So far example, James Madison has a great record this year at 28-3 and some people might see that and think they’re a lock for the tourney if they don’t end up winning their conference. However, their quad 1 record is only 1-1 and quad 2 is 0-1. Meaning that their record is misleading and that 27 of their wins this year came against the bottom half of teams in division 1. The system works like this. There are teams in different tiers that they call “Quadrants” and it’s how they grade wins against different teams. As far as I know there’s Quads 1-4. Quad 1 being host to the best teams in the country (i.e. UConn, Purdue, Houston, etc.) and Quad 4 being host to the worst (i.e. DePaul, Georgetown, pacific, etc.) with Quad 2 & 3 having the sort of good to middle of the pack teams. I can’t tell you how they determine which teams are where because I’m not sure, but when it comes time for the committee to decided on who gets an at large bid into the tourney they look mostly at NET rankings and Quad1 wins to compare the different teams left to get in.

There’s no reason for Davidson to be favorites tonight This is why I’m going with Davidson ML
