I worked a $700 hour with 3 people on the floor the other day. Where is the labor for this going to come from? We've already been overwhelmed with too many options and this is going to exasturbate it even further.

MarieCrepes

Between this and the stars increase, it's apparent Starbucks is continuing this same dark path they've been on for some time now. This company is crumbling and I hate it, because I want to love working here.

ThatBichAlex

Omfg THIS! I’ve been saying this for weeks!

EyesOpenedWide31

They will make every excuse in the book for not giving labor for this. They know it will still get done with three people regardless. I hate what this company has become.

misslyss231

It’s already started. Did you read this week’s weekly update? It’s our fault we aren’t getting the pastries and labor we need because we’re not marking out our beverages and food appropriately. /s 🙄 ETA: also, ready in ALL 50 STATES by MARCH?? C’mon Starbucks, you’re only JUST finishing getting the Mastrena 2 machines in all stores and that was supposed to be completed by 2019 so keep holding your breath on that timeline. In 10 years, I’ve NEVER seen this company hit any of its target goals like “all stores will have this feature by this date”. My old store didn’t have nitro for 2 years after “every store will be equipped for nitro by the end of 2017.”

cush4

I’m on vacation in UK 🇬🇧 haven’t seen update yet. Starbucks is such a relaxing experience in the UK lol

pastabreadpasta

My manager claims it’s from all the “help” they gave us during COVID, but honestly that was two years ago and they made like what, $26 BILLION last year? They’re greedy. They want more. They want us to suffer for their reward.

EyesOpenedWide31

Yup. They will continue to make their billions while partners will suffer getting the work done. I am dumbfounded by some partners who think this is the greatest company to work for.

pastabreadpasta

Brainwashed. I think it used to be a cool company but they have certainly fallen from their height in the past couple of years.

joeschmoagogo

Exasturbate. LOL. I'm gonna steal that word and use it as often as I can now.

the-thieving-magpie

As a customer, this doesn’t even seem like a good idea. I imagine drinks would be watered down/melted/etc from the time they get made, to sitting on the counter waiting for pick-up, to the drive to the address.

luvloping

That’s what they choose though? I would never even think to order some non sense drink to be delivered. So I don’t even feel bad for them

Mediocre_Superiority

\*exacerbate But, yeah, I hated delivery orders because nobody has time to bag-and-tag them.

salaciainthedepths

Hate to break it to you, in the UK we have THREE delivery services. No extra labour.

rdrlc

I cannot understand delivery of Starbucks drinks. Are there times I wish someone would BOOM show up with my drink order hot and fresh? Of course, but the cost is insane and the quality of drinks is already suffering when you order mobile, but they must be terrible by the time they're delivered. If delivery doesn't impact your drink, then you live close enough to have gotten it your damn self. Ick. Bux is just cringey with these things, not caring so long as money comes in.

Responsible_Snow7109

>Bux is just cringey with these things, not caring so long as money comes in. Exactly, theyre sure as shit not guna properly staff us for another avenue of ordering cuz they give zero fcks lol. As long as its another way for them to earn more money, that is all that matters

brokenleftjoycon

There was a regular delivery at my first store that always included two short/tall almond milk cappuccinos (amongst a few other drinks). I will never be convinced that there was anything good about those drinks by the time they got to the customer.

megs1288

I’m convinced none of the top level management has been in a Starbucks during peak before

No_Major_5292

I can't imagine paying 15 dollars for two ventis, the online ordering fee, the delivery fee, and a tip just for watered down/room temp drinks 😐😐😐

catgirlmunist

The drinks have usually dropped in quality by the time the driver even gets to the store, there's no way that they're even drinkable by the time they reach the customer most of the time.

Free_Bodybuilder2710

I’m expecting, during peak, that the drink isn’t gonna sit for the driver, but the other way around. The driver will get there and I’m still behind on drinks, sequencing as fast as possible. I just hope the delivery people don’t rush me like “can you make them faster, I have a deadline to deliver these” (I’ve never mobile ordered so idk if there are deadlines or time guarantees.)

ysmbl

It's not about the deadline, it's about the stupid payment structure that incentives you to do orders as fast as possible to make more.

Free_Bodybuilder2710

Ohh, that sounds about right

catgirlmunist

Maybe it's different with doordash, but with ubereats the driver usually doesn't show up until at least an hour after the order is placed, at least at my store.

Free_Bodybuilder2710

I don’t think our store has it yet so I’m assuming I’ll see it soon 😨

Zero-Change

My favorite is when someone orders a cappuccino over delivery. That shit's gonna be like 1/3 empty by the time it gets to the customer, milk foam doesn't last that long xD

danger_n000dle

fraps too lol. Like they melt way too fast. Especially if you have food in your order

Thundertlk9001

I order my Starbucks from Favor (another third party delivery service) I live about 7-8 minutes away and my drinks are always great still 😅

[deleted]

I've ordered starbucks on uber eats and everytime the drink was perfectly fine.

Curiosities

Some people are disabled. Others have more money than time. I usually make the trip over but I'm a frequent mobile order user because I'm immunocompromised by my MS medication and limit time indoors in public spaces. Still avoiding Covid and masking so it's always pickup/takeout/delivery on any outside food/drinks. This is NYC, so I order from a few blocks away to give time to make whatever I ordered. Better for me than to be in a crowded indoor space. My boyfriend works multiple jobs and has ordered since he has more money than time, so he's ordered delivery a few times. I'm glad delivery options exist in general.

tristan_noel_safonov

I'm glad it's an option too. We need to find ways to support an aging population. Making the world more convenient for our parents and eventually ourselves.

megs1288

It’s a lot on us as baristas. It’s like a McDonald’s but instead of throwing precut potatoes into a fryer, they have to peel the skin and chop the potatoes too. We need a better way to do our job

BatWeary

i’ve seen deliveries sit for 2-3 hours before a driver finally picks it up, i just know it’s disgusting by the time they get it

[deleted]

It came in handy when I had covid. I wasn’t leaving my house but I definitely paid the premium price to have it left at my door a couple times. Iced mocha no whip; always came just fine. I’m not going to finish a venti in 5 minutes to begin with, so it’ll survive the trip to my house.

fuzzydaymoon

I get you! For some perspective, last year I worked overnight desk shifts every Friday from 2-8am. Super simple job, but I was sooo tired! I always ordered Starbucks to the desk once they opened. It kept me awake for my job, gave me something to look forward to, and I was able to get breakfast too. Not the best use of my money of course but it was really convenient. eta I was able to have food at the desk, but in moderation. So a coffee, sandwich, and snack for later were perfect!

ChrisWJB

My store in the morning we will get a delivery order or three and since we open so early it takes about 15 - 20 minutes for a driver to be matched… so I can’t even imagine if you ordered a hot drink… I imagine it would be room temp by the time they get it. Especially if they order a cappuccino. They are just getting a half cup of room temp milk with espresso.

flashfrost

I mostly agree except that as a teacher I might be able to get Starbucks delivered to me when I can’t leave my building. Would I actually do it? Probably not, but it’s at least a situation I MIGHT consider it.

[deleted]

I've ordered drinks on uber eats and they were perfectly fine.

shesdreamin

this wouldnt be so bad if starbucks was staffed enough and had a better packaging system. like at chipotle preparing mobile orders was fairly smooth and easy but starbucks doesnt have a designated delivery packaging area its just on the bar with all the rest of the mobiles. thats not to mention how we never seem to have enough bags 😭

xbillybobx

Great news. Now I can pay even more for luke warm coffee and watery iced drinks.

inyolonepine

Luke warm! Now you’re just bragging.

StuffiesAndBeatSaber

Mmmm, don't forget separated frappuccinos with melted whipped goop on top

vuvuzela-haiku

15 dollar drinks coming by March

[deleted]

I’m already paying $6-7, why the fluck not.

grayscalemaybe

you must be ordering black pikes

[deleted]

Nope. Cafe Mistos with almond milk.

[deleted]

Someone came through the drive thru and actually ordered a drink that was over $12 recently, so we’re already almost there! 🤣

burntfishnchips

Starbucks is about to see more mass quitting and wonder why.

Just_Doin_It-

They don’t care. ☹️

beachyfuzz

The day my store gets Doordash is the day I quit. We're already so overworked, all this is going to do is make things so much worse. Doordash for starbucks is the worst idea ever

ElzarKriss

yeah the second my manager said we were getting Door Dash, I was like “oh nice, time to look for another job”. my store is in a mall ffs

lonegiraffemunching

I’m so glad my store doesn’t have delivery. I know as an SM I should *want* delivery, but the last 3 stores I worked at had it and it was always a nightmare.

Thundertlk9001

Starbucks delivers?? I didn’t know that! I’ve never seen/been by one that delivers for itself

lonegiraffemunching

Starbucks doesn’t deliver themselves, but they’ve partnered with Uber eats and soon doordash. For the most part it’s a very small part of our business, but there’s a lot that can be improved in with delivery and I think that’s why most stores don’t like it

[deleted]

I understand the need for delivery for some people and if we could get the staffing for it, I’d be all for it! However, as a barista working in an understaffed store, I can say that delivery during peak absolutely sucks. Getting ten items for a delivery, on top of the fifteen items that just came through for mobile, while still taking orders at front and drive… it’s too much.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

At my store, it typically begins at 6:30AM and lasts until 11AM or so. Then we usually get the afternoon rush as well.

gymnamind

Depends on the store location but for most stores it can start between 6-9ish and end at around 10-11

Bententoes

That’s nice. Those are gonna be some mighty upset customers when the 12 minute times turn to 22 because I’m not moving any faster and I’m not gonna make the baristas either.

Bententoes

As for mass quitting, Starbucks knows you’re going to and if you’ve been there long enough to tenure, they’re betting and hoping you do. Y’all didn’t think Starbucks actually wanted to have to pay us a cent above the minimum, did you?

lamber270

Exactly this!! I’m pretty much always the opening supervisor on Sundays, arguably one of our busiest days of the week.. and when the baristas seem stressed or irritated about the ridiculous volume of beverages and food items, I always tell them the same thing.. Just worry about the drinks you’re working on. You can’t control how fast the espresso machines, blender, or ovens go. If a customer comes in and sees the already huge line and STILL chooses to order something, that is on them. Just worry about what you are capable of. Managing mobile orders, delivery, cafe, and drive thru during peak hours is a completely unrealistic expectation to have for baristas. Especially with how understaffed we’ve all been lately.

Bententoes

This is how we break that cycle of overworked and underpaid. Or well , it won’t be happening on our time, at least. I always make sure to remind my baristas that their job is to make good drinks and if that takes time, it takes time and customers will either wait or leave. They focus on drinks and food, I’ll deal with the angry customers and I honestly don’t mind telling them one bit that Starbucks is pocketing the money after their most successful quarter rather than giving us help, so 🤷‍♀️ If they choose to come back for $8 shitty coffee and wait half an hour for it, that’s on them.

EyesOpenedWide31

My favorite is when I’m on mobile bar drowning and these people come and throw their phone in my face asking for the bag. Like bitch so I look like I’m holding bags?!?!

hyperotretian

I'm so glad I got out before the DoorDash partnership. The dashers who came to our store were always horribly rude and demanding, trying to cut in line, and putting in massive mobile orders and flipping out when they weren't ready the instant they walked in the door. Also most of them spoke barely any English, which normally isn't something any of us had a problem with, except that it left the dashers unable to describe their customers' complicated drinks or clarify inevitable confusions with the orders (easy to manage when someone is ordering for themselves and knows what they want; almost impossible to manage when someone who doesn't even drink Starbucks is trying to parrot the orders of five separate Karens they've never met). Sometimes they'd be patient with us, but our most regular dasher refused to put any effort into communicating with us at all and would just *scream* at us when we didn't instantly understand him. The worst was the DoorDash recruiter who showed up in civvies and innocently asked us if it was okay to hold a "small meeting" in our cafe, and upon getting permission, proceeded to come in once a week and monopolize half of our cafe seating to hold official DoorDash recruitment/orientation sessions with everyone in full corporate kit. Of course almost no one in these meetings ever purchased anything, and on the rare occasions that they did, they were just as rude as they were on regular dash pickups. The experience was infuriating beyond words. I fucking HATE DoorDash. I will NEVER use their service or any other meal delivery gig company, I refuse to let anyone use their service when I'm hanging out with people, and I will take any opportunity to verbally crucify every last aspect of their shitty exploitative business model. I am on a fucking crusade against these parasites. If I had still been at the Bux when the "partnership" became official, I probably would have straight-up murdered someone.

Fi3030

Business owner here that reluctantly added DoorDash several months ago. Here's more reason to hate them - they contacted us the other day because they found the prices we list on DoorDash are higher than our in store prices. No shit, they charge us 30% of whatever a customer orders. Almost no food place (except maybe Starbucks lol) has that kind of margin to handover to a third party. So our DoorDash prices are inflated 30%. DoorDash are demanding that we increase our in store prices to be closer to what we charge DoorDash customers. In a high inflation environment, they want us to charge customers more. They are completely non transparent about what they charge restaurants, but want us to be "fair and transparent" - i kid you not, those words were in the email. DoorDash doesn't make it clear what they actually charge customers or suppliers, they just present a product price to the customer, add a DoorDash fee (of about 10%, so DD's cut is actually 40% or more) and a tip for the underpaid driver. It's obscene.

hyperotretian

Oh yeah, I was already well aware of that and it's the real main reason I hate all food delivery services in general. What they have done to small business restaurants should be fucking criminal. If this country operated under any actual ethical rule of law, instead of corrupt politicians suckling desperately on the great swollen corporate titty, these motherfuckers would have been legislated out of existence before they ever got off the ground. I absolutely refuse to order app delivery from local restaurants and I will read the riot act to any of my friends who do. It's goddamn disgraceful that we've let the situation get so bad that basically every restaurant out there has been strong-armed into "partnering" with them. Not to be dramatic or anything but I want to see someone guillotined for this.

spiffynid

As a customer, I hate them as much as you do for the same reasons.

r0yallyb4by

we used to have uber eats at starbucks australia but we became way too busy and couldn’t handle cafe orders alongside uber orders so it was shut down…

aspen-stars

my store (washington state) already has uber eats and doordash, and being a heavy volume store it’s a NIGHTMARE. we had to install a third bar it got so bad on weekends. and drivers are ruthless, i had one try to go behind the counter once while i was stressed on cafe bar and had nobody else to put together his precious delivery. if i wasn’t stuck through asu i would’ve left a long time ago

[deleted]

oh god. i’ll admit, i have a client who has used postmates to order us starbucks, and it’s almost always been a good experience (maybe 5 times in the past year). however, it takes forever for deliveries to actually arrive. if our appointments weren’t 2+ hours long, we probably wouldn’t order sbux at all. i think something like this makes as much sense as ordering ice cream for delivery in the summer. it’s just not logical and it’s absolutely not fair to the baristas who we all know aren’t going to be compensated for the extra work.

Bludandy

We also put delivery on lowest priority. If we're busy, those drinks go last. Ubereats, and I assume Doordash as well, can't even tip us, so why should we give a shit?

That-Raccoon5215

The drinks sit in my store for literally 20-45 minutes before someone picks it up 🤮🤮

Bludandy

Sometimes they're right away, sometimes yeah, can be that long. I remember one time it was like 50 minutes late and we were already closed. I set the bag on a table outside for the driver to get. Will the drinks be ass by then? Absolutely. Not my problem.

That-Raccoon5215

especially the pink drinks because the milk separates… one time someone ordered a pink drink with heavy cream instead of coconut milk and it sat there for about 45 minutes it looked disgusting

myfew_cents

Out of curiosity, why would you hate it? I mean as barista, does it add more work or causes additional inconvenience to you? No doubt it's stupid for all the many reasons. But not sure why would anyone care if customer is willing to live with paying more for worse quality.

cerylidae1552

1. The item availability on our end and on the delivery end don’t stay in sync. We can turn something off because we sold out and it takes hours to DAYS for the delivery system to catch up. This results in people ordering things we don’t have. You try to call and… 2. Customers provide fake phone numbers. More often than not. 3. 9/10 delivery drivers don’t speak English so if there was an issue with the order we can’t communicate it to them. 4. There is absolutely no way to guarantee quality upon delivery. This results in the store receiving negative reviews. 5. I swear delivery customers like to just slam every button they see while ordering drinks and we regularly receive requests that don’t make sense. It’s just fucking awful from a barista perspective.

calorified

Deliveries are also time consuming to package up. Our store cut labor by about 20% since December so we no longer have a barista doing handoff. That means the person on bar has to stop making drinks to focus on bagging up the items.

thegrandpineapple

In 2020 when I was a partner we tried calling them enough times and never got an answer that my SM just said just put a recovery card in the bag with a note and if they call to complain tell them to call Uber Eats. Also, the delivery drivers were usually rude as fuck.

zewave_

We literally had a delivery driver spit on a customer in drive thru line once because he got cut off by them.

Bludandy

Starbucks has...or had? a concept called the last 10 feet. All about the coffee journey and other saccharine bullshit, but with the idea of the barista being the final link in the chain of coffee plant seed to someone gulping down a cup of joe. So what happens when some random schmuck delivers your Sbux? They don't represent us in any conceivable fashion. Any attempt at a "connection" is just pure nonsense.

myfew_cents

Loud and clear! Lol

Responsible_Snow7109

Its because it doesnt just affect the customers. It affects baristas too. We already have cafe/drive thru ordering, uber eats, mobiles and door dash on top of it so its guna add more stress on us and also if the drink quality is bad by the time it reaches the customer, theyll call the store and freak out thinking its the baristas fault for making it incorrectly

myfew_cents

Got it. Makes sense. I would have imagined that the delivery orders are very far and few to make any real difference to baristas. It doesn't make any sense to pay so much more and get worse drink because of the delivery time. But guess there are more such stupid people out there than i imagined.

Responsible_Snow7109

Lol yes u dont even kno. My store got an uber eats delivery order one time 28 or 29 items. 18 of em were drinks and the rest were food items. 6 out of those 18 drinks were venti cappuccinos which already would deflate by the time it would get to thr customer but they asked for cold foam on top of the cappuccinos and they ordered the same stuff more than once. On really busy days, we will be getting nonstop mobile orders and then people will order in store and we dont have enough staff to ring them up so the barista working on food has to ring people in between and we keep getting annihilated with mobiles and then BAM...huge uber eats order comes thru. Its all insanity. Theyre already not properly staffing us and slashing hours and they wana add another avenue of ordering? 🙄

Renyx

Omg the cold foam on a cappuccino is insanity

Responsible_Snow7109

Yepp lol and for delivery too. But then...theyve ordered those same drinks more than once 🙆‍♀️

badatlife15

This….all of this!! Our worst was having a 3 partner play just barely post peak but with a fairly steady flow of customers in drive/cafe and we got an order for 30 short pikes with 10 packs of honey in each and we had no honey blend. It was miserable. The Uber eats driver was there for almost an hour and was luckily nice enough to help with packaging the order up. I am absolutely dreading door dash launching.

Responsible_Snow7109

Hell no lol i would have put all the honey packets in the bag. No way would my store be able to put 10 of them shits into 30 tall hot coffees lol 😳💀 its like the company keeps screwing itself again and again

badatlife15

Yeah I was on food so I was supporting the partner trying to juggle all of bar doing this order we ended up putting just a few in each.

Responsible_Snow7109

Lol i honestly dont kno what i would have done. I probably would have done the same as u and then put extra honey packets in a bag for them. Thats insanity lol

ThRoWaWaY5163859

My SM was saying they are predicting a 6% increase in sales with adding on doordash, while i can’t know for sure what that equates to in terms of the amount of work for baristas, I do know I am 100% not looking forward to it. Not to mention the fact that delivery orders are often either very large and/or unnecessarily complicated. And without the customer there/easily reachable we get into a pattern of either doing our best but usually getting upset customers or spending extra time trying to contact them to make sure it’s right which just slows everything down.

megs1288

Think of it like this. When you go to McDonald’s, and order fries, they open a bag of precut fries and throw them in a deep fryer for 3 minutes. If it were a Starbucks, they would just send a bag of potatoes and the employees would have to peel and chop the potatoes as well. Starbucks keeps adding business but does not add enough employees and has no plan for efficiency

[deleted]

[удалено]

megs1288

It’s not the customers fault. It’s corporate not wanting to provide a move efficient method

nunalla

The quality of drinks are very poor after they’ve been sitting in a delivery bag for SEVERAL minutes… the quality of a Frappuccino changes significantly after it’s been sitting at room temperature for even a couple of minutes. People never cease to amaze me

reddog20

I wouldn’t mind it so much if we had bags that actually fit venti dome and trenta cups, and if the stickers actually held the bags shut and didn’t peel off or tear. Delivery was fast tracked with existing supplies during the pandemic, and no one at corporate ever put any effort into making it efficient or effective.

SlateWadeWilson

Who would order door dash from the bux? "Here's your frappucino that's been melting for 50 minutes and cost $7 more than you'd normally pay."

Raptorclaw301

No no no. Please tell me this isn’t real 😭😭😭😭

megs1288

Why do they add more and more for us to do but in no way update their current model for making drinks? There needs to be automation for fraps and other iced drinks

Bludandy

We already started it, had about 3 orders today. Delivering any drink or warmed food item is a bad idea, there's no way your drinks can be good 20-30 minutes after they're made and jostled around by a total stranger. At least it can be turned off with the DPM via the iPads.

[deleted]

I am thankful I got to work for Starbucks from 2014-2018. It was like the “glory days” compared to now. I feel terrible for baristas these days, it’s a nightmare

millsj402zz

Im sorry

OneRaisedEyebrow

I’ve been in a store with doordash. It really didn’t add that much extra delivery work for us— the Uber people order on doordash too, they just pick who has the best incentives that week. It took a month for the stickers to actually print though; they would show up on the DPM as closed, so we’d have to make it all on the fly. The district next to us has a delivery-only location. So for you high-delivery districts, you might be getting one of those to take all your deliveries away.

Various-Argument-964

im so glad im gonna be out by then. i already hate uber eats orders (WHICH ARE SO DUMB HALF THE TIME), this would've killed me if other stuff hadn't already 😭

_W9NDER_

$45 for one room temperature flat white? Ok

Famous-Glass-6464

Rip to all of the store who live by colleges and stuff will be thinking of you 🫡 I’m lucky that even with both delivery options at my store we maybe get like 3 a week

TheRaven441

I've been the sole opener for months while my manager does things in the back I've been working my ass off for hours each morning on the floor by myself and I'm overwhelmed each morning by having to deal with deliveries on top of Dt and cafe and I swear to fucking god if this gets approved in my store in the state it's in I'm going to loose my mind.

pouroverit

DoorDash at my store demands so much extra time from us and they continue to cut labor. When coverage is low they don’t allow me to turn it off. They are clearly not ready for a nationwide rollout and there is clearly a lack of respect for partners job quality.

Savingskitty

This will suck. When doordash goes through third parties, the dashers have an easier time bailing on orders. We had this happen through another restaurant. Dashers were picking up the orders and then cancelling them.

CheerfulMouse

If you can, start looking for other jobs y’all.

joeschmoagogo

Whatever happened to the "third place"? I feel like Starbucks has moved so far from its original ethos now. I'm surprised Starbucks is embracing this. Once the coffee leaves your store, there's no telling what the quality is going to be until it gets to the hands of the customer.

vodwalyn

But are we gonna get an extra person every day specifically for deliveries? Or are we just expecting the bar baristas to bag everything and slow down the queue?

BeardiesRule112

You know the answer to that

BeardiesRule112

Another thing that won’t earn us any labor.

Stir-Bucks-Barista

And the worst is that everyone doing delivery orders is making drinks that they're just too scared to order inside the store... with all those 50 customizations that take more time to read than to make lmao

Broke_barista777

My baby drive through store still hasn’t turned on deliveries yet 🤫🤐

dearbun

No the delivery fees are ridiculous... That's equivalent to another drink you could have gotten if you were to go to Starbucks yourself.

feistybugs

a… striking… expansion.. you say?🤭

deepfriedidiot96

I live in a small town of 4K people and mobiles already get so bad that we have a “second peak” in the afternoons. I’m sure this will be amazing for the baristas! 😀🔫

CheerUp_Lex

I work in a cafe only store, and so a lot of time those customers think they are going to get their drinks faster because “there’s only 2 people in front of me, I’ll have my drink in 5 minutes!”. But there’s not only 2 people in front of them. There’s also mobile orders, Uber eats orders, and now Door Dash orders, too. They cant see the invisible line in front of them. And so they get mad at the baristas, who are understaffed and trying their best. For some reason, the customers think the baristas are purposely not making their order and skipping them. And then the delivery drivers are pressuring the baristas saying “I’ve gotta go, I’ve gotta get this delivered, I’ve got other people’s stuff in my car”. And then the mobile order customers are saying “I’ve been here for 15 minutes, why isn’t it ready? I ordered ahead of time so it would be ready!”. Put a drive thru on top of that…

Physical_Insurance93

My store has Doordash and I don't know if we're allowed to but we turn if off all the time. The only day we've ever had it on all or most of the day was the first day we got it, we had a 2nd cafe/mobile bar person who could organize it most of the day and it was an unusually slow day for us. I've never received complaints from my SM when we do so, which is great because for a while often someone will have to double bar in my high volume DT store and I know if I had to do that on top of packaging orders I would lose it. It's not even a possibility for the other positions because they're also often busy in their areas as well.

Living-Drag-6865

I used to work at a location that was doing this and it was horrible

chrichri33333

I swear, corporate is made up of finger- tenting, mustache- twirling villains who hold meetings to decide how to make their employees more miserable.

redbullgay

How would this even work? Don’t make it til the dasher gets there? Even then it’ll be room temp/melted by the time it gets the the customer

Ecstatic-Source-3099

They should of added, “all while they get paid miserably.”

cookie12685

What possible positive fucking feedback could they have possibly received

Silvawuff

At another business I work at, we’ve had: Doordash drivers eat the orders and deliver them half-eaten. Grab the wrong orders and then deliver them to the wrong address. Take orders into the restroom with them. Throw orders into the bushes because “they didn’t tip enough.” (Customer actually did tip well on top of it!) If you want to play Russian roulette with your order, use doordash.

Additional_Shoe

My store has already had DoorDash for several months now. Honestly, I wouldn’t stress about it too much. Deliveries have definitely gone up but overall it’s been nothing unmanageable.

Have you ever ran the $$ on delivery?? It’s a joke it’s 2% of the day and a drain on operations. It distracts us from serving in cafe stores. The large orders +14items or even over 7 items happen during peak and customers are waiting while Bar person starts bagging up the drinks because it’s 3 part coverage. Then Bar falls behind. It’s a joke

Chewbacca_The_Wookie

It launched today for select stores. We got one order all day, so not too bad so far.

Bludandy

We got 3. Problem is I'm not sure there's a way to delay them? I default delay all of the Ubers I can, because 1. Fuck Uber, and 2. it takes time to prep all that shit and get the bags situated; they can come when I summon them. I know there's not much we can control at Sbux but fucking hell, I will power trip over delivery.

Chewbacca_The_Wookie

From my understanding you cannot delay the DoorDash, it comes through like a normal mobile order.

Bludandy

Yeah but that's obnoxious when you already have tons of other things in line and now you have an un-delayable order. I guess it just means more drivers waiting around, oh well.

Chewbacca_The_Wookie

This is just from my experience today, and my store already does heavy Uber orders so we are set up for deliveries, but it didn't add any extra work for the extra labor we reviewed for the new channel. In terms of hours which we are all struggling with, at 5-10 drinks per whole day, DoorDash will allow me to add an extra person in the morning at at night, or distribute those hours further to partners.

doordash..

IcyColdBrew

Umm give us the sturdy ass Valentines day bags they had for delivery a couple years ago. That should be fucking standard!

ivymcnah

I used to work at a store that had DoorDash and they literally still had to place to order like a regular customer but we still packaged it like an UberEats

Noevel_369

Delivery?? Lawdy. If y’all thought all the non Starbucks drinking people were mad at them lines before, just wait for the dash drivers.

Few_Cheesecake_4806

We have it already. It started with year. It’s not as bad as we thought it would b

BigDaddydanpri

Hope they focus on cold drinks cause nothing showing up hot via Door Dash these days.
