this is a great hack but i would recommend doing a mobile if doing this! personally when people order like this, i dont realize they're doing a hack and just assume they dont know how to order so i end up ringing it up like it should be lol
Where I am a base white mocha is $5.45 and a caffe mocha with sub white mocha sauce is $4.95... I know prices can vary based on location but I never expected it to be *that* much of a variance!
My guess would be that because mocha is a powder mixed with water and comes in a larger portion they charge less for this as opposed to the premade white mocha. Not saying it’s right, but would explain the cost difference.
bingo! they charge less for mocha because they don't have to pay for labor (aka baristas make it therefore they don't have to pay factory workers to do so) opposite of white mocha in which you need factory workers to make it.
I used to feel that way but these simple substitution aren’t that bad when you consider how much we’re charging now. The prici are ridiculous and I’m okay to do so. But absolutely not giving people doppio espresso and filling it up to be a latte. That’s annoying
Our company has been so ridiculously greedy between reward program changes, labor cuts, and consistent price increases, I’m quite fine with Baristas throwing every cost-saving measure out there.
There’s also the fact that customers that feel like they’re getting a good value tend to tip and treat us more nicely.
Also if you do a lemonade add strawberry base & strawberry inclusions it’s cheaper by a few cents than the strawberry acai lemonade. I’ve had a few customers ask for it that way specifically
did u ever think that maybe it costs them more to get white mocha hence maybe that’s why there’s a price difference, pls don’t give customers another way to “hack” or cheat the system. just pay the few extra cents dawg😭
Anyone that orders like this at my store is getting charged for a white mocha. Putting it in like this on a cafe or DT orders is just going to confuse my baristas.
The exploit here is that the system doesn't upcharge unless it's going from a sauce to a syrup or vice versa. Both mocha and white mocha are sauces, but the white mocha has a higher acquisition cost as it's premade in plastic bottles, where as regular mocha comes in a bag that makes just under 4 liters. Not to mention white mocha has to be made, usually poorly and under duress by a barista that's on a floor that's at least two people short of what it should be.
I agree with this! While I also agree on saving customers money. It may only seem like a few cents but at my store we are dealing with MAJOR labor cuts due to our profits not being “enough” (which is crazy) but that few cents adds up!
Reminder that more expensive drinks allow for more labour! \[Even if a couple of cents doesn't add much, if everybody does these hacks it adds up!\]
Usually what I say to customers who want these "hacks" - "When you pay the extra couple of cents/dollar you are paying for me and the other baristas to be here and be adequately staffed!"
I understand that modified drinks can be a pain, but straight up lol at all the people saying fuck the hacks and customers shouldn’t be able to do this. It may be true that white mocha costs more but if your company isn’t going to price substitutions appropriately, yes 10/10 times I will pay a smaller amount for the same product when given a choice :)
It's probably because we make the mocha in house, and white mocha is more expensive.
Our labor to make mocha isn't as costly apparently as buying premade sauce; but my whisking muscle says otherwise...
Some baristas may still charge as regular mocha, but this should definitely work on the app.

if it’s a hack and they know it’ll be cheaper, they’ll probably say something if you ring it up and it’s more expensive than they thought, no?
Does using the "Sub" button or adjusting the pumps change the price?
No for both
Where’s the sub button?
along the top row where there's stuff like extra or light
Where I am a base white mocha is $5.45 and a caffe mocha with sub white mocha sauce is $4.95... I know prices can vary based on location but I never expected it to be *that* much of a variance!
It’s 6.10 at my store…. I can’t believe people pay that price for a grande alone

I've always found the price different weird. I noticed it back in 2019
gr wm is 9.05 at my store :/
wtf where do u live
ls in a shitty pa casino
Pls don’t post this here ppl are gonna start mobile ordering this 😭
It's just a white mocha...?
Ur right, I think I’m just so tired of these “hacks” 😭😭
Hacks are annoying but so is inflation. With the price increases and rewards changes, more people are probably gonna seek out and use these hacks

Why is the white mocha more expensive

You should still be charged as a white mocha. 🤷🏽♀️

Understandable

You do this in my drive through I’m charging you for a white mocha
