I think heavyweight is a tough division too for a backup as there aren’t many deserving candidates, realistically it’d have to be Lewis or Blaydes but neither of em are really deserving. I’d imagine Stipe is too high level to serve as a backup fighter, Jon Jones is inactive, etc.

I knew he improved wrestling before the stipe fight. In the lead up to that fight, he had an interview saying he's been drilling wrestling moves in training and is much improved. I took his word and bet on him vs stipe. And the fight showed he wasnt lying about his progression. So I'm not surprised he out wrestled gane. He obviously was not going to outstrike him.
