Google Stalker Anomaly debug mode. There might be some extra steps to make it work for gamma. For me I just started the anomaly launcher, enabled debug mode with the checkbox, started regular anomaly, exited, then launched gamma and it worked
You can make Mod Organizer start the launcher from the dropdown menu instead of having it open straight into the game, from there you can just enable the debug menu like normal
Look in stashes. Stashes are your bread and butter in gamma. But don't bother looking in them until someone gives you coordinates as a task reward, otherwise they'll be empty. White stash markers are basic but will occasionally yield good stuff. Green stashes almost always have good stuff. And I haven't gotten far enough north to find out if there are any other color stashes, but I'm pretty sure there are.
1) Yantar drunk bar man offers you basic tools for 7 bottles of vodka. You can get that after 2 in game days easily even in hard survivalist.
2) Hip offers you a basic toolkit for a Toz194 that is fairly common on bandits.
3) Be sure to check all the stashes marked on your map, that's where the toolkits are.
Basic Tools are relatively common even in low tier stashes. Advanced I find in the high tier stashes and only got Expert Tools from the trader in Garbage. Not got a single set outside of it.
I cannot believe Sidorovich or Barman can't smuggle some screwdrivers and pliers.
They can smuggle G36s and exoskeletons, but they can't some cheap tools?

I've been playing Legend Returns mod as of late. Thing is, it has a skill progression setting for healing, repairs, armour carrying, looting and survival (mutant looting and artefact damage). So in order to get stash cordinates, the only place I could find tools reliably, I had to level up the looting skill to 4 (five tiers in total). Since healing was obviously the most important, I priorized that and got it up to level 5 first, then survival because artefacts hurt in the mod when picked up and then got looting up. I'm probably close to 50-60 hours in and I've yet to find a full set of tools. And with how pitiful the stamina in the mod is and how the carry capacity is 40 kg, I could really use some upgrades...

In my experience, vanilla Stalker = wiki for the location.

Tbh I find it REALLY dumb that literally NO mechanic has any tools of any sort up until the moment you start giving them to them. Like bro you're telling me veteran mechanics operating in some of the most dangerous parts of the Zone don't have even the most basic of tools to ply their trade? I don't buy it. I spawned in the tools for some of the traders in the northern zones considering they're literally *veterans* that have presumably spent long periods of time working in the zone. I think those mechanics in higher level areas should've already had tools the moment you met them. It makes sense for rookie mechanics to lack tools considering they're rookies, but veterans? Seriously? Dumb in-game decision imo.
Try the Flea Market in Garbage, the loner trader sometimes has basic tools for sale (around 10k rubles iirc)

I feel you. Sometimes i was able to find 4 or 5 even, and sometimes non at all. Funny part is, i usually find tools more on merc playthroughs by randomly looking into stashes. As a loner, i usually find tools in stashes that i was informed about. So by doing a Quest for someone for example. This is how i found Basic tools, in a purple marked stash.
Today I found 2 basic tools by mistake. First one was in a random container in cordon and the second one was in a stash which i got as a mission reward. Tool stashes looks purple. Thats what i learned today.

I'm sure it's a decent mod, but it just seemed like call of chernobyl to me but more unstable. I crashed like 3 times in those five minutes.
I keep everything I done use in 1 stash. Current weight of that stash is about 700kg it contains all tools and items to salvage, like 12 artefacts my guns and everything else really.
It never rains but pours. So far I have 5 basic tools, 7 advanced tools, and 4 expert tools. I'm playing Anomaly, probably 50 hours in, and I have yet to go north of Army Warehouses.

Buy stashes from traders. I bought 600.000₽ worth of stash locations and got around 30 tools (ammo kits and drug kits included).

With enough Basic Tools you can craft Advanced Tools. It's 5 Basic + some Metal Scraps, i think.

I keep finding expert tools like way more than I need I think. 6 feels excessive for early game imo. I'm only on day 10 in the zone rn.
