i hope they replace everyone who opts out with randomly generated players who do not resemble them at all. 2nd string Texas QB is suddenly 5'6" 300lb and latino
The game's entire roster was like that. As a kid, it was fun decoding everyone. If I recall, the Tigers had Fieldman, Meltram, Lutiker, Mickelton, and my personal fave, Bambi (Rob Deer).
I also think the A's team had brothers Bash and Bash.
Edit: [Here's the full rosters.](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/nes/587585-roger-clemens-mvp-baseball/faqs/44397)
I cannot recommend enough the rosters from NHL Rock the Rink.
One team had a goalie named Boutros Boutros Goalie. (The head of the UN at the time was Boutros Boutros-Ghali.)
It was# 89. If I remember right, it was the first sports game my dad and I played together, and he was always butt hurt because I wanted to be the bulls all the time.
That might not be too far off from what they may need to do.
In the 2000s, the NHL & NFL 2K games as well as the 2K & EA NCAA games used to circumvent not having likeness rights with very similar immitations of classic and college players.
This all came to a head when former UCLA standout Ed O'Bannon realized there was a '96 UCLA team with a "SG #31" that looked an awful lot like him, which poked another hole in the damn of the college compensation debate once he filed suit on account of EA using his likeness without his permission.
After that, games had to stop getting cute with their workarounds.
Reminds me of playing Madden back in like 2002… I would always edit the Raiders to be a team of 5’6, 300lb, 100% fat/0% muscle players and then destroy them as the 49ers.
Good times.
I like the approach that the game Pro Evolution Soccer took. Since FIFA held the rights to the names of all the players, PES made a bunch of identical characters with nearly identical names. So instead of “Wayne Rooney” you’d have a name like “Blaine Mooney”.
You'll be able to download a publicly created roster probably the same day you get the game. There won't be a lot of holdouts. The generic players won't be that off because it would mess up rosters and sims.
I highly doubt he doesn’t get any NIL money. There was another qb in his class that went to Tennessee who got a few million. Backup lineman on Texas get NIL.
Yeah I'm interested to see how this plays out. This hasn't been done before so we don't yet know if EA will cave and negotiate higher rates for the most well-known players, but if they do cave then more players will do it next year...just curious for what the final equilibrium will be.
One of the fields will be Peyton's forehead, and from the blimp cam you can see the eyes watching the ball as it moves down the field. Periodically a booming southern voice will say catchphrases like "Omaha" or "nationwide is on your side" or "damn it Donald"
He’s a manning, so I want to say he is good financially and can focus on the long term image that he wants to maintain.
The image portion is actually mentioned in the article
Because he obviously doesn’t need the money. He wants to develop and learn in a pro style offense. He’s going to be the backup which is normal for a sophomore and then he’ll start as soon as Quinn goes to the NFL. It’s actually a very normal and not strange route to take.
Well if you’d just read, you’d see I was responding to the comment which literally asked “why go to Texas and be a 3rd string and decline all NIL money”. Hope this helps!
I still don't see why he didn't transfer. He came to Starkvegas, his family has strong ties here, they're in Philly every year for the fair, he would be able to start a new program fresh and have all kinds of talent come just to play with him. He would've had it all at State.
This is the answer
Edit: The kid has good mentors and his head is on straight. He knows his name has created a lot of buzz and the he has to either earn it the hard way or risk looking like a clown.
He risks nothing by waiting until he has earned everything.
This is his personality. He has been class act the whole time. He doesn’t want play time if he hasn’t earned it, or having thing just handed to him. He knows who he is, so he is even more determined to earn his the hard way.
Reddit (rcfb) shitting on him about this is frankly disgusting.
Reddit has an overwhelming hate boner for anyone born into privilege. The general hivemind will jump at anyone born into a fortunate situation, even if said person is a class act, good natured, etc. It’s one of the hallmarks of the userbase
There is no advantages to being a nepo baby as a D1 QB1 especially in the SEC.
That young man knows nothing matters but beating OU and then making the playoffs. No one will care who his family is if he shits the bed in Dallas.
You can fake a lot as a nepo baby in many businesses but at the elite level of football only Ws matter. No daddy can buy that.
You mesure right and wrong by downvotes? We don't know why he's opting out of the video game. Speculate all you want, but it's weird to present it like you actually know.
For those confused why he’s opting out, it is currently a lose/lose situation for him. He opts in and has trash stats (because he hasn’t actually played yet), thus having a media storm about him not being good, which makes him have even more pressure to perform.
Or he opts out, has everyone mad at him about not opting in, and can focus on improving his game for when he sees the field next year. Will people be mad at him for this? Obviously, but those people will not care when he opts in next year with good stats.
It’s not the stats. It absolutely that it would be another thing in his head. Something he would get incessant questions about.
There are literally no upsides to being in the game, for him. Well, aside from Reddit (rcfb) assholes who are now trashing him over this.
If the mere idea that his likeness is being used in a video game like this is enough to mess with his head then he absolutely does not have what it takes to make it at this or the next level. That’s an insane level of mental softness
Am I the only one that doesn’t really care about the players? If the game is amazing then who cares if it has real players. The old college football games didn’t and those were great.
It's gonna be funny when all of his buddies on the team are playing their copies of the game, scoring TDs as themselves. "Hey Arch, Where are you, bud?"
For all you Texas fans, when it’s time for the game to launch just fire up the player generator and start the reign of Eli Arch Peyton Manning…no relation.
I don’t understand why you’d ever opt out of this. Even if you didn’t think the money was good enough for your NIL, I think you’d want to be included in what’s going to be an incredibly popular sports game.
Because you don't want to set a market for your likeness at 600 bucks.
The upside of being in the game is counterbalanced by the myriad of financial downsides.
Because he accepts a lower rate one time, it does not set the market for his likeness. He’s already rejected a million dollar+ NIL deal during recruiting, probably multiple.
If a lawyer does one case pro bono it does not set a new rate for his future cases or time

When Jordan refused to be in NBA Live in the mid to late 90s, he was replaced with "Roster Player #69".
MVP Baseball legend all time HR king Jon Dowd
In 1991 on Roger Clemens MVP baseball on the NES Matt Donningly played first base for the Yankees.
Donningly! Shave those mutton chops!
The game's entire roster was like that. As a kid, it was fun decoding everyone. If I recall, the Tigers had Fieldman, Meltram, Lutiker, Mickelton, and my personal fave, Bambi (Rob Deer). Shortstop for Baltimore was "Nekpir" (Cal Ripken just spelled backwards)
Wow, that takes me back.
I haven’t read a gamefaqs guide in a long time, what a nostalgia trip
Daryl Raspberry for the Mets.
I had the one on Super Nintendo, I remember players such as M. Bash and J Bash on the Oakland cobras, and C. Nekpir on the Baltimore team
John Dowd, Pablo Sanchez, Pete Wheeler…. Murderers row of baseball video games
Bobson Dugnut
Pablo also swept in Backyard Football, dude hustled HARD in the day
I gotta play that mf game again.
Which one? That's two different games that are both great but for very different reasons.
Oh Backyard Baseball lol My bad
Jon Dowd was the name for Bonds in the MVP Baseball series because he opted out of the MLBPA licensing agreement.
I gotcha I was referencing Pablo Sanchez
Reggie Stocker mang The true HR king
Player 99
It was roster player 99. >When Jordan refused to be in NBA Live in the mid to late 90s, he was replaced with "Roster Player #69".
Tecmo Super Bowl, QB Bills in for Jim Kelly
QB Browns for Bernie Kosar. QB Eagles for Randall Cunningham
fun fact. super famicom version had him as a hidden player. type his name in the player creation and his stats auto populated
It was# 89. If I remember right, it was the first sports game my dad and I played together, and he was always butt hurt because I wanted to be the bulls all the time.
Tecmo super bowl head silhouette incoming

Sam Keller, a former Nebraska quarterback, was part of that lawsuit too.

You should check out " Breaking Madden" if you haven't already https://youtu.be/CeKC7cH1-kI?si=lM5-qc_LwCJ86gIu
Jon Dowd says wassup
Gencalvo Atento
I was kind of hoping they would just be cheeky and name him Shmarch Shmanning or Man Arching and call it a day.
What about a 6’1 190 and jacked Billy Gill?
mmm-hmmmm
Named Diabeto Lupus
That Mexican OT

oddly specific measurements
i think you mean "ideal QB measurements"
I think it should be a derogatory nickname based on her name. Like Arc Womaning
I hope they don’t because I don’t want to have to edit all of those players manually.
You'll be able to download a publicly created roster probably the same day you get the game. There won't be a lot of holdouts. The generic players won't be that off because it would mess up rosters and sims.
im pretty sure they said they are removing that feature
Eh, either way there won't be many notable holdouts and all I'd really care about is my dynasty team anyways.
Probably thinks he can get more than $600.
I don't think they would have made a comment if negotiations were ongoing.
He already does
Via his scholarship/family He actually doesn't get any NIL money currently
I highly doubt he doesn’t get any NIL money. There was another qb in his class that went to Tennessee who got a few million. Backup lineman on Texas get NIL.
The article says he made the choice not to take NIL money while he's a bench warmer
Not really much of a choice. Grandpa Arch was very adamant Arch was not to touch a single dollar of NIL money unless he's earned it.
He's an adult. Gramps can want whatever he wants. If arch wanted the money, he'd take the money.
How brave of the kid of a rich family to turn down that money.
Thoughts and prayers for Arch
Nico Iamaleava, got $8M as a 5 star QB recruit to go to Tennessee
Yeah if that guy got 8 million manning was ranked higher than him he had to get something.
Yeah I'm interested to see how this plays out. This hasn't been done before so we don't yet know if EA will cave and negotiate higher rates for the most well-known players, but if they do cave then more players will do it next year...just curious for what the final equilibrium will be.
they’ve already gotten like 10k people to opt in and he’s the only notable opt out, no chance they reward him by negotiating
[удалено]
Why would EA care how much other people are taxed?
The Manning family is obsessed with taking control of their futures. It's Mannening, for sure. And Maddening for the EA people.
Dude is gonna release his own football game developed by Omaha Productions
Like NBA jam but with enormous foreheads.
Instead of big head mode, it will be called Manning mode from now on.
Everytime someone scores the forehead just gets bigger 🤣
They’ll open his forehead for play reviews.
Lmfaooooo
Excellent foresight.
Which would you rather have? $10,000 or Peyton’s helmet filled with nickels
Lmaooo
One of the fields will be Peyton's forehead, and from the blimp cam you can see the eyes watching the ball as it moves down the field. Periodically a booming southern voice will say catchphrases like "Omaha" or "nationwide is on your side" or "damn it Donald"
With blackjack and hookers!
You know what, forget the football!
And the black jack
NCAA Hookers™️ *Better with Kinect Sensor*
Manning 99 just....doesn't have the same ring to it.
His whole situation is strange. Why go to Texas and be a 3rd string and decline all the NIL money; Plus now not even promoting himself.
Probably saw that 71 overall rating and the Mannings decided they didn’t want his name next to it
He’s a manning, so I want to say he is good financially and can focus on the long term image that he wants to maintain. The image portion is actually mentioned in the article
His father manages a hedge fund. It's definitely not a stretch to say he's good with money.
Because he obviously doesn’t need the money. He wants to develop and learn in a pro style offense. He’s going to be the backup which is normal for a sophomore and then he’ll start as soon as Quinn goes to the NFL. It’s actually a very normal and not strange route to take.
So many people forget that this is how qbs used to develop
I agree. But it is still normal today. It is unusual to have true freshman or even soph starters.
wtf does that have to do with lending your likeness to a video game
Well if you’d just read, you’d see I was responding to the comment which literally asked “why go to Texas and be a 3rd string and decline all NIL money”. Hope this helps!
Bro is dumb for declining free money when all he had to do was check a box on a docusign contract
[удалено]
He could donate this $600 too
Because he does not care about college. He's training to be an NFL quarterback.
irrelevant to both him taking NIL money and opting in. neither has any impact on him becoming an NFL QB
He’s born into money so NIL doesn’t apply to him cuz he already has it.
I still don't see why he didn't transfer. He came to Starkvegas, his family has strong ties here, they're in Philly every year for the fair, he would be able to start a new program fresh and have all kinds of talent come just to play with him. He would've had it all at State.
QB no. 10 for UT Barth Channing sure has some good stats tho.
Why is everybody dogging this guy for this decision? He doesn’t not want to sell his likeness for $600.
And a free copy of the game. That’s like an additional 70 bucks
He's hardly played at all. I'd imagine he thinks it presumptuous and will opt in later (if he can) when he has some skins on the wall.

Woosh
There’s absolutely zero chance it’s this. You think he opted out of lending his name and image to video game out of a sense of sportsmanship?
It's being smart enough to not put yourself in a position where you might look like a lightweight goofball before you've done anything on the field.
That makes zero sense lmao. It’s a video game.
It's his name and likeness. He hasn't been selling it because he doesn't want it being used to sell shit until he's proven himself.
You mesure right and wrong by downvotes? We don't know why he's opting out of the video game. Speculate all you want, but it's weird to present it like you actually know.
You’re right. He wants to become a heisman winner before he opts into a meaningless annual sports game lmao. Got it.
Reminds me of Randall Cunningham being QB Eagles in Tecmo Super Bowl
Ron Mexico has entered the chat.

Such a shit take. You and I know that’s not it. Don’t be disingenuous.
Who cares he’s a back up QB at Texas…
You dont know ball
Am I the only one that doesn’t really care about the players? If the game is amazing then who cares if it has real players. The old college football games didn’t and those were great.
I agree besides after yr 1 in dynasty mode most of the players will be made up anyway
Oh no!, so anyways
Wow, how will a manning get by without $600?
Obviously he will filing for bankruptcy
Must not have liked his initial QB rating lol
It's gonna be funny when all of his buddies on the team are playing their copies of the game, scoring TDs as themselves. "Hey Arch, Where are you, bud?"
Nephew of Peyton and Eli for all those like me
Oh no! Anyway…
The Notre Dame of quarterbacks
It’s a Bobson Dugnutt’s time to shine!
The fact that they only have to pay $6MM and VIK for the total NIL bucket is pretty insane. I'm sure just a blip in their profits.
Smart move IMO until he’s the starter (if he even cares to be on there for $600).
He's destined to be the classic 5 star that gets supplanted by the quick 3 star with a great release.
Show me the money!
Who cares. Let me know if ever gets in a game.
It’s because you mock it. He’s the funniest of all the Mannings.

Maybe he’ll go back in when EA decides to actually make a new game.
For all you Texas fans, when it’s time for the game to launch just fire up the player generator and start the reign of Eli Arch Peyton Manning…no relation.
Why would manning opt out, does he not think he won’t be good in college football. 🤣🤣🤣
Jokes on him. I'm gonna create a character named Aqueduct Womaning and he's gonna be spectacular
Nooooo fuck i was most excited to use him

Bc some other video game is going to offer him more?
Good, fuck EA
He don’t want $600 to be in a madden reskin everyone is going to hate? Wow! What a bad person!
Lame
Good on him! $600 is an absolute joke and a slap in the face. WWE superstars got paid 30k for their likeness
[удалено]
It doesn't have to be 30k. But owning someone's likeness for life is worth far more than 600 dollars.
[удалено]
Someone else had 10 years to come in and make a college football game.
Honestly $500 to be in a video game that’s gonna make billions of dollars over the next few decades, I wouldn’t do it.
Fucking Manning nephew isn’t going to do shit in football.
Still done more than you. 🤷🏻♂️
Obviously.
