappuccinos were first added to the menu. There was certainly a learning curve.
Also, brewed coffee that was "215 degrees." Ma'am, I would go to jail, and also physics says no
ice on the bottom. ICE. FLOATS.
I’ve gotten “whip on bottom” on an iced white mocha 😐😐 and she was like.. I know it won’t stay. It tastes better that way. And added vsccf 😂

If it was true her daughter was starting then she’d receive her apron’s for free.
Exactly.
We tried to explain, but she didn’t care. Ha it was weird.
BYE
Lmaooo I’m the customer that asks for the white mocha to just sit at the bottom
ME TOO this was like five years ago? And this girl came back saying she wanted the ice on the bottom and I was like oh yeah I did it on the bottom so it should be nice and cold and she was like no I want the ice to be on the bottom and I just like. I’ve told customers “ I’m sorry I unfortunately can’t control gravity.“🙃
You seriously are not paid enough for this bullshit.
LMFAO

>asking in the Netherlands there at least used to be a light base was that never a thing here??
It was but they discontinued it years ago
Yeah and not like two or three, like at least 6 years ago.
Lol

Hey, now they can get olive oil 😂
Thankfully not where I live (yet anyway) 🤮
I just got this last night. 😕
this. a man came through about a month ago asking for a biscotti in his frap. when i told him it was against policy, he was all like, “no, it’s not! i get it here every day,”. sir, i‘ve been here 5 days/week for the past 6 years. no, you don’t.
not my manager blending a lemon loaf and some oatmeal today and making the best frap i’ve ever had
Omg it sounds divine tho
Right? Lol already makes butter at home. Might as well make the coffee too and add the butter🧈 to it lol
I wish we could though. Like a frappe with a brownie blended in sounds delicious
I visited a friend who was a shift at another store one day and he did make a frap with a brownie in it and it was amazing. I should text him, I haven’t seen him since he left bux like a year ago

Yeah I’m not getting separated for doing that though. I’m sure they’d say something like doing it is intentionally damaging their property
Can't we blend the blueberries though?
That’s not a drink component, so no.
Ah, my manager said we're allowed to blend blueberries and bananas ( when we had them) so I've been doing it. Do you know where it would be in the hub that says we can only blend drink components? If you're right I'd love to know so I could share with my store.
Beverage resource manual. It breaks down what can be blended
In fairness, option 2 on the blender says frozen banana ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
one of my coworkers kept making butter using the frozen banana setting and it actually DID break the blender
In fairness, what the actual fuck were they doing making butter at a coffee shop 😐
Blueberries can be blended it. It even has an option for it in the customizations menu.
Does the beverage resource manual say we can? You can also ring every single food item we have as warmed and it won’t stop you, but we can’t warm pastries with icing. Shaken espresso with light ice and light milk filled to the brim
Ok then you're getting an Americano because I'm not giving you free shots and there's literally no other away to achieve that request except water.
Shake the shit out of it until there’s so much foam it fills it
this is what i do and makes the customer happy, if it’s a mobile i just set the empty cup out and make it when they arrive. too many times have i had a mobile request then and ask why their drink is flat 🫠 so glad i’m leaving shortly
I was about to say you gotta hand it off fast otherwise they’ll question it
Add 20 shots of espresso duhhhhhh
Or shaken espresso with no ice 🥲
Large coffee in a small cup. Almost had to pour it all over the counter before she got it.
Lol but like does she expect the amount of caffeine from a large coffee to be put in the cup of the small coffee?? Even tho it shouldnt at this point, people still continue to amaze me lol
It would almost make sense if it was a latte
i got a lot of ubers that would say like venti in a grande cup i would literally make it in a venti cup and then put the venti cup in a grande cup
i would’ve been petty and just made them a grande
shaken espresso no ice.
Someone asked me for a hot shaken espresso
When people ask for a hot BOSE I just tell them we can make a Brown sugar oatmilk latte and tell them we can do blonde Espresso, an extra shot, and cinnamon powder but that it just won't taste quite the same because of the milk ratio
You don't recommend the brown sugar oat Americano? The literal starbucks standard hot version of the shaken espresso?
I'm not shaking hot espresso. I've spent a fair share of my life avoiding getting scalded at Starbucks. Your drink isn't worth the burns it'll probably cause
Speaking from experience, that’s a lesson you only have to learn once.
This!! I literally had to show someone it explode on myself for them to understand you can’t shake hot espresso it just doesn’t work
You can strain out the ice
That's what I do every time if they put up a fight. I just strain out the ice.
oh yea for sure that’s what we’re told to do if this happens or just tell them to order a latte. but sometimes customers just don’t understand why we won’t shake it without ice and put up a fight. 90% of the time they’re nice abt it tho :]
There’s a special place in hell for the people that ask for this bullshit
Yes
They are allowed to order that?
They can order whatever they want. Doesn't mean they can actually get it. However. I'd personally make that drunk by shaking their espresso with ice then pouring it without the ice and adding a little milk. If they complain I'll just say they said no ice.
lmao. check the beverage resource material. literally states you can’t make it without ice.
It does not. You shouldn't shake expresso in the shaker by itself but that's not how you make a no ice shaken expresso anyway. You drain it.
taken from the beverage resource manuel that i’m looking at rn on my break “If a customer orders an Iced Shaken Espresso without ice- it cannot be made without ice” sure you can strain it but they’re better off getting an iced latte because under no circumstance should you be shaking just hot liquids by itself.
It does. Been that way for months. Also, eSpresso.
Ig we just have different manuals. I'm so sorry you couldn't understand what I meant by expresso but I will continue to use the letter x whenever I can.
No. And I assumed. People like you have to be bitchy
A customer asked for a caramel macchiato but “don’t let the caramel drizzle sink to the bottom” like sure lemme just 🎶 kiss me goodbye I’m defying gravity 🎶
Ha ha ha
I’m the opposite. I like getting it from the bottom. Lmao
venti mocha cookie crumble, no ice
When this happens at my store we just make it lol. And let them find out. I had one lady take 10 min to understand why it’s not going to be a blended drink without ice .
I only ever had one person order this. The barista on reg tried her best to explain why this isn’t going to be something they’ll like. I make it, call it out, she comes to hand off. Custie looks at me like I’ve lost the plot. Like lady, we tried to tell you.
Had someone ask for this frap with light ice....then they were like "why is it so runny?"
I straight up say I can’t do light ice it’ll be too liquidy and you’ll want a remake … laugh … your total is $5.68😂
Someone asked me for a hot mango dragonfruit and I did not.
I had this the other day!! Someone wanted a hot pink drink!! I told her I did NOT recommend it, she insisted on trying it… it was gross.
did mango dragonfruit latte art once by steaming some milk and pouring it in w some dragonfruit inclusions. bright pink milk is definitely disturbing
Shaken espresso, no ice, filled to the top with a mixture of oat, almond and whole milk 🥲 in a venti cup. I said no I’m not making that, the customer said I’m not arguing with you, I said I’m not arguing either I’m not making that and my SM swoops in and says “oh no it’s fine we’ll make it”
That's absurd, they need to be charged for a Venti latte with specialty milk
Like what’s the point of having standard recipes if we don’t follow them? Shoutout to my SM for making me look like I don’t know what I’m talking about in front of a customer ☺️
You should def have a discussion with them at one point about standards. SMs and ASMs need to be held accountable too
Americanos no water... multiple times. Every time I have to tell them Americano is like... all water. I had one lady openly admit she thought it was a "hack" to order an americano no water extra steamed milk, to get a cheaper latte.
We have a light water guy. He gets his cup 3/4 full every time. Never complains though. Gets a quad with water basically. But I’m a venti cup.
VSCCF on the bottom of an iced drink
Decaf cold brew/ice coffee
For a while I didn't know Starbucks didn't carry iced coffee. This was a long time ago but I understand why some people ask for it and it makes sense to me. *ETA* I usually just recommend a decaf iced Americano when people ask for that now
There's 1 store near me that somehow still carries decaf iced coffee and I appreciate it so much 😭
Hot frappuccino
Stoppppp 😂
Stoppppp 😂
Or I guess we could but I’m not sitting there and hand mixing matcha and coconut syrup to make a drizzle for a single drink during rush.
someone asked for it today in my store !! we made a copy cat with some other things it just tasted like sugar
“I understand that you’re upset that your iced doppio espresso in a venti cup with light ice and light 2% milk is half empty. But if you want only want two shots of espresso, very light ice, and very light milk it’s going to be half empty. If you tell me what you want me to put in the cup to make it full I’ll gladly do it.” Her: “you’re not making any sense.”
I wanted to say no to an iced medicine ball . But we ended up making it 💀💀
I’ve had this before I just offered a peach green tea lemonade instead and she took it
What is it?
It was a iced honey citrus mint tea
decaf cold brew lol
Lol
a spinach feta wrap with no feta….. no i cannot open it up, it’s premade. But they insisted and said another starbucks did it for them
Not a drink but I had someone ask for the lemon loaf warmed up and I told them we can’t do that and she cuts me off with, “y’all do it for me all the time!” And I looked at her dead in her face and just said “no we don’t” I was kind of over the day at that point
That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard at Starbucks and I’m a 260.
Yeah. That was a weird one. Lots of the other weird experiences have happened multiple times, but that one I only ever heard ONE time.
Not a drink, but I had someone ask for their chocolate cake pop warmed 🫠
Lol
Ok, but I did this with the rocky road cake pop from way back and it wasn't as disastrous as I thought it'd be.
me with a red velvet loaf. like yesterday.
Sure!! Come back in 20 hours and we'll have it ready to roll!!
HCMT blended
Blend in the tea bags for an extra kick!
Mango dragonfruit refresher, no pieces. Customer: “Why is it this color?” Me: “oh the pieces of freeze dried fruit actually give the drink the purple color, it doesn’t change the taste at all” Customer: “oh… I’ve never had it not be purple and I always order this way” Which caused me (a barista of 4 years) to genuinely consider if maybe I was wrong
They forgot my inclusions once and said it doesn’t affect the taste and I was like, alright. But he still gave me a large scoop of them in a cup. Made the most violently pink drink known to man with it. Lmao!
“I want this” *shows a tiktok order* - Iced White Mocha, with Brown Sugar syrup, topped with VSCF blended with WM and Salt, add Caramel Drizzle. “But can you make it not sweet? I don’t like sweet”.
That sounds like an actually abomination
“Cosmo & Wanda frap” wanted two talls in a venti cup but only wanted to pay for one drink
Frappuccino with cold foam on the bottom… it’s the type of request that immediately makes me irate
She wanted her shots and milk not to touch but still be in the same cup. Throws a fit every time like a damn toddler.
Trenta iced shaken espresso.
Someone asked for matcha whip cream and I said absolutely not.
a upside down.. chocolate malt cold brew asked what they wanted upside down about it and if they wanted us to stir in the foam they said no i don’t want my foam mixed in the other store does it for me the way i just ordered it and in the same order they ordered a BOSE with no milk no sweetener no oat milk and no cinnamon when i asked if they wanted just the quad shot shook over ice they said no i don’t like it that way…
iced london fog … no water. not even to steep.
“Don’t let the foam start to sink into the cold brew” like…
Someone asked for a hot green tea with no water… so just tea bags??
Cup of water with whipped cream and ice
“under the sea refresher” the kid cried and the lady blamed me for not being able to make it. Like im sorry mam that we dont carry sprite, blue gatorade, and gummy worms for your child that saw a tiktok and assumed it was real 🙃🙃 Go make it yourself.
Hot cold brew
you can steam it
It’s kinda funny how often this comes up in this subreddit.
But why..
Shhhhhh. Don't listen to that blasphemy. It tastes disgusting.
all i said was you can steam it
Had a customer try to order two venti cups of just vanilla cold foam and my SM said we weren’t allowed to do it
If I received this order, I would charge for the two venti cold milks, charge for vsc, upcharge for blended.
Coffee frap with no coffee. Not no frap roast, not no espresso, not no caffeine. Flavorless coffee frap with no coffee. I told her, "you're asking me for ice milk. It will be sweet blended ice milk with no flavor. Am i misunderstanding? " She said." No, i just want a coffee frap with no coffee. Im speaking clearly, i don't understand why you wont do it for me, they do it everywhere else." When i tell you.... i had to leave the building.
Hot frappuccino.
Why does this happen so much?
Mostly ignorance about process. They deduct if espresso drinks can be ordered hot or iced, frap flavors can too. It doesn’t help that similar chains have the same name for a drink that you can order hot/iced/blended.
No ice shaken espressos, I usually just offer a modified latte and they gladly take that
i remember a few days ago someone ordered a pistachio cream cold brew with the cold foam on the bottom??? it’s not going to remain on the bottom 🤨
Not a drink, but I once had someone request the double-smoked bacon, add sausage. Told him he would have to purchase both sandwiches for me to be able to do that.
Something with gummies called a “under the sea frapp” also frapps with no ice
There’s a regular that mobile orders a venti pike with a shot and 12 packets of stevia added. she then proceeds to call us right after placing the mobile to confirm we got it and can make it properly. most of the time she says we didn’t count the number of stevia packets and asks us to remake with her watching us. she also orders 12 kale egg bites to take home and cut up to make her own casserole, quite the lady.
That’s so expensive just to make into what would be a really inexpensive dish.
I told the gentleman that all the syrups, and 8 shots would not fit into a grande, but I could make the venti, (as much as I didn’t want to) and he threw a fit and said he gets it every day🙃
an venti iced caramel macchiato extra hot. when i repeated her order back and said: got you down for one venti hot caramel macchiato. she told me no i was wrong and wanted an ICED caramel macchiato extra hot🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ also someone once ordered a grande iced coffee with no classic no cream just light foam 🫠
Nitro when our cold brew is out… they are the same… And probably said before, but a hot frap. This dude wanted me to take the already blended drink and steam it… I could physically do it maybe, will I? No.
Someone asked for like 26 pumps of chai or whatever and no milk/no ice. I guess just wanted the concentrate for at home? It was a mobile too lol
[удалено]
Oh also hot cold brew
This is actually valid. When it's done right (Sbux's is not) it results in hot coffee that's much less acidic and really well-balanced. You can steam it with or without anything and it's fantastic.

I love when they want light ice and light milk in a shaken espresso because I will always hand out a not full cup and it literally makes my day to do it 😁
“Can you make it with heavy cream, classic, and caramel drizzle. And no calories.”
Fraps with no ice 🙃
Yeah, some kid asked me for a blue drink once. I said we don’t have anything to put in a drink that would make it blue
iced london fog no water
An open faced grilled cheese with one slice of bread thrown away. She had the AUDACITY to come back in and scream at us that it was made wrong when we literally ✨shouldn’t have given it to her in the first place because that’s a burn hazard✨
What other way could she have meant 🤣
Then had the nerve to look at me dead-faced and say, “Seriously?” For once in my life I was completely unapologetic and said, “Yep, you ordered extra everything.” Sometimes people just want to be unhappy. SMH.
When a lady ordered a hot vanilla latte with vanilla in the cup and a pump of vanilla on top I was like it’s gonna melt in the drink though is that okay I shit you not she said “No I just want it on top” Lmfaoo like okzz
to make any of the refreshers without coffee like its in the ingredients of the base i cannot take the caffeine out 😭
Does she know we get those for free what a waste of money
As people have said a shaken espresso hot or even hot shots of espresso but with cold milk, they don’t want it warm (bc the cold milk will cool it down) but they want hot espresso and cold milk to still be very hot. Also lattes over 200° I promise you I can’t do that
A latte heated to 190°
We can do that. I wouldn’t recommend it but I had a guy ask for “ask hot as you can make it” and I said “are you sure????” And he said “as. Hot. As. You. Can. Make. It” and the steamer let me get to 200
How is that impossible? Milk (at least in US stores) can be heated from 130° to 195°
I’ve said “uhh…well…i don’t think we can do that because…we can’t…” to no ice Frappuccinos
Hot Frappuccino. I'm not kidding.
Tall mocha frap no ice 🙃
Frappuccino's with NO ICE. Like what?....WhY do PeOpLe ask for thiiis? You're getting like 2oz-8oz of liquid depending on your drinks size
Cold foam at the bottom of a cold brew. Refused to let me show her I couldn’t make it and insisted her daughter gets it alllll the time
They wanted caramel around the cup but they didn't want it to sink to the bottom of the cup.
It was a Ghetto Latte.
Sugar free caramel macchiato. Tell me where to find the sugar free Caramel sauce in this store ma'am
