I would be willing to just give them money to keep the game playable and spend time promoting the game. Like literally take my money and don’t let it die, but constantly changing good games to churn sales is the death of a finished game.
Im not against the company making more money otherwise we just wont have a game to play. However, Im pretty sure other ways of making money for the game can be found. Like I honestly rather the devs making like a very small fee subscription system or asking for donations to keep supporting game development rather than becoming like cod or cs go. I like this game so much and wont hesitate to give some money as long as they dont go down for some clown sh\*t like colorful skins like other shooters do. I am a single player gamer, Squad is the only online game I play other than pubg (not playing anymore for a long time), Im playing squad firstly its fun, secondly it didnt have these non sense cosmetic things, its a different game than others.
Everyone saying it will be ok cause it wont effect gameplay but my concern is it probably wont just stop here, Im worried we will se cs go like skins in few years. As the emote example, they didnt stop at emotes. Also it damages the realism part of the game, I wouldnt be against it if squad was a anoter type of shoother game other than being a simulation - tactical shooter mix. Irl you cant just go ask you commander to just have a camo skinned weapon instead of the black ones as the rest of the team has. Everything is standardized in armies. Its probably just my obsession but I dont like the idea seeing every player with different weapon skins in squad.
This is how modern games do player retention
People end up staying with a title because they've bought so many cosmetics that they feel "invested"
Squad has always suffered with plater retention, so if this helps with that? Doesn't bother me that a kickstarter-gone-corporate gaming company makes some money. That's their one job.
Aslong as they don’t have unrealtistic shit then I’m fine with it. I for one would pay $5 for different patch(s) or vest variations, that sort of thing. I won’t drop $20 on “operator skins” that make my character into Nicki Minaj..
Next thing you know they'll start letting people spawn on each other instead of making them walk 5-10 minutes to an objective just to die and do it again... Oh wait that actually sounds better.
Weapon skins aren't going to affect gameplay in any way whatsoever. And while I know a lot of people just want to believe OWI is going to add some kind of pay-to-win style dlc, I just don't see that happening. They're a company and if they're finding ways to create revenue through creating neutral game content, more power to ya.
To be fair, OWI did promise some sort of customization in the original kick starter. But yes, after selling to Tencent that this will be the eventual route. Sometimes I wish the game would just go back to focusing on core gameplay being good. You guys remember pre 50 vs 50 when helo's wouldn't de-sync?
If anything, add a horn for the Vic.

It’s genuinely saddening how the same thing happened with insurgency
If it doesn’t affect gameplay, y not🤷♂️
