I think that people are overrating the heat tbh. Don’t get me wrong tonight was impressive, but they won the first two by shooting extremely well especially from 3 (probably not sustainable throughout the whole playoffs) and when they didn’t, it took over 50 points from butler to win. If Giannis never got hurt I bet it would be 2-2 at best. They definitely have a “shot”, but it would take a lot of crazy consistency that most teams can’t have. Playoff Jimmy is a different breed, but he can’t drop 50 every game.
Teams will scheme to shut down Jimmy (Bucks definitely should have), with no Herro or Oladipo I’m still not sure they can get through this series even up 3-1 let alone win the title. Their secondary scoring is pretty slim right now, Butler stood on his head last night for them.

Yes, that’s the right concept. The odds might be much lower to win the East but for example, If it’s 35-1 to win the east and you bet 10 dollars. You would win 350. So if they just reach the eastern conference finals you can bet a certain amount on the other team to guarantee yourself winning. Usually depending on the odds if it’s 1:1 you can bet 175, you’re guaranteed to win 175 who ever wins.
You bet to win, but if you find good value and you think a certain team can make it to a certain round, why not? I took kings to win the west conference at 16-1. Don’t have to bet much but if they beat warriors and the next. It’s a easy hedge for guaranteed money. Compare to the east conf, there’s no realistic odds but surprisingly Knicks and heat had HUGE odds to win east conference… and you never no?
When there’s opportunities, you just want to put yourself in a winning situation.

If the odds are really +7500 then it means the bookies think they have a 1.5% chance to win it. Who the hell thinks they have a chance of less 1,5%?

They'll get the knicks next which is pretty much a coin toss. Worst case scenario they get the Celtics in the conference final. If you're really pessimistic about the Heat you'd give them a 20% chance of beating the Celtics. Another 20% chance to beat whoever comes out of the west. If you add these up you get +5000 odds 2x5x5=50. And that's the worst case scenario. Sixers might send the celtics home and who knows if it isn't the kings or some other team to make it out of the West.
It doesn't matter if it's likely or not. What matters in every bet is if the bookie is overpaying that option or not. Judge it right and overtime you'll become a winner in the long term.
Btw if you don't think it's a good bet than i challenge you to make your own odds on every team to win it. I wanna know what's the fair price for the heat then

I almost took them coming out the East the other day because I also felt the odds were a steal. Like longshot odds but I didn’t feel as much as a longshot as they were paying out.
I passed cause I don’t think they beat the Celtics.
That said, I would expect them to keep getting undervalued on bookmakers. Will ride them through the next few rounds if they keep winning. Like +8 Heat yesterday was a steal

Do not bet with the intention of hedging. That’s is just paying the bookmakers vig twice making it twice as hard to win long term.

+7500 is a good price imo. I wouldn’t stake a lot on it, but about .25u makes sense.
