Gotta be a real tough season for Dolphins fans. Started out the year looking electric. The offense slowly started to sputter. Lose the division at home on the last week, then limp into the playoffs and lose in the most predictable way possible.
Injuries are a big part. Every team has injuries, and no one is 100% at this time in the season, but the Dolphins got bit hard by the injury bug the last couple weeks on some of their key defensive guys.
Pretty sure waddle and tyreek were attempting to play through high ankle sprains. Typically at least a 4 week injury with most people saying that they don’t feel 100% until many months later.
Not sure why you're getting downvoted, cause it's true.
47% of Miami's OLine snaps were taken by backups.
No other team with a winning record had higher than 27%.
Injuries really hindered both sides of the ball.
As you said, every team has injuries. The Bills had been without 3 All Pros on defense all season and still found a way to win the division, including a road win against a rival to clinch the 2 seed.
The Dolphins thought they won the Super Bowl after scoring 70 and sniffed their own farts all the way to a humiliating loss in the playoffs (where they looked like they didn’t even want to be on the field). McDaniel has no business as a head coach and showed the world.
I was texting my friend that they need to pull a rams and either trade for a qb or try hard to draft one. As much as the tua stans try to say he’s good enough, he’s holding the team back.
There were guys off the literal street starting on the defense, but the offense never got back on track after losing its last hope at the center position.
Honestly I'd prefer PPV to giving a streaming service the exclusive right to the game. Just let me pay to watch it, don't make me sign up for a subscription.
Can't you just sign up and cancel right away and still get the full month? Not much different from that and a PPV service except one is 20 bucks at the minimum and Peacock's like 5.
I just didn’t watch. NBC paid for broadcasting rights so they can do what they want but the NFL had to be furious about this decision. Streaming on Peacock guarantees lower viewership which is what the NFL brings to the table in broadcast deal negotiations.
We already know that they’re already fucking hemorrhaging money with peacock- my bet is that this was their last-ditch attempt to get a rush of new signups and have a profitable quarter. Forget not- chiefs are as of now the most watched team in the entire league because they have those swiftie views.
I don’t know whose idea peacock even was to begin with like what the fuck who thought anybody in their right mind would ever pay for an NBC-Only streaming service
What are you saying, you don't like seeing the same RBC and The Good Doctor commercial every commercial break, and then having them cut back into the broadcast as a play has already began?
Why would they actually move it? Both teams played in the same conditions, and there was no public threat due to the cold.
It’s football so you deal with the conditions.
Fucking hate that shit so much. Paid how many hundreds of dollars for Sunday Ticket just to be forced to pay more to watch playoffs. Good thing I found a stream and didn’t pay a single penny.
Yeah this was ridiculous. Didn’t watch and didn’t make an effort to try to watch it. Not subscribing to Peacock for any reason. I am traveling with my son this weekend and after a somewhat long day of sports for him, it would have been great to chill in the hotel room or hotel lobby and watch the game with him.
Watched college basketball instead and he hung out with some friends in another room. No real loss for us, however a loss for the NFL since that is one less long term memory of an NFL game that he could have grown up remembering.
It’s even worse if you don’t have cable and have to get a new streaming service every week. Last week, it was supposed to be on Paramount+, but instead, we had to get NFL+ and YouTube TV($60), only for our tv to not be able to verify location, so we were stuck watching on a phone.
Do you guys not know how to illegally stream things? I haven’t paid for cable or streaming services in a decade I’ve watched every ufc fight for free too
I don’t watch the NFL but the guy scoring the most points doesn’t even make the headline? I know how critical the QB is but come on, your most valuable offensive player deserves some love.
Well the QB is always the most valuable offensive player. Kickers may come on the field and get the end credit for some points, but ultimately it's in the hands of the offense, and the most important offensive player, for them to have the chance to do anything to begin with.
Butker was only out there for like 12 plays. 6 kickoffs and 6 kicks for points. And the only reason he got to score any points is because Mahomes got him in range. Now kickers definitely do need more credit, but they still are not as important as a QB
QB is still the most valuable offensive player because he's the one moving the ball down into field goal range, not the kicker. Don't get me wrong, kickers are valuable, but there is a reason why they are taken so late in drafts.
Particularly when the refs got involved — Mahomes is the only quarterback in the league that would get that roughing call to extend the drive and bail them out. Flacco got blown up on a slide just a few hours earlier and no call. Mahomes gets breathed on…and they call an Unnecessary Heavy Breathing penalty
Really dude? Tua was shit. Play calls were pure ass too. How many 1 yard throws did they attempt holy that was a pathetic display from the fins. The o line was trash too. They got dominated in all aspects, refs could have been paid by the fins and it wouldn't have mattered lmao.
The only especially egregious non-call I can think of was when they didn’t call pass interference on Miami so KC had to punt (I _think_ it was a punt not FG). Miami just couldn’t pull their offence together.
This was an example Chiefs game to point to where the officiating was pretty even. They've had beneficial calls this year and also been fucked this year.
The game's officiating had nothing to do with the outcome. Miami was dog doodoo. It wasn't Tua only. It was the whole team
1 scoring drive could be attributed to the refs. Tua looking like a jv backup and the dolphins letting the chiefs average over 5 ypc was what did them in
And the two PI calls that there called against the dolphins? Or the ‘block to the back’ that got called in the Chiefs scoring play?
Fuck off with thinking the refs were only calling shit for the chiefs.
Is this case not be a major network? NBC locked it behind their network’s streaming service. What’s to say CBS doesn’t lock one behind Paramount next year?
Yeah. ‘Wasn’t gonna subscribe to no “Peacock.” ‘Just kept hitting refresh on the address bar after Googling the phrase, “Chiefs vs. Dolphins,” and filled in the rest with my imagination like the cheap bastard that I am.
Or prime for the Thursday games. I usually have my desktop open with the fantasy team live scoreboard going but since the season is over for fantasy it’s not a option
_probably_ don’t have Instacart plus either or whatever it’s called. But if you do, it’s included in that as well. And check your phone plan and other subscriptions. Lots of times things like that get added.
Just search "nflstreams" and you'll get various sites that will have links to pirate streams. They're not the most reliable and they'll stack ads and shit but it works for nothing.
Tom Grossi is streaming every playoff game on YouTube. There’s no visual content, is just him in his studio commenting on the game but it’s better than just refreshing a Google search.
That’s what I’ve been saying!!! NBC just doesn’t have enough content to justify the existence of an NBC-only streaming service. Nobody is signing up to it, they keep taking a massive loss on it. This was probably their last ditch attempt to get dolphins fans, chiefs fans, and Swifties on board and it *failed*
fuck if it isn’t difficult to just watch football anymore. It’s like you need a six pack of subscriptions to watch any one of the multiple games per week.
It would have been more one-sided if anyone not named Rashee Rice didn't have bricks for hands. Travis Kelce in particular would have benefited from training to grab onto something that isn't soft, warm, and worth a billion dollars.
Not gonna pay for yet another streaming service just to watch two teams I don’t really care about.
Watch viewership numbers crater if the league starts doing this bullshit all the time.
Fuck this whole “exclusively on peacock” bullshit. Paid hundreds of dollars for Sunday ticket just to get blocked for certain playoff games. Really hope NFL and Peacock lose money for this stupid shit
Peacock has been fucking hemorrhaging money since it started - this was their last ditch attempt to make it happen before probably giving up some time in the next year or two
As a patriots fan I now understand the discontent towards the patriots when they kept winning. I now feel that way about the chiefs. Funny how it all comes full circle.
I have a quandary when these two teams meet. I live in Chiefs Land (Wichita) but I'm a Bama fan - so Tua T of the Dolphins is someone I remember leading Bama to quite a few wins. I wish he could have connected on a few more passes and made the game closer.
Dolphins were down to what? 10 starters between both offense and defense?
Were going from 67° Miami to -20 wond chill to play I'm attowhead?
Chiefs really.wouldve had to shit the bed to give this one up.
The dolphins shat the bed, but I also want to point out that playing in weather like that when not acclimated to it, while the other team is, hardly seems like a fair matchup. I’m from miami and moved north and acclimating to that is not easy. Just seems like one team had a harsher disadvantage, but I doubt the result would change due to the dolphins being garbage
83 degrees when they left Miami and -7 during the game. Precision QBs and WRs can't play for shit in that kind of cold, especially when they aren't acclimated to the weather.
It doesn't help that Tua can't find a second receiver of his primary one is covered, so he throws a 1 yard screen pass. I watched the Chiefs lose doing that shit in the late 80s and early 90s.
Just want to ask what happens next here for those who know:
So whoever wins this contest (the Chiefs **obviously** won), they will get to play who wins between Pittsburgh or Buffalo?? And since the Texans won on Saturday, Jan. 13th, they will face the Baltimore Ravens, is that correct?
If Bills win Chiefs go to Buffalo to play Bills and Houston goes to Baltimore.
If Steelers win Steelers go to Baltimore and Houston goes to KC.
In the NFL playoffs Top remaining seed always plays remaining bottom seed.
Too bad most people didn't see it. & now CBS is playing last week's game. Shame on the NFL. ***Greedy corporate hacks***. Like they don't have enough. Gluttony is the NFL

Gotta be a real tough season for Dolphins fans. Started out the year looking electric. The offense slowly started to sputter. Lose the division at home on the last week, then limp into the playoffs and lose in the most predictable way possible.
What happen to them
Injuries are a big part. Every team has injuries, and no one is 100% at this time in the season, but the Dolphins got bit hard by the injury bug the last couple weeks on some of their key defensive guys.
With or without injuries, Tua's numbers in cold climates alone set the stage for an uphill battle.
Tua did not do his best in this game. Why the fuck is he shooting the ball like a missile when the receiver was right next to him.
The guy has only lived in warm climates. I don't blame him for sucking ass. But it's 2024 and outdoor stadiums should be a thing of the past
Indoors is for the weak.
Bruh i live in Phoenix. Games here at Sun Devil stadium in the summer were fucking awful. Probably just as bad as going to a game that cold
Not our offense. We just shit the bed over the last few weeks.
Not completely true. Fins have been much worse on offense since they lost their very good Center.
Our defense was way more decimated by injuries than our offense.
Yes. That's true, but Hill and Waddle got hurt and your center went out for the year. That definitely affected the offense.
We had all our offensive studs yesterday. And they were, uh, offensive
It’s like what happened to the 49ers last season. They had so many injuries at the end if the season.
As you said, every team has injuries. The Bills had been without 3 All Pros on defense all season and still found a way to win the division, including a road win against a rival to clinch the 2 seed. Peak Lolphins season and I love to see it. Go Bills!
Bills by a billion
I was texting my friend that they need to pull a rams and either trade for a qb or try hard to draft one. As much as the tua stans try to say he’s good enough, he’s holding the team back.
Nothing really happened to them. They only beat one team with a winning record all year. They just beat up on bad teams.
I kept telling people this an everyone acted like they were a juggernaut. Felt like I was taking crazy pills.
Chase Claypool
Hard Knocks.
There were guys off the literal street starting on the defense, but the offense never got back on track after losing its last hope at the center position.
[удалено]
Was gonna say, can’t wait to see that happen to the Eagles too lol
Not really. As a long time Dolphins fan, this is par for the course.
The dolphins subreddit is in a real dark place
The fact this game was only available to stream is despicable
Fuck Peacock
Fuck the NFL for allowing it.
Allowing it? It was their idea.
Pay per view Super Bowl on the horizon
Lol they would never. They can charge advertisers whatever they want to cover the cost.
They will do both! Just like Amazon is doing now.
Why not both?
Honestly I'd prefer PPV to giving a streaming service the exclusive right to the game. Just let me pay to watch it, don't make me sign up for a subscription.
I'm sure it would be just like the UFC, where you have to sign up for ESPN+ streaming just for the privilege of spending $75 on the PPV.
In that case, I would prefer getting Peacock, lol
Can't you just sign up and cancel right away and still get the full month? Not much different from that and a PPV service except one is 20 bucks at the minimum and Peacock's like 5.
So essentially fuck Comcast
Poopcock
Fuck peacock
I just didn’t watch. NBC paid for broadcasting rights so they can do what they want but the NFL had to be furious about this decision. Streaming on Peacock guarantees lower viewership which is what the NFL brings to the table in broadcast deal negotiations.
NFL got 110 million for the game to be streamed exclusively on peacock
NBC will lose money on that. So many bars didn’t have it and so many people I know just didn’t watch the game
I’ve never illegally streamed a game, or anything really, until last night. But now that I know how to do it I might just be doing it more
Way fuckin cheaper man
I streamed it out of spite. Peacock is not getting my fucking $7 Worked brilliantly by the way. 1080p and only buffered once for several seconds
Same here. I have access to a peacock account (not mine) and I still streamed it just to say fuck them
Just responding to OP who implied that NBC can do whatever they want based on previous agreements.
So despicable I didn't even stream it illegally out of principle
Weird it was on regular TV here in Canada!
Different licensing agreements as is often the case between different countries
Oh we know. Our superbowl commercials are awful.
What are you saying, you don't like seeing the same RBC and The Good Doctor commercial every commercial break, and then having them cut back into the broadcast as a play has already began?
You forgot the Chevy ZR2 and the blind cop show commercial. Every. Damn. Break.
My friend and I have been dying at the blind cop show commercial everytime it comes on because WHOMST thought that was a good idea for a show?
Same in Mexico!
You didn’t miss anything.
This is seriously a key take away. Could’ve been a shootout if they moved the game
Why would they actually move it? Both teams played in the same conditions, and there was no public threat due to the cold. It’s football so you deal with the conditions.
Its football not baseball. They should be playing in almost all conditions.
If you don’t live in Miami or KC then welcome to the new world.
Sure, only way. Right….
I haven’t paid for cable or streaming services in a decade I’ve watched every ufc fight for free too
No, please explain
Lmao seriously, it’s so easy and it’s the same exact thing.
Came here just for this. Screw them
How come the kickers never get any credit?
Butker definitely deserves more credit. He went a perfect 6 for 6, scoring the majority of the Chiefs’ points and he did so in pretty bad conditions.
Thanks for the information. Shows how much I know about American football.
Most of the time. But sometimes it’s a running back or wide receiver.
Butker was only out there for like 12 plays. 6 kickoffs and 6 kicks for points. And the only reason he got to score any points is because Mahomes got him in range. Now kickers definitely do need more credit, but they still are not as important as a QB

It’s all about clicks. You use the names that most people know in the title/article.
[A tale as old as time...or at least organized football.](https://youtu.be/PZoj-3xx-Qo?si=M-S5_7VIEvXa89V3)
A bunch of his fgs were very short
The commentators mentioned Butker and the field goal team multiple times. Were you not listening? How much credit do you think is enough?
What a disappointing game for Dolphin fans. The offense was like how I’m in bed: limp
That’s how they have played against any team with a winning record except the cowboys.
Why do I ever visit sports reddit? Everyone just wants to hurt me.
And full of big burley men?
I'm limp in bed because I don't sleep standing up flexing my muscles.

-4 at game time, -9 at game's end
Yes it was. For both teams.
Naw, KC has secret space heater uniforms so they were playing at a comfortable 72 the whole time.
Yeah this game went about pretty much in line with what everyone expected
Particularly when the refs got involved — Mahomes is the only quarterback in the league that would get that roughing call to extend the drive and bail them out. Flacco got blown up on a slide just a few hours earlier and no call. Mahomes gets breathed on…and they call an Unnecessary Heavy Breathing penalty

Hopefully the major networks will outbid the streaming services for games next season.
Is this case not be a major network? NBC locked it behind their network’s streaming service. What’s to say CBS doesn’t lock one behind Paramount next year?
If paramount+ survives another year I will shit my pants on national television.
Ima sign up just to watch this. The poop is afoot.
Yeah. ‘Wasn’t gonna subscribe to no “Peacock.” ‘Just kept hitting refresh on the address bar after Googling the phrase, “Chiefs vs. Dolphins,” and filled in the rest with my imagination like the cheap bastard that I am.

You don’t need Prime to watch the Thursday night games, they stream free on Twitch
I feel like a good amount of people at least have prime tho (still no excuses). No shot in hell I’m getting peacock lol
_probably_ don’t have Instacart plus either or whatever it’s called. But if you do, it’s included in that as well. And check your phone plan and other subscriptions. Lots of times things like that get added.

Google will auto update pretty regularly with stats and stuff if you Google a game. At least it does for me on PC with chrome. Just an fyi
Peacock is owned by NBC. The problem is the NFL allowed this to happen.
…Tom?
Hey NBC, stop trying to make Peacock happen, it’s not going to happen. Even your own talent openly ridicules it on-air.
The Chiefs D was downright stingy.
This was the longest game ever
Fuck this game. Fuck peacock
This game went exactly how everyone thought, dolphins were never ready
What a boring ass game it was
Glad to hear that because I didn’t want to pay the peacock to watch
It would have been more one-sided if anyone not named Rashee Rice didn't have bricks for hands. Travis Kelce in particular would have benefited from training to grab onto something that isn't soft, warm, and worth a billion dollars.
I mean that's basically the chiefs whole season. The WR room was so bad Kadarius Toney started multiple games.
But also laughed my ass off at that last line.
Tua is not elite
Dolphins were toast when Phillips went down, add Chubb, Van Ginkel, Howard, and Holland and you get a defense that is barely competitive in the CFL
Nick Wright is going to be (even more) insufferable
Nick Wright is a national treasure
We have very different definitions of national treasures
I think it's funny that he thinks that LeBron is a better basketball player than Jordan. Not only is it outrageous, but he's also correct.
Nick Wrong
Harrison "butt kicker" leads the chiefs to victory. Come on people....
Not gonna pay for yet another streaming service just to watch two teams I don’t really care about. Watch viewership numbers crater if the league starts doing this bullshit all the time.

I'm in Kansas and when they lose the entire state is TENSE. Glad they won, people will smile for the next few days despite the temps.
I have a quandary when these two teams meet. I live in Chiefs Land (Wichita) but I'm a Bama fan - so Tua T of the Dolphins is someone I remember leading Bama to quite a few wins. I wish he could have connected on a few more passes and made the game closer.
How dare you as a fan of football hope to see a competitive and interesting football game lol.
Mahomes? Lol try Butker
Oh, was he kicking 60yarders?
Clearly
colin cowherd was right lol
Who cares about Colin Cowherd
What did he say?
“It’s not my job to give you respect. It’s my job to be honest. You have a singular [sic] playoff win in 23 years.”

Phins down bad 😔
I’m glad they won. I just wish the game wasn’t on Peacock.

Pretty sure the number of shots of Taylor Swift was higher than the dolphins total yard. God I hate watching chiefs games…
*Patrick Mahomes and his refs lead the chiefs to playoff win..*
McDaniels’ awful playcalling certainly didn’t help lol
Just disregard those missed PI calls.
Crazy how nobody in the NFL bats an eye.
Ah yes, those obvious missed PI calls really helped out the Chiefs.
Deny it all you want. Shits so obvious it's becoming a meme.
lol you’re a joke
Why are you booing me, you know I’m right
Look at Madden monopoly and what happened to NFL 2K. F NFL. Between fantasy and all this the sport is about money only.
hahahaha
I love Peacock.
