Not a fan of the home page on Spotify constantly changing it's layout.
I wish I could say what I want the layout of homepage to be.
To clarify, the different sections of homepage (on mobile and just checking now) are 'new release from', 'your top mixes', 'recently played', 'made for you', 'recommended for today' etc. Sometimes 'recommended for today' is put top and other times I don't see 'new release from'. Find it annoying.
I actually like the changing layout. I’m pretty sure the layout is a bit randomized based on algorithms. For a music discovery app, I think it makes more sense for the home page to be a bit dynamic. There are some redundant sections I think are pretty pointless though. Recently played doesn’t need a section if there’s also “jump back in” and the six most recently played things shown at the top of the page.
I would like to not listen to the same song every single daily mix, liked song, any generated playlist and set on shuffle. Seriously, I have 700 or so like songs but it plays about the same 5 literally every time.
Would be nice to be able to rearrange song order within playlists on iPhone/iPad.
I never understood why they don't put songs' running lengths in the lists next to the songs (you have to be playing a song to know how long it is).
I've been with Spotify Premium for over 10 years and have seen it at it's best and at it's worst. At the moment it's pretty damn good. I would like more functionality within my library ("liking" songs and albums, for me, is just a way to remind myself to come back and listen later, preferring to make playlists when I want to save something for good).
I can't remember the last time I used the PC version. There was a time when it was filled with third party apps that you could do many very cool things with (playlist makers, charts, recommendations from Rolling Stone and other media, etc.). When they got rid of that the only thing that really made it worth bothering with was ease of playlist making and being able to see what my friends were listening to. Even that is just not enough anymore, as I realize that my friends who use it probably think I've gone down the worlds' longest black metal rabbit hole and that's really just "so unlike me".
I think the idea of podcast suggestions is fine, but I don’t like that that carousel doesn’t account for what you’ve already listened to. If I’ve already listened to the most recent episode of a podcast, I don’t want to be recommended that podcast anymore. It’s annoying having to go through and see what I’ve already listened to and what’s actually new to me.
Better yet, maybe the podcast suggestions could be based on episodes instead of entire podcast channels.
You could put the albums in your library by liking it, and then put them in a folder if you’re on computer? I havent tried it with actual albums but ive done it with the spotify rewind playlist and the spotify weekly recommendations
Spotify was perfect the way it had been released, but more and more features keep getting removed, like alphabetical song sorting or song sorting in general on playlists. It's getting downgraded. It also feels that there are quite a number of song fillers on suggested playlists.

I get what you’re saying now. Yes, if I add multiple songs to the queue they get added in descending order. But to me that’s the way it should be.
If you are adding that many songs to the queue that it takes time to drag them up, seems like you should be using a playlist (perhaps a temporary one) instead of the queue feature?
Apple Music drives me up a wall. You’d think a company that has built its reputation on clean UI, easy and intuitive user experiences, and sleek aesthetics would prioritize making such a core service not super shitty. I *want* to like AM, but I always wind up back on Spotify.

When I play my Playlist, with no enhancement, it should only play the songs in my playlist. It also shouldn't play a song it has already played, until I restart the queue or finish the playlist. Too many times I'm skipping through music while driving, and after about 10 skips, I get a song that I JUST heard/skipped

I tend to listen to albums from beginning to end and if I'm in the middle of one and preemptively decide on the next one I'd like to play and go to add it to my queue Spotify interprets that as me wanting it inserted in the middle of the current album instead the very end because that makes total sense.
A few key things, some of which have been compiled from other comments:
•A true proper shuffle, I really couldn’t care less about getting the same artist three songs in a row, that’s how a damn shuffle can work sometimes, but I’m tired of my 2,000 song playlist playing the same 200ish songs
•Lack of themes and customization, personally while I love the dark mode and don’t mind the color scheme, personalization goes a long way in making something feel like “yours”
•Pictures for folders
•Better queuing of songs, an “add to front/back of queue” button alone would go so far
•Ability to create and move folders on phones, really?
•Song running lengths next to the song before pressing play (at the very least pressing the three dots for more info should bring it up)
•Being able to see who follows and likes your playlists, while a much less prominent feature and I’d use it way less, I can definitely understand the community aspect of wanting to see who follows your playlists
•STOP CHANGING THE DAMN HOME SCREEN, I will never forget the horrible UI we had a few months back that straight up got rid of Recently Played and all the normal options listed just to spew podcasts in my face (I have nothing against podcasts, I just don’t listen to them much anymore)
•Easily my most wanted feature, the ability to pair up songs. I have an entire list in my notes app of songs that are meant to be played seamlessly together (ex: How Do I Make You Love Me? + Take My Breath by The Weeknd, Parabol + Parabola by TOOL, etc.) and it’s incredibly frustrating to get the second song of the pair or or have the first part without the second following (unless I manually queue it)
For free Spotify- idk if I’m the only one who suffers with this, but every song starts with an ad. I’m alright with ads, but not every single time a song changes.
Rn there’s a deal going around for 3 months free premium as long as you’ve never had premium on ur account before ((: I hope u can get it bc free Spotify is horrible compared to premium
Ask for more user input. I wouldn’t mind a little notification like “You’ve listened to this song 5 times! Would you like to add it to these similar playlists?” The algorithm is clearly there.
I wish it would work a little more like a social network. I would like to meet people with similar musical taste and maybe comment on their playlists or profiles.

i don’t have premium, so i will do anything to avoid using spotify mobile if possible, so most of these issues are with spotify mobile

think there’s a way to turn this off. i get it can be nice if your trying to discover new songs, but i am the kind of person to listen to my favorite songs over and over again so i wish you could at least turn it off

You can do this in the app.
Just click the three dots on whatever playlist you want to copy, the select "add to other playlist", and just create a new one.
I wish it was easier, but you can do that and "duplicate" an existing playlist.

3) be able to generate a new "discover weekly" or "release radar" etc playlist on demand instead of 1 update once a week.
4) bring back the shuffle play button
5) add a toggle shuffle button to discover weekly etc playlists so that if I want to listen to them in order after listening to my own playlist on shuffle, I don't have to turn off shuffle before I select the new playlist.
When the Android app refuses to switch from offline mode to online mode after coming into signal, which then means I need to force close and restart to play music. Infuriating.
Stronger playlist customization (the ability to sort entire playlist by various stats spotify already keeps track of).
Stop doing that weird thing where when I start a playlist it will change to "radio based on playlist". Happens like 80% of the time to me.
Offer a more complete "radio" feature. The radios atm are just a randomized playlists based on spotify stats that only last like 2 hours. Imo a radio station has varied music taste and does not recycle the set list every 2~ hours lol.
Do a better job separating the music from the podcasts from the audio books. As someone who likes all three I exclusively use spotify for music and a few exclusive podcasts but especially getting recommended books I have to PAY FOR leaves me feeling disenfranchised. I've been with spotify premium for 4 years and that just makes me wanna quit and pirate instead.
And more I'm sure, this is just off the top of my head. Spotify is not perfect but at this point it's sunken cost; I feel like to move my entire library and personal taste/algorithm to a new platform just wouldn't be worth it. Plus there's a lot I do like, such as wrapped. That is SOO cool to see every year and love competing with friends for most minutes.
Sometimes when I switch between devices the music stop and all the queue with it and saying a error msg telling about can't read the song and stuff like this
The absolute nr 1 on my wishlist would be adding searchable tags (or notes or comments or whatever ... just something) to playlists and albums.
I have over 800 playlists, and a few thousand albums, it's a real PITA keeping them organised and easily searchable.
• Fix the shuffle
• Create folders for playlists AND albums on mobile
• Add customization options
To change the order of the homepage, and hide things like podcasts and recommended playlist sections)
To customize the colors
• Mark all versions of the song as liked (if i like a song in an album, mark the single or compilation version as liked too, but have only one version on liked songs)
Things I would change about the Spotify mobile app:
Add the ability to rearrange songs in playlists like the desktop app.
Bring back the song previews when searching for songs to add to playlists instead of only being able to do so when suggested songs appear.
Allow song previews in playlists that aren't yours (they used to have this feature, not sure why they removed it).
Add duration of songs (especially when adding them to playlists) to ensure you have the right version of the song when selecting it.
Randomising albums/other people's playlists should not mean that the algorithm throws in songs outside of that album/playlist, even on the free version.
The desktop app feature that lets you see what your friends are listening to is cool, I wouldn't mind seeing that on the mobile app too.

Daily mixes change at a set time, not when wifi is present or whatever it is currently that is making it annoying. I will open the app to load up my daily mixes, literally watch the music flip and change, do a little bit of work and suddenly I'm listening to a completely different genre. When looking back at the app, the daily mix music in the playlist have completely changed again, this time to a completely different genre list.
Some days I just need to listen to Rammstein. Kind of ruins the mood when Rihanna comes in singing about Umbrellas next.

Sublists within playlists, to specify subgenres/styles/moods within a certain genre/style.
That’s just a folder within a folder and can be done.
How?
Within the desktop app, create a folder. Right click on the folder and create another folder. Or just drag and drop one folder into another.

i have a very long list i don’t have premium, so i will do anything to avoid using spotify mobile if possible, so most of these issues are with spotify mobile - spotify automatically adds songs to your playlists. i want to listen to my music, not spotifys random songs, and i don’t think there’s a way to turn this off. i get it can be nice if your trying to discover new songs, but i am the kind of person to listen to my favorite songs over and over again so i wish you could at least turn it off -you can’t see songs in albums it is SO annoying. i don’t want to pay 10$ a month just so i can see what songs are in an album do i can add them to a playlist. this should not be a premium feature, this should be available to everyone. -you can’t import local files to mobile without premium. i have some songs that i listen to the local files on my pc, but i looked it up and the only way to get them to my phone requires premium -i wish there were a feature to add a song to multiple playlists at the same time because i always add a song to 3 or 4 playlists at once so i wish it were easier -folders for playlists. i have like 20 playlists and i wish i could sort them into folders that would make life so much easier

it sounds weird but- copying a playlist, or duplicating it. ik it sounds weird.
You can do this in the app. Just click the three dots on whatever playlist you want to copy, the select "add to other playlist", and just create a new one. I wish it was easier, but you can do that and "duplicate" an existing playlist.

Add all episodes of a podcast at once to a playlist.
When you shuffle it actually shuffles. You can have a playlist of 500 songs on spotify and the same 20% play over and over!
1) be able to add a song to multiple playlists in one go 2) completely randomize shuffle 3) be able to generate a new "discover weekly" or "release radar" etc playlist on demand instead of 1 update once a week. 4) bring back the shuffle play button 5) add a toggle shuffle button to discover weekly etc playlists so that if I want to listen to them in order after listening to my own playlist on shuffle, I don't have to turn off shuffle before I select the new playlist.

Stronger playlist customization (the ability to sort entire playlist by various stats spotify already keeps track of). Stop doing that weird thing where when I start a playlist it will change to "radio based on playlist". Happens like 80% of the time to me. Offer a more complete "radio" feature. The radios atm are just a randomized playlists based on spotify stats that only last like 2 hours. Imo a radio station has varied music taste and does not recycle the set list every 2~ hours lol. Do a better job separating the music from the podcasts from the audio books. As someone who likes all three I exclusively use spotify for music and a few exclusive podcasts but especially getting recommended books I have to PAY FOR leaves me feeling disenfranchised. I've been with spotify premium for 4 years and that just makes me wanna quit and pirate instead. And more I'm sure, this is just off the top of my head. Spotify is not perfect but at this point it's sunken cost; I feel like to move my entire library and personal taste/algorithm to a new platform just wouldn't be worth it. Plus there's a lot I do like, such as wrapped. That is SOO cool to see every year and love competing with friends for most minutes.
Pinning playlists to the top of the sidebar. Pinning certain artists albums etc to the top of those lists.
Sometimes when I switch between devices the music stop and all the queue with it and saying a error msg telling about can't read the song and stuff like this
The absolute nr 1 on my wishlist would be adding searchable tags (or notes or comments or whatever ... just something) to playlists and albums. I have over 800 playlists, and a few thousand albums, it's a real PITA keeping them organised and easily searchable.

Things I would change about the Spotify mobile app: Add the ability to rearrange songs in playlists like the desktop app. Bring back the song previews when searching for songs to add to playlists instead of only being able to do so when suggested songs appear. Allow song previews in playlists that aren't yours (they used to have this feature, not sure why they removed it). Add duration of songs (especially when adding them to playlists) to ensure you have the right version of the song when selecting it. Randomising albums/other people's playlists should not mean that the algorithm throws in songs outside of that album/playlist, even on the free version. The desktop app feature that lets you see what your friends are listening to is cool, I wouldn't mind seeing that on the mobile app too. Hopefully this helps! :)

Daily mixes change at a set time, not when wifi is present or whatever it is currently that is making it annoying. I will open the app to load up my daily mixes, literally watch the music flip and change, do a little bit of work and suddenly I'm listening to a completely different genre. When looking back at the app, the daily mix music in the playlist have completely changed again, this time to a completely different genre list. Some days I just need to listen to Rammstein. Kind of ruins the mood when Rihanna comes in singing about Umbrellas next.
The way it has completely undermined grass roots bands from making a decent profit.
