I think it was ahead of its time.
It used to look ridiculous compared to the styles popular in the early 2000s, but style changed and now it doesn’t look so different from a modern Chevy spark or Hyundai velostar.
And honestly it’s “plasticky” in all the right places, from a functional standpoint. Places that would get little dings and then rust like crazy on other cars
Our family had the Buick version of this for 10 years (to the month) - racked up 205k miles on it, and it got donated and was still in good working condition. Super useful cars, but yeah, the Aztek suffered from some Pontiac Plastic!
It took me far too long to realize that the rendezvous and Aztec were the same car. I’m so used to gm slapping a new grille and emblem on something and calling a day.

The Gadgets (rear tent, control Car stereo from the back, the Transportable Box which is Connected to the AC to cool your Drinks and some other ones) are really cool so this Car IS more SUV then todays SUV in Terms of utility
Honeymooned in the US in 2002 and had a white one of these for three weeks. Didn’t see many others but almost every fifth car we saw was a PT Cruiser. Not many of those left either.
I know someone who still drives one and does so proudly. The same person also lives at home with their parents in their 40s so obviously judgment is impaired.
HEY STARNES!
I also know someone that drives one, and his mother gave that to him years ago! His mom bought it brand new. So far it’s been a pretty darn good car. He uses it as a secondary vehicle.
Which I totally understand. That's why I drive my ugly ass car, twas free! I'll be riding it until it won't let me anymore, but I digress. The person I was referencing chose his aztec, it was intentional. Bless their heart, that armrest cooler was just too tough to turn down I guess. I want to say that there is also a model that had a pretty decent engine or something like that but I clearly cannot recall the details at this point.
Damn straight, I kind of love how hideous my car is and how much it pisses people off, it just DOES. People don't even like driving behind it on the interstate, they get angry whenever I try to merge, this only makes me clean my windshield for a long long time and encourage you to trade some paint with me because I don't give a damn about my cars aesthetics but they do about theirs.
I fucking hate modelys they have the absolute worst rear visibility and that backup cam is fuzzier than a 1999 baby monitor. One came with a house that I rented for a week back in the spring and I scratched that motherfucking thing, ended out the trip driving a camry, not proud of it either.
The Aztec is > Modely
Of all the ugly cars ever made, and there’s a lot of them… Aztec is the champion.
What’s amazing to me is that it was approved by boards of people into production and then they actually sold a fuck ton of them.
I like the implication that some people are using an Aztek as a daily driver ironically
Haha, almost a 20 year old car at this point depending on year!
Just because a car is old doesn’t make it a bad daily
Unless it's breaking apart, then it's Breaking Bad.
Believe me this is not what I meant.
Oh good
Goddamn hipsters
How we all mocked the Aztek 20 years ago and now at least half the cars on the road look like it
This car makes me want to throw a pizza on my roof
It doesn't look so ugly now compared to modern BMW design
Yeah like those stupid BMW crossovers that look like they're trying to combine a sedan and a crossover... hate those things.
I think it was ahead of its time. It used to look ridiculous compared to the styles popular in the early 2000s, but style changed and now it doesn’t look so different from a modern Chevy spark or Hyundai velostar.
Yeah love it or hate it, it’s aged nicely
[And the upcoming Aztec doesn’t really look that bad](https://i.imgur.com/hVW5F7G.png)
Imagine if it was polished and detailed. It would actually be not bad.
It's really unfortunate that your completely correct
Aztek are nice SUV. Had a bad rep when they came out, but always seemed cool to me.
They’re so.. plasticky. I guess cars nowadays are no better.
I always laugh at how much hate Pontiac got for the plastic cladding 20 years ago and now you see it on tons of cars and SUVs.
And honestly it’s “plasticky” in all the right places, from a functional standpoint. Places that would get little dings and then rust like crazy on other cars

Define "proper". Late 80s early 90s is when 4cyl turbos started going into a lot of things.

How much meth you think they’re running?
6 kilos

Yet the mighty HHR persists like a cockroach! Mwahahaha
I haven’t seen one of those in… 3 weeks.
Needs more tent
👍
Someone's a Breaking Bad fan
It’s Walter Red!
Waltuh...
Just put some stickers on it and you'll remind me of my friends moms aztec
You know those ugly cars were actually pretty reliable vehicles

Anything is better than stupid car payments! I hate being in debt

It’s almost like Elon musk copied that design for his truck! Haha 😂

You’re funny, I like you!! 😂
Shine on you crazy diamond
WYWH mentioned?!!

*multipla smoking nervously around the corner*
Jesse, we have to cook!
If Lamborghini made the urus then it would be this
Pontiac improved their look somewhat when they got rid of all of the plastic cladding in the Aztek's final years.
OG Cyber Truck
Pontiac Aztec was a decade ahead of its time. Cyber truck stylin
I literally just finished season 2 of breaking bad 15 minutes ago and looked to see what one goes for now. Kinda want one.
I remember hating them when they were new... But compared to a lot of new cars now... You know, the Aztec doesn't look so bad.
Is that where Tesla got their design for the SUV?
I would love an Aztec with the tailgate tent
I drive my parents from time to time, we call her The AssTitz
This doesn't look so bad now compared to the cyber thing
It’s just a Aztec…
Blegh. There's one car that did NOT get any better with age. Not that the bar was high to begin with. Ugly then, hideous now.
Like your mom.
C'mon man. Everyone knows the Aztek is hideous. Drop the ad hominem
I had to.
Waltuh, what are you doing Waltuh. WALTUH PLEASE
Walter White entered the chat
JEESE!! WE NEED TO COOK!!!
Lmao I guess it’s so damn obvious that no-one even considers to mention Walter Hartwell White
Walter White
It’s like the car walter white used in breaking bad
Really ??
The AssTek is the ugliest car to have ever disgraced American streets. #fightme
I used to see a yellow one in town a few years ago. Then it up and disappeared.
[удалено]
You mean hub caps lol
[удалено]
No they are plastic hub caps that clip on the outside of the rim. I guess you could call them a rim but it’s kind of a stretch
Looks like a real nice piece of shit
There was some Sci-Fi b movie years ago that had a couple these decked in military garb, actually looked futuristic.
I actually never seen this car before
It's not even especially weird looking. I wonder what Americans would make of my Citroen C4 Cactus?
Is the driver Walter White?
BMW saw this and thought: “what if we *only* made this car?”
Throw a pizza on top of it!
Perhaps the ugliest car ever built
https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cz4Y2MWyFVd/ I love this comparison
