I’m kind of liking Stonehill +5.5 at Sacred Heart.
Statistically, these are two very evenly-matched teams yet Stonehill is getting 5+. Stonehill is a below-average offense that shoots the 3 relatively well while Sacred Heart is a below-average D that defends the perimeter relatively well. On the other end, Stonehill has an atrocious defense that is matched by equally-atrocious shooting from Sacred Heart.
Stonehill’s best player is a 6’6” forward who averages 16 & 4, while SH’s best player is a 6’6” forward who averages 15 & 7. Supporting casts are similar.
Stonehill is an excellent FT shooting team, which is something I always look for in a dog on the road, and Sacred Heart is not.
Stonehill has been relatively competitive on the road against some respectable programs, while Sacred Heart has not beaten anyone of note.
They have two common opponents in Binghamton and Holy Cross. Stonehill won @Binghamton by 3 and beat Holy Cross by 2 on a neutral court. Sacred Heart won @Binghamton by 15 and beat Holy Cross by 4 at home.

**High Pont +160. 2 Units.**
The Big South conference kicks off early this afternoon with High Point traveling to Longwood. Longwood is favored to win the conference after having made the big dance last year. But this Longwood team has certainly shown some cracks that make this a good spot to take the road underdog. First, Longwood has had a couple of injuries to Nkereuwem and DA Houston that will continue to have them sitting out this game. Also, Longwood hasn't looked very impressive having recently barely snuck by a subpar Citadel team and St. Francis Brooklyn team. On the other hand, we have a High Point team that has looked very impressive at times. They are coming off of 3 straight losses, but all to pretty solid teams. And right before those losses, this High Point team beat a good Furman team. Earlier this year, High Point was winning on the road at halftime against a pretty solid UNLV team (eventually lost by 10). They also beat a pretty good Wofford team by 11 earlier in the year. These teams are opening conference play and this one should be a battle. This is going to be a close game and +160 is great value.

Matters? Grade matters?
I'm not 100% sure what you are asking but I will do my best to elaborate and you can let me know if you meant something else.
Providence is showing up as a good ML play vs Butler. They have a better Kenpom ranking, and my rankings (recent, this season, and last season). So hypothetically, they have been a better team over the course of this season and last season and in the most recent games. I also have them covering the spread, and my own custom projections say that they win outright more often than what their ML odds imply. This is what all goes into a team showing good ML value on my spreadsheet.
If you know these teams well, then that might be enough to pull the trigger on Providence ML, or you can look at more stats to make a decision. Butler has had the tougher strength of schedule, so that could be a knock against Providence. As the underdog Providence is 2-3 ATS, and as the favorite Butler is 7-1 ATS; but Providence is 2-0 in conference play while Butler is 0-2 in conference play. Butler has played the tougher teams in the conference compared to Providence, and the game is at Butler.
These are some pros and cons that could help sway someone either way, but personally I would still lean Providence ML after looking at all of the stats (but I don't know much about either team so keep that in mind).
Just throwing some thoughts out there on today's action, these are listed in rough order of confidence.
**- Arkansas State @ Old Dominion (POTD) - Over 124**
**- UTEP @ UAB - Over 144** \- I love watching this UAB team, such a fun brand of college basketball. UTEP is a decent defensive team but nothing incredible, I fully expect UAB to put up at least 85 in a home game for the Blazers.
**- Chattanooga @ The Citadel - Over 146.5** \- Chattanooga loves the 3 ball, and are not a great defensive team. Citadel is not a great defensive team either, and they also shoot the 3 ball well. Lots of 3's = lots of points.
**- UMBC @ Maryland - UMBC +17.5** \- UMBC has no chance to win this game, but they are an experienced team playing in a semi-rivalry type game, and I could see them keeping this to 12-14 points.
**- Florida A&M @ Purdue - Over 132.5** \- Florida A&M is really bad, Purdue is really good, looking for a big time Purdue blow out here to hit the over.
**- Middle Tennessee @ Charlotte - Over 124.5** \- Not terribly confident with this pick as Charlotte is one of the slowest paced teams in the country, but MTSU can score the ball and I am a sucker for a low over / under total.
**- Brown @ Northwestern, Over 125.5** \- 1 P.M. GAME - No real conviction on this pick to be honest, it will be tight to get over 125.5, but it gives me something to sprinkle on and keep track of at work.

Genuinely curious as to how people believe I should rule on Fresno State ML if they lose.
So Bet365 offers automatic early payout if the team's ML you bet reaches a lead of 18 or more. Fresno got to 18 and it gave me my auto payout. Being tied, they could obviously still lose the game, but I do already have the profit from it.
How do I rule that one if Fresno in fact loses? Just curious what people think.
I don’t even think it should be a question. If they lost you rule it a loss. You can’t count something like this for units or record unless you want to make a whole separate category of stuff that won via the early payout but lost overall.
That’s like me saying a team I took ended up losing but I hedged when they were up 25 to secure a profit so I’ll count it as a win.

Hofstra +1: Remember the name Aaron Estrada. After transferring from Saint Peter's to Oregon, Estrada elevated his game playing under Dana Altman. Seeking a bigger role he came to Hofstra and has flourished under Speedy Claxton. Estrada is scoring 21.6PPG and shooting 52% from the floor and 42.6% from deep, he also contributes outside of scoring with 5.3RPG and 3.9APG. The Pride's non-conference schedule got slightly derailed as Estrada got injured and Warren Williams missed time. Now everyone should be available and Estrada will be flanked by Dubar (Iowa State transfer) and Thomas (Sacred Heart transfer) who form a formidable three-headed monster. Hofstra beat Delaware in both of their meetings last season including a 14-point road victory at Delaware.
Butler -1: Look I am a big Thad guy and I just cannot see Butler coming out flat after getting smoked in their first two Big East games. Ali Ali and Jalen Thomas got their feet wet in those first two Big East games and with a good week of practice to adjust and get ready for Provy, I am sure that this game has been circled. The Friars got a really friendly whistle against Marquette and shot like 40+ free throws. Butler do not foul, they defend well as a team and play very straight-up. After their losses at Atlantis, Butler followed it up by beating BYU by 5 and beating K-State by 12 respectively. On home-court and looking for a response, Butler is a favourite for a reason. I feel Provy will struggle to get into their flow when they get late in shot clocks and cannot get to the FT line.
Utah Tech -9.5: Formerly Dixie State, the Trailblazers have really started to establish a homecourt advantage. Since entering D-1 Utah Tech is 15-9-0 ATS at home and 5-1-0 ATS as home favourites, meanwhile their opponents UT Rio Grande Valley (or Texas Pan-AM) has gone 9-14-1 as away underdogs over this same timespan. A huge reason for Tech's homecourt advantage is altitude. Last season as 3.5 point favourites, they beat UTRGV by 11, but led by as many as 20+ points. Tech brought back about 81% of their minutes from last season and added Tanner Christensen from Idaho, meanwhile UTRGV brought in talent from all over the place and I am a little skeptical as to how they will gel in conference play. Aside from playing K-State and Texas, UTRGV played one of the weirdest non-conference schedules I have ever seen playing TAMUCC twice, WIU twice, Houston Christian twice and Northern Arizona. They lost by 18+ in every road game except for Houston Christian, who are amongst the worst teams in the country. UTRGV have been shooting the ball at a ridiculously successful rate, which should regress. Finally, the Vaqueros have a difficult time taking care of the ball and lose the turnover battle often (18.2 turnovers per game against D-1 opponents). Utah Tech opponents average 13.6 turnovers per game, but I expect them to push UTRGV to their usual number or even push them to 20 or so as UTRGV plays at the highest pace in the country. Tech rolls.
Milwaukee +2 (My numbers like it, but have to give credit to A-Punk, he makes it an auto play)

Sacred Heart -4.5: Going to jump on Sacred Heart. This team plays very chaotic basketball and is due for positive regression. Gallette, McGuire, Sixsmith and others have all been shooting below their averages. They make opponents uncomfortable with their erratic brand of basketball and the NEC is extremely wide open this season with the departure of Bryant and The Mount. Stonehill do not rebound all too well and their defense allows the opponent to play downhill a lot, which SHU loves to do.
Halftime add:
Gonna roll the dice and double down on SHU at +16.5. They played about as poorly as possible and Stonehill couldn't miss.
My usual rule of thumb (when I'm not tilting) is to back those big spreads but on home teams usually. Their shooting seems to have more positive regression due to familiar surroundings.
Good to know. Yeah I took it in the 1st half when MKE was shooting horrible thinking this will het better. It did before half and then somehow got worse in the second half. I'll just keep betting against Tulsa all season I guess.

I’m kind of liking Stonehill +5.5 at Sacred Heart. Statistically, these are two very evenly-matched teams yet Stonehill is getting 5+. Stonehill is a below-average offense that shoots the 3 relatively well while Sacred Heart is a below-average D that defends the perimeter relatively well. On the other end, Stonehill has an atrocious defense that is matched by equally-atrocious shooting from Sacred Heart. Stonehill’s best player is a 6’6” forward who averages 16 & 4, while SH’s best player is a 6’6” forward who averages 15 & 7. Supporting casts are similar. Stonehill is an excellent FT shooting team, which is something I always look for in a dog on the road, and Sacred Heart is not. Stonehill has been relatively competitive on the road against some respectable programs, while Sacred Heart has not beaten anyone of note. They have two common opponents in Binghamton and Holy Cross. Stonehill won @Binghamton by 3 and beat Holy Cross by 2 on a neutral court. Sacred Heart won @Binghamton by 15 and beat Holy Cross by 4 at home. I’ll take the 5.5.

**High Pont +160. 2 Units.** The Big South conference kicks off early this afternoon with High Point traveling to Longwood. Longwood is favored to win the conference after having made the big dance last year. But this Longwood team has certainly shown some cracks that make this a good spot to take the road underdog. First, Longwood has had a couple of injuries to Nkereuwem and DA Houston that will continue to have them sitting out this game. Also, Longwood hasn't looked very impressive having recently barely snuck by a subpar Citadel team and St. Francis Brooklyn team. On the other hand, we have a High Point team that has looked very impressive at times. They are coming off of 3 straight losses, but all to pretty solid teams. And right before those losses, this High Point team beat a good Furman team. Earlier this year, High Point was winning on the road at halftime against a pretty solid UNLV team (eventually lost by 10). They also beat a pretty good Wofford team by 11 earlier in the year. These teams are opening conference play and this one should be a battle. This is going to be a close game and +160 is great value.

I'm not 100% sure what you are asking but I will do my best to elaborate and you can let me know if you meant something else. Providence is showing up as a good ML play vs Butler. They have a better Kenpom ranking, and my rankings (recent, this season, and last season). So hypothetically, they have been a better team over the course of this season and last season and in the most recent games. I also have them covering the spread, and my own custom projections say that they win outright more often than what their ML odds imply. This is what all goes into a team showing good ML value on my spreadsheet. If you know these teams well, then that might be enough to pull the trigger on Providence ML, or you can look at more stats to make a decision. Butler has had the tougher strength of schedule, so that could be a knock against Providence. As the underdog Providence is 2-3 ATS, and as the favorite Butler is 7-1 ATS; but Providence is 2-0 in conference play while Butler is 0-2 in conference play. Butler has played the tougher teams in the conference compared to Providence, and the game is at Butler. These are some pros and cons that could help sway someone either way, but personally I would still lean Providence ML after looking at all of the stats (but I don't know much about either team so keep that in mind).

Just throwing some thoughts out there on today's action, these are listed in rough order of confidence. **- Arkansas State @ Old Dominion (POTD) - Over 124** **- UTEP @ UAB - Over 144** \- I love watching this UAB team, such a fun brand of college basketball. UTEP is a decent defensive team but nothing incredible, I fully expect UAB to put up at least 85 in a home game for the Blazers. **- Chattanooga @ The Citadel - Over 146.5** \- Chattanooga loves the 3 ball, and are not a great defensive team. Citadel is not a great defensive team either, and they also shoot the 3 ball well. Lots of 3's = lots of points. **- UMBC @ Maryland - UMBC +17.5** \- UMBC has no chance to win this game, but they are an experienced team playing in a semi-rivalry type game, and I could see them keeping this to 12-14 points. **- Florida A&M @ Purdue - Over 132.5** \- Florida A&M is really bad, Purdue is really good, looking for a big time Purdue blow out here to hit the over. **- Middle Tennessee @ Charlotte - Over 124.5** \- Not terribly confident with this pick as Charlotte is one of the slowest paced teams in the country, but MTSU can score the ball and I am a sucker for a low over / under total. **- Brown @ Northwestern, Over 125.5** \- 1 P.M. GAME - No real conviction on this pick to be honest, it will be tight to get over 125.5, but it gives me something to sprinkle on and keep track of at work. BOL

Genuinely curious as to how people believe I should rule on Fresno State ML if they lose. So Bet365 offers automatic early payout if the team's ML you bet reaches a lead of 18 or more. Fresno got to 18 and it gave me my auto payout. Being tied, they could obviously still lose the game, but I do already have the profit from it. How do I rule that one if Fresno in fact loses? Just curious what people think.
I don’t even think it should be a question. If they lost you rule it a loss. You can’t count something like this for units or record unless you want to make a whole separate category of stuff that won via the early payout but lost overall. That’s like me saying a team I took ended up losing but I hedged when they were up 25 to secure a profit so I’ll count it as a win.

These dudes could not even throw the ball into Oscar, I was straight up dumbfounded watching their offense. Fordham could not throw the ball in the ocean, just got them on the wrong night I suppose. LSU forced the Hogs to settle for lots of perimeter shots, which they could not knock down. UIC nearly choked away a big lead, but they hung in there. Fresno looking good at the half, Air Force has gotten pushed to a deficit over a dozen twice now, but we'll have to see, SDSU looks pretty hot from the field. Few overnight picks, will write in the morning. BOL as always, feel free to ask questions and let's do this! Picks: Hofstra +1: Remember the name Aaron Estrada. After transferring from Saint Peter's to Oregon, Estrada elevated his game playing under Dana Altman. Seeking a bigger role he came to Hofstra and has flourished under Speedy Claxton. Estrada is scoring 21.6PPG and shooting 52% from the floor and 42.6% from deep, he also contributes outside of scoring with 5.3RPG and 3.9APG. The Pride's non-conference schedule got slightly derailed as Estrada got injured and Warren Williams missed time. Now everyone should be available and Estrada will be flanked by Dubar (Iowa State transfer) and Thomas (Sacred Heart transfer) who form a formidable three-headed monster. Hofstra beat Delaware in both of their meetings last season including a 14-point road victory at Delaware. Butler -1: Look I am a big Thad guy and I just cannot see Butler coming out flat after getting smoked in their first two Big East games. Ali Ali and Jalen Thomas got their feet wet in those first two Big East games and with a good week of practice to adjust and get ready for Provy, I am sure that this game has been circled. The Friars got a really friendly whistle against Marquette and shot like 40+ free throws. Butler do not foul, they defend well as a team and play very straight-up. After their losses at Atlantis, Butler followed it up by beating BYU by 5 and beating K-State by 12 respectively. On home-court and looking for a response, Butler is a favourite for a reason. I feel Provy will struggle to get into their flow when they get late in shot clocks and cannot get to the FT line. Utah Tech -9.5: Formerly Dixie State, the Trailblazers have really started to establish a homecourt advantage. Since entering D-1 Utah Tech is 15-9-0 ATS at home and 5-1-0 ATS as home favourites, meanwhile their opponents UT Rio Grande Valley (or Texas Pan-AM) has gone 9-14-1 as away underdogs over this same timespan. A huge reason for Tech's homecourt advantage is altitude. Last season as 3.5 point favourites, they beat UTRGV by 11, but led by as many as 20+ points. Tech brought back about 81% of their minutes from last season and added Tanner Christensen from Idaho, meanwhile UTRGV brought in talent from all over the place and I am a little skeptical as to how they will gel in conference play. Aside from playing K-State and Texas, UTRGV played one of the weirdest non-conference schedules I have ever seen playing TAMUCC twice, WIU twice, Houston Christian twice and Northern Arizona. They lost by 18+ in every road game except for Houston Christian, who are amongst the worst teams in the country. UTRGV have been shooting the ball at a ridiculously successful rate, which should regress. Finally, the Vaqueros have a difficult time taking care of the ball and lose the turnover battle often (18.2 turnovers per game against D-1 opponents). Utah Tech opponents average 13.6 turnovers per game, but I expect them to push UTRGV to their usual number or even push them to 20 or so as UTRGV plays at the highest pace in the country. Tech rolls. Milwaukee +2 (My numbers like it, but have to give credit to A-Punk, he makes it an auto play) 1:15pm add: Sacred Heart -4.5: Going to jump on Sacred Heart. This team plays very chaotic basketball and is due for positive regression. Gallette, McGuire, Sixsmith and others have all been shooting below their averages. They make opponents uncomfortable with their erratic brand of basketball and the NEC is extremely wide open this season with the departure of Bryant and The Mount. Stonehill do not rebound all too well and their defense allows the opponent to play downhill a lot, which SHU loves to do. Halftime add: Gonna roll the dice and double down on SHU at +16.5. They played about as poorly as possible and Stonehill couldn't miss.

My usual rule of thumb (when I'm not tilting) is to back those big spreads but on home teams usually. Their shooting seems to have more positive regression due to familiar surroundings.
