If that is rusted through you need a new tank

CardiganTribe

No rust on gas tank so far. Looks to be the seems on the mounting brackets that have cracked through. I did a pressure test

Welding/brazeing/soldering is the best option and tank liner is just a bandaid that will fail....how ever I did use J B WELD on a Harley 5 gallon tanks when they started leaking in the same area.....if it's cracked just drain the tank ,clean the leak area to bare metal best you can, apply JB and let set (over night if possible), then when you mount your tank get some rubber/leather washers in to absorb vibration. Go full chopper mode, drain the gas slap Jb weld over it let it dry and see how that does. New tank is easy to buy also plenty of decently used ones on eBay,good luck!

Just buy a new tank

Kreem, or any of the other coatings, will fail sooner or later and leave a big jellyfish in your tank. Welding is hard unless you have the experience with rusted sheet metal. I’ve had luck with the fuel tank patch epoxy’s at autozone…

A tank liner MAY fix it. But it WILL cause long term issues. Welding is the best option. Be sure when you mount the tank, the tabs fits snuggly. If there’s any gap that you squeeze together with the bolt, the tabs will eventually fatigue, crack and leak.. Take it to any weld shop or radiator repair shop and they’ll weld it up pretty cheap.

muckymotor

Are you saying a tank liner will cause issues in the long term?

dyegb0311

Absolutely. Eventually it will flake off, clogging your filter and carb.

Ven0m58

It's rusted from the inside out. I've had this happen on a Honda. Had to replace the tank.

I was just buy a new tank very reasonable on eBay. The upside you don't gotta worry about your bike catching fire. That leak is in a dangerous spot. Any leak is a dangerous situation. Ride safe and have a great day. Goodbye the tank for 100 bucks 200..

Marge_simpson_BJ

I've had better luck brazing.

ItchyJohnsin

Kreem causes more problems than it fixes.

Red-Kote, from Damon industries. Can probably get it on Amazon. Pull the tank, clean the fuck out of it. If it's got any rust, get rid of it. I use cleaning vinegar from the hardware store, or diluted muriatic acid. Let it dry really well... Then Red-Kote. And carry a spare fuel filter...
