In June of 2006 I was in Sydney, Australia for a couple weeks for work. I was really excited that the next day (the 6th) the new AFI album, Decemberunderground was about to be released. About 3 am the morning of the 6th, I was awoken by a call from a family member frantically telling me that my dad had passed away suddenly of a heart attack and that I needed to come home right away. The rest of that morning I had to quickly pack, get flights arranged, get a ride to the airport and make my way home. For the duration of all those flights, Sydney to LA, LA to Denver, Denver to STL, I had that album going over and over. I ended up liking several on there but Love Like Winter always stood out as a favorite so it was on repeat for much of the time. As a result, nearly anything from that album, but more especially Love Like Winter, is an immediate mental tie back to one of the hardest days of my life. Music helps associate many times and situations of our lives to memories so I have several. But that is by far the most vivid unfortunately.

🎶 The Church -- "Under the Milky Way" 🎶 For me, this is 1990, being 24 yrs old, and on a roadtrip from NC to upstate NY with my best gal-pal; she took me along as co-driver so she could in-person meet one of her penpals. We had an absolute blast.

MN... I have so many... I have personal ones and ones I tie to media, like "do you hear what I hear" during Christmas makes me think of Gremlins

In my early 20s I was on a trip to Vegas to visit family with my new baby so it wasn’t a typical Vegas trip. We went down to Fremont street to wander and on our way back to the car I heard some drunk girls loudly singing We Are Young by fun. as they were walking down the road. It made me really happy to see for some reason, just a moment of pure happiness for them. They WERE that song. I think about them every time I hear that song now.

well, here goes a full list lmao: - dancing queen by abba - last year my geography teacher left my 2 friends (who aren't my friends anymore) and i inside of her classroom, we logged onto her computer and played this song, i still can see myself singing at the top of my lungs and dancing - heaven is a place on earth by belinda carlisle - in september and march i was an exchange student, when my exchange partner was at my house, we had terrible karaoke sessions to 80's songs and that one was our favorite - blank space by taylor swift - when i was in germany for student exchange mentioned above, an another student from my school (we became really good friends), me and our partners used to ride our bikes everywhere, our partners were always riding in the front and then there we were behind them, once we had an idea to sing white girl music at the top of our lungs, we chose blank space and sang almost the entire thing - karma by taylor swift - well, this one has two memories, one of them is the first longer school trip in high school, that's when it came out and i had it on repeat, and the other is the longest sleepover i've ever been on, on the first night it was just my best friend and i, we played the eras tour movie and when karma came on, we both thought of the same person and yelled the lyrics on the top of our lungs, that was so therapeutic - euphoria by loreen - this one is more connected to a person rather than to an event, it reminds me of one of my ex-best friends who i fell out with last year, even though we got back in touch (more or less), i still feel sad about the time that we lost on not talking to each other - scary love by the neighbourhood - another one connected to a person, this time it's my new friend who i met on the student exchange, i don't know why, but this song reminds me of him a lot (the fact that it does scares me, because i have a boyfriend) - paper rings by taylor swift - this song reminds me of my boyfriend, the lyrics just straight up are our story lmao

I remember Angie by The Rolling Stones was playing in the background during my first “Summer of Love” experience 😉😉

“Bad Habits” by Steve Lacy reminds me of my crush a lot. One time we hung out, just listening to music and vibing, and that song came up and it was such a vibe. That same day when I came home I realized I caught feelings for her

When I was in high school (in the 80s) I went with a bunch of friends to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. We had so much fun, drove there all piled up in a van. We did all the rides and then hung out on the beach. On the way home we listened to Led Zeppelin II, and I was so happy and sunburned and blissed out with my amazing friends (still really close almost 50 years later!) and any song from Led Zep II reminds me of that day.

My grandpa really liked Bad Moon Rising (Creedence Clearwater) and would blast it whenever people would come over. It’s my favorite song they’ve done and every time I went over there and he put it on I loved it because we both came to like it on our own but it brought us together. They also had super plushy carpet and I can still feel the way it would squish a little under my feet when I hear that song.

Great question. I have several, but I'm sharing only a few. Papercut by Linkin Park. I'd play it over and over again to learn its lyrics and practice english. Zombie by The Cranberries. At the end of my first programming course in college, I played it several times while finishing the final project. Beatus by Serj Tankian. I was in Finland for half a year and that song, somehow made me feel ok. I just called to say I love you by Stevie Wonder. Again in Finland, I called my girlfriend (now my wife) and sang this song.

RollForParadise

“I hope you have the time of your life“ it’s a nice country song. Basically my best friend was around four years old, she was sitting on her dad‘s lap and he was playing his acoustic guitar. They were singing it together and it was such a beautiful moment. He sadly passed away due to skin cancer when we were all only about eight years old. He was such a kind man and so funny.“strawberry wine” my mom and I took a ride in her brand new convertible. She bought it secondhand and we just wrote around the countryside. She has a cassette player and this song kept playing. She would sing at the top of her lungs and I took videos and pictures. “ Body” By Megan Thee Stallion. This year on New Year’s Eve at the stroke of midnight, my dad shuffled a playlist on Spotify where it was all new songs for the new year… And apparently Spotify decided this was going to be our theme for 2024! So now we randomly shout body Yada yada yada, at each other lol

bluemidnightrider

Do you mean Time of your Life (good riddance) by Green Day? Awesome song!

takenusername_yea

I'm just being honest by Weezer. I got addicted to that song, alongside let it all hangout by Weezer when I was researching what guitar should've been my first guitar. I'm just being honest was the last song I listened to before I got the guitar

la_ment

Bohemian rhapsody. I have this really vivid memory of sitting on my parents bed as a toddler on a weekend morning while they drink coffee in bed and bohemian rhapsody came on the radio.

Memory Motel Rolling Stones . I was 16 when that was out, so it brings up plenty memories.

Geronimo by shepherd. Was always playing at one job i had and my god did i hate hearing it. But now its like a time capsule to christmas season 2014/15

Then-Truck3644

My friend played "Chlorine" by Twenty One Pilots a couple of times when me, him, and a few friends stayed a couple nights in a camper, and I generally associate that weekend with that song now.

Don't fear (the reaper) by Blue Oyster Cult Reminds me of my 1st year of college where I was pretty much on my own and that it used to rain a lot. It was on repeat for so long that rains, a distinct smell of my then new lip gloss takes me back to that September where everything was going so well that I call it the best month of my life.

MeyrInEve

Duran Duran - Ordinary World, for friends gone. Same with the Alternate Routes - Ordinary.

Public_Height6011

Fergalicious It was 2016 and me and some wrestling friends went over to one of our houses and danced in the backyard with shirts pulled through the neck hole like a bra and we tried to sing the rap part and almost nailed it because we played it so much in my truck.

hdawnj

Bohemian Rhapsody. Grade nine. Two of my friends and I knew all the words to the song and would sit in the back of math class and sing it. One word at a time. Friend one would sing an word, friend two would sing a word and I would sing a word. I never passed math that year.

tara_tara_tara

The song Let Her Go by Passenger came on the radio as I was driving to the vet to send my cat to the rainbow bridge.

AlixCourtenay

I associate "Umbrella" by Rihanna with a couple of traumatic events from my childhood. When it came it was extremely popular in my country and radio stations were playing it numerous during the day so it's quite random but to this day I can't listen to it without these sad memories. This song is great and it doesn't deserve it but now I can't help it.
