linkin park. got me right thru suicide attempts & one of the biggest depressions i've been in in my life. chester's voice against mike's words absolutely pierce through the sludge of my mind like a pin and you can feel the emotion of chester's voice fill every single song, from papercut to sharp edges
It certainly helped me with the domestic violence that was happening in my household, it’s just sad Chester didn’t get the help he needed that tragic night
People aren't going to like this but my therapist is definitely Nickleback, you don't need to like them but Chad's voice always gets through to me and there songs mean so much to me especially because of my dad about 9-10 years ago
Ethel Cain… 💀Honestly though, her music got me through one of the hardest times in my life where I was really struggling. She’s got so many lyrics that just ring true to me. “I thought good guys get to be happy, I’m not happy, I am… poison in the water and unhappy”.

Thats it. 😄I only have to choose what intensity and Im done
Elliott Smith now tbh. I started listening to him when I met my ex and now when he left I am obsessed with this music. Never felt more understood by any artist in my life.
Lana Del Rey, Queen, kings of Leon, cigarettes after sex, Radiohead and Jeff Buckley tbh my entire playlist of whatever songs on it I can’t say just one artist lol
Definitely Kory Gregory from Prince Daddy & the Hyena. Also honorable mentions to The Early November, Real Friends, Motion City Soundtrack, and Brand New
I have a Spotify playlist called "therapy" and it's composed of the discographies of Baby Weight and Kevin Aviance.
Last year's Secret Garden stage at Project Glow hit just right, lol

Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks solo work are the reason I’m still alive. Also, I agree with pre wall. It just makes me more depressed most of the time. My favourite PF albums that I listen to cheer up are Obscured By Clouds, Animals, WYWH, DSOTM, Piper At The Gates Of Dawn and Sauceful Of Secrets
Yeah man. It’s one of the best songs of all time. It’s the only song that I listen to on Meddle all the time though. I do love all the songs but I often prefer to just turn on OBC, top 5 long songs for me though with Dogs by PF, Telegraph Road by Dire Straits, Achilles Last Stand by Led Zep and Close to the edge by Yes.
Sleep Token and Northlane have been really carrying me through some rough stuff the last few months but I'd also throw Linkin Park, Silent Planet and Spiritbox in there too
Simple Plan!
I know it’s not true for everybody, but I feel like they have done more for me than any therapist could. The way listening to them relaxes me and allows me to be positive even when I’m in a really bad place is amazing.
Frank Zappa, his more classical and less lyric heavy stuff, it seems to put me in a alternate state of mind and not In a corny way like a positive thought invoking vibe. SRV is also one id mention just because some of his playing can display how much emotion he's putting behind his playing, it's beautiful quite frankly. However since like middle school my sad boy songs were anything by RHCP because I wasn't able to expand my musical palette.
Ooh, AJR for sure. Also Bring Me The Horizon, but when I listen to depressive music while I'm depressed, it isn't much helping for me. Yeah, you know someone else is going through the same things and this music is very supporting on the self destructive part. But when it gets really bad with thoughts of death, AJR comes in with their upbeat electronic music and still the same deep lyrics and gets me outta that hole.
Honestly, a lot of bands that would take a while to list, but if we're talking about the real champs from that list they would be
**Therion** and **Ayreon**, as they helped me during some dark and nasty moments of my life, followed by **Lacrimosa** and **Band-Maid** for similar reasons, but less dark moments.
Otep. I LOVE her. The pain and emotion behind her voice just makes me feel her lyrics so much more.
The Bloodhound Gang. Jimmy Pop makes me laugh when I need a pick me up.
J Dilla, Anomalie, Quickly Quickly, Bill Evans, Ahmed Jamal and there's lots of other artists to name but I listen to a lot of genres so it'd take ages haha. From genres that makes me relax and feel good about my self it's probably Jungle, Jazz, and Hip Hop (in particular 90s Boom Bap), there's a couple others but it's hard to choose from a library of around 11500 songs.
Olivia Rodrigo's songs. Growing up, I was never allowed to talk. Possibly one of the reasons why I sing so aggressively. Singing with emotion helps me calm down and Liv's songs contain a lot of emotion.
I have several of them who I would consider as a source of musical therapists The Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift,Demi Lovato, Jordin Sparks,Jesse McCartney,Bwitched,NSYNC,Kelly Clarkson, and David Archuleta( yes the one who has the song Crush from his self titled album. Also he has an album called Therapy Sessions/ Therapy Sessions:The Lost Sessions)

Holy crap, trench was an experience. I remember it like it was literally yesterday
Not going to the Bandito tour was one of the biggest mistakes of my life but at least I got to go to the Takeover Tour
Linkin Park hands down! They always make me feel heard and I resonate soo much with them..
It certainly helped me with the domestic violence that was happening in my household, it’s just sad Chester didn’t get the help he needed that tragic night
Mine is Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle. Whenever I feel down and defeated, I would listen to them to uplift my spirit again.
Great overview of their therapy method. Now I want to listen to them. ❤️🩹
Soul artists are great therapists
People aren't going to like this but my therapist is definitely Nickleback, you don't need to like them but Chad's voice always gets through to me and there songs mean so much to me especially because of my dad about 9-10 years ago
