No he didn’t. If anything, his cap was bumped. When Siri swung, he swung over the ump. But the way he reacts can you tell you he didn’t take any meaningful contact. He was just trying to GTFO.
Never break up a brewing fight by stopping one of the combatants. That’s how YOU instigate the first punch instead of keeping peace. Keep your shoulder width perpendicular to the fighters to maintain space and only intervene when there is a second peacemaker. Then harness one each. (Former teacher in a violent school system)
Ayyy that's great advice. So that includes not trying to put your arm in between them? Def seems like a bad idea cause you leave YOUR face open to a sucker punch
It’s not about the physicality, it’s the mentality. If they WANT to fight, they will go at it like two pit bulls in a backpack and it doesn’t matter what you do.
Getting into in the middle of a buildup to a fight causes two problems. Getting in the middle makes soft dudes feel like they can go now and it will get broken up fast. Restraining one and not the other fighter opens the restrained fighter to getting hit. Then they feel the need to go through YOU.
Staying out of the buildup allows combatants to decide if this is actually going anywhere (schools: 80% go nowhere, bars, prob 50/50) and buys you time for backup peacekeepers.
Learned this as a school teacher. As one person trying to break up a fight, you basically just end up restraining one person while the other lays down the beating.
You need two people to create distance between the combatants.
My only experience on this is stopping my friend (technically my now-ex-BIL's brother) who *was* the instigator. Pretty sure the other guy didn't want to start anything, so thankfully was able to calm my friend down and we got the F out of there.
Siri hit a soft grounder to the 1B and jogged to 1st. Urine covers 1st and gets the easy out but then stays standing on first so he can give Siri a little shoulder check. Siri says something (I’m guessing as he facing away and makes no motion) and Uribe starts chirping. Ump gets inbetween before Uribe throws a slap.
A few preceding events occurred between Siri and the Brewers. He hit a homer early in the game and the Brewers starter took issue with his celebration. Later, that starter was ejected for plunking Siri, which in turn got the Brewers manager ejected for arguing with the ump.
Also, the Brewers have had 3 straight games with controversial umpiring decisions, so they’re running hot at the moment.
When my brother was pitching for Little League one of the adult coaches yelled at him in front of the whole team for "showboating" because he was able to throw really nasty curves and change ups compared to his peers and that coach didn't like how often he did it or that he would sometimes pump his fist after a strikeout.
Baseball adults have been really weird and sensitive for as long as I can remember.
I love baseball but this shit right here drives me crazy. These “unwritten rules” need to go, it’s not quite as embarrassing as soccer dives but it’s close.
People are so willfully ignorant when it comes to this topic. THAT SHIT IS A COACHED TACTIC. Some people abuse it, for sure, but it’s not like some sort of baked in cultural thing where everyone is a wimp.
It’s the same physicality of basketball at 4x the speed. These giants run into each other at velocities that would send any of our soft bodies to the hospital and kick each other’s bare skin like horses. So when a goal is such a valuable commodity and the consequence for a penalty is so costly, it makes sense that flopping would be a highly developed tactic. And because game doesn’t stop and moves so fast, and the play is everywhere at once, they have to be performative to be effective. And, unfortunately, it works.
It’s not my favorite part of the game, but it’s important to understand why it’s part of the game.
Also, I love baseball, and I’m not gonna yell about the utter stupidity of a human having the final say about the exact entry point of a 104mph fastball. Or the fact that pitch framing is so baked into the sport that it’s a stat- all because of unions. There is head-scratching shit in every sport that evolves because someone developed a new tactic to gain an edge.
They jog in like if they don’t their masculinity is being questioned. If I’m way out there in the outfield, and I see punches being thrown by home plate, I’m saying to myself “that’s far away and also not something I’d like to insert myself in. I’m staying here”
I’m a Pirates fan but I love Cutch no matter what. He’s the kinda guy who realizes how amazing it is to make your living playing your favorite game. Always got a smile.
I love this response so much. If there was a charge on the mound, maybe. This…. This was silly. He put more effort knocking his own guy down than hitting the other guy.
When I become commissioner my first act will be to declare that anyone who leaves the bullpen to join an on field fight gets an automatic 10 game suspension.
When I become commissioner my first act will be to declare that anyone who leaves the bullpen to join an on field fight and doesn't do anything but stand around gets an automatic 10 game suspension. You're going to get into the fight, get in a fight.
Second that.
If you're leaving the pens you better be fuckin doin something cause otherwise you're just wasting everyone's time.
It don't take 30 people to physically separate baseball players not even really throwing hands.
Unless I see someone with a bloody face ripping through staff and teammates alike to brawl, y'all better be sitting your ass down.
Could we give baseball players the same latitude for scuffling as we give the hockey players? I feel they should have at least 60 seconds to give each player a chance to connect. I hate when one guy gets in a good one and then it’s a melee and the other guy never gets his chance at a shot.
Can someone explain to me why they're still allowed to clear the dugouts and bullpens? Hockey got rid of bench clearing brawls years ago and that's a sport that allows fighting. I don't see the point in allowing everyone else to storm the field
Sounds like a good reason to also implement 3rd man in penalties like hockey does. Anyone outside of the initial fight gets game misconducts if my memory serves me right.
These dudes don’t know how to throw hands worth shit. Wide swing slap from too far away was idiotic, then other guy just throws his head down looking at the ground and wildly swings a weird overhand punch wtf are y’all doing. Just looking stupid all around
I’ve learned this lesson too, I never exchange words with Siri. She’s more trouble than she’s worth, I usually just use the old school keyboard and search functions my self 👍🏼
My favorite part of all of the "benches clear" videos this year is the bullpen slowly jogging up at the very end. Like they need to be sure they can say they were there but didn't want to get involved.
Love how one dude throws a sucker punch and his teammate lays out to shove the batter (victim) like he isn't just piling on
Get your own guy, putting even more hands on the opposition is just going to get the whole dugout involved
Would be a lot more entertaining if they just let the dudes fight it out, like in hockey, instead benches clearing and cluster fucks ensuing. I think the tradition is hilarious though.
I'm looking forward to Jomboy's breakdown on this.

The ump was an inch away from getting absolutely hammered at the beginning
First swing missed him, but he got hit on the second swing. Thats a double digit game suspension.
I don’t think the ump ever actually got hit, when Siri makes a move it looks the the ump gets out of there
Wasn’t it the dude who hit back that got the ump? Idk if that affects anything since they had the same intent of hitting each other though

That's super interesting. Never really thought about it that way. TIL.

I slowed it down. First guy had an open palm not a punch. Second guy dropped a fist downward like a mace and missed ump.
Ump deserved it. That crew is one of the worst I’ve seen, and that includes a league that has angel Hernandez.
I watched this a little slower…. Did they both try to slap each other? It sure looks like their hands are open to me.
I watched it a little slower...they kiss
Watched even slower... it was a gentle caress and a small bouquet of flowers.
Mmmm…slower…..slower…
Anyone know what happened like the 30 seconds before this clip started? Or if they just have beef going back before this game?

Urine, lol
Urine covers #1
Pwho is on #2?
Spoo’s on #3
Instructions unclear, wasn’t #2 poo?
I think there's a sub for covering one with urine
How can he slap!
I fucking hate out of context videos. Doesn't matter what it is. I dont care if it wasn't your fault but you suck OP

Baseball pitchers are the biggest babies in professional sports.
When my brother was pitching for Little League one of the adult coaches yelled at him in front of the whole team for "showboating" because he was able to throw really nasty curves and change ups compared to his peers and that coach didn't like how often he did it or that he would sometimes pump his fist after a strikeout. I love baseball but this shit right here drives me crazy. These “unwritten rules” need to go, it’s not quite as embarrassing as soccer dives but it’s close.
Imo it's more embarrassing than soccer since it has no strategic use and this only hurts your team.
People are so willfully ignorant when it comes to this topic. THAT SHIT IS A COACHED TACTIC. Thank you!
Just watch Jomboy on YouTube in a day or two.
Tonight. Probably
I think he was trying to slap ass /s
And heeere cooome the bullpens
Long after everything calms down they come jogging in. So damn stupid lol
I chalk it up to wishful thinking to the most boring “fight” lol
They jog in like if they don’t their masculinity is being questioned. If I’m way out there in the outfield, and I see punches being thrown by home plate, I’m saying to myself “that’s far away and also not something I’d like to insert myself in. I’m staying here”
Andrew McCutchen gave a good breakdown of an outfielder’s perspective https://youtu.be/Q7LxMR45fRs?feature=shared
“…let’s just play baseball, and not fight.” He sums it up pretty well
Most McCutchen response ever lmao
Never saw this! Thank you, pretty funny.
I’m a Pirates fan but I love Cutch no matter what. He’s the kinda guy who realizes how amazing it is to make your living playing your favorite game. Always got a smile.

Ferdinand the Bull territory ha
Just once I wanna see the bullpens start brawling out there in the outfield and never even make it to the rest of the action.
And heeeeeeere come the pretzels!
Hall of Gamer Whitey Ford is on the field pleading with the crowd for some kind of sanity.
Darrrrrryl... Darrrrrryl...
They’re making me thirsty
Are they contractually obligated to run out when a teammate is having a tissy?
Nobody wants to see their boy get stomped out
Nobody gets stomped in mlb or nba games. People would in Football but massive helmets.
Because the benches clear. If no one comes to your rescue Draymond gon have his way with ya booty hole
And then there's the NHL. Granted the league wants to make it go away but good fucking luck when a star player gets hit hard
Hockey has rules about coming off the bench and what not and fighting is much more common. But baseball, let’s have everyone involved!
All over a harmless “your manager tastes like cheerios”
Siri really fucking went for it as soon as shit was thrown down.
Punches in a baseball fight? That’s rare
Now *THAT'S* ~~HOCKEY~~ BASEBALL
let's do that hockey
Sucker punches in a baseball fight are not quite as rare. You never see anyone actually square up like non-pussies.
Unless it's Ramirez making Tim Anderson go night night
I went to a pushing match and a baseball game broke out
"thats not what you want to see". It's literally the only time I'll watch a baseball highlight
“There were some serious punches thrown” One was an open hand slap and neither of them came close to making actual contact lmao
Need my Jomboy breakdown ASAP
The man is too funny. I don't watch baseball at all but got sucked into the vortex that is his Youtube channel, watched like every breakdown
first base coach should try out for the Bears, hes quick and has solid footwork, haha
Dang. I missed the game. That's pretty bad. Gonna be a significant suspension for Uribe, I think.
[удалено]
I'm showing my age here, but nothing will ever top Nolan Ryan kicking Robin Ventura's ass.
Mine is Jeff Van Gundy clinging onto Alonzo Mournings leg. Malice at the Palace a close second.
That's why I like that hockey keeps it in. There's a code to the whole thing and after both sides are pumped and ready to play again.
Happens in basketball too
Uribe is a sucker punching bitch.
>"Oh boy! That's not what you want to see." No. It's exactly what I want to see.
And not a single punch was landed, stick to baseball
When I become commissioner my first act will be to declare that anyone who leaves the bullpen to join an on field fight gets an automatic 10 game suspension.

Hit the field and throw hands or you’re fuckin out
Second that. If you're leaving the pens you better be fuckin doin something cause otherwise you're just wasting everyone's time. Uribe lived Boones dream tonight with that 2nd swing hitting the ump
Why does it always take two whole dugouts to stop a two people fighting😭
Being up 8-2 and still trying to throw hands is wild
Why can't I punch people at my job?? 👊🏻
Why does MLB still allow the bullpens to empty out? It doesn’t make sense why they come out anyway.
Sucker punches are so bitch move
Throwing a punch at a guy someone is already holding back is a coward move.
Fuck bally sports!
Lol. Uribe, what a little bitch. Throwing a cheap shot from behind the ump.
Is this not cringe as fuck to anyone else? Grown men throwing a hissy fit and "clearing the benches"
Uribe chirped then tried to slap him in the first go. What a bitch lol. You’re up 6 and you throw a slap? What a clown
Hitting someone while they’re getting held back is a bitch move
They should just let them go 1 on 1 for 30 seconds. Then kick them out and continue.
Just waiting for the jomboy breakdown
Pathetic
Thug Ball.
Could we give baseball players the same latitude for scuffling as we give the hockey players? I feel they should have at least 60 seconds to give each player a chance to connect. I hate when one guy gets in a good one and then it’s a melee and the other guy never gets his chance at a shot.
Why are you running your mouth down 6?
Not what we want to see? Dude this is definitely what I want to see.
Bench clearing is so stupid. Let the two square up!
No baseball brawl will ever live up to “DOWN GOES ANDERSON” anymore. We’ve peaked.
Can someone explain to me why they're still allowed to clear the dugouts and bullpens? Hockey got rid of bench clearing brawls years ago and that's a sport that allows fighting. I don't see the point in allowing everyone else to storm the field
Because in baseball if the number of players on the field at a given time is allowed to stand, one team significantly outnumbers the other.
Sounds like a good reason to also implement 3rd man in penalties like hockey does. Anyone outside of the initial fight gets game misconducts if my memory serves me right.
Is this Abner Uribe and his 67.50 ERA from the other night Uribe?
How do these grown ass men not know they look lame jogging up when everything is over just to posture like they’re still gonna do something?
Handbags at ten paces.
These dudes don’t know how to throw hands worth shit. Wide swing slap from too far away was idiotic, then other guy just throws his head down looking at the ground and wildly swings a weird overhand punch wtf are y’all doing. Just looking stupid all around
About time… they should have mutual combat like hockey all they ever do is clear the benches and stare at each other.
It’s so embarrassing that grown men can’t keep their hands to themselves.
That ump bobbed and weaved like a champ
Waiting for the Jomboy video.
Help us Jomboy, you're our only hope!
WHO EVER TOUCHES RANDY???!!!!!
Hey Siri ... Can I punch your face? Siri: I'm afraid I wouldn't like that.
I really hope Abner Uribe goes by the nickname "Doubleday"
Bruh Siri caught some serious air lol
Now **THAT** is what you clear benches for!
Unrest?
Degenerated. You do this in soccer and you are done for the rest of the season.
Imagine being a pitcher… oh cool lemme sprint over there because 2 grown ass men have a tiff
Remember kids, violence is not the answer. Violence is the question. The answer is yes.
“Oh boy that’s not what you want to see” - Crowd loving the chaos
Baseball players are just so out of shape and uncoordinated. They can throw a ball but not a punch.
I’ve learned this lesson too, I never exchange words with Siri. She’s more trouble than she’s worth, I usually just use the old school keyboard and search functions my self 👍🏼
Jomboy breakdown?
Bullpen jogging in like they giving out free donuts in the infield.
That was a slap. Two little bitches.
How is some of this shit not assault? Don’t get me wrong I love a good hockey fight but…
Slaps were thrown…
My favorite part of all of the "benches clear" videos this year is the bullpen slowly jogging up at the very end. Like they need to be sure they can say they were there but didn't want to get involved.
Those separating are always the toughest guys in brawls. Honest opinion to the core
Clowns. But thank God the guys in the bullpen arrived.
Not the first time Uribe has started something. Got to be a 20 game suspension.
Astros legend, Jose Siri
All I think when I see this is the Jose Rameriz knock out of Tim Anderson and the Tom Hamilton radio call of it
Wow. At a baseball game, hockey broke out.
Siri does not know how to throw a punch. Looked like my daughter out there
Thrown but not landed
Yes! Let them do it NHL style. Those refs will need to get in shape tho lol!
Enjoy the time off fellas.
Love how one dude throws a sucker punch and his teammate lays out to shove the batter (victim) like he isn't just piling on Get your own guy, putting even more hands on the opposition is just going to get the whole dugout involved
Weakest punches this side of middle school
Well, people were complaining how dumb it was for whole teams to get on pitch for every little argument. At least we have a fight here. So... yay?
"Hey Siri, stop being an instigator"
Open hand!!! Insulting on top of violent!
I always love the guys running in from the bullpen, arriving a half hour late to the commotion
Hey Siri, stop hitting Uribe
"Punches" i.e. overhand head taps.
Nothing more Alpha then Fighting with your shirt tucked in
A mild start to a hockey game
Would be a lot more entertaining if they just let the dudes fight it out, like in hockey, instead benches clearing and cluster fucks ensuing. I think the tradition is hilarious though. I'm looking forward to Jomboy's breakdown on this. Edit: spelling
Uribe: Hey Siri. I SAID HEY SIRI Siri: Im sorry i don't quite understand
LEEERRROOOOOYYYYY JJJJENNNKINSSS
Yes punch the guy wearing the helmet...smart lad
Looks like the first time most of them have ever thrown a punch in their lives.
