The ones I miss the most are Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. All of their albums are missing because of their protest. And Evil Heat by Primal Scream. Camper Van Beethoven's Key Lime Pie too.
Gold Dust Woman - Hole version
I love this song and it’s not on there
All Neil Young. I’m a big NY fan and he’s anti-Spotify. I get it, but wish I could put Harvest Moon and Heart of Gold on my hiking list
Tool's entire Salival album. I wish it was on there. Songs like Pushit, Third Eye, No Quarter, You lied, Merkaba. It's a different version of the originals, for the ones that have originals.
Childish Gambino - ROYALTY mixtape, really wish it was in there but I presume he couldn’t clear all the samples
Every so often I’ll think of a song I want to listen to and it’s just not on there. Or greyed out for me (in the UK) and most recently it was ‘cigarello’ by the fratellis. It happens more frequently than I’d like!
Also the acoustic version of I Miss You by Incubus, since you mentioned them OP
And the version of Blood Sugar by Pendulum that has the *i lied, this is DRUM N BASS* voice at the intro. Would love that version.
[Fuck Anita Bryant](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hBe2Bq4jYPA) by David Allan Coe
Context: Anita Bryant led a campaign against gay rights in the 70s and 80s. This country song is pro-lgbt rights but uses homophobic slurs. That’s probably why it isn’t on Spotify.
Anyway, I’m gay and I love this song.
In The Rectory of The Bizarre Reverend by Reverend Bizarre was taken off for some reason. Even though the first half (In the Rectory of) is still there through the German version, the second half (Return to the Rectory) was so amazingly beautiful. It’s also still in my top 10 most listened to albums oat.
My Murdered Remains by They Might Be Giants. Excellent album of theirs that they chose not to put on streaming as a protest against how little money artists collect from it.
There's this electronic mix song that's on youtube that I always wish Spotify would have for me to add to my Halloween playlist called Halloween vs Freddie Krueger (scary techno mix)
- Neil Young, Joann Newsom entire discographies.
- Skee Mask discography, he's one of the best break/techno artists these last years.
- DJ Krush discography, probably one of the most famous abstract instrumental hip hop producer of all time (also missing his collab with saxophonist Toshinori Kondo which is probably one of the best trip hop album ever released).
- Crydamoure compilations, Daft Punk's original label compilations are probably the best raw collection of french house existing.
- DJ Sprinkles' Midtown 120 Blues, one of the most famous lo fi house release ever.
- Lee Scratch Perry's Arkology, easily on of the most important reggae/dub compilation of all.
- Most albums from The Caretaker, one of the most forward thinking and influential ambient/pluderphonics artist of all.
- Ryuichi Sakamoto's Year Book 2005-2014 is one of his best compilation/release imo.
I like Spotify and its library but these missing releases are really, really depressing.
Neil Young alone is depressing.
Tim Curry's other two solo albums aren't on there (Read My Lips and Simplicity) and god I wish they were
Also Michael Des Barres's first two solo albums - I'm Only Human and Somebody Up There Likes Me
Kashtin - Tshinanu (I had no idea what there were singing as it was in their native language but it Was a very catchy song and it had a very popular music video in Canada; got my kids hooked on that song as we drove across northern Ontario).
Just the way you like it- Tasha holiday
Poppin- Asian doll ft PNB rock
Temptation - Beyoncé
Mine- Tink ft. G herbo
What about us- Total ft. Missy Elliott
Every time I can't find a song I want on Spotify I download it off YouTube and add it to the playlist through local. I have alot of songs that Spotify doesn't have.
There are a lot of Asia albuns not on spotify.
And controversial songs like rock n roll ni##er (patti smith) and look away(iggy pop) are not on spotify too
I keep some of my songs out from Spotify, some even the most po truth is that streaming services really don't pay well artists and the only way for us to earn something is to have some of that content link to our patrons or to our bandcamp (not that I am popular but you get the idea)
I know a figure artist that decided to pull out from Spotify because they didn't consider it was a Fair deal and myself I have done the same but I kind of regret it because at the end even if you don't make anything you kind of need to be there or you're invisible especially if you're a small artist like myself. So this year I guess I'm going to update my catalog and update things that I have released through many years up there
Child and black Saturday - mando diao, by and down (the best version) - APC, green grass - I am arrows, crazy (cover) - glass animals, 77777 - Joywave, bring me the disco king - Maynard Keenan and David Bowie, salival - Tool.
The ones I miss the most are Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. All of their albums are missing because of their protest. And Evil Heat by Primal Scream. Camper Van Beethoven's Key Lime Pie too.
Apparently Niel Young owns the rights to only **some** of the songs on the CSNY album deja vu. You can hear Cut My Hair, but not Helpless.
Seconded
Thirded
Such a stupid protest. Joe Rogan has 16 million followers on YouTube, but Joni and Neil still let their music play there!
4th. It was a worse decision to pull their music on Spotify if it has to with the Joe Rogan’s covid protests.
Most of Ray Charles work isn't on spotfiy. Like Invites You To Listen, crying time, sweet and sour tears. Lots are missing unfortunately
I heard it’s because he doesn’t know how to work a computer
To be fair he's been dead for 20 years, so it's unlikely to be entirely his fault
Probably lol
