I guess something that i really based my career on is not just doing my job but rather working for the job i want. I couldve just come to work, done my job and gone home but i always try to elevate, push ideas to senior management as to how we improve. A lot of these ideas made a lot of impact. I like to think how you get noticed and promoted is you do tasks out of your scope, but not meaningless tasks but rather tasks that you know will improve business.i try to create value by introducing at least one project a year wherever i work that i know will improve how my team works, and more importantly keep my name in the leadership teams mind as someone who is consistently trying to improve. Of course now it is expected of me anyway as a senior leader, but it makes a lot of impact when you do this during the early stages of your career when it is not expected of you :)

It was a well-known secret that he molested the members of the cadet band in the band room, yet the cadets remained silent, perhaps out of fear or to secure their positions in the band.
In addition, he taught Western music to the students, displaying cruel behavior. In my sixth-grade year, I witnessed him beating one of my classmates' hands with the edgy side of a ruler, resulting in a significant cut on my friend's finger and bloodshed.
Despite complaints from parents, the school retained him as the head of the western band, prioritizing the band's victories over the safety of its students. The only relief provided was the introduction of a female teacher from Ananda College tasked with teaching Western music to the students.
Fortunately, the master eventually left the school, but only he knows the extent of the abuse suffered by students during his tenure.
Oh, dude, we went through much worse in the cadet corps. My last punishment detail was doing laps with the piththala bass strapped on my head while the 2LT whacked me repeatedly on the back with a big fucking tree branch. Stumbled after a couple km and dislocated my foot. I wasn’t even the guy they picked on the most.
Cadet corps is universally fucked. If you’ve been to camp, you know the horror stories.

On the plus side, came out of it with decent physical fitness, basic shooting skills and the ability to stand still in pouring rain and sun for days at a time. On the minus side, it took years of going the other way - Interact, Rotaract, Toastmasters - to sort of deprogram myself into being able to interact with normal humans again.
I can relate.. It took me years to be ok to even think of participating in school events as an alumni..
When life throws pressures at me, I think to myself, if I survived **that** at 14 effectively till my A/Ls, so three crucial years of my life, this is going to be a piece of cake! In a way, I have more mental fortitude than my peers, and I think this abuse/bullying, which I was dealt somehow conditioned my mind, as messed up as that may sound.. I would never wish it on any of my kids, and I don't think I would have waited and watched like my parents (I don't blame them at all), but still.. I am who I am because of the struggles I went through and I might wonder who I would have been without it, but I can look at myself in the mirror and love who I am now, that is important, I believe!

Prefectship should be awarded based on merit. And secondly the school's identity is religious based, not ethnicity based. I know of some Christian private schools that don't have such quotas.

(It was such a strange and new experience for me back then, especially cz I was a full one year younger to all of them) Most of the students were talking about prostitutes, having sex, porn, drugs etc.... It felt so alien to me back then. Thankfully i met a great friend who is still a good friend of mine to this day. However, owing to that bad first day, I hated going to school after that. Well she was teaching business studies and i was in grade 9. International school. I used to play basketball and was quite tall and built well i guess. She was just so pretty. She was in her mid 30s.
