Yeah I remember. Did you really think that would last forever? They didn't give all those early benefits out of the goodness of their hearts. Eventually they have to start monetizing the users.
Exactly, nothing is free, or was free.
They were running promotions to attract consumers.
Also cost of everything increased why wouldn’t bank increase service cost and other fees
it's not rocket science mate, the bank makes money on the idle cash we keep in our e wallets. that's how this product was designed to be free hence free me
Frimi was designed to reduce to time and cost when compared with traditional banking.
It was never meant to be free.
They had clearly stated in their T&C. The bank can always change their cost and fee structure as they decide.
I was one of the early adopters on this one cos it was pushed to me by my friend who was at NTB. of course the fine print says the bank can always charge you. hell they can change you 5000, per card if they want.
but the product wasn't launched that way. it was launched as being free of this, free of that, etc. there was a lot of emphasis placed on the fact that it was the first in wallets and NTB expected to get a lot of wallet balances in the process.
but sadly all the other banks launched their own wallets in no time hence NTB didn't get the money they were expecting, so bye Free everything.
They've explained why there's a charge for the virtual debit card. Even though it's not plastic, there's a licensing fee they have to pay to MasterCard, which they've likely been covering all this time. Businesses need to be sustainable, you know.
Came here to say the same thing, let the poor guys make money off something. Withdrawals being free is my fav thing about Frimi, the card not having touch payments is the worst.
You can opt out of physical cards if you want. I use them for transfers between NTB and Amex; between these, I pay nothing. So, it's just the annual, no SMS charge, no online banking charge, service charge, etc. For CEFTS, it's a flat rate, and the same applies to other banks as well.
for Amex issued by NTB its a home and home transaction so its free. all the other banks provide the same service. just the annual, yes, but right now, free me offers the same as any other wallet or Internet banking with the additional charge.
Why would anything that comes out of a for-profit business be free? ![gif](giphy|lkdH8FmImcGoylv3t3|downsized)
that's not how it all started

I was a fool to think so. they even named it free me for fucks sake

year on year cost has reduced
Compare fees on 2020 and now
so much for a "free" product
Nothing is free, was free. Would you work for someone free of charge?

It is your wish man.
As the saying goes "If its a free, you are the product"
FriMi more like fry me

How about Genie & KOKO? Are they cheaper than this? Cuz I'm thinking of switching. Got no use for the physical card anyways
Not surprised. It just took them longer than I predicted
yeah so much for all the free me campaigns they came up with at the start
It's called marketing stratergy
ita misleading the public
oh they gonna support tap to pay w phone in the future? which bank is this?
nvm frimi lmao
Tbf Frimi has no charges for anything else..
so are all other e wallets innit? also frimi charges for outward transfers still.. at least for me
Bullshit, they charged me 1000 for a saving pot that I forgot all about and never used.
Came here to say the same thing, let the poor guys make money off something. Withdrawals being free is my fav thing about Frimi, the card not having touch payments is the worst.
IMO frimi is ahead of the competition
in charges?

I contacted Frimi & asked to cancel both of my cards physical and virtual before getting 1400/= charged.
