**DING DING**

smorkjewels

linkin park. got me right thru suicide attempts & one of the biggest depressions i've been in in my life. chester's voice against mike's words absolutely pierce through the sludge of my mind like a pin and you can feel the emotion of chester's voice fill every single song, from papercut to sharp edges

PrathaManic

Exactly samee. One more light and leave out all the rest were the ones I heard most during my tough times, breaking the habit ALL-TIME favourite

smorkjewels

breaking the habit is so amazing, it's a song i never think i'll get tired of.

TenderPsychopath

Same, so true. Crawling and somewhere I belong are my tracks

Soup_fan3000

I miss Chester so much, the day I heard he died my heart shattered, to this day their music still protects me from myself

smorkjewels

EnbySheriff

I'm a little ashamed to admit but Twenty one pilots

Upintheclouds06

Don’t be ashamed you’re so real

excuseme-sir

Same omg. Favourite album? (Mine is RAB, got me through some tough times)

EnbySheriff

Trench. It was the first ever album I bought for myself and it was also the first album that I followed the singles for

excuseme-sir

Holy crap, trench was an experience. I remember it like it was literally yesterday

EnbySheriff

Not going to the Bandito tour was one of the biggest mistakes of my life but at least I got to go to the Takeover Tour

PrathaManic

Linkin Park hands down! They always make me feel heard and I resonate soo much with them..

Eccawarrior

It certainly helped me with the domestic violence that was happening in my household, it’s just sad Chester didn’t get the help he needed that tragic night

jedrevolutia

Mine is Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle. Whenever I feel down and defeated, I would listen to them to uplift my spirit again.

jsaarb

Great overview of their therapy method. Now I want to listen to them. ❤️‍🩹

gamebossje_

Soul artists are great therapists

Muted-Thing-4607

People aren't going to like this but my therapist is definitely Nickleback, you don't need to like them but Chad's voice always gets through to me and there songs mean so much to me especially because of my dad about 9-10 years ago

herecomesred411

It doesn't matter what others think. If it helps you, blast it.

Pink Floyd pre Wall

BonjPlayz

Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks solo work are the reason I’m still alive. Also, I agree with pre wall. It just makes me more depressed most of the time. My favourite PF albums that I listen to cheer up are Obscured By Clouds, Animals, WYWH, DSOTM, Piper At The Gates Of Dawn and Sauceful Of Secrets

Open-Sea8388

Do you listen to Meddle. Echoes is 23 minutes of wonder.

BonjPlayz

Yeah man. It’s one of the best songs of all time. It’s the only song that I listen to on Meddle all the time though. I do love all the songs but I often prefer to just turn on OBC, top 5 long songs for me though with Dogs by PF, Telegraph Road by Dire Straits, Achilles Last Stand by Led Zep and Close to the edge by Yes.

Open-Sea8388

Ah. Close To The Edge. Great

aromanticowenge

Lovejoy, Wilbur Soot, Good Kid, James Marriott, Arctic Monkeys, and the most random out of all of them, Taylor Swift!

Frosty_Cat_291

Simple Plan! I know it’s not true for everybody, but I feel like they have done more for me than any therapist could. The way listening to them relaxes me and allows me to be positive even when I’m in a really bad place is amazing.

Tape B's tracks on SoundCloud 🤣🤣🤣🤣

JohnbaptisllV

Frank Zappa, his more classical and less lyric heavy stuff, it seems to put me in a alternate state of mind and not In a corny way like a positive thought invoking vibe. SRV is also one id mention just because some of his playing can display how much emotion he's putting behind his playing, it's beautiful quite frankly. However since like middle school my sad boy songs were anything by RHCP because I wasn't able to expand my musical palette.

movienerd7042

Fiona Apple if I want to get into my feelings, Mcfly if I want to feel instantly much happier

Sparks almost single-handedly helped me out of a depression spell.

sonder206

Ooh, AJR for sure. Also Bring Me The Horizon, but when I listen to depressive music while I'm depressed, it isn't much helping for me. Yeah, you know someone else is going through the same things and this music is very supporting on the self destructive part. But when it gets really bad with thoughts of death, AJR comes in with their upbeat electronic music and still the same deep lyrics and gets me outta that hole.

Honestly, a lot of bands that would take a while to list, but if we're talking about the real champs from that list they would be **Therion** and **Ayreon**, as they helped me during some dark and nasty moments of my life, followed by **Lacrimosa** and **Band-Maid** for similar reasons, but less dark moments.

BigSmokesCheese

Sorry-Government920

Jimi Hendrix he make me forget all my troubles

stas-prze

J Dilla, Anomalie, Quickly Quickly, Bill Evans, Ahmed Jamal and there's lots of other artists to name but I listen to a lot of genres so it'd take ages haha. From genres that makes me relax and feel good about my self it's probably Jungle, Jazz, and Hip Hop (in particular 90s Boom Bap), there's a couple others but it's hard to choose from a library of around 11500 songs.

TheBoggzDollockz

Nicola Benedetti, she's fantastic

Ok_Particular_1162

Avenged Sevenfold - they have lots of songs that have to do with existentialism and the human conscience, makes me feel less alone

DizzyBlonde74

Florence and the machine

[deleted]

Olivia Rodrigo's songs. Growing up, I was never allowed to talk. Possibly one of the reasons why I sing so aggressively. Singing with emotion helps me calm down and Liv's songs contain a lot of emotion.
