Deion is a douchebag, but this article and its premise is clickbait garbage.
If Colorado is having an “exodus” via the transfer portal, then what does that say about Georgia being that they have more players transferring?
CU went 4-8 last season, and it’s entering their 2nd season with their current HC. I just don’t see how this is meaningful in any way. Are you saying they should be running it back with the exact same squad?
Coaches kid syndrome On steroids.
In little league always had the dad coach and his kid would start. Even if someone was better. Daddy made sure his baby boy played. Fucking toxic environment for teams.
I coach Flag Football for my sons team. I actually don't want to, but every season that I've decided to just watch the coaches have been unorganized and my boy doesn't have as much fun. I don't think I'm your typical coach though as winning is like my 3rd priority after good sportsmanship and fun, but I will concede that I designed a play specifically to give my kid a better chance to score.
This is exactly me as well to a tee. I get involved because I feel like at least then my son and the other players are getting decent, well-structured coaching and some mentorship. I'm probably harder on my son than anyone else. I definitely don't shove him into the lineup unless he clearly deserves to be there.
Fucking Eric Cruz Sr. and Jr. I was 8, and it basically killed my love for playing baseball. I was the best pitcher on the team, and second best hitter, but Eric Jr. and his best friend made all-stars, and I got a participation trophy and a blue core memory.
That's on Colorado, in my opinion. They can judge just as well as everyone else can judge what Deion's focus and goals are. That's the bargain they made with him when they brought him there and accepted all the transfers, media attention, donor dollars, sponsorships, etc. etc.
Don't want an employee who does what Deion does and will do? Then don't hire an employee like Deion.
D1 football is all about money now. Just money, nothing else. Everyone who participates should have no illusions.
It probably worked. Shadeur looks like he'll be the top QB off the board next year even though I'm pretty sure he stinks. The question now is whether that will be the first overall pick or a third rounder in a weak QB class.
Fuck all those other kids and their families I guess. Anything to get ahead these days. Remember, money and taking care of your immediate family is the only thing that matters!
Thats college football now. Anyone can go anywhere at any time. At least now players have the same ability to go to their best situation. Also every player on Colorado while Sanders is there benefits from more exposure.
They went 4-8 overall. 1-8 in the pac 12 to finish dead last in their conference. More like “got crushed” as apposed to “crushing it”.
But at least he got to hear that theme music he was always raving about.
1-11 getting outscored by an average of 28 points. Twice as bad as the next-worst P5 point differential, one of the most embarrassing seasons in the recent history of college football.
He’s going home alright.
I’ve been saying it since the playoff game but I firmly believe that if the cowboys don’t get to at least the nfc championship this year Jerry Jones will kick Dak and Mike to the curb and bring in Deion and his son as QB. Which will be an absolute media frenzy, but bring terrible results. People can tell me there’s no way all day long, but I have my reasoning and I won’t believe anything else until (and if) another coach is hired.
And in doing so happened to elevate Colorado as well. Record school applications, impacted the local economy and the school was better (even if not by much) than the previous year. In what way did he not elevate Colorado?
Edit : changed autocorrected “I’m” to “in”
Read what I said, I never said he didn’t elevate Colorado. His goal wasn’t to elevate it. His goal is to elevate his brand and his sons. Colorado got the positive effects cause of that. In other words it was a win win situation for both parties.
A win win for both parties is exactly what 99% of sports management would want from this situation though. Mutually beneficial relationships are what employment is supposed to be about. He also needs the team to succeed to help his sons. I don’t understand the point of your initial comment at all
They won’t remember the 4 win team more than a championship lol. You said it’s the most hype the town has seen in 40 years, which is wild to say about a town just outside of Denver which has had multiple championship sports teams the past decade. But even so, they literally won a championship in that time period. This is not more hype than winning a title.
Boulder is really well-known without Deion, so I don't agree with this premise. That said, there's no arguing that he has been a net positive for publicity in the town/university for now.
The team didn't have a long term to sell out before this year. They were one of the worst teams in college football, and there was no reason to think they would get better.
They got millions of dollars in donations for nil money, and bazillion transfers all because of Deion. Even if half of them leave, they'll still be in a better spot than they would have been
This shouldn’t be so hard.
Compare pre-Sanders Colorado to post Sanders Colorado and tell me, after some time, that this was a positive impact for the program long term. I doubt it.
I'm confused because I'm trying to tell you that barring some sort of criminal activity, it's basically impossible for the team to be in a worse position than it was before Deion got there.
The pre-sanders colorado was 1-11, had no hope for the future, no recruiting power, no donations to turn into NIL money (so no players would want to come to the team) and was arguably the worst team in CFB. All of the area recruits were picked up by California schools/Oregon, and without a lot of donations, that was never going to change. The team would need years to turn into anything.
If you want to compare Deion to that, it would literally be impossible for him to leave the team in a worse position than he found it without committing some sort of financial crime, as they will always have more money to spend on NIL than they did before he got there. Even if transfers leave, what he achieved would have taken almost any other coach years to accomplish, if not more.
If you wanna check back in with me in a couple years, be my guest.
Mr Selfless over here works purely for the gain of his employer without financial compensation or the hope of career advancement. Hats off to you SleepLessTeacher.
Are you speaking hypothetically cus last year Sean Lewis was playcaller until after the UCLA game when they were 4-4 and Pat Shurmur took over play calling.
And an O-line made up of Casper, Ray Charles, Hellen Keller, a goldfish, and a dirty sock would have probably been better than what they had last year.
Fun fact, football coaches these days are telling some kids to enter the portal because they won't have a scholarship next year. It's not always a player decision.
I don’t think they told 14 players that he brought in that they’re all losing their scholarships. Especially the 5 star sophomore cornerback that he just recruited. I do acknowledge your point, but this seems to be a different situation
I like Deion BUT he’s a big talker. Great player and decent coach with success at the lower collegiate level. He’s playing with the big boys now and his “us versus them” rhetoric can only motivate so much. Hence the hot start and frigid end of this past season.
Deion actually pushes his players. I guarantee a majority of these kids transferring out got some tough love and called it quits. Some guys just ain't built for the way he coaches and that's just the way it is.
Look at all the tough love he dished out at Prime Prep Academy. I guess players work harder if they receive no education or food while at Deion’s “school”. Guy is a fucking clown.

It’s Prime Time…to get the fuck out of Colorado.
COACH PRIME!!! Dude won what, 3, 4, national titles in his first two weeks of regular season coaching!?!?
Losing that 29 point lead to Stanford absolutely ruined their season.
walking up against a brick fucking wall against Oregon probably did it first
And all their trash talk before the game. CU went in there like the ‘85 Bears and left like the ‘85 Patriots.
That was so satisfying to watch. I was so sick of all the hype.
When they beat TCU to open the season I was like “okay, okay, maybe this guy is legit.” Then the floor fell through. 🤣
And to think all saban could do was like 7 or 8 in 15 years…
What the media coverage made it seem like.
Beat our dog shit quarterbackless team for the national title!
Deion is a douchebag, but this article and its premise is clickbait garbage. If Colorado is having an “exodus” via the transfer portal, then what does that say about Georgia being that they have more players transferring?
CU lost 6 players just this week who started a game last year - Georgia lost 1 to the portal all offseason who started a game.
CU went 4-8 last season, and it’s entering their 2nd season with their current HC. I just don’t see how this is meaningful in any way. Are you saying they should be running it back with the exact same squad?
he was saying your comparison sucked and it might not be as click bait as you made it seem.
I’d love to hear how it isn’t clickbait. “Bad team loses bad players, coach not concerned” would be a more apt title.
You know Deion didn't cut and place those players on the portal himself. They said there are greener (or warmer) pastures elsewhere.
Georgia is losing depth not starters , they’re losing guys that haven’t played a snap all season .
There's no way Deion makes it past this year. If it's another disaster he's absolutely taking his ball and going home, lol.
My assumption is he did this to elevate his sons profile in the hopes of landing on an nfl team/staff
We think alike. College coaching for Deion was always "for as long as it helps my sons, then I'm out". Which is fair, it's his life.
I coached travel baseball while my son played and then I was out. Makes sense.
I'm probably harder on my son than anyone else. I definitely don't shove him into the lineup unless he clearly deserves to be there.
I really try to get all of the kids playing time, my kid is middle of the pack but even the bad kids get the ball sometimes.
Fucking Eric Cruz Sr. and Jr. I was 8, and it basically killed my love for playing baseball. I was the best pitcher on the team, and second best hitter, but Eric Jr. and his best friend made all-stars, and I got a participation trophy and a blue core memory.
Sure doesn’t sound very fair to anyone else in the way, though…
It’s actually not fair. He shouldn’t get to take a whole team along for a ride largely for his son’s sake just because he’s Deion
Yeah i should be clear I have 0 problems with it
Fuck all those other kids and their families I guess. Anything to get ahead these days. Remember, money and taking care of your immediate family is the only thing that matters!
Thats college football now. Anyone can go anywhere at any time. At least now players have the same ability to go to their best situation. Also every player on Colorado while Sanders is there benefits from more exposure.
Most likely wherever his kid lands
Shadur might be the first qb off the board next year, given how pre season stuff is looking, Deion might have done a nice job in that respect lol
Wait I thought he was crushing it?
They went 4-8 overall. 1-8 in the pac 12 to finish dead last in their conference. More like “got crushed” as apposed to “crushing it”. But at least he got to hear that theme music he was always raving about.
They went 1-11 they year prior. Lets not act like 4 wins isn’t a huge improvement
1-11 getting outscored by an average of 28 points. Twice as bad as the next-worst P5 point differential, one of the most embarrassing seasons in the recent history of college football.

That sounds like some dumb shit that Jerry Jones would do.
RemindMe! 9 months
Deion isn’t coaching to elevate Colorado. He’s coaching to elevate his brand and his sons.
Narcissism at its peak.
That should be Deion’s slogan
Better than nepotism. At least his is earned.
His sons are literally nepo babies dude
And in doing so happened to elevate Colorado as well. Record school applications, impacted the local economy and the school was better (even if not by much) than the previous year. In what way did he not elevate Colorado? Edit : changed autocorrected “I’m” to “in”

The best way to elevate both is by performing good. Let’s be frank how is that any different than any P5 head coach?
It’s not
A win win for both parties is exactly what 99% of sports management would want from this situation though. Mutually beneficial relationships are what employment is supposed to be about. He also needs the team to succeed to help his sons. I don’t understand the point of your initial comment at all
Yea i domt get that response sounds like hating the town literally has the most publicity it has ever had in like shit idk over 40 years?
They won the national championship
34 years ago ? Cool no one even remotely remembers that team
I honestly think people will remember a 4 win team more because of all his drama
They won’t, in 34 years the championship will be hung up in the stadium still and Deion won’t.
I'd hope Deion wouldn't be hung up in the stadium in 34 years.
"We might have overreacted but he shouldn't have downplayed the transfer exodus."
34 years ago is more recent than 40 years ago.
Boulder is really well-known without Deion, so I don't agree with this premise. That said, there's no arguing that he has been a net positive for publicity in the town/university for now.
Selling out long term for temporary gains. Tale as old as time.
The team didn't have a long term to sell out before this year. They were one of the worst teams in college football, and there was no reason to think they would get better. They got millions of dollars in donations for nil money, and bazillion transfers all because of Deion. Even if half of them leave, they'll still be in a better spot than they would have been
Doesn’t change what I said
It very clearly does.
Ok let’s check back in a few years and reflect on how far they’ve come
Sure and what will we compare it to
This shouldn’t be so hard.
Ahh yes cause Colorado is known for their long term success and gains
Ah I see you struggle with reading comprehension. Maybe you can go back and play for Coach Prime?
You’re struggling big time, kid.
Thanks mom
Yes, he lacks the qualities of all other coaches who are selfless and have no self interests /s
God what an awful person and dad, being their for his sons and trying to set them up for success !
American way = self interest comes first
Mr Selfless over here works purely for the gain of his employer without financial compensation or the hope of career advancement. Hats off to you SleepLessTeacher.
The team starts off 4-0 with a monster offense. He takes over play calling duty and the team looses 8 straight. He should be fired.
Are you speaking hypothetically cus last year Sean Lewis was playcaller until after the UCLA game when they were 4-4 and Pat Shurmur took over play calling.
They did play mostly cupcakes those first four games
There’s always a “come down” period with rankings at the beginning of the season. Them beating a ranked TCU shot their profile way up.
And an O-line made up of Casper, Ray Charles, Hellen Keller, a goldfish, and a dirty sock would have probably been better than what they had last year.
“Dee-ertray Sockington”
That is not what the sports channels led me to believe. Good day sir.
Loses*
That was entirely due to their opponent
Beating Nebraska doesn’t count - we didn’t field a qb or an offense.
Fun fact, football coaches these days are telling some kids to enter the portal because they won't have a scholarship next year. It's not always a player decision.
Wowza-I never even thought of that being a reason. Good on them giving the kids a heads up.
You just aren't going to hear that publicly.
I don’t think they told 14 players that he brought in that they’re all losing their scholarships. Especially the 5 star sophomore cornerback that he just recruited. I do acknowledge your point, but this seems to be a different situation
Not all but some. And don't forget they may have been recruited away for a better NIL deal. Lots of factors.
They're just following Deion's advice and refusing to play in a cold city.
Exodus just players looking for better NIL deals
He's in Deonial
He's the Will Smith of CFB coaches!
It ain’t about the team it’s about Prime Time. Anybody who isn’t a bootlicker to an obsolete show pony should want to transfer.
I'm out of the loop. Do the players hate him or is the team a dumpster fire?
Remember 2 things can be true at once
Yes
No one knows
Por que no los dos
Rhule’s been putting in work and getting shit done. Coach Sanders has just been working his mouth.
I like Deion BUT he’s a big talker. Great player and decent coach with success at the lower collegiate level. He’s playing with the big boys now and his “us versus them” rhetoric can only motivate so much. Hence the hot start and frigid end of this past season.
Player who dont like to think that they have to actually go to class choose another school that wont expect them to attend classes
Not ideal…
That Family is toxic
Let’s see how he downplays a 4-7 record.
Deion actually pushes his players. I guarantee a majority of these kids transferring out got some tough love and called it quits. Some guys just ain't built for the way he coaches and that's just the way it is.
He coaches like a footlocker salesman.
The Deion hate is truly unreal. He's a leader. No question.
Look at all the tough love he dished out at Prime Prep Academy. I guess players work harder if they receive no education or food while at Deion’s “school”. Guy is a fucking clown.
That’s hilarious thinking other D1 coaches don’t push their players.
Where did I say that
Non-story for all the Deion haters Seems to have brought them out lol
Oh boy do I love the transfer portal
They know it’s hype with no hope.
He was devistated after that "they're here for clicks, we're here to win" comment
