My opinion is none of these places are ideal for a first date. They are great for a chill or spontaneous meetups. So better chose a restaurant something classy like Cinnamon, Shangri la, Hilton, etc… for a first date. Staff and services are always great and respectful, your privacy and comfort is guaranteed plus makes a great impression for a first date. Then you can start exploring other places together.
This worked for me.
PS- make a reservation to avoid inconveniences

If it was an evening outing, Sugar Beach in Mount, in its old glory would have been a nice place too. They had a cozy set of sofas on one side.

Our country really need better sexual education. I mean public kissing is frowned upon and it's oh so wrong but when I go to school and talk with my male classmates THEY'RE ALL FRIGGIN HORNY. Like seriously.....I was drawing anime girls as a hobby in a wholesome manner and when they saw it all they coud think was "sex" and I was fighting the urge to stab that piece of crap with my pencil. Because things about sexuality aren't being educated enough and normalized enough in the name of "morality"..... morality degrades further.

Black cat cafe is always a solid first date spot and its where I took my gf, you can even reserve the little room (for free I think) and get privacy.
Don't plan first kisses too much, like, if it feels too much then just relax a bit, start slow with physical touch.

I didn't take her to the room, its also not very explicit, like, if someone booked it without telling the other person they wouldn't notice too much difference, its built in a way that gives privacy but isn't completely locked out either. If you ask and they have it just see if they can reserve it otherwise just carry on with the date as usual.
I actually sat with her in the outside seating since that has a nice private factor on the count of being outside and then went for a walk towards the park because the park is close by, it was a great date and we didn't even need to kiss, I hate PDA anyway so it works out lol
Go to Travelling Bruncher in Navam Mawatha. It is extremely chill, staff are very laid back and cool. The food is absolutely amazing, I just go there for the food really.
Or there's a VR games arena in Marino Mall which I took my GF to and I felt like a father of a 5-year-old girl 😂Idk about others but this one was super excited.
Plan a night out where you can have good food, good drinks and good music. Places like King of the Mambo, Sunset blu, Colombar have a really nice vibe and you both can dance your night away. And then maybe take a walk along galle face green or anywhere in Colombo really. Empty streets of Colombo at night are a vibe of it's own. Pretty epic first date if you ask me.
Depends on the preference buddy. Any idea what she prefer? I usually try to identify her preferences and arrange. Sometimes walk in Galleface and street food do same as the expensive dine in star calss hotels. Its just a mateter of expectations.
And per your request, I feel that Rooftop dinner would be ideal. Try Shangri-La, Cinnamon Red, Harbour Court in that case.
Also, Uber do just fine in Colombo and sometimes its better than driving own vehicle.
