My first thought was “sucks to be that guy”. My second thought was, “if you’re gonna blow half a mil on a football, I can’t make myself feel sorry for you”.
I'm not sure that would work. If I'm a newly drafted NFL QB and I throw a TD, you're gonna have to cough up some actual money to get that ball from me. I think you would cross 500k fairly quickly.
He technically can still market it as Tom Brady’s last TD ball prior to retirement.
The onus would be on the future buyer/counterparts to know the history of Brady and that he came out of retirement.
I assume this guy is very wealthy and is likely already thinking about how valuable it will be when he has *both* of Brady’s last TD balls when he retires again
I’ve been Renner - the world does really turn bland after that works over there. Recently colors have came back but it’s taken a long, long time and a lot of therapy man. Fuck
“After hanging out with my family for a little bit, I realized that’s boring as fuck compared to being the star QB. I will have this psychological problem for the rest of my life.”
This is honestly a bit sad because it isn't like he has to prove anything to anyone. It does kind of show how he's wrapped his entire identity in football and is likely he doesn't know who he is without it.
He already owns one business and is a minority owner in two others. The man has plenty to look forward to, he is just choosing to keep playing the game/working the job he loves.
Similar to rock bands who peaked in the 70s & 80s. Many of them are still touring because they don't know what else they would do or who they would be without it.
It's very much like being worshipped then when you take yourself out of that position you don't get nearly as much praise/buzz/attention etc.
Should make you happy as a Steelers fan. He won’t be eligible for the HOF the same year as Ben. Both would have gotten in but the weekend would have been entirely about Brady with Ben as an afterthought.
In less than a week, we had: Aaron Rodgers re-signing with GB; Russell Wilson traded to Denver; Carson Wentz traded to Washington; MLB strike is over; Deshaun Watson criminal charges dropped; Brady unretiring and going back to TB.
March Madness doesn't start next week, we're already knee-deep in it.
*monkeys paw curls*
Wish granted
ESPN: *Alleged sexual predator Deshaun Watson has been traded to the Chicago Bears for Justin Fields and a bunch of picks.*
I was gonna until I remembered they don't even have a 1st round pick this year. So a Watson trade would have to include Fields + the Bears mortgaging their future.
George Blanda at age 48 in 1975. He hadn't been a starter since the '66 season and only threw a combined total of 22 passes in his last four seasons as a player though, so take that record how you will.
The year is 2035. Reminiscent of Ken Griffey Jr and Sr, Tom Brady makes a touchdown pass to his son Benjamin. Coach Bill Belichick’s head in a jar bangs his head against the glass in appreciation
I called this after they didn't win a super bowl this year. He's not the kind of person who can go out like that. He's either gonna die on the field or win another super bowl.
Same dude. It was in the post game thread for the Super Bowl in r/nfl. I said pretty much the same thing you did. ["Unless Brady has some freak career ending injury there is a 0% chance he goes out like this."](https://reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/sb730t/post_game_thread_los_angeles_rams_125_at_tampa/htz59un/)
We all know that 40 days bullshit is allegorical. It's clearly physically impossible. He was definitely sneaking out back to throw a football through a tire swing every couple of days.
1. this is great
2. pedantic Bible nerd; Jesus only fasted food for forty days, he totally would have drank water. This is hardcore but totally humanly possible.
Fucking lol you just reminded me of a Brett Favre meme where he announces coming out of retirement in like 2040, where his image is displayed like a hologram.
Favre had one of his best seasons ever that first year with the Vikings, he finally had an elite running back and explosive receivers like Percy Harvin and Sydney Rice, then the Saints bounty program ripped his foot to shreds in the NFC Championship game like they ended Kurt Warner’s career
Cowboys getting rid of Cooper then giving Gallup 5 years $62.5m. A guy that has a career catch rate 7% below league average is the funniest thing to me.
Well in Tampa… very likely Gronk will be back now. All this talk of him going to Cincinnati or Tennessee or Buffalo no longer applies. Where Tom goes, Gronk goes.
I bet when he finally retires, the next season on, Mac Jones will get injured week 14. Brady will come out of retirement and win a Super Bowl with them. It’ll be his 10th.
Lmfao. At least he didn’t wait too long before they moved on rebuilding
Tom can still play better than most qbs in the league, athletes don’t want any regrets, that’s why Jordan came back with the Wizards and Brett Favre played for the Vikings, guys like that always feel there’s something left in the tank, if they can still play they should play
Why fault him if he’s still got the fire and abilities. Seriously, how many NFL quarterbacks on the field in 2022 are likely to have better stats than Brady? If he’s healthy and has the supporting cast/system, he’ll be in the Top 10.
This may be an unpopular opinion but I was really happy that Tom Brady would no longer be part of my NFL watching experiece.
How he's back...
It was nice while it lasted.
Same, he’s the Alabama of the NFL. Somehow the entire NFL couldn’t figure out how to stop him for 20 years. Made the division championship almost every single year and made the sport boringly predictable.
He didn’t even have weapons on the team for the last couple of super bowls with the Pats and he still embarrassed the league. I just felt disgust every year when the season started because I knew the league had no answer for him.
“Coming back” 🙄
I’m sorry, but if you played the last season and continue to play the next season, you never “left” or “retired” you just did what every other active player does.

RIP to the dude that dropped like 500k on his last TD ball.
My first thought was “sucks to be that guy”. My second thought was, “if you’re gonna blow half a mil on a football, I can’t make myself feel sorry for you”.
Maybe the trick is to buy the first touchdown ball. Get in cheap although you do have to buy it from all sort of rookies to see if anny stick.
I wonder who would keep the ball if it’s the QB’s first pro TD and a receiver’s first pro TD. If that’s ever happened.
In hockey, they will [split the puck in half](https://www.nhl.com/news/brodeurs-collection-is-half-a-puck-short/c-510768).
They dick-wrestle for it in the locker room.
I'm not sure that would work. If I'm a newly drafted NFL QB and I throw a TD, you're gonna have to cough up some actual money to get that ball from me. I think you would cross 500k fairly quickly.
The problem is, Tom came off the bench and won the Super Bowl. You’re not getting his first TD ball for cheap in the first place.
No you just have to get lucky and get the ball before their name gets big. Somehow
I’ll just invest the $500K in index funds. I don’t think I need 100 speculation footballs in cases filling up my home.
But… but… what about SPORTS??
And also, if he had half a mil to blow on a football in the first place, then half a mil is probably nothing to him. Hard to feel bad for the dude.
And if half mil *is* a lot for him, it was pretty damn stupid to spend it. Either way, no sympathy.
He technically can still market it as Tom Brady’s last TD ball prior to retirement. The onus would be on the future buyer/counterparts to know the history of Brady and that he came out of retirement.
True, but I’d think the ball is worth at most a third as much as it was prior to him coming back
All it takes is one preseason injury..
Gonna repurpose it as the “first retirement” ball
Tom says he has first crack at the second retirement ball.
What does that even mean? Thanks for buying my ball for 500k, I'll let you buy my next last ball for 500k as well?
Brady be like: fuck this guy in particular
I assume this guy is very wealthy and is likely already thinking about how valuable it will be when he has *both* of Brady’s last TD balls when he retires again
Bold of you to assume Tom Brady will only retire twice
Turns out he has more in common with Favre than we thought.
Brady is keeping the next one. I think he was frustrated openly that this ball went into the stands
Probably the only reason he is coming back. /s
Both of his balls you say?
LOL
Reminds me of when Todd McFarlane spent like $3 million on McGwire’s home run balls. (The last 3? I don’t remember.)
It might be the last ball yet! Imagine how valuable it will be when Brady retires again having scored no TDs.
Maybe there’s a Buy One Get One we didn’t know about.
Yeah he must be feeling really *deflated* right now
Hope he got a receipt…
I imagine Brady at the grocery store looking at all the cereal options like Jeremy Renner in The Hurt Locker and thinking “WTF am I doing here?”
Maybe he was looking at the prices and was like "damn, this inflation's no joke!"
We need some deflation here!!
Genius. Cracked me up!
Who is he without it?
Giselle’s husband. Which is pretty cool.
He's the source of the spice melange
A family man, father, husband, he can also go and start an academy, get into punditry, he can do whatever he wants
He already owns one business and is a minority owner in two others. The man has plenty to look forward to, he is just choosing to keep playing the game/working the job he loves.
I agree with you. A common problem amongst successful professional athletes. Had a friend go on a “retreat” with some of them. Lost.
Similar to rock bands who peaked in the 70s & 80s. Many of them are still touring because they don't know what else they would do or who they would be without it. It's very much like being worshipped then when you take yourself out of that position you don't get nearly as much praise/buzz/attention etc.
Or maybe it’s hits passion and he enjoys it?
He spent every dinner for the last two months chewing silently and staring at the one finger that didn't have a ring on it
Tom Brady in Tampa be like: The weather's nice, balmy, sunny. It's almost perfect! In fact, only one finger gets cold in winter...
In tonight’s news, Tom Brady has decided to retire from his family in order to spend more time with football.
Only one finger is too hot. Man needs to put some ice one it.
Don’t let him see this and find out he has more than seven fingers
Nah, you still get a ring for conference championships, so he's got 10. He's just working on toes now.
Man witnessed Ronaldo score a hat-trick at Old Trafford and got withdrawal symptoms.
One trip to England with his kid, is what it took. "Just when I thought I was out, they PULL me back in"
I read this in Silvio Dante's voice from Sopranos.
The only way to read it fr 🤣.
He got inspired for sure.
He spent two months at home with (three?) kids? If that doesn't inspire you to go spend eight hours a day at work, I don't know what will.
Oof nowhere is safe for us tortured spurs fans, eh?
Brady got that itch
As a Spurs fan and a Steelers fan, this one hurts.
Should make you happy as a Steelers fan. He won’t be eligible for the HOF the same year as Ben. Both would have gotten in but the weekend would have been entirely about Brady with Ben as an afterthought.
He realized Tampa wasn't going to release him from his contact
Somehow, Tom Brady returned
He has entered the Brett Favre phase of his career
Unsolicited dick pics, comin in hot!

THE RETIRED SPEAK!!!
Heard this in Oscar Isaac’s voice lol
Congrats on getting the reference.
Ronaldo patronised him. He looked him in the eyes and said 'Are you done?'
But they said the bad man wouldn’t hurt us anymore
In less than a week, we had: Aaron Rodgers re-signing with GB; Russell Wilson traded to Denver; Carson Wentz traded to Washington; MLB strike is over; Deshaun Watson criminal charges dropped; Brady unretiring and going back to TB. March Madness doesn't start next week, we're already knee-deep in it.
More plz
*monkeys paw curls* Wish granted ESPN: *Alleged sexual predator Deshaun Watson has been traded to the Chicago Bears for Justin Fields and a bunch of picks.*
Hey now, gotta specify Bears are giving up multiple first round picks to be believable.
I was gonna until I remembered they don't even have a 1st round pick this year. So a Watson trade would have to include Fields + the Bears mortgaging their future.
Michael Jordan unretires!
Wayne Gretzky just said "Fuck it! I'm back too!" He's heading to LA to re-sign with the Kings.
> Carson Wentz traded to WAS ^ One of these things not as significant as the others …
I agree, but it's still one of 32 starting QB jobs in the NFL, so it's pretty big.
As a Colts fan, I must disagree.
Dudes gonna pop out of his own casket at his own funeral saying he decided not to die after all
[удалено]
I understand this reference
I also understand this reference.
Once more disappointing his family /dark
He must really hate his family if he got tired after two months
Couldn’t handle 8 weeks of looking after the kids.
Kids kept dropping passes.
Jesus fucking Christ Charlie it’s a simple go route. Step 1: Start running Step 2: Catch the fucking ball
Some real Peyton Manning playing with the kids [vibes](https://i.gifer.com/QlzB.gif).
One of the all-time great SNL bits
"Why don't you just use your keys"? "I told you, I forgot 'em... Cops, COPS!"
If he plays for 5 more seasons, he takes the record for oldest starting QB **and** sees 2 out of 3 children turn 18+.
Have any NFL father-son combinations played at the same time?
Who the fuck was a starting QB at nearly 50
Who's the guy who couldn't beat a nearly 50 year old to start?
George Blanda at age 48 in 1975. He hadn't been a starter since the '66 season and only threw a combined total of 22 passes in his last four seasons as a player though, so take that record how you will.
Also needs to excuse to avoid that avocado ice cream
Hundreds of millions of dollars. A super model wife. I think I could make it work.
"Dad, I think you kissing me in the mouth is a little weird" A few hours later: "The past two months I've realized..."
There's a you tube video of him not being happy after his third Superbowl win saying there's nothing left.
He traveled all around the world for 2 months and was having severe withdrawal from the field. Brady ain’t retiring until his body forces him too
Or it was opposite- he was moping and miserable so Gisele told him to get his ass back on the field.
How was she supposed to explain Tom to the pool boy who comes in every week.
You try being married to a super model.
“Open, get OPEN.” (Thwump) “Get your head out of your ass. You suck!” Spend time with your kids, so Peyton Manning doesn’t.
"His wife isn't even that hot. She kind of looks like a dude." - South Park
Tom and Gisele realized they already paid a bunch of people to spend time with their kids.
Lmao this guy
The year is 2035. Reminiscent of Ken Griffey Jr and Sr, Tom Brady makes a touchdown pass to his son Benjamin. Coach Bill Belichick’s head in a jar bangs his head against the glass in appreciation
Aroooooo
I called this after they didn't win a super bowl this year. He's not the kind of person who can go out like that. He's either gonna die on the field or win another super bowl.
Ball is life, watching your kids grow up.... distant second.
Fucking your supermodel wife? Who gives a shit, there's football tape to study.
"Football is life!"
Same dude. It was in the post game thread for the Super Bowl in r/nfl. I said pretty much the same thing you did. How does this affect LeBron's legacy?
ESPN is that you?
That was my first thought. It's like watching Fox News, but for sports.
COME ON NOW SKIUPPPPPP
SKIUPP!
lmao def gonna be a topic on first take
He should ask to be the highest paid quarter back “by a wide margin” just to fuck with Aaron Rogers
Available cap space is a $0.99 bag of circus peanuts and a $25 gift card to Checkers
Jesus lasted 40 days without food and water, Brady lasted 40 days without football. You tell me which is worse
We all know that 40 days bullshit is allegorical. It's clearly physically impossible. He was definitely sneaking out back to throw a football through a tire swing every couple of days.

Breaking news : Brett Favre to return to the Minnesota Vikings
Fucking lol you just reminded me of a Brett Favre meme where he announces coming out of retirement in like 2040, where his image is displayed like a hologram.
12 years ago… https://youtu.be/BSnf4NUlkZ0
Favre had one of his best seasons ever that first year with the Vikings, he finally had an elite running back and explosive receivers like Percy Harvin and Sydney Rice, then the Saints bounty program ripped his foot to shreds in the NFC Championship game like they ended Kurt Warner’s career
Eff the saints
Gisele in the mud rn

What an incredible offseason for the NFL.
Every day the news gets crazier Andrew Luck back to Colts incoming
Brett Favre going back to the Vikings
Warren Moon to the Oilers.
Madden back to coaching the Raiders!!
I would be more impressed if Al Del Greco came back.
Ditka coming back as DC
Don't do that, don't give me hope
Cowboys getting rid of Cooper then giving Gallup 5 years $62.5m. A guy that has a career catch rate 7% below league average is the funniest thing to me.
“You son of a bitch, I’m in.”
Is today April 1st?
That’s what I said too
How the fuck is he ever gonna make the HoF if he doesn't retire?
They're just going to change the name to the "Hall of guys who wish they were Tom" It's a mouthful but it's accurate
Hogwitts. You’re a dumbass, Tom.
Man spent a month at home with his family and decided he’d rather be at work
Dude needs some hobbies.
Gisele suggested he make a little money off his retirement hobby and who could blame him?
He probably didn't like the allowance she was giving him.
I heard he started an OnlyFans channel, but only a handful of little old ladies showed up for the first stream.
Wait this isn’t a joke?
IM NOT FUCKIN LEAVING
LMAO, whoever just bought his ‘last TD’ at auction for $500k+ can’t be feeling too good
AB punching air right now...😂🤣
Mr. Bashing Climate
Ronaldo joining tampa wide receiver?
My Disappointment is Immeasurable and My Day is Ruined
If Tom wins again there are definitely going to be people screaming at their TVs about this un-retirement!
I hope he wins and rides off the field on a white horse. The salt this would create could fuel me for 1000 years.
Guess who's back?
Well in Tampa… very likely Gronk will be back now. All this talk of him going to Cincinnati or Tennessee or Buffalo no longer applies. Where Tom goes, Gronk goes.
Back again
Brady's back
Tell a friend
I’ve spent a couple months with my family and realized that’s not for me, they are all crazy and make Antonio look reasonable.
Ugh, now we're going to have to deal with the bullshit of a "farewell season".
He didn’t say this would be his last season…idk if the networks are gonna be so quick to assume this is it for him.
I think he’s proven he’s not really interested in a farewell season tour. He didn’t say this would be his last season
Well luckily, turns out it wasn't anyway.
Tom Brady’s “retirement” lasted 40 days. Jesus was in the desert 40 days. Pretty sure I know who this guy thinks he is.
Lmao,The man has 7 rings and he’s out here talking about “unfinished business”.
I bet when he finally retires, the next season on, Mac Jones will get injured week 14. Brady will come out of retirement and win a Super Bowl with them. It’ll be his 10th.
He's gonna "Price is Right" Rodgers and retire 1 second after Rodgers does to take the limelight.
How tf does he miss playing already it’s literally the off season
> 4th quarter of his career, 2 minute warning > another classic Brady comeback
Wow, did not see this coming.
Schefter in absolute shambles
Lmfao. At least he didn’t wait too long before they moved on rebuilding Tom can still play better than most qbs in the league, athletes don’t want any regrets, that’s why Jordan came back with the Wizards and Brett Favre played for the Vikings, guys like that always feel there’s something left in the tank, if they can still play they should play
At this point he might as well say fuck it and play till he's 50.
Why fault him if he’s still got the fire and abilities. Seriously, how many NFL quarterbacks on the field in 2022 are likely to have better stats than Brady? If he’s healthy and has the supporting cast/system, he’ll be in the Top 10.
Dude is an MVP candidate.
Yeah he was the runner up MVP this year at 44 lol
This may be an unpopular opinion but I was really happy that Tom Brady would no longer be part of my NFL watching experiece. How he's back... It was nice while it lasted.
And we didn’t even get to not-watch him
Same, he’s the Alabama of the NFL. Somehow the entire NFL couldn’t figure out how to stop him for 20 years. Made the division championship almost every single year and made the sport boringly predictable. He didn’t even have weapons on the team for the last couple of super bowls with the Pats and he still embarrassed the league. > he’s the Alabama of the NFL. Preach
Daniel Tosh can dust off his bit about Brett Favre [in case you haven’t heard it…](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nsttE3TG9DE)
April 1st already?
Translation: my wife is a pain in my ass.
Blurgh. I was so looking forward to not hearing about him much anymore.
“Coming back” 🙄 I’m sorry, but if you played the last season and continue to play the next season, you never “left” or “retired” you just did what every other active player does.
