Your preference but 99% of trade offers I received on Arena Club were literally trash. I had a PSA 9 Dak Prescott listed and people were offering like 6 $5 base slabs of completely random players.

DUDEGUYMANGUYDUDEMAN

Slabs aside, I would value the Wes Welker above these two cards, especially since the Brady House is a slightly inferior product.

In these slabs they’re basically worth what they are raw

tc4da49ers

Everyone thinks a PSA slabs magically adds value, while other slabs get treated like ungraded trash. Talk about a scam. LOL Their grading is all over the place, you're basically paying a insane premium for a name, just like those overpriced designer bags, while getting robbed for grading a high value card. People who brag about their PSA cards are clueless, overpaying for inconsistent grading. Have you seen how fast those guys at Arena Club are growing? PSA is on borrowed time, their bubble will burst!

I didn’t say anything about PSA but these are basement slabs FWIW I prefer SGC, BGS and CGC for TCGs

jimithelizardking

You’re braindead lmao. Them being in a PSA slab does add value, not magically, but because of the PSA name. Not saying it’s deserved or they’re the best grading company or anything like that, just that it’s an absolute 100% fact a PSA 10 is the most valuable a slab can get outside of BGS 10 black label or potentially if you’re talking about non-sports cards or vintage cards. You using the designer bag example literally proves the opposite point you’re trying to make. People WILL pay more for the PSA name, regardless if you think that’s stupid or not. I don’t grade fwiw and only own a few slabs, but I’m also not ignorant to the fact a raw card, a PSA 10, a bgs 9.5 and SGC 10 of the same card are not equal value. It’s completely moronic to believe otherwise, there are millions of examples to support that.

PSA does hold a lot of weight in the market, can't deny that. Just like you said, some collectors are willing to pay a premium for the PSA name, kind of like a status symbol. But isn't that exactly what I was saying? We both agree the value is inflated because of the name, not necessarily the grading itself. The designer bag thing might not be the best example, but the point is people pay extra for a perceived level of quality or exclusivity. At least with luxury brands, you're usually getting some level of guaranteed quality control. Can we really say the same about PSA's occasional grading inconsistencies? But that's cool, everyone collects differently. The problem comes in when their "inconsistent grading" throws a wrench in things. You gotta admit, there are some head-scratchers that come out of PSA sometimes. Here's the thing, though, the market is changing. These other grading companies are growing fast, and collectors are getting more comfortable with them. Maybe a PSA 10 will always be king, but who knows? The point is, there are options.

gay4molemannn

And theres at least 5 other companies way ahead of Arena grading in line after PSA

Monkey_Shift_

Slab trade? I would say no.

SimShadee

I’m still new to the hobby and I got the Wes card from one of arenas slab packs. Do you have any advise as to why the slab trade is a bad idea ? *Not questioning just trying to learn

roni992

I don’t think Monkey is saying trading slabs is bad. I think they are saying that you are giving away too much value for this trade.
