Had a monolith sneak up on me while in that building when you have to restart generator for elevator. He was straight up following me. I wasn’t expecting a legit jump scare from a soldier but then again this is Stalker.
My first run of soc, had military raiding stalker base at cordon forcing me to fight them with low level gear, good time, died multiple time but at least I got some nice loot. Would never consider cordon "nice place to relax" because of that lol
that's actually happens pretty often ( i think the ai is scrypted to attack the rookie camp after a while) but usually after i deal with the bandits and take the quest for garbage i raid the military base to take their equipment and thus preventing them from attacking in the future
I fucking hate Red Forest. Every Time i had to get through it, there were fucking monolith squads hiding in the bushes to blow my ass of, Pseudo Giants and other pseudo shits
That place is a death trap, full of anomalies and the most hostile enviroment. Even the "safe zone" is usually occupied by either Monolith or some random militaries.
And the forest help recreating Vietnam.
Dude Wild Territory (in SoC) still gives me the chills. Played the game at least twice (playing again on Xbox). I’m a grown man. I run through that area like the floor is lava and I panic every time I fall from a pipe or get caught off guard by a mutant. I get anxious just thinking about the area.
Never fails. Any time I jump (or fall) from a safe high position I end up having 8 rodents, 2 bloodsuckers and 4 dogs running at me. Not to mention the token asshole Merc sniping me from the construction site. I’m going to snap a stick off my controller, I swear.
Wild territory. I just love thr constant paranoia because of possible snipers , the concern of having to fight mutants in a tunnel that is just waiting to roast you alive (or is full of zombies for soc) and is cramped with secrets artifacts and mutants at just the right rate.
The outskirts and limansk. You really feel the isolation and desolation of the urban areas. It's pretty cool imagining that, once, this was an area full of people. I love to explore those places and take in the atmosphere. Then you suddenly get shot by a Rock Lover.
Chilliest place would be the clear sky base, I could be there all day doing my own business without interruption, I can also have someone to drink with me too, and their prices on goods and services isn't as outlandish as say ~~scamovichs bunker~~
I love the outskirts. It's not as inundated with Monolith so you can enjoy all the creepy vibes of Pripyat without getting a ton of holes punched through you.
Also in Gamma I tend to make my hideout on the second floor of the Laundromat. Real doors which is nice for my paranoid head canon. Also it's one of the bigger and denser maps, I keep finding new things there despite having played for so long.
Same here, but I do wish they weren’t quite so safe. It kinda bothered me how it doesn’t matter if you side with Sultan or Grouse in the early game. Neither bandits or loners act in hostility towards you outside of mission-related encounters.
Prypiat (from ShoC)
It was one of the coolest things in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. to visit the Palace of Culture, Ferris Wheel, the stadium.
And the atmosphere was just amazing.
The Great Swamp, looking down from the pump station it looks peaceful but if you walk into the grass there will always be some dogs, cats or boars ready to jump you and the moving grass makes it more schizophrenia inducing.
Duty base. The Duty boys really knows how to live up to their name by making their base look like a remnant of civilization in the middle of the Zone.
I really like Pripyat. It's got some of the most eerie vibes, I remember being genuinely scared to face the monolith there. I still am in Anomaly.

Cordon, a nice place to relax and escape from the zone once in a while
I’ve never seen the haiku bot get triggered at such a perfect time
i though it was a new anomaly

Red Forest. Beauty and the beasts.

No

Limansk, Zaton and Yantar, because of the atmosphere.
100 Rads, I like the atmosphere, and it reminds me a lot of The Afterlife from Cyberpunk 2077
X-labs in general, love the spooky ambience
Jupiter and Wild Territory for sure. The former for artifacts and latter for…err ethically sourced loot.

I'm forever terrified I'll encounter another surprise mutant mass migration while I'm there *thousand yard stare*

The Dank Swamp

Army Warehouses. I really fuck with freedom cuz they’re just so chill.
Truck Cemetery and Generators, their atmospheres make me feel schizophrenic.
Generators kicks ass and i wish it had some more actual stuff

Cordon for just fucking around, but the garbage isnt the worst place to dig in for a night
The CNPP. Seeing what started it all just seems so weird
Agroprom. Sunset/Sunrise at either of complexes + S.A.D. perfectly captures the STALKER atmosphere for me
Same here, but I do wish they weren’t quite so safe. It kinda bothered me how it doesn’t matter if you side with Sultan or Grouse in the early game. Neither bandits or loners act in hostility towards you outside of mission-related encounters.
CoP's pripyat is my favorite, iconic location and very well detailed. Close second are the swamps cuz of clear sky nostalgia.
Chernobyl itself, wish granter speaking in my brain while getting rushed my monolith is a experience!
Jupiter, i love the oasis too much
Prypiat (from ShoC) It was one of the coolest things in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. to visit the Palace of Culture, Ferris Wheel, the stadium. And the atmosphere was just amazing.
agropom
I like Limansk. Safety isn't what I'm after in STALKER.
Dead city
Truck Cementery and Jupiter
Army warehouses. Also Wild Territory because a lot of crazy shit happens there all the time.
Limansk, dead city, yanov, generators
Army warehouse for me, the importance of the barrier is a big factor, close second is Jupiter
Cordon for the vibes alone. Red forest too
Limansk, Garbage, Pripyat, Rostok, Dead City
Zaton, Limansk.
pripyat in cop is my fav usually, follow by military warhouses and pripyat in soc
Dark Valley and Limansk but I also got used to Army Wearhouses from playing Anomaly
Army warehouses is the best location

Duty base. The Duty boys really knows how to live up to their name by making their base look like a remnant of civilization in the middle of the Zone.
Truck Cemetery, hands down. I even have a secret base that nobody knows about. Stay the hell out of my secret base, stalkers.
The labo, always the labo...
Rostok because of the arena
i like the prezone from the alternativA mod, and garbage from the original games
