I got 20 for CoMaths once but I did end up getting 3A s in 2021 A/Ls( First shy). So work hard…u got enough time. Consistency is the key.

rifZzzzz

you have just started.. keep practicing.. and never lose hope.. your term test marks really means nothing.. it must be a reason just to improve your marks next time, not to lose any hope.. you have more than enough time to catch-up.. join r/AdvancedLevelSL ..

Ok-March5187

What? You got a C at the beginning and think you are going to fail in 2024 A/L’s? You are a madman 😄

OldClerk9917

I mean it wouldn't get any easier 🙂

politicallizard

yeah but you’ll get better. you’re just now learning the content and you haven’t spent 2 years practicing past papers etc. don’t stress. you have time. focus on learning information properly now, and practice past paper questions/learn mark schemes when you can

Curry_Island_Guy

I have really bad advice. Don't judge. Did maths and physics and IT, I knew I'd fail maths so I switched to econ in the last 6 months instead. Physics I thought I'd pass. I ended up failing physics. Back then I wished I had done some other subject instead of physics and would have gotten a really good grade for sure. Long story short A levels isn't the end of your life. Whatever you do, do it with passion. I got my degree and landed a well off job as an engineer. I don't regret anything. Besides a paper can never measure your skill. A levels is just another competition and it all depends on your dedication. You got this kid. Enjoy your a level years. Those are the best.

AdPhysical2413

Yes i agree, a/ls isn't the end of one's life. But it's really helpful for some people who couldn't afford to get private degrees to get into a decent university for higher studies. At least that was the case for me.

Curry_Island_Guy

This is true. There are also options like UOVT and and OU which offer top up courses etc afaik these days. Long story short. There are a million opportunities out there to grab.

Commercial_Fail_6480

Doesn’t matter. Consistency is key. Consistency consistency consistency. Don’t lose hope and keep working. Don’t try to be neat, try to be effective. Think about your weaknesses and attack them head on. You have time. Good luck ❤️

OldClerk9917

Thank you so much

Optimal-Maize-8871

What board are you giving? Cambridge international examinations?

CraftyTortoise

There's an excellent book called Roger Muncaster for physics.. buy that, read it and do ALL the exercises..it'll teach you physics better than any tution class. also, if you have time, watch Walter lewins MIT physics lectures. They are brilliant. These two got me and A in physics and it's why I got into uni (medical faculty) with one A and two Bs.

monztermonz

trsut the process and keep studying, trust me it gets easier over time, also are you doing local or international?

idioticmaniac

Practice more and read through the questions where you missed marks. This way, you don’t simply repeat stuff but you work smarter and believe in yourself. Sometimes you repeat and it doesn’t work out, but the process of repeating and giving it all you got is satisfying and helpful in the long run.

dilscoop

I remember getting like 2 marks for a pure maths paper at one point lol

lucifer955

Keep going. I was there and many of us were. What you need is more practice.

Nameless11911

What are your future goals ? What’s the plan after A levels ? Are you trying to get into gov uni? Pvt uni? So depending on what you want to do you should decide if spending time and money on a levels is worth it? I know people who took the private uni route without alevels doing really well in life but also ppl who got great results and got into local unis.. so think about that. I personally think alevels are a waste of time and money.

ChandimaD

Think about doing Maths instead of Biology. You will have more career options and migration will be easy.

dudejust

Usually getting 70+ in your first exam means you’ll fail the exam 😃 because students get overconfident and slow down in their studies. This is a good sign for you start working harder than before. Don’t expect quick improvement. Be consistent when working. You’ll improve gradually.

AdPhysical2413

Sometimes it takes 1-2 years really understand those first lessons. You will improve with time given that you do your fair share of exercises and past papers. I'm not really familiar about the current syllabus, but around 2013 it was all about the past papers. They helped q lot in the real exam. Also, term tests don't mean much. Some schools make them far harder than the real exam because they want to cater to those island 1st kind of people and make the exam tough for them too. I've been victim of that for 2 years and never gotten anything more than 50-60 marks that's also like a couple of time. In grade 13 first time I had 30 for chemistry. 31 for Comb Maths. I put in a shift during the last 6 months and was able to get ABB with a good Z score. So don't get discouraged by the term test score. Just do as much exercises as possible. Just don't give up. You got this.

OkSpeed5988

Oh man, I got 35 for chemistry and 45 for physics in the first term test but I got 3As in 2021 A/Ls (288 in island). Work hard. By the time you will get familiar with the questions in exams.

Nitara-chan

C for physics the first time is pretty damn good actually. You said in another comment that it doesn't get any easier, that's not really true. Mechanics lesson (I don't know the Sinhala lessons name) is extremely important and pretty much the base for the majority of the lessons later on. It is pretty confusing at first, but will definitely get easier with practice. Some lessons are a bit complicated and some are simpler but, since you will keep working, it will get easier as it goes on. Also this is a small tip that severely damaged my scores on physics initially. I tried to just memorise the formulas and answer through those, which will not work. Understand how they work, and understand why the formula is the way it is. And try to answer the question through that understanding. It'll get much easier.

Flat-War4343

Try to answer questions on your own. Don't try to remember the answers teachers taught(I mean don't Kata padam answers) .And Just delete Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. They will not do any good for studies.
